Joe McCarty: This was not a great experience. I had the majority of my interior walls painted and a lot of new molding caulked. Tara, the owner, had two helpers, one of whom dropped a couple f-bombs while in the house and told me how much she hated painting, while the other was an amateur who had to be coached on how to hold a brush. At one point I asked them to not drip water on my new wood floors, and Tara’s first response was “that’s impossible.” They did wear masks while working as a COVID precaution, which I appreciated.Once the job was done, there were numerous quality issues. I expect any paint job to need touch ups, but this was beyond normal. I pointed a few out on their last day here, and Tara fixed them. In the days after they left, I found dozens more spots that had issues. The main problem was they only did one coat on most of the walls despite the invoice committing to two coats, so there were many missing patches of paint. I asked Tara for a refund for the non-existent second coat and she declined, despite charging extra for an unexpected third coat one one portion of the molding. It seemed fair to me that I should pay extra for an unexpected third coat on one part of the job, and get a refund for an unexpected lack of a second coat on most of the job, but no.The final task was painting an interior door, which Tara was going to have to come back to do because the door wasn’t yet installed. Between the day they left when the walls were complete and the day she was supposed to come back to paint the door, I emailed Tara again asking for a refund for the second coat, citing the many places where paint was thin or missing. I fixed a lot on my own, but one was at the top of a 2-story wall that I couldn’t reach. Tara responded by agreeing to refund the second coat, which was fair. She then told me she had forgotten to put the interior door on the invoice and was “under no obligation to return,” even though I had specifically asked for help touching up the spot on the 2-story wall. (Even though I had now only paid for one coat, that one coat should still come with needed touchups.) I agreed to take the small refund (less than 10% of the invoice) and not have them come back, just to be done dealing with this company.Over this summer I spent $70K on home renovations and hired several companies.
