The Greening of Detroit - Lafayette Greens: what do users think?
Steve Bair: Beautiful garden in the middle of downtown.
Clay Maddox: Nice little green space. Flowers and veggies growing beautifully. Some shady spots to sit and take in the greening area.
Angela Legato: This place is so beautiful and peaceful. Something you should walk through orsit down and relax in. I absolutely loved it here.
K R: A great garden of greenery in Detroit. Find a bench or picnic on the ground and enjoy some beautiful flowers and quiet time in the city. There are individual garden beds with a variety of plants and flowers, even some unique things growing.
Rashawnda Mathis: The Greening of Detroit - Lafayette Greens had an amazing fundraiser that I absolutely loved. The first time I have ever been there and the grounds are very interesting with beautiful flowers; trees and vegetables that all serve the community and local restaurants. This is smack dab in the heart of Downtown Detroit. I look forward to supporting this event again next year and visiting the gardens again.
Robert Martin Sr: Great place to have an outdoor wedding during the warmer months...
Ron Roelfs: We enjoy walking in Detroit. Especially when we find treasures like the Greening of Detroit.Beautiful garden that is well maintained and laid out.Quite a selection of plants along with sculptures and paintings.Find a bench suit down and enjoy. A nice escape from the rush of downtown.
Richard A Ramirez: Beautiful outside space in the heart of downtown Detroit open to the public!
L J: Low key, unknown gem.
Charles Vaughn II: Beautiful place, very obviously meticulously maintained. One of my favorite places in the city!
Ess Cooper: Beautifu Sustainable Garden.
PAUL RITZ: A brief respite in the City. Nicely planted and maintained flowers and plants. A calming few minutes in the busy Detroit.
Paul Nielsen: This is our own private garden right in the middle of the city, and we don't have to weed it. Take in nature and let go of your stress, if only for a few minutes a day.
Kim Casteel: Beautiful, friendly, healthy space in the middle of the city.
Denali Mike: Awesome little place saw a wedding here looked cool. I'd recommend it to someone for sure. Curious if its open to public or not.
Zachary Smith: Great little garden in the heart of the CBD. Nice to walk through and sit during lunch. Surprisingly quiet for where it is.
Will Juntunen: I worked in a co-working office that looked over Campus Martius, an urban park with fountains, a restaurant on the green and statues. That's my kind of place.I worked on the Fifth floor of a building constructed in 1964, according to the cornerstone. One year younger than my age, I think the building hardly shows its age.For lunch, I went out with my camera and snapped photographs and walked to one of the famous Coney island shops, American Coney Island right next door to Lafayette Coney Island.I had two with everything and walked over to the Book Cadillac hotel to buy a pack of mint gum to cover up the chopped onions. The trees around Lafayette Greens have grown taller since my last visit. The lavender had yet to lose its purple leaves and yet I noticed no tomatoes on the vines.I resisted picking the ripe blackberries growing on the brambles rowing in a sculpture garden.I knew the man who had brought the cheerful robots made of found metal scrap to the garden at least five years ago.Tim Burke makes them at his studio, Detroit Industrial Gallery, sharing Heidelburg Street with Tyree Guyton. We once stood on a sidewalk and chatted as thousands of people walked on by us.His car had been decorated with plastic Godzilla statues standing up to the hood and trunk.I was happy to see a collection of several in a space encircled by brambles bearing blackberries, hopefully on permanent display rather than a summer show.Burke's sculptures have stood in Lafayette Greens for long enough that maybe no one will remember to move them.I wanted to strike up one conversation in the garden.I said, matter of fact, "These are flowers that look like they are looked at".Not quite how T.S. Eliot puts it in the poem in four parts, the Four Quartets. But close. Her face reddened."I've been trying to grow this kind of flower for years, every spring since I lost my sister. These were her favorite kind of flowers"."Marigolds"?Not even a nice try, but a polite guess."Black Eyed Susan's.They grow wild but I cannot cultivate them in my garden.I keep trying and failing. This bunch is perfect".I decided to tell her a story to inspire."Let me tell you a story and then I'll leave you to contemplate the flowers.A fellow from Ohio was a great hunter and guide to hunters. He always helped his clients bag a limit of geese. And the geese knew him as if the geese could gossip about him.Geese would flock on the lawn and eat grass and let children watch. But the geese always fled Jack Miner. He bought land on the north shore of Lake Erie, planted corn and grass and dug ponds for the geese. However, it took ten years before the geese trusted him and would land. And soon hundreds and hundreds of geese landed every spring"."I need to be Jack Miner"!She looked full of deep emotion."Yes, be like Jack Miner", and I strolled off between the raised beds of salad greens.I pursued another morning strolling the streets of downtown Syracuse like an annoying mosquito of a paparazzi.I caught the baker who delivers french pastries from the Stoop again and he asked, "What are you taking these pictures for today? Do you work for a magazine?""I mostly put the images on Instagram, a study of Syracuse in the morning"."Here! Look yourself up on my phone".I found his pictures from the week before and he chuckled."Boom", I said.It seemed to be appropriate to say.He chuckled again. And he ran off to make more deliveries.
Kathy Kovak: Beautiful well kept gardens, loads of different plants, flowers and vegetables.
James Fahy: Beautiful gardens and nice places to sit and enjoy the weather.
Mr. Nice Guy: Very nice. A breath of fresh air in the city.
Kirk Dedenbach: Lafayette Greens is a very pleasant but SMALL green space in the middle of the city. It's a nice spot to sit and eat lunch quietly, or just grab a quick sanity break away from the office. I'm glad they used the space from a long-abandoned office building for urban agriculture rather than turning it into yet another parking lot.

Palmer Park: what do users think?
J Micallef: Beautiful park. Lots of nature to appreciate. I love the wavy rows of daffodils! Right across the street from my bestie's apartment, so it's a great place to take a stroll.I love that they have events there in the nice weather, like the art in the park.
Felicia: They are working on beautifying the park. It's still a lovely place to relax.
Brian T: The efforts to enhance the park system is evident here. Great facilities and not too busy during the day.
A Allen: Don't understand why they had to ruin the habitat for the geese, ducks, and deer by cutting the trees down on the islands inside the pond just to build a bridge. Black people can't have anything without some form of gentrification.
Brooke: Very interactive play scape, has adult exercise equipment close by, nice covered eating area.
Ureem Thumeim: Its beautiful place to sit and relax in the middle of town. Although it is going thru Lake remake in the middle and I hope it will turn out to be a great place to be.
Jamison Mosshart: Speaking just for the disc golf course: This course is great for all skill levels from MA4 up to MA1 - the longs are challenging and there are some 500'+ holes that really test your distance, well designed around a beautiful part of the park. It's rare I play a round here and don't see a deer.
timothy sullivan: Gonna be 5 stars when nature preserve is complete........
David Birch: solid disc golf course, tees not obvious at all hole.
Ty Townsend: Very difficult time locating the Detroit police Mounted patrol unit
Bryant Kern: Hate it
brian griffin: So awesome. One of the best parks in Michigan
Andrew Weirich: Went to disc golf. The park is great. A little wet but as to be expected in April. It’s nice to have this little slice of the great outdoors in the city. I have seen deer the last 2 out of 3 times visiting.
Shane Osnoe: Love Palmer park, lots of things to do disc golf, basketball, nature walks and different parks
Christina oswald: Nice trails to walk your dog on.
KD Dudley: We love this park. The fountain is amazing even though it’s not working. (Look up it’s history, we did!). Walk around the lake, swing on the bench, etc. it’s a beautiful outdoor space.
Vito Bellissimo: If you want fake food then go here other than that garbage. People just don't know what they're getting anymore none of the fish is actually real it's all fake and artificial.
Sarah Eberlein: Really nice park! We happened to be in Detroit so my fiancé wanted to check out the DGC here.
Infany CAIN: Very nice and clean
sLuG 207: A bit cold and "scary" but extremely fun if you go with friends
Eric Willis: I love going to Palmer Park, and I've been hanging out there for years. It's the LGBT park in Michigan. It's where the people of that community can and feel safe.
