Melody Piano Detroit: what do users think?
Kent Butler: The TLDR is I paid for two months and only received two lessons and haven't received any of my money back. It's been longer than a week since her reply, and she still hasn't contacted me.The first lesson things started out a bit out of the ordinary to say the least. I thought I was taking lessons in her studio downtown but the lessons were rescheduled the day of in a sketchy multi-use house on East Grand near I-96. During the first lesson we spent some time getting to know each other, her experience and what I wanted out of the sessions. Which seemed pretty standard, and was putting me at ease being at the location. Something that was a bit unusual was hey consumption of the wine available at the home. The lesson was only supposed to last 45 mins and went on for 2 and a half hours! Admittedly I learned a lot that first lesson and let excited to learn more. The day of the second lesson, I receive a text 45 mins to an hour before the lesson asking to reschedule because she was running behind. We were able to reschedule for the next day. A slight inconveniences but I was able to accommodate without issues. During that lesson we were able to get to the piano quicker, she was not consuming alcohol and things were great. Once again the class was only supposed to last 45 mins, and went on for two hours! The day of the third class, I receive a text as I'm getting ready to head over to lessons asking to reschedule for Saturday. I'm beginning to see a pattern at this point... Frustrated and without a choice I abide. During that week, I found an electric piano on Craigslist and begin practicing, and inform Suzan of the good news! When Saturday rolls around Suzan informs me that she doesn't have a location for her to teach me, she tells me that the downtown studio is under renovations and she doesn't have access to the East Grand location. She asks if we are able to hold lessons at my house, reschedule again, or get payment back for that lesson. At this point I'm getting really frustrated with the situation, I had paid for the partial month and the following month. I requested from get that I would like my payment back for that day because I can't away accommodate rescheduling and I can't rely on her holding reschedule. If you are wondering why I didn't hold it at my house, I have three dogs, two cats and a partner that works out of the dinning room. It's not the most conducive place for having lessons. The fourth and final "lesson". On this day I had not heard from Suzan, I had a thought that something may be up but giving her the benefit of the doubt I arrive to lessons early. After knocking on the door, I'm greeted by someone I've never met before. When informing hey why I'm there she send confused and doesn't seem to recognize the Suzan's name. She called someone on her phone and shortly after a gentleman comes down from upstairs wearing pajamas and informs me that Suzan no longer holds lessons at that location anymore. I'm both dumbfounded and not surprised at hearing this. I asked the guy if he found her to be flakey and he agreed. At this point I'm extremely frustrated and fed up with Suzan. I'm also extremely disappointed because she is a good instructor, but my schedule isn't going to allow for her inconcistent lessons. When I texted her and asked where she was, her response began with 'I forgot'. In my response I told her that I want to end my lessons and she tried to be accommodation by offering free lessons, but what good are free lessons if she can't even attend the ones I'm paying for? I asked for a refund. That was Thanksgiving of 2019. In my refund I informed her that it didn't need to be a full refund because of the long lessons she gave me in our first two session but she would need to refund me the full month we didn't hold. It's now December 29th. I have not heard from her in several weeks, even after she told me she would refund my money.I'm writing this because I believe that this may be a scam that she is running and I don't want anyone else to fall for it.
Mark Kerrigan: Suzan is a great teacher. I would recommend Melody Piano Detroit to anyone who asked me!
Sonya Walker: Not sure
Mylife Journal: Suzan's a great piano teacher! She's very flexible with me and the songs I want to learn. I'm surprised at how much I've learned in the time I have. It's only been a year and I feel like I can finally call myself a musician. I'm still building my confidence to perform at a recital. Suzan never pressures me to perform though and that helps a lot. I definitely recommend Melody Piano Detroit to anyone beginning to play the piano! Suzan is an amazing piano teacher!
Stacey Anne: Ms Susie was my daughters former music teacher. Ms Susie took a break from lessons and when we resumed our lessons she was scheduled to resume private home lessons once again. I submitted my payment for my daughter to resume her lesson and paid for one month. She never showed up. Never returned my emails. Never refunded my money and never returned and of my Messages via Facebook Messenger. She is a scam artist. She says she was scammed in life so I guess she saw no other way but to become what she truly was. STAY AWAY!!! I have each email and all of the screen shot communications that she never responded to. STAY AWAY!!!! Ms Susie you should really be ashamed of yourself. You did all of nothing for $120.00. Ridiculous If I could give anything less than 1 Star I would.
Jared Renicio: Great instructor! I've been wanting to learn the piano since I was a kid. Instructor Pleva helped me understand theory, and my sight reading. I was trying to use online tutorials and youtube videos, but it just wasn't working. I'm glad I finally spent the money to take actual lessons. Worth it

GROSSE POINTE MUSIC ACADEMY: what do users think?
Nicole Phillips: Excellent staff. Easy to make appointment for sessions. Clean & warm environment.
Juanita Allen: Piano lessons for my GrandSun, Quince Jr.
Sweet ViolaChick: Great place to work at as a teacher, and wonderful atmosphere for clients of all ages to learn. The owner is awesome, and staff here at the front desk are exceptionally accommodating in every situation. I highly recommend working here and/or getting music lessons!
Vincent Riegler: Friendly people are here
Carrie A.F. Nantais: Our boys starting taking lessons via Zoom in October 2020 due to COVID and we have had the best experience with our teacher, Ms. Haley! She has been patient, engaging and able to give quality instruction. We are likely going to stay with this format for a while because it is so convenient. In addition, the communication with staff at the school has been great -- quick, responsive and helpful. Highly recommend GP Music Academy!
Jeffrey Stine: We are long time customers an could not imagine going anywhere else. Professional, friendly and just an all around excellent environment for music education.
Georgetta Bond: Awesome staff. My daughter LOVES and looks forward to her piano lesson each week.
Ashish Ahlawat: I’d like to share a very pleasant experience with the academy. I go to the location in Grosse Pointe. First, I want to start by saying how talented and what a wonderful teacher and a coach Cheryl is. I believe, that I have improved ten fold ( that is, including my peers) since I’ve started taking lessons with her. Second, Kala, the desk manager Is also exceptionally good at handling every possible situation I’ve dealt with the academy. Last, but not the least, after have been attending the academy for a while, I had run into a little hiccup with some other person at the reception, to which the owner of the academy was not only very understanding, but also very accommodating and generous with handling the situation. I’d like thank all of you for making this a wonderful experience. And please keep up the great work! 👍🏼
Boch Suson: My kids have been taking music lessons for few years now at Grosse Pointe Music Academy. Since then my wife and I have noticed improvements with their musical performance and self confidence. Thanks and Great job!
Kaltrina Lleshaj: I take my girls for Piano lessons and my son for Drum lessons. Their teachers are so nice and patient. Grosse Pointe music Academy is an amazing place to take your children music lessons. Everyone is so nice and helpful with everything. Love this place and I highly recommend it.
Jennifer Perry: Wonderful place and the teachers are kind and patient, highly recommend. My sons look forward to their lessons every week!
Matthew Nickel: This is really comfortable place to learn music. Great people, nice environment, and they have music together for young children. Just love it. Look out for the meters in front during the day though, the city issues tickets a little too easily. I know the music studio has asked the city to be gentle on their clients.
Evyeni Geno Keramaris (Geno Has Something To Say): I absolutely love teaching here. A great environment for both kids and adults. Our desk girl/secretary Kala is absolutely awesome. Our owner Henry is a very kind and good man. I am proud to teach here and highly recommend all of our staff to work with you or your kids. The efficiency with which both Henry and Kala manage to run this place is unprecedented.
Brynn Jezdimir: My family has had a wonderful experience with the hummingbird music together class. My children 2 &1 have a new appreciation for beats and love going to class. I would recommend for all ages!!!
Scott: For all guitar repairs. A big shout out to Dave (Master Luthier at GP Music Academy). Dave has worked on several of my guitars and I have been impressed with the consistent quality of his work. Most recently, I had a guitar that was unplayable. Dave turned it into one of my favorites.
Christina Partalis: My 10-month old daughter, Gabriella, loves her Music Together classes! We listen to the CDs at home and in the car so she's familiar with the music when we're in class. It's amazing how she recognizes the songs and dances to the beat! Thank you, Miss Sarah and Miss Emily! :)
Barika Butler: GPMA, Music Together and Ms Sarah have been WONDERFUL!!!! My daughter LOVES Ms Sarah and her energy! She asks about her all the time and is always excited to go to class. She has been through 5 sessions now and always is eager to return. She has developed amazing rhythm and loves exploring a number of musical instruments. I am confident that Music Together has had a lot to do with this love for music and making music. I hope to continue our relationship with the classes for years to come.
Stephanie Witte: Attending Music Together with my son has been such an amazing experience, and continues to be something we look forward to each semester. We started attending class when he was 8 months old and within weeks his love for music and dance was abundantly clear. I have no doubt in my mind that these classes are cultivating a real passion for music and rhythm in him that may not have developed quite the way it is without Music Together. It has created so many lasting memories for our family, both in class and out, as it has encouraged us to incorporate singing, dancing, playing instruments and general fun into our daily lives with music. I can't recommend this program enough!
Melissa Keagle: We participated in the Big Kid Music Together class and it allowed our daughter to enter the world of music with confidence. Through experiencing concepts such as tempo, rhythm, and improvisation, the class helped prepare her for the structure and skills needed for piano playing. The introduction to music concepts was key, but it also opened the door to the creative output of making music. She now very much enjoys playing piano and making music her own.
Jennifer Baranski: We had my daughter's 7th birthday at GPMA earlier this month and it was a blast!!!! The kids had so much fun, learning rhythm and trying out all the instruments. Toepher and Dave were great instructors and helpful throughout the entire party. My friends and family loved it and said how creative and fun it was. I would highly recommend GPMA as an option for a birthday event. And, piano lessons may be in my daughter's future at GPMA! Great place and very inspiring!
Vanessa Dietderich: My daughter is taking voice lessons through the GPMA with De'Sean. I have absolutely nothing but wonderful things to say about him and the entire staff. After my daughter leaves her lesson she is enthusiastic to practice and improve but more importantly her confidence in herself and her progress is bolstered which is no doubt due to the superior teaching style of her instructor. I have seen first hand the other instructors styles and lessons as well and can with confidence say they are all true professionals with a passion for teaching and the ability to connect with students.

DIME Detroit (Detroit Institute of Music Education): what do users think?
DMK: We were there in Fall of 2019. Our hotel’s breakfast closed early so, we walked down the street to The Dime. There was a wait but it was well worth it. Great service, great food, cool atmosphere and friendly owners. Our family group of six were well treated and everyone enjoyed our food. The only drawback would be that it is not a very big place but they make up for it with charisma.
Denise Davis: I love Antea, and the fruit she produces. This is an incredible training ground for vocal and musically inclined individuals! God bless this institution!
Kevin Lewis: Went to open house with my daughter and was very impress with the culture. You can feel the excitement and love of music that the faculty have. Looking forward to my daughter attending this fine establishment.
Charlies Talent: This is the most amazing school for music that opened in Detroit. All equipment and facilities are brand new and top of the line teachers. Very impressed, I highly suggest a tour for any musician looking to learn or enhance their craft!

The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music®: what do users think?
Ananda Ami: in love.I been going here for almost 2 months and it just feels so familiar and new and exciting every visit. I have improved in my vocals so much thanks to my teacher Sherry! she's so enthusiastic, kind, passionate, and educated on her crafts. I am someone with HUGE anxiety but I am telling you coming here you will not feel that sense. I've already improved so much it's honestly scary. Sad that it's once a week and 30 minute sessions but that's totally acceptable and appropriate but it's honestly so dope you'd wanna be here 24/7 cause you learn and have fun at the same time. Covid-19 protocols are in place and safe staff are vaccinated and wear masks. While singing with Sherry we both maintain distance as much as possible and wear clear face shields they have plenty provided as well due to being able to see vocal technique and to hear clearly) so that is not a worry. Not to mention it is a clean space and is affordable for families. I love it here3
Ed Hopkins: This state-of-the-art facility is efficiently and professionally run and maintained, and all current health and safety guidelines are well in place and practiced. It's a work space that any artist and technician can walk into with confidence, and know that whatever the goal at hand is, be it lessons or recording sessions, the outcome is bound to be successful.
Donnie Kellerman: I've been a local on & off gigging musician for 35 yrs & didn't know this place ever existed!! I'm glad it's here!!!
Shane Barry: If you're thinking about getting into music, DSRP rocks. The staff are super kind and willing to work with any level of musician. I had never held a guitar prior to my first class and they make approaching music a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be.Ray is my guitar teacher and I would highly recommend him. He has given me insight into music theory, but made the topic manageable for me with my available time to play. Highly recommend DSRP is you're looking to get into music.
Adam Bowden: Best place in town for rehearsal space! Their studio is top notch!
Mirror Image: We love the DSRP!!! My boys have excelled so much since they began taking lessons and joined a band 3 years ago. We drive an hour each week from Grosse Ile and it is definitely worth it!
Anthony Lupone: DSRP is the musical ‘glue’ of Royal Oak! Both my kids have been taking lessons for years with Julie and Steve and both are awesome. They have a knack for sneaky teaching, making the kids better while they don’t even know it! When my son came home and asked to listen to and play Rolling Stones tunes, I knew we were at the right palace. Thanks DSRP for all the cool stuff you do!
Megan Mccarthy: My son has been going to the Detroit School of Rock and Pop since he was 7 years old. He is now a senior in high school and an incredible musician and singer as a result of the amazing jobsHis teachers and mentors did at DSRP.His band has played all over the city and he’s experienced live broadcasts and wonderful events full of interesting people. The support he received through this program not only helped him grow artistically, but as a person as well. Shout out to Julie, Rocco, Jason, and Sherry for helping to guide Cole in his musical career. He has loved every minute of it and we have too.God bless this awesome school!!!
Mike Glaza: Absolutely the best around! Jason, Sherry, Mike, and all the mentors at DSRP are fantastic. Our son started with their Summer Rocks! summer camp in 8th grade and continued with lessons until graduating from High School. The time and attention that he received from DSRP is invaluable, and Jason even helped us apply for aid from the Live The Music Foundation to assist us in keeping his lessons going when we couldn't afford it on our own. Today, he is pursuing a career as a professional musician and has many opportunities open to him thanks in large part to the training, mentoring, and connections he received at DSRP.I can't say enough good things about them. Thank you Jason, Sherry, Mike and everyone at DSRP! You all rock!
Mikey Kimball: I have personally played gigs with many teenagers who came out of this program and they play like professionals, with top-notch proficiency and excellent attitudes! I recommend this place more than any other in the Metro Detroit area!

Ray Daniels House of Music: what do users think?
K M: I am a former student of Ray Daniels House of Music. I was in need of advancement and upgrading in gospel organ. Bro. Daniels and Bro. Glen worked with me for a couple of years and I am very pleased with the results. Have been ministering in music at various churches for many years. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to learn gospel piano or organ. You won't be disappointed.

David Rodgers Music: what do users think?
Lindsey Ellison: I had David do a library program for me and my patrons really enjoyed the program. The music David played was a great mix and he was very knowledgeable about the history of motown.
Oli: David is an excellent pianist. He is truly well versed in all genres. Simply put, if there's sheet music, he can play it regardless of style. Additionally, David is an excellent communicator. No matter how challenging the music, he always finds a way to break things down into easy to understand concepts. Lastly, I appreciate how David let me select my music as opposed to imposing his choices on me.
Elijah Harbut: I started lessons with David during the Summer of my freshman year. After having pretty negative experiences with other teachers, I was looking for a complete change of pace. I really couldn’t keep tempo, and most of my musical knowledge was spotty at best, even after having taken lessons for like 7 years. He completely switched the experience around for me. David is super caring, empathetic, and knowledgeable about his craft; I can not recommend him highly enough. Three years later, I’m able to sit down, look at a piece of music, and play it well- in front of other people! Lessons were always a joy to look forward to- I got to choose the pieces I learned, and was able to quickly progress from playing songs out of books to music by Philip Glass and Debussy. He really brings out the best in each student.Playing piano has really helped me through my “tumultuous teens,” as it provided a way to sublimate pretty much all my negative emotions. I play when I’m happy, I play when I’m sad, I play when I want to learn something new or be creative; David inspired and nurtured this attitude. If you want to acquire a lifelong passion for music and understand why it is written a certain way, or if you want your child to learn discipline and the power of individual thinking in a fun, warm, and nurturing environment, David is hands-down the best teacher in the area.Furthermore, the annual recital that each of David’s students participate in is fantastic at instilling confidence in one’s own ability. I really was self-conscious about my playing, but the gains I have received from putting myself “out there” in front of a crowd multiple years in a row have bled into other areas of my life. I can definitely say I’m a more confident person as a direct result.10/10, would 100% do again
