Paul Gullick: We popped in for a light snack whilst visiting the city center. They've got a great range of beers, the location is perfect and there's plenty of space. However the service left a bit to be desired. Our waitress took ages with our drinks and forgot the 2nd round we ordered. The food was tasty though. As we'd travelled over from Wales this fell well short of the renowned American service levels we hear about and experienced else where.

Daniel Luscombe: I’ve been to Grand Trunk a dozen times over the years, sometimes with a group of friends or after/before weddings or events. Great food and atmosphere. So it was a natural choice when a group of us wanted to get drinks after a friends wedding. 5 Stars to the friendly and efficient bartender who served us! - However, it has been a long time since I’ve met servers that rude. The place was dead empty and we arrived in good spirits, certainly not unruly— and we were greeted like the plague! He whined and complained, slapped appetizers on the table (showering pickle chips on a guest) and said he was expecting another large party (who never did appear?) — I can honestly say we were pretty low maintenance, and the bartender quickly helped organize tabs and made sure we got drinks- I believe it is a bit of a wedding tradition to leave generous tips- so I hope she was the beneficiary of this! — If I ran Forans - I’d speak to your server— we felt so unwelcome we started looking for another spot, but luckily the bartender sorted it out pretty easy, so we could all have a nice time

Hana Fiore: I haven’t had a chance to eat here yet, but needed to leave a review on the employees or possible manager I believe I got to speak too today. I was grabbing pizza from next door and unfortunately blew a tire turning into the street. As soon as I pulled into a spot on the road he made sure I knew I had a flat. Went a grabbed my food, where then him and his friend met me and asked if I needed help but had told them I called my boyfriend who was coming to change the tire. His tools died and they happily let him charge them inside. After we couldn’t get them off he offered and brought us out pops while we tried to get the tire off before calling a tow truck. I have been parked next to his building for hours and even was told we were more than welcome inside to warm up. We will definitely make it a point to stop and get food from these wonderful people soon. Thank you so much for your kindness

Laurie McLachlan: I’ve lived so close to here for 5 years, and I am outraged I only now discovered this spot. I just ate the perfectly toasted, perfectly everything tuna melt. The rest of the menu looks great. Had no idea this is the same owner as Parc! I’m overjoyed it’s so darn delicious

Jessica Garvaglia: Terrible experience here. The food was great but the server did not let us know she couldn't give individual bills for groups of more than 4. We were there almost an hour while she figured out how to charge our credit cards individually, overcharged our credit cards, and caused us to miss a session of a conference we were attending. After returning to my home, hours away, my debit card charged and she scanned my card twice. Long story short, I paid $74.34 for shrimp tacos and a coke. Even after calling and speaking to the manager (and him saying he would remove one charge) the charge has not been reversed. Great food if you want to be ripped off and be forced to pay a big tip for unhelpful employees.

Ross Brown: Food was decent, what they had. They were out of boneless wings, out of french fries, out of 3 draft beers from their list, and that's just what we asked for. This is on a Saturday night at 8:30 pm. I had an Amber Bock draft and it was clear from the first sip that the tap had not been cleaned in awhile as it had the taste you can't mistake.. Their hours are until 10, but they last called us at 8:50 because the shift manager (Ethan) didn't want to stay open. They locked the doors after we came in and didn't want to serve us as they said the door was supposed to be locked already. We counted 10 people within 20 minutes that came to the door and we turned away. If you're closing early at least post it on the door. I felt bad for our waitress (Felicia) as she was very apologetic. Very disappointing.
Wasim Qazi: Anchor Bar is my favorite lunch spot to go to during the work week. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food is delightful. My favorite entrees here are the Fish and Chips as well as the Boom Bang Shrimp Tacos. The General Manager Stephanie is very attentive and a pleasure to see when we visit Anchor Bar.

Jacob Krogmeier: This is a special place unlike any other I have been to. A slice of old Detroit still alive and well. The drinks are great the beer is cold but it's the atmosphere that really sets this place apart. The cigar lounge is wonderful, well ventilated, cool and the walls are covered in historic DPD artifacts. I have been to a few events here which never disappoint. Also the door man is the best around. The outside seating area is nice and spacious when the weather is right and Eric brings in some serious talent to cook several times a year. Do yourself a favor and get down here!!

And yes, it IS haunted but not in a creepy way; chances are someone in your party will see something they can’t explain. (Last time a friend from out of town mentioned talking to the bathroom attendant -but they don’t have attendants!)If course the food is impeccable, yet they manage perfect service without seeming “stuffy”. Highly recommend for a special occasion or just dinner with some friends.

Ian Templeton: Very beautiful and surprisingly chill bar inside the Whitney mansion! The drinks are on the pricey side, but they are worth the price! I would suggest The Witching Hour if you like vodka. Even though The Whitney is a very formal restaurant, the bar is informal but in a very classy environment. If you’re looking for a great drinking experience in a place that makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time, this is the place to go! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Troy Kerby: Only complaint and it is very small. They only had 1 bartender for the night, and she had a ton of people to help. She did a great job, but it was tough getting service.
