Janette Flores: Their spicy mayo has to be one of the spicies one I've had so far! The food is delicious considering the area it's located. There is no dine-in and their ordering area is extremely small for the amount of business they get. If you are walking to this area there is no waiting area inside so Def recommend taking a seat next to the DIA building while you wait for your food to be ready! But even so the wait time is never long.

Ahmet Sert: Don't waste your time and money going to this place. It's not cheap and service literally doesn't exist. They make you walk through 3 rooms just to sit you down on a street bench and serve you with foam boxes. The sushi is mediocre, pork chops are cold and they serve you vegetable tempura when you actually order shrimp tempura. Never coming back.

Zarinah El-Amin: I have NEVER just thrown my food away while still hungry, but that's exactly what I did here. I should have turned around when I saw the way they presented the restaurant and the fact that there was no one else there, and no proper seating, but I decided to give it a try. I was treating my friend for her birthday. I ordered beef bibimbop, one of my fav dishes. She ordered the spicy seafood bibimbop. My lil bit of meat was bland and cold. The rest of the meal unseasoned and room temp. Her dish was spicy but she said it tasted like the shrimp were not clean and that while spicy, it was underseasoned. I literally threw my food away in the "dumpster" they reserve for people who dit down. She didn't want to throw hers away in front of me, but she too stopped eating. $45 down the drain. I didn't think to complain while there or ask for my money back, but later when telling another friend about this horrendous experience, I found out I should have done that. This place is a big fat NO.

Alyssa Pelloni: Went in on a weekend night… as Detroit’s Dining scene can get pretty busy I checked online for a reservation, but they had every slot available so I didn’t bother with a reservation. When we got there the host tried to steer us to the bar, but when i mentioned all the available tables as well as reservations online she sat us at a 2top. The original ornate ceiling & overall architecture is gorgeous. I wish the owners accented on the history of the building rather than trying to make it modern. Lots of silver/blk, but I feel like they were leaning into the “Asian fusion”… I digress! Our Server Fiona was super friendly, attentive & informative. We Started with a purple vodka drink “From Dusk till Dawn” (love this movie) it was really nice & refreshing. Started with apps the Crab Rangoon & Paos version of Elote. The Rangoon’s were good & definitely filled to capacity. The Elote was bland & over all a huge miss. They use baby corn & fry them in tempora which was cute, but honestly the most disappointing out of everything. Just bland & the sauces on the side were also just bland. Elote needs some flavor! Lime, chili powder, something. The Wagu sliders were yummy. Truffle fry’s were basic Coney Island fries with a ton of truffle powder. Meh. We also had the chicken Katsu. Another pretty presentation, but lacked flavor. Didn’t finish this one. Also id recommend training your food runners to always explain what’s on the dish, Wether it’s a weird sauce or something that’s unique about the dish. It really gets people excited & they feel informed. With so many fantastic fusion restaurants in Detroit i.e. Takoi or Basan you have to set yourself apart & this restaurant just didn’t. Nothing seemed innovative or special & everything lacked flavor. Also they automatically gratuity 20% while I totally support this (as a ton of servers get ripped off) i’m just throwing this out here for the masses. Overall I won’t be returning as there’s plenty of other powerful flavors in the City.

Emma Kroll: Not sure if I signed up for dinner or the club. I was hoping for a more intimate dinner but the music was so loud and this was just on a Thursday. We got the edamame to start which was good. We got the miso sea bass which by far was the best dish that we got but the rice that came along with it was so undercooked it was crunchy the flavor was there but it just wasn’t cooked. We got the scallops which were good but you only get three and the side with that was more edamame (this dish was way overpriced for what you got) I wish that it would be with some other side when you already had edamame as an appetizer. The last thing we got was the bulgogi which was super salty the flavor was there but way too much and the slaw that which with it did not taste great the flavor was interesting did not pair well with the bulgogi. I will say the drink cocktails that we had were on point. If I was to go back it would be just for the drinks because it felt like more of a club and drink vibe they also offer hookah if you are into that. Also forewarning they automatically enter 20% gratuity regardless of party size. The service was great our waitress was very knowledgeable about the drinks and the food. Just be aware it is a club vibe if that is what you are into.

Maria Lalama: Tried to celebrate my friends birthday here, but the staff could have cared less about us and more about the TikTok influencer next to us. We were there 20 minutes before the influencer next to us, but waited an hour and ten minutes BEFORE we got our drinks.The excuses was given that the bar was "backed up" by the social media influence got drinks and food before we even saw our waitress again. Finally, we were moved to a different table due to the other party sitting on our table and standing around us the whole time. However, instead of fixing the problem, they gave us free shots, but we all drove so they were not consumed. The food was cold as if it had been sitting there for over an hour. I was charged $30 for valet but my friend behind me was charged $55. Too many inconsistencies in the night to recommend or ever go back. Very disappointed!!!!
Shantel Butras: I went a a year ago and food was good but food is not good at all. Their Waygu tacos tasted like a packet of taco seasoning and it was definitely not wagu. We also got the bulgogi beef which was horrible and had to complain and say we can’t eat this and take off the bill. It def seems they need a new chef or focus on a type of cuisine.. they have Mexican, Korean, american, and Chinese flare all combined in one and it does not work with whoever is cooking. Before it seemed like it was an elevated Asian fusion. Service and vibe was the only thing that was solid!

FatBottom Flowers: Took my wife and a friend for her birthday, the food ranged from mediocre to gross, while the atmosphere and aesthetics were unique. The restored interior facades had some great moving lights, dark interior, with loud nightclub versions of familiar pop songs. I liked the atmosphere, but it's not for everyone. We ordered 4 appetizers and 3 entrees to share, the lettuce wraps were hands down the best thing we ate all night - but they weren't even as good as PF Changs. The Mexican style fried baby corn was nothing special, the Korean bulgogi was rolled up, salty, and reminded me of tender beef jerky, but the grilled octopus (and I LOVE octopus) was gross, bland, with a chewy hard texture that didn't remind me of food - I could not swallow this, and the grapefruit accompaniment made it worse. We ordered the fried whole Red Snapper, which they removed chunks and fried the bone separately, but essentially I was eating bland fish & chips with cole-slaw (yes cold cole-slaw) instead of chips for $55. The lamb was cooked as ordered, nothing special, but the sea bass was actually decent. On the way out we had to squeeze past girls in thongs dancing on mini-stages, I couldn't figure out if it would be more rude to tip them or not tip them because it's a restaurant. Unfortunately strip-clubs have much better food.

C L: Update: it's Mother's day 2023 (4/14/2023) They have plenty of open tables and servers, if you're thinking of taking your mother out today this quaint place is the perfect place to go without the stress of crowds.We had a great first experience here, the ambiance of the restaurant was amplified by the authentic music playing overhead, loud enough to hear but not so loud that it prevented conversation. The sushi rolls are fresh, I'm a bit picky when it comes to sushi and this was 9.5/10 based on my experience. I love how they served the sushi in a boat, we had 6 rolls and it cost a little above $50 which isn't bad considering I usually pay around $80-$100, it only took about 15 minutes to get our order.It was a Monday afternoon so it wasn't very busy there was one table with three people finishing up when we arrived and another two people who came in while we were dining. My favorite roll was the MSU roll my son liked the sunny California roll which had an abundance of orange caviar on top.All in all this will be my new go to sushi restaurant it's in the heart of East Dearborn 🍥♥️

Reilight: We are coming here almost every week. Sometimes we order delivery, but prefer coming straight to the place because of their marvelous atmosphere. It’s cozy in here, you may have a privilege of l privacy during the meal. The food is tasty. Service is polite. Nice music and quiet aura. This is exactly what you need in case you are looking for home atmosphere or escaping from people. Also they have a great homemade wine, tea and lots of other beverages. Alpaqua: I went here and ordered the teriyaki chicken, the large mixed tempura, and the fried cheesecake. Tempura chicken was good, I was hoping for more of a stir fry. It was good just not what I was hoping for. The mixed tempura was real good a mix of sweet potato, onion, shrimp, peppers. The fried cheesecake with mango ice cream, was awesome. I would definitely go back for more of the same.

Ashleigh Gunter: My evening started by not receiving a menu and I had to share with the person I was sitting next to. Then the drink I wanted to order was unavailable and the server suggested a similar drink and did not tell me it was $23 per drink (more than double the drink I originally wanted) I should’ve been told! That is super shady on their part. Then my entree did not come out until everyone else was almost done eating. I spent over $100 on an app, entree, and two drinks! Then on top of everything, a 20% gratuity was added to my bill. They force you to tip because the service is awful. Ridiculous I will not be back.

Tabithah Thomson: Some of the best sushi I've had! I came here with my sister for Valentine's Day and it was an amazing experience. The service was great, atmosphere was amazing, food was delicious! Couldn't recommend more! Deep-fried cheesecake is an EXCELLENT dessert, 10/10 recommend.

My wife had the hot stone bowl bibimbap 🍲 and I had the sushi 🍣. Both were very good! Overall I would highly recommend Hikari to anyone looking for a good Japanese restaurant!
