Liz Smith: A friend recommened them but they dropped the ball on customer service in such a weird way. Reached out for a consultation with one artist in May and a month later I hadn't heard back. I called to ask and they promised to deliver the message to him. Barely a minute after I hung up, I magically got an email from him saying he was going through submissions from May and everyone else was waitlisted. But I submitted my request in May? I felt really snubbed and confused and it unfortunately has cost them a customer. Super rude guys.

Patrick Runkle: Super impressed with Steve. True professional at his craft. He did not rush the stencil. We looked a couple different sizes and anatomical graphics to get this right. He also had to hear my wierd thoughts on life, so props to him. The shop however is a nice clean building, which I appreciate from a health and sterile perspective, but they keep thier front door locked. It just looks like a closed up shop from the outside. Please update your covid policy to make a more open and welcome environment.

Brooks Weber: To be clear, my experience took place in 2019 and was motivated by the death of my folks. It was to be my first tattoo and sleeve and I traveled an hour from the east-side to Iconic. I made an appt with Andrea based on her online samples and a connection to my Dad, who had taught at CCS where Andrea attended. I came in for my appt and showed her my ideas. She took a $200 deposit, committed to working on concept and scheduled me out several weeks. She later called/texted me saying she was moving and her sister was having a baby so she had no art or concept yet. She said if she didn’t complete them before appt., we could reschedule. I asked her to email me some examples before I drove another hour into the city. No provided no follow up communication. I later got a call from studio mgr telling me I missed an appt. After explaining what had occurred, he had Andrea speak to me and she said “her professional policy” was not to email art or discuss prior to an appt...then she asked me to drive in and if I didn’t like it, I could reschedule. No explanation of this at first meeting or in subsequent communication. I’m a 60 yr old Army veteran spending in excess of $1000 for my first tattoo to basically commemorate my family, she knew this, but acted insensitive and unprofessional. Lastly, Andrea’s speech was slurred in several conversations. It made me feel she was not reliable and was throwing my concept together at last minute. In the end, they refused to show me ANY art or concept or refund my deposit. I’m told she’s gone now but the owner/mgr of the shop at the time should have done right by me, either refund my money or refer me to another artist.

Alexandra Chisholm: I came to see Rich last month for a double flat piercing and had a great experience. He was extremely knowledgeable about what would and wouldn't work with my ear shape, and very patiently went over all my options with me. He was very gentle and explained everything as he was doing it, and worked with very sharp needles which made the pain far less than I expected. Move and Shake: Stopped by at the end of 2017 for a re-ink of a tattoo, Matt was as cordial and cool as he was back in the day when he first did the work. Seth Kleinglass: Great shop downtown right on Michigan Avenue. They have a number of very good artists working here. Each has a unique style but they all work together very well. I liked the vibe of the shop too. Everyone was friendly and the girl working up front (sorry I didn’t get her name) was awesome to work with. They are very clean, knowledgeable with their craft and have very good rates too. I have been looking for a new shop for a while and this is my spot! So far I have had work from Buddy and Jay and it has been a great experience. Ill be back.

She aske to send a pic of my tattoo as I only wanted a rise I already have colored in and outlined. She texted back and was very dismissive saying "we don't have anybody that has time to do that today. Thanks for reaching out". Which was a bit off-putting to me as there is a sign on the door saying they take walk ins. So if I am basically the first call they have gotten for the day and they take walk ins how would every single already be booked up. How are they taking walk ins then. Mary did not even attempt to schedule me for another day. When I asked to speak to a manager she said none was available. I would assume the business owners are in business to attract business. When I called her back Mary was dismissive and laughed at my concerns. I did not receive good customer service. I am very disappointed
TDEX: I have been getting tattooed by James Maxwell for over 8 years now and have over 15 tattoos done by him. Every interaction that i have had with James has been top notch. He is very professional, knowledgeable and in my opinion, one of the best tattooers out there. Driving an hour to get tattooed by him at Electric Park is completely worth it. Its a great shop right next to Eastern Market. I can enthusiastically recommend James 5/5 stars. Go see him, you wont regret it!Service:Tattoos

Deja Holden: Horrible! DO NOT GO HERE FOR PIERCINGS!! He’s careless and unknowledgeable. I went to get my ears pierced and they sit completely different from each other. The jewelry he used was too short. My whole earlobe is swollen and sinking in to the hole after 3 week of my piercing. I went back to get it looked it and he told me everything was fine while my whole ear was red swollen and skin flaking he didn’t notice I was having a reaction I had to go to another place shop that was very informative and professional. I was informed that my piercing is pierced at the wrong angle. And that I was having a bad reaction from the jewelry they used. So I decided to take them out to close. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! John Brown: Would never use this place again. (Try to make a long story short) I called to make an appointment and they told me to email them. I emailed with someone name John. I sent him pictures of what I wanted and described in detail what I was looking for. I walked in on the day of my appointment and they gave me a guy name Ryan to work with. He quoted me a price that was waayy to high but I allways heard good things about this place and we all know the saying "you get what you pay for" so I was hoping for a great quality tattoo. Needless to say that wasn't the case. I got home, looked in the mirror, took some pictures of it from different angles and was not satisfied at all. I called to voice my frustration and they told me to come in. Upon returning I expressed how the tattoo was missing details from the picture I showed them, expressed how I was expecting better quality for the price I was paying. Ryan demanded that I pay more for finishing the detail he left out. I told him I was not going to do that. He went and got John. John lied to my face telling me he was just a guy who helped Ryan. After explaining my situation I asked for the owner and then John finally told the truth and said he was the owner. WORST TATTOO EXPERIENCE EVER!Service:Tattoos

Gwendolyn Foster: I went to this shop just to get my piercing put back in my eye brow, they told me it would cost $10.00 bucks, no problem, we went to the back room, the guy tried to tell me I might need another piercing, because it might have closed up I told him No I just took the eye ring out when I came in, he seemed upset, he proceeded to put my piercing in I paid and I left , later that night when I went to sleep, I whipped my face and the ball fell out in my bed, he never tightened the little Ball ! I think he did it on Purpose, because I didn’t want another piercing, or maybe he don’t like People of Color. SAD ! BAD Service !

Jae’s Thoughts: This is coming from someone who does customer service audits frequently! The woman at the front desk who buzzed me in was very helpful and nice, as for the artist “Keith“ he had a very unwelcoming spirit when I told him exactly what I wanted. Very shady and completely rude about my previous tattoos done by another artist. He then told me what I should get instead of what I wanted. Keith if you see this then you need to brush up on your customer service skills. You may do some good work but your unwelcoming spirit definitely pushed me in another direction for tattoo work.

Renee Thomas: I am giving this rating because me and my sisters came in there Saturday for Candi's special she was running for the mom's. The receptionist was very nice as we was trying to get clarity about the deal that was being ran however didn't get to catch the man who was the piecer name but he was very nasty and rude to the point we walked out and left because his rudeness was truly unprofessional and I will never spend money where I feel disrespected and i just couldn't believe someone could be so rude to customers coming there to spend money. I also let candi know and she apologized and was willing to accommodate us but I couldn't bring myself to come back there so I definitely respect her for trying to fix it but that "man" that works there truly needs to learn how to be professional and also learn how to speak to women period!!!

I chalked up the cheap price to the fact that the piercer wasn’t all that friendly and didn’t give any aftercare instructions. Recently went to get my septum and lobes, again it was cheap, but staff wasn’t hospitable, I wasn’t asked to check my lobe placement, I wasn’t asked what diameter septum I wanted, and later went to a different piercer to switch out jewelry and they confirmed that my cartilage was pierced.Service:Piercings
