Sterling Woods: I was introduced to Mike B through a marketing event at work. He showed me the facility in GP and toured me and a colleague. I made an appointment for some neck pain that had been ongoing. They worked with my insurance and I feel a lot better. Definitely recommend.

Christopher La Joie: I was here for a month after a terrible case of Covid Pneumonia which left me incapacitated from January to June. I was completely bedridden and couldn't do so much as hold light items.This is my story from late June to August 3rd, here at RIM.The experience here was phenomenal. I was on the 4th level and every day (besides weekends) I was out in the gym area doing 90 minutes of Physical and Occupational Therapy with a mixture of Speech. It was very hard at first, painful even, but my therapist had to be the nicest people I ever had the pleasure of meeting during my time. I'm unsure if I can name people, so I'll leave that a secret. You know who you are though.I was constantly at my breaking point. Tired every day due to all the physical output required for me since I essentially lost all of my muscle mass. I constantly needed a nurse or PCA to tend to my basic bodily needs. I can't express how grateful I was to have people clean me constantly (and I will always apologize for that). Thank goodness I could feed myself at least, I would've felt worst!I'm sure many other patients got depressed, I sure did. It's hard being in that position and, besides the grueling therapies, there's nothing to do but contemplate life and think about the future and the what if's. That's fine, but you gotta remember, you're in a place designed to get your mobility back! I'm kind of kicking myself in the foot for being so depressed at first because my progress was very slow. Very VERY slow. I too had those thoughts that I was stuck being wheelchair bound and mostly bedridden. Listen... you will get better. Your muscles and stretches will return. As of this day, December 3rd of the same year, I'm finally walking again, thanks to the help of these therapist here.But I'm getting ahead of myself, another part of RIM helped me improve as an outpatient, not this place (though it definitely got me started, no doubt!).Food-wise... goodness, it was fantastic. When I got here, I was cleared to have a full diet and goodness was their stuff GOOD. Special shout outs to this one food service lady who cut, opened, and helped set me up every single time. I hope you're still there, you were the best and I bet a lot of patients feel the same way. No one else did NEARLY as good as you did. Took orders well, delivered in a timely fashion, and always repeated what that day's food was.I did have one bad thing to say, but I wouldn't drop a star for it. My caseworker... did little for me. My family members were very confused about what to do and the caseworker seemed to be "on vacation" half the time. In fact, get this, the day of my discharge... they didn't get me a transport...Seriously? I had a PCA with me on the 1st floor when this happened. They were absolutely livid that my caseworker didn't prepare a transport for me, still stuck in a wheelchair and could very briefly stand. Very unprofessional and just a kick in the rear for my entire family that was present.Anyways, this is getting long. Final words, just want to say RIM did what they had to do. Thank you to all the staff and therapists that attended to me. I'll never forget this place.Thank you, truly.

Jill Dennis-Booth: Just struggled here from two hours away to visit our family member. Arrived at 6:10 p.m. My understanding is that visiting hours are until 8 pm. Apparently not. 6 pm I was told by people gpong in and out of the locked building. I had my mother in a rehab in Troy. Could visit whenever I wanted. Rehab in Flint can visit till 8 or 9. This is bad from the standpoint of a family member. I hope she is getting good care. We can't see it

Antonio Harris: My wife had a stroke and their inpatient/outpatient physical therapy is excellent, but when they sign you up for their outpatient physician services it's a mess. They set your appointment times when their staff is at lunch so you have to wait until they come back. My wife last appointment it was 40 minutes before we saw a doctor. I had to let them know this is an unacceptable practice. Even thought you have an appointment, they make you call to see if they have a room available. I told them that's why you have appointment. A staff member told me that how it works here. That's why your getting this "One Star". Do get me wrong the doctors are good but their scheduling needs help.

Carl Pfadt: High quality care - nightmare billing. I switched to cash pay and they tried to charge me the full insurance-pay rate, even after I'd paid the cash-pay amount at the time of billing. Should have been a very easy fix, but it's been over 4 months and it's still not resolved. Not worth the headache of working with them.

Ngozi Parker: My mother is currently in Rehab for the next few weeks due to kidney tumor removal surgery. She’s just beginning to be able to sit up and get out of bed. My mother pushed the nurses button for assistance a PCA by the name of Amber came in my mother’s room and made a remark that she’s smells like Pee. My mother stills needs assistance to walk and have to use a urine pan. She was very unprofessional and inconsiderate of my 65 year old mother as a patient and a human being. The disrespect she displayed made my mother very uncomfortable and caused her blood pressure to sky rocket. I’m so upset writing this I’m in tears. As a medical professional she should have never let those words leave her mouth even if was a thought. I lost all respect for her and pray that my mother can continue her rehabilitation having faith that she would be treated with the upmost respect by other staff members as her Blue Cross insurance continue to pays for her stay.

Craig Conley: I recently completed physical therapy at this location and I must say that this was the most beneficial and satisfying that I have ever experienced. I would like to commend the entire staff for their exemplary service that they provided. My therapist Paige and Mohammed were both extremely knowledgeable and always expressed sincere concern regarding how I was feeling upon returning for each and every appointment. Additionally they were always patient and willing to adjust/modify my treatment at any time that I had a concern/complication. Please forgive me if I misspell the therapy assistants name Shanice who was equally as pleasant and extremely efficient. I must also mention the therapist Dave who I did not have the experience of treating with but was always greeted me as well as inquiring as to how I was doing etc. All in all I will say that I have been to various therapy facilities over the years and I can truthfully say that this has been the best and most satisfying physical therapy experience I have ever had. I do highly recommend anyone in need of physical therapy to seek the services of the staff at this location and experience the care and concern that I've never experienced anywhere else. Believe me they'll treat you right.

Vernice Alexander: I went to Athletico for physical therapy related to a knee injury. My first visit was a consultation and I paid my deductible. I completed 5 sessions. Weeks later I received a bill saying I owe for a service while they completed my consult. After consultation we scheduled my appointment times and days. They charged me for a service they had not discussed with me. I wrote and emailed the billing company saying I was charged for a service without my approval. A representative for Athletico in the GM building called and threaten me and she said I better pay. If anyone is planning to complete Rehabilitation with this company make sure they explain and get your permission to provide a service. This company is not truthful. They have shady billing practices. Ask questions or just find another Rehabilitation facility and save yourself the headache. Don't do business with the Athletico in the GM building or downtown facility.

Ahmed Zindani: Was told I only needed 4-5 weeks of PT for a proper diagnosis of my progress and my knee’s overall condition to get an MRI. I was also told that my insurance would cover everything. Turns out I was being charged $80 per visit and I would only be there for about an hour every visit. My knee felt worse by week 4 and a few days in and I let them know I couldn’t continue PT because I felt like my knee was only getting worse although I trusted that it was normal to feel the discomfort. I didn’t find out I was being charged until week 4 of my visits and at that point I was disappointed that I was paying so much only to be in more pain. I called my PCP and they said that I was discharged by the PT that I was seeing because I stopped too soon. I felt betrayed and lied to, and that’s to say the least. I was never able to get approved by my insurance to get an MRI because the PT discharged me. Again, I was told 4-5 weeks and I was there twice a week for a little over 4 weeks, and I was discharged for leaving too soon.Extremely disappointed especially because they were actually nice people, but let me down the way they did. Brutal experience. She constantly pushed and pushed the idea of me receiving additional treatments that costed more although I clearly made it clear that I wasn’t interested and it almost seemed as if she would get angry for me not agreeing to pay for the costly voluntary treatments.

Mary Kramer: Nichole Chakur, who leads this Athletico team in the Renaissance Center, is a terrifically gifted therapist. I have gone to PT before over the years and basically, someone sat with a clipboard while i did exercises. Nichole did a very thorough analysis of my issues -- i needed work after hip replacement surgery changed my gait and alignment. She provided exercises for me to do on my own and then provided hands on therapy on problem areas. It was remarkable. I can walk without pain, I have my own ongoing set of exercises to keep strengthening my hip and glutes and i am walking without pain. HIGHLY recommend. Plus it's easy to park in the deck, they validate parking and it's easy in-and-out of the RenCen.
