Envision Studios: Great place for musicians great service very patient great atmosphere
Cj Singer: Very cool vintage equipment and the staff was great. Pretty cheap prices on bass strings as well. Worth checking out.
Anna Tomaszewski: Five stars because this is a really cool store but please fix your hours. I just drove down here with my sibling only to find out it's closed despite google saying it's open. (Wed April 27 at 1:45)
Venus Hernández: It's kind of pricey, and the parking is kind of an issue too..but it's a nice place, the guy was courteous good service
Sean: Wish they would answer the phone

Eric Waters: Jen and her staff are always super helpful and willing to order anything for me they don’t have in stock and at a good price.

jordan zielke: This place rules! What a gem of a music store to have right in the middle of Detroit. From fun and funky instruments to the necessities, little bit of everything!
Robert D: Great little place with friendly workers. This is the best spot to get a guitar set-up/repair. They focus on quality rather than quantity
Steve St. Germain: Love this shop! Last weekend they hooked me up w/ some gear for my record player- including a perfect vintage amplifier and nice set of Bose speakers. Super easy to talk with (they actually respond to customers!). I didn't have time to play w/ the acoustic guitars or all the other fun stuff they have so will definitely be stopping in again.
Matthew Hire: Awesome unique selection of guitars and tube amps, great service, and the guitar tech does a fantastic job!
Brett Red: Like it. Some Gems in there! Great staff.

Koontz Guitar Repair: what do users think?
Matt Joseph: Mike made a new bone nut and saddle for me on my J45 and did a terrific job. Intonation is spot on and it plays better than ever. Thanks Mike!
Frank Taubitz: Mike did a setup on an old Brawley guitar that was never quite playable, G and B always seemed a little off. Played it today, and LOVED it! I have a new guitar to enjoy playing again! Thanks Mike!!!
Akash Chakraborty: A nice and very helpful person
Sabrynth Official: Mike is a genuine guy and does amazing work. I got my guitar back from having the frets done and it's just beautiful. The difference in the feel of how it plays is just night and day. Wonderful, I'd give it 6 stars if I could.
Joshua West: I can’t imagine how he has 4.9 stars. Should be 5 because this guy is brilliant. Best in Detroit. It is so hard to find a good luthier. I have taken my guitars all of the place and had guys who said they were “pros” completely screw up my guitar. Wouldn’t trust anyone else to touch my guitars.
Tom Paul: Very knowledgeable and personable. He fixed an old Kay archtop for me. He assessed the guitar for what it is both good and bad. The decision is up to me now to see how much more I want to put in to it but he resoldered some wiring for the pickup and pots, got it working again, answered all my questions, and gave me a few pointers on a couple minor repairs I can do myself. Call him, he will always take the time to talk to you even though he is extremely busy.
Robert Reynolds jr: These people know how to set up a guitar. Highly recommend it.
Ashley Jermanus: We stopped in to drop off my husband's guitar, but Mike immediately saw the little issue, fixed it and sent us on our way. Great service!
Alexis Gauthier: Fantastic service!
Adam Sutherland: Mike Koontz (or what I will now forever call him as “Magic Mike”) is a Detroit treasure for musicians. My heart fell out of my chest when I came home from a vacation and saw that a picture frame had fallen off my wall, and knocked down my most prized guitar which was on a stand; a Gibson ES-335 Double Diamond, and caused the neck to snap. I cried for 4 days straight. After researching and speaking with local musicians, EVERYONE suggested I take it to ‘Mike Koontz’. This guy, as you can see, is a TRUE magician. The pictures speak for themselves.Yes, there is a pretty long wait just to drop it off and have it fixed (call ahead!), but he is WELL WORTH IT. You cannot even feel a separation and it has been repaired even stronger than it was before.I will ALWAYS trust in Mike with my guitars if any other unforeseen circumstances happen again, and he has my business for life.Mike, I can’t thank you enough!!! You truly are the best!!
Cody Cooper: Always great work! Highly recommend!
Jim Kostan: Mike Koontz,. Is the very Best.. I'm very fortunate to have found Mike to work on my guitars,,,for his quality of work, is unsurpassed. Always a consummate professional. Amazing! "Thanks Mike !"
Ronald Brasseur: Thank you so mush for the wonderful work on my ibanez iceman !!!
Giancarlo Medrano: Mike is the best! He did an amazing refret job on my 20 year old strat.
William Thomas: Koontz Guitar Repair is one of the best luthiers around town.
Jeff Giroux: Mike's phenomenal and worth the wait. He's usually busy; for good reason. In addition to his excellent craftsmanship, he can play the instruments he's repairing. These qualities are must-haves when seeking an accomplished luthier.
Mike Harrell: Best luthier ever! I've known Mike Koontz since the Guitar & Drum Center days of the early 80's and his stellar reputation is well earned. Mike has repaired several guitars of mine with perfection. Only person allowed to touch my 335. Thanks for everything!
Connie Arsenault: My guitars have never played better since Mike set them up. It was like “new gear day” all over again.
Jon Miron: Amazing fret work.
Jeff Horcha: Great guy, great work. I highly recommend him.
Keith Music: Called to see cost and turnaround for a setup. Was told a full setup would take about two weeks, but for adjusting bridge/nut/truss and run an electronics check it would be about an hour. Dropped my guitar off, had it back within an hour, was allowed to test in store to make sure I was satisfied, and cost was incredibly affordable. Incredibly satisfied with the results and will definitely be bringing my guitars here from now on.

Bayberry Music: what do users think?
tinesha erskine: I had my Viola looked at as well as inquired about other instruments. They were so knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. They explained everything they were doing to fix my Viola as well as some tips and things to look out for. I can tell they are passionate about all string instruments. I would definitely recommend and will be making this my go-to string repair and purchase store.
Yeman Al-Rawi: This is where you want to be for all your music needs… seriously, Andy and his team are some of the best at what they do and they’re genuine, honest people.
Catrina Street: What an amazing company! My son broke the neck on his guitar and you can not even see a mark after the repair. Very professional and friendly staff as well.
jon fricke: Andy was great to work with. Transparent on price, options, and timing. Really nice guy too!
Josh J: Amazing setup, fast turnaround & kind service.
Beo Games: Never went but I love it!
Michelle Hansen: Kkj
Jeff Pursell: Great place to buy or fix guitars or pretty much anything with strings
George M Wilson: Personable, skilled, great selection of supplies. Also, super happy to have a shop close by in Ferndale. 10/10 would recommend- for servicing guitars, and orchestral string instruments.
Patrick Becerra (PBeetheFox): I took my Strat in last week and asked Andy to install some locking tuners. They did a great job putting them on, and the turnaround was quick too. I've heard Andy referred to as "Koontz Junior" and I believe the moniker is well earned.
John Danna: Brought a 96 stratocaster in for a full fret re-work. I was nervous about who to bring it to. Took a chance and Andy up front was a professional. Promised within a week and done in 2 days. They did wonderful work for a reasonable price. I will be going back for future work. Thank you!
Joshua Steiner: Took my guitar in for a busted tuning machine. Ultimately it couldn't be fixed. But the man at the counter made a great attempt and the parts I needed to replace were in stock.
Robert Konieczko: Thank you,Andy. Your workmanship is first rate. Youve given new life to my inexpensive guitar,it now looks and plays like one ten times more expensive.
Keaton Soto-Olson: I would highly recommend this shop for anyone seeking outstanding customer service, a great selection of instruments, or expert repairs. Andy absolutely saved me (and the gig) with a short notice pickup install on my upright. Despite being close to closing time for the shop, Andy did the install and let me test it out on his PA. If you’re a string player of any sort definitely check out this shop, a great place to get a fresh set-up on your instrument or buy your new rig!
Serpent Column: Extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and professional craftsman whose work is on par with Ann Arbor Guitars. There's really nobody comparable in the metro area.
John Taylor: Great place to shop and have your guitar set up at. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were very reasonable and they took very good care of my son when we went there for the first time.
Justin Foust: I took two of my guitars to Andrew at Pursell Lutherie on a whim after hearing they worked on wooden instruments. He did wonderful work! I will always take my instruments to him in the future. He worked on both my Gibson and Mule Resonator in a timely and friendly manner. Would recommend Pursell Lutherie highly!
Joe Vrabel: Andy and team are the best! After having them fix and set up a used strat I picked up, I was sold. I will never take any of my gear to the big-box "center" again. Andy and team will take you through the repairs/adjustments they did, in detail and answer any questions you may have. I now have had them repair & set up three of my guitars and each one came back to me looking amazing and sounding even better. I now go there for lessons too. Overall, a great local business that I am happy to give my business to. Definitely give them a try!
eric kirkwood: I acquired a 1953 Gibson J45 that was found in an attic in royal oak. The guitar had so many cracks and loose bracing I was worried it might be too far gone. Andy completely restored and rescued the guitar while perfectly preserving its patina and charm and it is now the best player I own. I cant put it down. Being a craftsman myself, when I saw Andy's workshop I knew the guitar was in the right hands. This man is a highly skilled artisan. Many thanks to Andy, and to Aaron for the referral. These guys are friendly, accommodating and highly professional.
Jodi B: I’m so excited to hear the same folks are re-opening their store! Wonderful place and super nice people.
Joshua and Zena Neds-Fox: Pursell Lutherie is friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, and extremely competent. Set up my D'Angelico after a cold snap shifted the action and frets. My budget was tight and they still did right by me and the instrument. Sounds wonderful. A+, will certainly visit again.

Detroit Guitar: what do users think?
Tyler Willison: Fantastic store. Have bought a few guitars from them and they’re great to deal with!
Daniel Vigil: Agree that it’s a mixed bag here. The service is hit or miss. I’m also really not a fan of them calling them selves “Detroit guitar“ when they are in the wealthy suburb of Birmingham. If you want to claim the name, be in the city and contribute.
Bert Daer: I'm in my 70's. Been playing Gibson's since the middle '60's. The 50's and 60's Gibson's feel and sound 'real' to me. I have a several of them that I bought long ago. Got a super nice '52 no serial but no LP with humbuckers.I bought a Gibson Custom '59 Les Paul Standard Reissue Dirty Lemon Burst Murphy Lab Light Aged from Detroit Guitar. About the same aging as my '59 ES330TD with a similar neck. But the action is quite a bit below what I thought was possible. Sound is similar to my '62 Explorer but both sweeter and harder depending on volume setting. Detroit Guitar told me all that in slightly different ways. The Guitar exceeds what they described. The guitar arrived in perfect condition 2 business days after the order, no issues at all with shipping or packing. As I was told by Andrew at Detroit Guitar, this is truly a superb guitar. The magazines and Gibson are correct. Gibson is making its finest guitars now.The guitar far exceeds my expectations and is quite a bit better than the local 2013 Duane Allman Artist I had been looking at. Even if the Allman was priced at say $6k or $7k and not $17k on Reverb I would have chosen this one.Doing business with Detroit Guitar was smooth, personal and professional.Thank-You Detroit Guitars!
baron: It was very relaxing and cool!
30roundz: Great gear! Great people!
Aaron Galore: Nice shop. Cool environment. Unfortunately the worker who helped me charged me 101.99 on a pedal that was clearly marked 97.50. I didn't see the price tag til I got home . It's what the guy charged me , before tax . Nice shop but feel kind of ripped off . Over $5. But 5 bucks is 5 bucks .
Marc Di Lembo: What a stellar shop. Andrew was helpful, and patient. Dealing with the team at Detroit Guitar was a wonderful experience. If you’re a Fender fanatic, this place is a must. I’ve never seen such a line up of truly wonderful instruments. Can’t speak highly enough of this gem.
Joe Pawlowski: Ok
Joe Arozarena: Boutique guitar store with surprisingly wide selection of electric and acoustic guitars. Not many basses to choose from. Mostly mid to high-end prices.Parking space Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options Paid street parking, Paid parking garage …More
Nick: Charlie is fantastic to work with, has phenomenal prices, and great selection. Charlie took time out of his evening to get additional pictures for me (I’m pretty sure he did this even after the store closed). Happy to have found this shop. Seemed like he cared about making the sale when so many dealers just blow you off these days since the demand is so high.
Chad Coleman: Phenomenal selection of guitars to choose from, I felt like a kid in a candy store! The owner was really nice too, I'll definitely be back.
Fred: Mixed bag here. Visited many times over the years. Some folks are very welcoming and encourage you to grab a job and jam. The guy yesterday was overly concerned about anyone touching a guitar. Even told a couple of young guys they couldn't plug in and try a guitar about 30 mins before they closed. I get being careful. With your guitars. He just seemed way more concerned with his guitars being touched and getting people out before he left. I was actually going to buy a PRS but I ordered from Sweetwater instead. My new PRS Studio is being delivered tomorrow!
Joe V (joe1234): I never like to leave poor reviews on small businesses because I believe in supporting local business. That being said the manager in there is in need of a serious attitude adjustment. Has no passion for the job and even in an empty store doesn’t want to be bothered. Giving three stars because it seems they have nice stock. I took about three minutes of his time purchased the item I wanted only to find out the seal was busted when I got to my truck. I just left didn’t want to go back inside and will not return. Go here if you know exactly what you want but do not ask them questions.
John Negosian: NO PLACE TO PARK!!!! Located in the heart of downtown Birmingham. In the middle of all the chaos. WAY too congested in that area. Zero places to park. Totally not worth it.....To the owners- Sorry...but You guys picked the stupidest location. Good luck....
Hayt Cryme: Great guitar store, with fantastic guitars, very good taste. I was helped out and able to play some guitars that I had been wanting to try for awhile. The person helping me was knowledgeable about details of the guitars including hardware, electronics(pickups) and manufacturing. If you are in the market for a guitar and near Birmingham, this is a must visit.
Dave Moore: I stopped in for the first time a few days go. It's a smaller than average guitar store by square foot but they had a lot of guitars. What really impressed me was every guitar that I picked up was in better than new condition. Super clean not a smudge on any guitarthat I looked at. They were all perfectly in tune and had a good setup. Every guitar I played had nice low action with no string buzzing. Someone spends a great deal of time keeping these guitars in showroom condition and in tune. Nothing like what you see in the other guitar stores. And the prices were very competitive.
Up Up: Nice vibe and great selection. The guy that helped my daughter was very helpful.
david yarbrough: Very nice boutique guitar shop. A Fender lover's paradise. Could have a few more bass selections though. 🙂
George Watkins: Pretty cool store, higher end guitars 🤘
Ryan Kargleder: Good selection of guitars, and the staff were polite and friendly.
Colin Hicks: Great store, amazing guitars. But their service is very lacking. They’ve had my guitar for a month now just to switch the set up from 9s to 10s. I was told 2 weeks, 4 weeks ago. Again, love to support local businesses, but I cannot recommend servicing your guitar here.

Detroit Music Center: what do users think?
Sunni Goines: Nice record store. Not a huge selection but some great finds. And he keeps great music playing. Definitely found my local record shop
Arch Bishop Stacy: If they could open up on time, then I could rate them , as a professional Dj time is very important
Pamela Blackwell-Nwonye: Says they are open today from 12 noon. I am here. They are not.
Derrick Armstrong: I was happy to find a music store in the area. I was looking for music from the 70's as a gift for an elderly neighbor. I bought three CD's. My neighbor was so happy.
DaveUnderground: Record store with very rare stuff!!regards from germany to Detroit Techno City
Reggie Dokes: When I am in town, this is one of the first places I go to buy vinyl. The owner Cliff I have known since I was a teenager. Used to be called Buy Rite Music. Support small businesses in Detroit that offer great product and awesome customer service.
Lesley Riley: Great place friendly staff lots of records
Ingramar Miller: I actually love it! The cat that runs it is the coolest!
Tanika Lynch: Nice older man there but the shop is out dated and the prices r way to high.

Guitar Center: what do users think?
Chris Michael: Dan is the man! I called yesterday to ask about a Parker p44 and possibly getting it on layaway. He was super helpful and explained what I had to do on my end to secure this guitar. He even went and got it to tell me about the condition of it and everything he knew about it. I ended up being able to work something out and buy the guitar outright but I’m super grateful for Dan taking the time to help me out and check over the guitar for me. If you see this, Dan, thank you very much! I’m really excited to receive the guitar!
Derek Seed: Bubba in repairs did an awesome job on my Paul Reed Smith! Highly recommend!
Chuck Gurskey: I recently purchased a new Fender Japan Stratocaster. Had some minor issues. The guitar tech, Bubba, went above and beyond what I even expected! What I thought was going to be a long process turned out to be a piece of cake..if you will. I haven't had enough experience with the current sales staff but I'm sure they're just fine. However, Bubba is Da Bomb!!
deon johnson: Extremely racist. Came in to sell an item and they assumed it was stolen and would not purchase it. Also did not give me any reason for why they would think it is stolen.
jessica weeks: My son went in to this guitar center today and was helped by Scott. He was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to provide great service.Keep up the great work Scott!
D Dailey: Always excellent help
Stacy Maxx: I'm a singer, so whenever I need something, or I just want to check some equipment out, I always come here. Super cool, down to earth staff workers are great every single time.
Jake Saporito: Really big waste of time to do anything requiring customer service.
CJG313: Dude with the mullet was one of the best employees of anywhere I've been as far as customer service goes! Thanks for the help man!
Dennis Thompson: Never bought a guitar from here, but I have bought plenty of guitar strings, and a piano, lol!Really wish they had a better selection of guitars, though? For a place called "Guitar Center", stock (mainly electrics) is really low.
Richard Jasper: I just set out to learn guitar and I will say that the conversations I had with a couple of the guys at the Allen Park location has been nothing short of awesome. The knowledge and the sincere honest opinions that they shared with me while I searched for an acoustic was unbelievable. I have stopped in this store on a number of occasions over the last couple of weeks to decide what I wanted and never felt pressured to just buy something, rather they took the time to explain all of the options (from the cheapest to the very high end). The gentleman that is responsible for the repair section was honestly, and absolute blast to deal with. Stopped what he was doing to help me with selection and also didn't try and upsell anything which in the end made my decision easy to purchase from them. If you need anything related to the music world, whether it be lessons, equipment or service I highly recommend you see Bubba and the guys at the Allen Park location. I look forward to chatting more with these folks as I continue down the journey of learning guitar. Cheers Fella's!!!
PAUL RITZ: Daughter bought a bass guitar with amp here. Friendly and professional clerks.
Anna Roman: They have great wing suggestions! I was in there buying new strings and Bubba is the man to talk to about good chicken wings nearby!
Rich Garbacik: After purchase of the Alesis crimson 2 SE. We were told this is a very good drum set and will have no issues. My 15 yr old step son after 1 month had a symbol stopped working now within 8 months all four symbols stopped working. Guitar center won't do anything and after multiple emails Alesis will not respond. I would not suggest working with either company.
Damn B-Yung: Super helpful
Malek Al: Was charged 3x for a sustain pedal, and the store manager hung up on me multiple times after asking for a refund. Now I am taking this to Civil Court. Very big headed egotistical indignant people there. Shop at Marshalls music.
Diana Wasaanung'gokwe Seales: I would give this place 10 stars out of 5 if I could. The staff goes above and beyond and stay very calm and helpful even when the place is packed. They were so kind to my 11 year old son who is learning to play the drums. Even though we just made a small purchase today they made us feel like rock stars. We will be back!!
Nathan Asfour: Bubba was amazing with my guitar setup. Usually I frequent the Canton location, but AP has my heart now.
Dyon Borner: My grandson takes piano lessons there he loves working with Lauren she is so kind and patient
Raymond LaBeau: Helpful staff, clean and wonderful
Gerardo Pavone: I had a great experience today at Guitar Center in Allen Park, Michigan. The manager and the staff were friendly and, most important, knowledgeable. I was looking for a specific guitar and they called me back to confirm that they had it in stock. When I drove to the store, they did a price match and I was able to get the guitar at a very good price.

Guitar Center: what do users think?
Brent Olivache: Weird employees. Had to wait forever for help to get no help.
Courtney Agosta: Came in on Saturday and Ellie was a great help. Prior to coming in I called and asked for two specific guitar stands (sorry don't know who I talked to) they were there and ready. Ellie was quick to assist in additional last minute needs!
andju2hikari: I bought an used guitar from this shop using Guitarcenter website. Well packed, fast shipping, and even a great follow up service (replied an email within one hour with courtesy).I live in Charlotte, North Carolina and two Guitarcenter local stores are really bad. So, I checked the review here and I know this Southfield store is nice!! One of the happy purchases!!
Tristan Ross: This is the best DJ place ever. Glen is amazing
George Gary: Called to make sure store had it. The Southfield mi store n yes still there. Told the employee I’m calling progressive to buy it now. I did n was told that there is no item with that store. The girl suspended it n now it been almost 5 hours in still I can’t buy it ???? You would think when I talk to the manager he would’ve said give me your phone number. I’ll call you back as soon as this is straightened out. Nope I get to keep calling keep calling keep calling keep looking very poor service.
Aidan Johnson-Hill: Great service and an excellent selection of all types of music products
Mrs Hall: Understaffed (but knowledgeable), high prices but good selection.
Fred Crandal: Always have been helpful to me. Reasonable prices and personal service. I need this place and am glad they are here.
Bryan Tewkesbury: They had what I wanted, good price, great service. Can't complain.
Dustin Leslie: I just had a tremendous experience with Dave in the Speaker/Audio Dept. He helped me diagnose a very affordable solution for a major commercial audio project. I couldn’t be happier with the level of professionalism and insight. Thank you!
Sara Adams: Not much for a brass musician. Small selection of music stands and lights.
Ken Sturm: Much better than the Canton store which is low on stock and no drum techs. This Southfield store is bigger and I found what I needed. The cymbal selection could be better..
Gerardo Pavone: Returned an item with zero problems. Guitar Center's return policy is absolutely customer friendly.
Dylan Tobin: Thank you for the awesome customer service. What made this a 5 star experience was that the Guitar Center Team Member whom I spoke with, went above and beyond to provide me with accommodations so that I didn’t have to come inside to the store.
Diontae Respress: I recommend you bring your kids or just yourself here for lessons. You can really tell that all of the teachers and the head of the lessons department (Chris) really care about what they are doing. This isn't anywhere close to a money grab, my son has made leaps and bounds with his guitar lessons.
johnathon banks: Awesome place with very friendly and kind staff.. they even offer piano lessons here.. so I'll definitely will be taking some lessons
Joey Kittel: Audio section where it at!!!
Maryann Cromwell: Favorite!
William Trees Jr: Our sales guy was great… Thank you John, 100% helpful and very knowledgeable!!! Helped my son get a new drum set… Made great suggestions and was never pushy… Honestly great job and service!!!! Thanks again John
N Calv: I would never recommend doing business with this company.I was charged for drum lessons for my two kids and still had two lesson’s remaining each. They charged me for four more lessons each. My account was then cancelled and all was lost.Again. I would never recommend this business to anyone.
C.A.T.O Taylor: Love going to the local Guitar Center! The staff is always helpful!

Zimnicki Guitars: what do users think?
Mar Jeff: Nice archtops!!
Kelly Quiroga: For years I never thought I'd be able to play an instrument again due to an injury but with the encouragement of family and friends I bought a cheap left handed mandolin and slowly began a new musical chapter. Now thanks to Zimnicki Guitars my dream mandolin has become a reality. Gary worked with me every step of the way to ensure it not only looked amazing and sounded exceptional but was something I would be able to comfortably play with my injury. I highly recommend Zimnicki Guitars.
