We take care of a lot of Cats over on the 9500 block of Auburn and when I say they helped us they really came through and for that these people are loved. I couldn’t recommend this facility any more. Rachel Navarro: I was being required to spayed my animals just to get on the food program. I was spoken to in a nasty judging manner when I called to schedule them in. Make it make sense, this lady working the phones tues 1/24/23 at 10:34 was very rude to me. All of a sudden it changed to me having to pay when I am low income and their requirements are made and now I’m responsible to pay I will just go to another program and leave my thoughts here. The Michigan human society gives food to low income households every Tuesday and Thursday before 2pm with a state medical or orange card (bridge). And also have low spaying prices. This place needs to retrain their employees because I know the information that was given to me, so my follow up call I should not have been treated as less than a person because I was seeking help.

Emma: -100000000000000 stars. Called at 1130 am Monday. This lady was nasty as soon as she answered the call and I waited over 20 minutes in a queue. I have a rescue that will help me take in the dog, but apparently they don't help catch dogs you just make a "complaint" which I wasn't trying to do. And they come out within a few days to come get the dog.

Walked up on me I have a video that I since made a police report on for him threatening me on. Was told by the police station legally they can not refuse a animal if they have room also was told that I would not receive a ticket if I had left Them the confused little boy was aggressive and I could have left them. All because his parents didn’t teach him respect now he is going to have a case. Because the police I am not allowed to share the photos and videos.

LaDena Brantley: We had a stray cat in our garage that was in need of serious medical attention. We called them to come and get the cat for two days. They told us that they won't pick up the cat unless it was confined in a box or container. We took the necessary steps into confining the cat and call them back and told we did and to send them back to pickup the cat....they never came to get the cat. Unfortunately the cat died in container in our garage.

You park on the street and walk up. Many cats are in foster homes and you can submit an application online. Staff here are friendly, warm and personable. You can buy drinks or get free coffee or tea with 15 dollar donation. Very pleasant way to visit kitties ans donate even if you do not want to adopt.

Tobi's Channel: I am very confused with Ferndale Cat Shelter's process of adoption. Our family visited the website and my daughters chose two single cats (unbonded).We then visited the Catfe and were told that one of the cats wasn't a good fit and that we should be looking at a bonded pair. We initially were recommended a bonded pair that was already pending adoption and had to search for another. We then had a Zoom meet and greet with two other cats we found at their foster home. We set up a physical meet and greet, but the worker assigned to help my adoption said, via text, that because my oldest would eventually move out, she didn't feel a bonded pair would fit and that the physical meet and greet was placed on hold. This back and forth is not good for my daughters and I am very frustrated with this process. My girls then found two separate cats that are not "bonded". Now, the same worker says that she could not adopt these cats or ANY cats to us because they will "become bonded eventually" after the Catfe and the worker suggested and pushed a bonded pair onto our family. I told the worker that my girls will not live with us forever, it would be 5 to 10 years down the line. The worker stated they did not feel comfortable adopting to our family because of changing answers on our part. I also said that I feel this is a case of discrimination and for her to cease contacting me further. I am very sad that I have to disappoint my girls, again! I do NOT recommend adopting or supporting FCS. I am choosing one star because I can't rate any lower.

Philip DelGrosso: They went above and beyond to help me out in a stressful situation. My beloved unneutered cat Luigi escaped by accident and I thought he was lost forever they came and set a trap with a camera for him but that did not work however i kept leaving food out for him to keep him in the area. 2 weeks went by and thought is was hopeless but lo ad behold when I pulled into my driveway he was in my garage I was able to trap him. I contacted FCS they came and put him in his cat carrier something I was unable to do picked him up and held him in their shelter until the vet was able to neuter him. And even dropped him off back to me. They went above and beyond to help me out of a stressful situation. Highly recommended!!!

Scaredy Cats: Wanted to give FAMD a five start rating, because we've had nothing but great experiences with them. A few years ago, we brought my brother in law there to get his first pet ever and she is fantastic. The staff and volunteers were all so caring for the animals, and it shown. On April first, we came back for a cat of our own. We wanted to help a kitty that had been there for a bit, and their excitement over her getting her forever home was the sweetest thing. We've only had her for a couple days now, and she's such a loving girly. You can tell she was much loved while there, by the staff and volunteers. They let us stay past closing to finish up the paperwork and helped us with borrowing a carrier to fit her, since ours was too small. Would always recommend theese guys, they care for and love the animals for sure and are here to help them find their furrever homes.

Shamira Sinclair: Me and my family went to this adoption place because they were having an adoption event everything seemed fine until we walked in and we were the only black family in the building, now thats fine because that would be expected considering the area we live in. But the issue was every animal we wanted to see they seemed have an excuse for but other people seemed to be able to see them. We didn’t feel welcomed at all and it was just an uncomfortable experience, my brother just wanted to see a few dogs and barely saw any because they keep them hidden away yet this is supposed to be an adoption event?

One-on-one meetings are scheduled to determine compatibility before adoption can take place.Every Saturday there are viewings for the purpose of adopting. Cats/kittens 10-11 am and dogs/ puppies 1-2 pm.

My family cat Bruce who was renamed “Barthalamule“by staff was lost he was found and dropped off at this location… My family had been searching for him for about three weeks we finally found a page on Facebook for lost pets that led us to knowing he was dropped off here. Unfortunately we were hours late as we found the post at 9pm and Bruce was adopted out at 7pm that same night.. We were absolutely devastated. We went to the shelter the following morning and asked if the staff could contact the new owners and At least explain the situation since it’s against policy to give us their information which I understood. We were willing to pay all costs of the adoption fee and more for their trouble if they were willing to give him back since they just adopted him the night before. We just wanted to make sure we did our absolute best to get him back home. The staff were beyond unprofessional. They gave me the cold shoulder and claimed “they would call them” but i’m sure they didn’t even attempt to call because I didn’t even receive a call back or update. For people working with animals daily I'm shocked they were cold and uncaring of the situation and annoyed that we were even asking. Our cat was part of our family and will be missed dearly. A phone call would have made a difference and the staff here are the reason he won’t be coming home.
