Katie Story: I just gave birth a few days ago. Have been trying to call to add her to my insurance as I am already getting "uninsured" bills. I called waited on hold for over 50 minutes. Could tell someone picked up because the wait music stopped. Sat there so I said "you may as well answer because I am not hanging up." Ironically, a few moments pass and I can hear something and then I am hung up on. This then happened the second time I called. Wait time not as long. What is the point of a customer service if they dont provide the customer with service?!

Matthew Boschi: Hands down the worst health care provider ever. Had enhanced benefits; then I didn't (because they sent me an enrollment form after the due date for my enrollment). Then I had to file a grievance to correct their error on this...WOW; not a world class experience to say the least. What's even more hilarious, is after I enrolled in their "healthy blue living" weight management program (that requires you to wear a fitbit); the code they sent me for the "free fitbit" didn't work. They then informed they'd "refresh/reset" the code...that didn't work. Needless to say, I was just kicked out of enhanced benefits because my "fitbit" wasn't reporting...the one I couldn't get from them. Used to be proud to have blue cross insurance; now its a household embarrassment and an organization that truly doesn't give a _ _ _ _ about its members.

Caitlin Farmer: If I could give 0 stars I would. I have had nothing but problems since I made the mistake of transferring my policy to Tony Massey when I moved to Michigan. First of all, even though my policy was transferred from another State Farm agent in Texas (who I never had issues with), Tony’s office managed to spell my name wrong. On top of that, I asked for a copy of my rental insurance policy so that I could move into my apartment and it took 4 phone calls to accomplish this seemingly simple task to the point that I almost was unable to move in. I then moved 1 year later and asked for my address to be changed and again it took 3-4 phone calls to accomplish that and they managed to mistype that as well. I then made the mistake of trying to insure a new vehicle with this incompetent office who quoted me a value then sent me a bill over double that amount. When questioned about this he explained that legally we have to have certain policies in place because the car was financed. Fine, but why the hell were we not told this up front when the quote was given to us?? That’s literally your job to tell us that. Then after questioning the disparity in the quote and the bill, somehow he managed to change the number again to a random number in between the 2 numbers, so who the heck knows what’s being covered, how much my next bill will be, if my freaking name and address are even correct (I’m guessing no), etc. Not once did the office or Tony apologize for any of their mistakes. Oh, and did I mention when discussing all these issues he couldn’t account for a year of coverage that I had spent hundreds of dollars on. I’m hoping people will take time to read this review to save the incredible headache working this office has become.Sincerely,Extremely dissatisfied customer

I called the office two or three times (during normal business hours) to ask questions about my policy and each time the newly hired receptionist told me that he was not in the office, and when I described my question, she told me what I was asking for was not possible - despite not having the requisite training to make that assertion. I also asked if they could send me a document that outlined flood coverage options for my home and she said it was not possible, she could only read them to me at lightening speed over the phone and then act annoyed that I was confused. I asked that the rep call me back each time, and NEVER got a call back.

Hannah Foley: My plan with BCBSM is supposed to cover prenatal care 100%. I have received charges for almost $900 so far for a routine blood test, one visit with obstetrics, and 2 ultrasounds. When speaking with a customer service representative I was told that they "decided" not to cover certain charges, such as specific routine blood tests!!! My only recourse is to file an appeal, which will likely be denied. I cannot believe the cruelty, deception, and corruption that is allowed to run rampant in our healthcare system, with BCBSM being one of the worst culprits. This is shameful and it drives hardworking people to bankruptcy just to pay fraudulent health care bills. BCBSM should be ashamed.

Candice Oliphant: Terrible. I chose the top tier medical insurance this year so as not to worry about medical costs. I wish you could get a refund for useless insurance. I have been calling for days, tried staying on hold, leaving several messages, calling different numbers, using the chat function with zero response. I cannot trust their preferred provider list as it is not updated, (which they said was the providers fault). So then I am supposed to call with provider's NPI numbers to ensure they are really in network, but no answer or response for a week. The providers themselves cannot confirm if they are in network. Meanwhile my insurance ends at the end of the month leaving me no time to actually make an appointment to use my insurance.Also, I printed out 2 EOBS on the website from the same date of service showing completely different amounts. Super confusing.
Chris P: One of the most poorly run companies in US history. I've been a member of both BCN and BCBS through employers for over a decade. The customer service is abysmal and surely is within the lowest quartile measuring customer satisfaction. The claims almost never go through without issue and need for appeal. Which drops you into the poor customer service experience. Most recently, I've called on two different occasions simply looking for information on a plan I am researching switching to, to ensure my doctor's participate. In both instances, I was stuck in a swirling vortex of doom, being transferred from one customer service group to Health Plan Advisors and back. 8 transfers per call just going back and forth. This company should be ashamed of the product they deliver to their customers. If you are lucky enough to not be forced into being a customer through your employer, avoid at all costs!

Multiple times I wasted hours and hours on the phone with no one having an answer for me. They had no clear answer why my coverage was terminated without my knowledge or any warning and they do not take responsibility for their mistake unless you sue them. They outsources their customer support as well which makes it even more frustrating and pointless. No other way of contacting anyone and no information on the web on how to contact the right department when you need to. Forget about mailing they take a year to reply or the mail goes missing. Do not waste your time and money with this company.

I am type 1 diabetic and was promised that insulin would not have to be paid from the deductible, it would be free because it’s considered preventative. Well I figured out that they screwed me when the pharmacist asked for 2k. They refused to let me talk with someone who can make decisions. And they didn’t care that I can’t afford my insulin anymore which I need to survive. If that’s nit considered preventative, what is?! I terminated the coverage after 1 month as I have to pay everything 100% anyways. Now I am without health insurance until the next open enrollment period. Well done BCBS, well done! Not to mention your incompetent customer care staff. I might as well talk to a wall.

Joey Bleu: its a good thing they are subsidized by the state. these guys couldnt find their butt with both hands. call the number on your card/ i did that not the right number. then i got the number to the main orifice getting past the robot was a huge challenge. sometimes its best to just stay on the line rather than answer the prompts. i tried saying my membership number "not a valid response" I finally got through one thing about me i am a bludgeon i will not stop. finally i got to talk to a very nice person four transfers later. i was told what i already knew but just wanted to confirm. thanks for nothing BCBS. you havent changed since when i first got you 80 years ago. you probably will never change. you get paid whether you work or not.

I was on the phone for over 3 hours today with them, spoke to 5 different representatives including supervisors, and got conflicting information and no answers. From the final rep, I asked him to send me in writing what he was telling me but he wouldn't.They've given me dozens of numbers for Durable Medical Equipment vendors, I have called all of them and not a single number has worked - many numbers aren't in service, some don't work with BCBS, and none have carried the equipment I need.2 of the 3 BCBS reps say I can pay out of pocket from anywhere instead of going through an approved DME (since they can't even give me one that works) and file a claim but they couldn't confirm if it would be covered or not.
