Mariners' Church: what do users think?
Charles Riddle: RIP Gordon Lightfoot!
Michelle Foy: An old standing Detroit monument, Mariners’ Church of Detroit was founded in 1842 by Julia Ann Anderson, at a time when Michigan had only been a state for five years. The church was created as a non-denominational, independent parish with a focus on providing a free place of worship for sailors. Originally at the foot of Woodward Avenue, Mariners’ moved its building to its current location in 1955.The grand memorial for sailors that perished on the Edmund Fitzgerald was held at this church. It sunk with its entire crew of 29 men on Nov 10, 1975 in Lake Superior.
Deborah Bohn: We were looking for a church that was different from our old one (recently retired). We chose to go to the oldest church in the Detroit area, Mariners’ Church. What a history! I’ve always loved ‘The Wreck of the Edmond Fitz Gerald’ (sp) and this church represents that exact song. Although a very patriarchal church run by all older white gentlemen and full of male portraits in their stained glass windows, the SERMON, on Easter Sunday 2023 was about the first disciple, the first person to lay eyes on the risen Christ, Mary!!!!! God bless them for that!!! Finally someone willing to speak truth to power. Thank you!
Mike Majedi: House of lord and savior Jesus Christ amen
Gayle Nicholson: Friendly and Welcoming church with a rich history and absolutely gorgeous stained glass.
James Adams: Fr. Jeff is amazing, and I felt and was very welcomed by fellow parishioners. I hope to return soon for mass before leaving the Detroit area, back to Louisiana.
Poovalagan Jagadeeswaran: Church
philip gensler: Beautiful historical building
Audrey Jarrell: Super place to visit.
Rebecca Singh: It reminds me a little of the chapel at USNA, but with its own unique history. We very much enjoyed the service and learning about this historic building. Also, the choir was wonderful-- so impressive!
Mandy Fields: I Loved it
Paul McPherson: I love attending services at Mariners' Church.
Kirk Kapla: Was there years ago when a friend went down on the Fitzgerald. Returned lately. So very moving. A hidden gem
Bill Vicodil: Cool historic old church.
Benjaminiah Zachariarius: Beautiful and fascinating historic church right in the heart of Detroit, at the foot of the Renaissance Center and facing Hart Plaza. Easy parking in underground garage (entrance in median of Jefferson Ave.). Sermons tend to be scholarly; politics avoided. Diverse congregation, friendly inclusive atmosphere. World-class organ by D.F. Pilzecker of Toledo, OH. Two highly skilled organists and excellent small professional choral ensemble. Music is traditional Anglican, European and American liturgical standards, traditional hymnal; no pablum, all meat and potatoes. Highly recommended.
Miles Dostert: I loved the holy communion on sunday
J Hartness: If you're a Gordon Lightfoot fan, you should stop by.
Sharon Smith-Nash: Beautiful, sacred, soul-refreshing.
Sylvia Heggen: Historic Detroit church. Parking is tough for handicapped. Use underground city parking. Phone ahead to be sure you can see inside.
Kristen M: This is a terrific bus stop. I needed to get to Windsor and the tunnel bus took me there for $5.
David Booth: Church come on people a Church is a Church. Ever been in the military some time s--t happens and you learn to pray and find a church really fast, been there. soI visit different Churchs now and then. If you didn't get it join any 5 military services, you will learn quickly.

First Congregational Church: what do users think?
David Holmes: My now wife and I had our wedding their last year and while the sanctuary is beautiful the people running it need to do better. Between locking our guest out, chaining the front door, having no security, an unprofessional sound technician and an unfinished interior it was not worth the money we paid. Underground railroad there might be nice, but I would not recommend this place for a wedding.
Jennifer Soto: Take the living history Underground Railroad tour!!! Cannot recommend this highly enough. I called to reserve a tour and spoke to Janet. She was so nice and even let the tour happen even though we didn't have the full 10 participants needed. The actors are all volunteers and they do an amazing job. You become a slave and its completely set up with scenery and houses that are your "stops" along your journey to freedom. You have a guide that stays in character to take you to each stop and teaches you about what really happened while on the journey. Seriously, this is absolutely worth the ticket!! It takes about 45 minutes from the beginning to end. You'll show up 30 minutes before to handle paying for it, etc. Great place to take kids as well!
TIFFANY MCCABE (Detroit Duchess): Michelle falina was my wedding planner and all my goodness she is amazing definitely go with her she became a great friend of mine. This church is absolutely breathtaking I will never forget it. Even though that marriage ended in divorce lol
Graham Strachan: A stunning gem in Midtown. They don’t build them like this anymore.
Jackie Simon: Beautiful!
Marlene Cowell: Its a beautiful old church Plus. there doing alot of work inside to make the church even nicer
Sandra Conners: Very informative and we'll presented.
Debora Gullatt: Full of love
Michael Davis: Excellent tour
pat WT Euseary: Outstanding underground railroad tours with actors
Patricia Haupt: We visited this beautiful, historic church in Detroit for the Underground Railroad tour that they give. They do a great jobof presenting this part of our American history in a way that leaves a lasting impression. I recommend this tour for everyone.
Chill Chill: Real nice place
Janet Lee henderson: Work place
Deborah Walters: Wonderful presentation of the Underground Railroad story
peggy terry: Temporarily used by Hannan House during renovation.
Mark Tremel: Glorious. A beautiful and historic church in Midtown Detroit. It's historic for its age, over 120 years old, and for its role in the Underground Railroad. In fact there they host the Underground Railroad Living Museum. I was there during the annual Noel Night listening to a concert of madrigal singers perform.
Lerethia Turner: They give away clothes at least once in a while. You can fill up as many bags as u like. The staff is nice and friendly.
D J: I attended a baby shower here & I vote here. Clean, well maintained historic venue & church located in midtown headed/close to downtown Detroit.
darhonda dulin: The place was HUGE... there is an underground railroad .... I am truly impressed
James K: Neat
Lareka Reed: The First Congregational Church sanctuary is one of the most beautiful spaces in Detroit. I held my wedding ceremony here on April, 14th and I couldn’t have chosen a better place, space or team! The events coordinator, Chelsee and her crew, ensured my special day ran smoothly from start to finish. Chelsee was very understanding, patient and sensitive to all of my wedding needs. The venue offers packages to fit most budgets and they rarely said “no” to any of my add-on requests. My guests were stunned by how beautiful and elegant the venue was. In short, this church surpassed all of my expectations.

Sweetest Heart of Mary Church: what do users think?
carol ter: A little Polish ……
Stephen F. Takach: Beautiful, old church. Their Lenten fish fries are famous. They have a tremendous collection of 1st degree relics spanning from the ancient world to today.
Richard Kempa: Lots of history. Beautiful architecture. You can feel the love and devotion the founding parishioners had for their beloved church.
Nicholas Watson: Perhaps the most beautiful building in Detroit, inside and out.
Sassy Sassafras: Beautiful church
Jackie B: I attended the 12pm mass for The Presentation of the Lord, also known as Candlemas. The church, built in the late 1800s, is a beautiful Gothic atmosphere. A lovely parishioner noticed that my friends and I were new. She brought us the sheets that were on a table and explained that the prayers were said after mass. The church and mass are very traditional. It brought me back to my childhood when we approached the altar and knelt to receive the Eucharist. Also, I so happy that I could light a candle and pray after mass. Many churches have removed the votives. A welcoming parish.
Jordan Piwowar: My husband and I chose this church to get married in at first because it is the most beautiful church we have ever seen. Though the views of the church are beautiful there are many more reasons we chose it. We are both Polish and it meant a lot to us and our families. The volunteers who helped us with our special day, Therese and Carol, were so sweet and so helpful! If you want a show stopping church, I couldn’t recommend it enough! (Photos attached are by Breanne Rochelle Photography)
Harm Hamstra: Very beautiful church
Diane Adamick: We went here to attend a special mass that included the Novena prayer. It's an absolute beauty of a church! We happened to be there when a lady was starting a tour of the church explaining the history and architecture! It was an awesome experience! Every Catholic or Christian should visit this place at least once during their lifetime!!
Jms: Beatiful and Holy Church
Robert Thibodeau: The poster-child for preservation of all historic churches of all denominations in Detroit.
Jon Dymond: Beautiful older church friendly staff
vivian talou: i called here today to see what it would look like to get married here. and let me tell you, do not even waste your time unless you wanna be COMPLETELY JUDGED by all the church people here. be prepared to lie about YOUR WHOLE RELATIONSHIP with your fiance or theyll deny you and keep your deposit too. they will make you feel like you are not catholic if you do not act perfect. everything that the bible is against. beautiful church, real ugly people.
Jose Avila: I seldom rate anything as a 5, but this beautiful church is exceptional!
Maria Avila: I was blessed to visit this church today. I was lucky that I could get in and admire everything about it, and explaining to my husband who is blind.I was amazed at everything, from the altars, the columns, and all the art from a very old time european church.Thank you
Joseph Dodds: Best serenity and peacefulness
Dennis Zaluski: Best Festival Yet!
Neil Popowitz: They have a great annual polish festival!

The Cathedral Church of St. Paul: what do users think?
Almighty God: When I first saw the cathedral, it was the most beautiful church I've ever seen. But as I attended service a few times, I met God. I wanted to give myself to this church and God immediately. I live a spiritual life now. And I follow the footsteps of God for my life. When the spirit speaks I move, now peace and love is my playground.I must say, thanks to almighty God.
William Balas: I worked here back when I was a spell locked Dreamer from the '70s I left shortly after being spell broke. Now that I'm spiritually awake and can understand this somewhat the reason they've done what they have done is they're covering up the fact that they used World War II memorabilia from my dad's side of the family to put my mom Martha J Howard in the red they aided and abetted the individuals who did this some of them may have been the individuals who did this anyway. There's no forgiveness for this what these individuals have spiritually done is Unforgivable they wanted to help Mandy and Jason that's the name of the Flash I don't know their Spirit Monkey Names don't want to plain and simple Martha negotiated in good faith for the birth of William to live a simple life via the dream spell and being a federal recorder so spiritually the government would know what was going on lol. When I say there's no forgiveness it's what they've done to Martha J Howard trying to soil her good name these individuals need to learn how to resurrect the flesh because if they don't there's nothing for them stay gone. spiritually they better start pretending this is The Truman Show and spiritually waking somebody up like this at 42 years old now William thinks he's on a permanent LSD trip how do you negotiate with people in good faith when they have no honor! Spiritually you individuals can't even honor simple contracts spiritually diseased in the heads
Jose Avila: Surprisingly pleasant and quite beautiful church.
Khac Huy Dau: I like that.
Stephen Smith: Inspiring visit today.
HAOSPOC: Hello Detroit just because they give you a meal on Saturday thats a front dont be fooled NEVER GO TO A CHURCH THAT PREACHES WHAT THE WORD OF GOD PREACHES AGAINST THAT MAKES THAT "PASTOR" A ENEMY OF GOD.
Rob2 Bryson Mr.B: I love having the Cathedral in my life.So thankful you are near by.
Helena Boulding: Another beautiful historic church in Detroit, I wouldn't mind volunteering here.
SCOTTIE SCOTT: Sunday breakfast
Plum Health DPC: Awesome that the church is open to the public during cultural events like Dlectricity and Noel Night.
Aminh Kurdi: Beautiful! Priest was friendly!
