Dr. Lefowitz was informed of the E.R. visit.Dr. Lefowitz sent me a certified letter a few days later. Still demanding a $150.00 for cancelling surgery in less than 72 hours.I have filed a grievance with my insurance company and the Attorney General office.I'm awaiting a response from the Attorney General office.I feel Dr. Lefowitz is a dispictable, money hungry person. He give less than 2 dead flies about his patients.Beware!!

Rocky The Great: I called yesterday 2/27 around 9a the receptionist was terrible had and attitude out the gate soon as she picked up I was asked for all my information I told her I just wanted to ask 1 question about pricing but she insisted she couldn’t answer anything until I made an appointment so I give my information then she says it’s not coming up in the system she goes to my insurance website and it says active but there was multiple people with the same id# I tell her those are my kids on my policy but she was basically saying she couldn’t verify the validity because of this (my kids are 13 and down)next she says the numbers I gave her couldn’t be right and I would have to bring my physical card and ID when I ask about what other information could you possibly get from the card that I’m not giving you she then says I have animosity towards her for asking the questions. If I could I would give negative 10 stars all I was doing was trying to make an appointment for my heel that’s giving me excruciating pain I don’t know if it was just that day, if that was her last day or that’s simply who she is but that was the worst call of my life.

But unfortunately something came up this morning to where I couldn’t make it, I was LITERALLY about to call Dr. Lefkowitz to maybe reschedule or just inform him that I was unable to make it when I received this message. Like I understand the frustration from me inconveniencing you but really? You don’t know what could’ve happened either on the way to the interview or something else (which was the case). In my 9 years of working I’ve never smh. I also heard from some friends and former patients that the staff is very rude as well (I see where they got it from). cheryl stoops: Recently I made a decision to have reconstructive foot surgery requiring a bunion removal and rods in each of my very crooked toes. This is a very big decision for me since the first time I had this done 50 years ago to the other foot it was not a great experience I was very hesitant. I was referred to Dr. Lefkowitz by another Doctor Who told me that he would have his foot surgery by Dr. Lefkowitz and that was enough for me. I was able to get an appointment fairly quickly he was extremely professional and we move forward with all the details with what would need to be done.Not only did Dr. Lefkowitz do the surgery masterfully his very genuine and chill nature removed all fear from me regarding this surgery.I highly recommend Dr. Lefkowitz if you are contemplating any kind of surgery of the foot his staff is very knowledgeable but he himself is amazing. I would sum up the overall experience as being one of the best surgeries that I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few. He has 3 locations the busiest was Ferndale the nicest was Milford but I will be returning to him to have a repair of one toe on the other foot. Highly recommend!!!!

Katherine F: He is the best. I had been misdiagnosed by many sports doctors and physicians about fractured bones in my feet and Dr Lefkowitz gave me concrete answers and a realistic plan and advice. He is very thorough, experienced, and straightforward. In a very professional way, he did not sugar coat the diagnosis, which is exactly what I needed to hear after being strung along by sports doctors who had no idea what they were looking at (which is a common fracture seen in dancers). He basically told me that he could operate and it would still hurt, or he could not operate and it would probably hurt less...obviously decided against surgery. Not many doctors would willingly steer you away from an expensive speciality surgical procedure. Instead they made custom orthotics and gave me practical lifestyle advice. I am very grateful for that. The orthotics continue to be very effective. Plus the office is well run.

P. H.: Dr. Lefkowitz' surgical skills are good, but his communication skills are greatly lacking. Prior to surgery, I asked him about using a walker or crutches, and he shrugged his shoulders. Post surgery, he showed even less interest in answering my questions. I am now suffering with an injury to my other ankle because he neglected to inform me that using a scooter, at my age, is safer than using a walker or crutch. I am fuming to learn that I may need a second surgery (4 months later) because of too much weight-bearing on my opposite foot! I have since found another podiatrist.

Dan: I would be careful being treated by this practice due to price and insurance gouging. I came to this practice to have a plantar wart treated. Before being seen, I asked the front desk if it was possible to find out how much they were going to charge me before administrating any treatment, they said yes. When in the room, the doctor came in scraped the area and applied a topical acid commonly used for treating a plantar wart. It took all but 5 minutes, so I didn't think anything of it. It's my fault for not stopping the doctor and it's also the front desks fault for not communicating my request with the doctor. I get to the front desk and they hand me a bill for $203 for a single treatment of plantar wart. I asked for an itemized receipt, which they said they could not provide until the claim was processed. I have BCBS insurance through my spouse's employer with a $600 deductable (which is an above average insurance policy). The practice requires full payment for any procedure if your deductible is not met (this is disclosed in writing on the wall in the waiting room). Any type of overpayment is then refunded back to you weeks later. Never in my life have I had a practice bill me for service like this before. They must have a lot of issues with non-payment. Furthermore, to get rid of a plantar wart, it can take on average 3-5 treatments, which meant that this practice would have maxed out my deductible if I continued treatment with them.After being put off by the cost and experience, I went to a dermatologist to continue treatment. The dermatologist took a different approach to treating the wart, which was more effective.I waited until both practices submitted their claims to my insurance before writing this review to be fair. But as I suspected, both of the practices used the same billing code... And this practice charged about 40% more than the dermatologist. In fact, I even had two procedures done at the dermatologist and it was still cheaper.The staff and doctor that I saw were polite and kind which is why this review isn't receiving the lowest rating.

He treated surgery as an absolute last resort, as it should be.He was very open to answering any and all questions I had regarding my problem, and the surgery itself. I recommend him to everyone I know!

I ended up I don't know if it's a common thing in Detroit because every since I moved out here, all of these medical "billers" always try to tell me I have to pay out of pocket. I only came here because I needed emergency ankle care. It was swollen and has been injured for weeks and I couldn't get in anywhere else. If you have anything other than Medicaid or Medicare forget it.

The medical assistant did a great job with cutting and trimming her nails.As we checked out, the assistant told mom they had one more thing for her. -They began to sing happy birthday and gave her birthday letter with a gift of lotion. That really made her day.It was a pleasant experience. The office had a small crowd when we arrived and we thought that meant a long wait. We were on the road within the hour of our appointment.I would definitely recommend giving the office a try. I believe that I will be a patient soon too.

He was rude, demeaning and insulted me before ever even looking at my feet or xrays.Being a Chef from California who just moved to Detroit, having worked 50+ hours per week for years I have developed extreme plantar fascitis on both feet. He wouldn't even talk to my specialist in California and used the excuse that his office was inundated with too much paperwork. All that was needed was to fill out 2 one sided pages to complete my insurance claim, and he said he doesn't "do that kind of stuff".So what do you do Doc? Just collect cash from walk-ins and not even bother to re-diagnose? Apparently there is no compassion with this medical guys practices.
