Destiny Stevens: Service was wonderful! The waiter was very nice and great at his job. I ordered the fajitas and queso. Queso could use more seasoning but 95% of the customers in here seemed to be Caucasian so I understand the blandness. The fajitas were also pretty underseasoned, and the peppers in it were very crunchy and it had tomatoes in it 🤔. I was also surprised they didn't come with Pico on the side.

Service seemed like maybe they were a new server, so possibly some slack there but he wasn’t displaying customer service regardless if you want to think I’m some Karen or not- I’ve worked in restaurants especially Mexican ones and the chips were either double dropped in the oil or cooked for too long they were so gross, the refried beans were bland and the rice. Please go down the street or wait- it will be worth it, this place is not what the reviews say and I got bamboozled, by the food and the service.

Paul: Food was mid. The rice and beans were cold and you could tell they've been out since open. Not enough dishes to give us chips in a bowl(the chips were old and double dropped, or old and cooked too long), it was not the vibe. The wait staff was cold and impersonal. There were greasy food runners running around eating on the floor too mean mugging people. Servers didn't pre bus a single table. Fire the servers and promote your bussers. Our server stopped by to take our order and drop a check. I'll just go to taco bell next time and save myself the hassle.This place did not really meet any expectations, except that the food is edible

I called yesterday to let them know and was told that they did not take reservations and there may be a wait - OK.Come today, shortly before 11am, they send someone outside to tell us that they are not taking any school groups and that we need to leave. I explained that I called the day before, but the owner said no, we would be allowed in the restaurant.I asked to speak to the owner and went in. He was across the restaurant and was yelling to me that he isn't taking a school group. He asked if we had a reservation. I informed him of the day before, and he said they already have a group. We were refused entry. I was told that if I was in a bad mood, I could go and eat somewhere else.It makes me wonder if we were refused entry and service becuase 100% of my students are African American? Were we refused service for another reason - because 1 table of 14 is too much compared to, oh IDK, 4 tables of 4? I don't think they closed down, but they refused to allow us in.Here is what I do know. I take back every good thing I have EVER aid about that restaurant and WILL NEVER go there again, ever! I will shout from the rooftops to everyone who will listen to NEvER GO THERE. Racist, rude, condescending, downright nasty people!!So, I had to go and tell my students we had to go somewhere else - and we did! Xochimilco Restaurant opened, welcomed us in, and did a fantastic job for my students! I would’ve given 5 stars but with the staff complaining about other staff right in front of us and a manager literally reprimanding an employee in front of us was disappointing, however, the food is hot, delicious and fast. I still have yet to find any Mexican restaurant that can beat it, even the near by ones, I’ve tried them all.

John Jester: This is possibly my favorite Detroit restaurant, which is saying quite a bit with all of the delicious and amazing places in the city. But the food is incredible with Italian and Mexican cuisine that chef Norberto makes feel both authentic and fresh. with individual recipes of both food types that are as authentic as if you went to your Noona's or your Abuelita's house. As well as fusions that are creative and delicious. The service is absolutely impeccable as well. Very kind and attentive but not overbearing or intrusive, with several of the higher up staff taking absolute interest in the quality of the service as well as the quality of the food. Our server juan was fantastic, He helped me make my daughter's birthday dinner amazing, and I had given him no prior warning so his helpfulness was absolutely unexpected but so appreciated . And this was with a retirement party and a engagement celebration going on in the same area we were in and he still made it incredibly special for her. This is a place where people come to make each other happy .....I could probably write an entire review on just the turkey leg in molé, or the gnocchi..... But if you follow any of my advice it is to please stop reading this now and go try the food at this place.Vegetarian options: The entire menu is sorted by the type of components in the meal from vegetarian to different types of meat. The staff are very knowledgeable about all of the individual dishes so you will almost never encounter a question that they can't immediately answer at your table. They do have a large selection of vegetarian options as well as vegetarian options that are prepared without meat, sauces or possibly harder to detect meat such as stock or bullion that may not be listed on the menu.Kid-friendliness: There is not a person on the planet. These people are not friendly too, they have a large outdoor patio area that is covered by a roof which makes for kid friendly areas as well as tables that allow you to have space.Parking: They have a large fenced parking lot in the back that is very secure, and the parking enters directly to the back of the building. The only issue that is presented is that the alley to find the parking is a little bit difficult to see when coming from the neighborhood rather than off of the main boulevard. There are large signs that indicate where it is as well as street parking that is available on two of the sides of the building. Upwards of 50 spots, as well as street parking for up to 30 cars within a 1 minute walk of the buildingWheelchair accessibility: The parking lot behind the building has no step access into the building as well as no step access to the bathrooms, there is an exterior patio that most of the seating is on. On that is a solid tiled floor with no restrictions. Save for a few vertical posts It is quite easily traversible by anyone with ambulatory issues

Our server was training two young ladies so we understood the longer than usual wait for drinks and food but we were one of two tables at the restaurant on a Tuesday and had to ask for things multiple times and still never got them. Coffee was left cold and empty many times. Food was cold before we could even get a bite. Very disappointing visit this last time. Hopefully when we try again, it'll be back to its normal amazing-ness!

Carolina Centlivre: El Barzon has become a nice elegant over price restaurant. The service is fast and staff is friendly and courteous. I ordered tamarindo Margarita $16 and lasagna $28, i didn’t know it came a la cart. It had a Mexican spice taste i didn’t expect. A couple of years ago it came with a salad. Many change I didn’t expect.

My only complaint would be that the service can be a little slow. We had a group of 12 and ordered some bottles of wine for the table. It took about 45 mins before our two waitresses took our food order. Once the food was ordered, it came out fairly quickly! Overall, recommend this place but be aware of possible slower service.

They even brought out 2 delicious deserts with Sparklers on top and put in front of my husband & son's gf while everyone sang Happy birthday to the both of them. RICH “BIG RICH” Cisneros: This is a hometown favorite to many. If you want the best tamales in town, you go to Evies. When I was married, I used to drive all the way from Warren to eat breakfast here every Sunday. They have 99 cent breakfast burritos and a great breakfast . The chilequilles are really good and the posole soup is a must. They have a good-sized menu with the standard Mexican dishes. The tamales u can buy by the dozen ready to eat or frozen. Out of the surrounding Mexican restaurants, this one is one of the better ones. It's a smaller place and quaint. Not bustling like or overly busy. I have the pleasure of knowing this family , as they are good people with good values. Overall anyone will enjoy the great food and atmosphere here. Come see for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

G S: My family and I have been coming here since before i could walk or drive myself here. One word, TAMALES. Get. Them. They are always so good😭 the hot sauce is nicely spiced, the beans are as they should be, the rice is never dry. For the menudo lovers this is your place as well, they are always straight forward badda boom badda bang you know why you came and you got what you needed. Great prices for a dozen fresh tamales, this place is a neighborhood holy grail, definitely make a stop here and enjoy the vibes and enjoy the food.

Nisha Y: First time visiting. The dish I ordered wasnt that great. The drinks are pretty strong. The server forgot parts of my party’s order. He never came to check on us. We had to flag him down each time we needed something. I asked to pay by card and went to give it to him because he said he can take it at that very moment but he walked away and took 10 mins to come back. My bill was $37 and change. He charged my card for $42 and change. When he took my card he added a bowl of chili that I didnt order. He gave me the price of the chili back out of his “tips” because he didnt want to call a manager to fix his mistake. If I visit this place again I know to avoid that server and pay in cash.

val effect: Food was horrible! Our server was pleasant though. I ordered the California burrito and was excited about all the listed ingredients, but VERY DISAPPOINTED THOUGH! NO SAUCE COMES INSIDE AND IT'S RIDICULOUSLY DRY! COMES WITH SOME KIND OF WATERY LOOKING SALSA that was not flavorful! Was waaay too much cilantro in it overpowering the other foods. Definitely not worth my time or money! Outright nasty! First time last time eating here. Then, the Dr Pepper WASN'T DR PEPPER! Can't fool my palette! Tasted like something made by Shasta or other imitation store brand! Tried to add sour cream and the other salsa to help, BUT IT DIDN'T!! This is about as authentic as Taco Bell! Won't let me add my photos for some reason...Parking: Horrible parking lot as well!
