Detroit Savings Bank Luxury Apartments: what do users think?
T: Management is very unprofessional and lazy in communication. They try to force you in applying without adequate information.
michael godfrey: For someone who wants the experience of living downtown, DSB is a great choice. I really liked living here. The neighborhood is safe, and right across the street from capitol park and close to bars restaurants. Construction from the Hudson building can be loud, and you can hear cars revving their engines late at night, but I expected this much. Kevin, Kate and Jennifer from the office are close by, were always helpful when I needed something. If you're moving in I recommend bringing your own router. I was able to activate my internet the first day, but the router never came in the mail. Fortunately I had a router and could plug directly into the wall. Also, the floors are tile and there isn't a lot of noise isolation from the hallway. I got a door draft stopper on Amazon for $10 that made a world of difference. That said, my corner unit 1201 was well updated with new appliances and beautifully finished. I'm sad to leave it behind!
Alexander Freeman: Management will not hesitate to ignore all of your needs.
Mikell Williams: I have nothing negative to say about DSB! The experience has been everything I expected living downtown. Kara is the sweetest, most accommodating property manager, one of the reasons I renewed my lease! The staff responds to every request very fast but there is rarely ever any issues!
Su Yoon: Honestly I don’t understand why this apartment has this poor review rate. I’ve lived here 2.5 years by now and overall I like it a lot. I’ll elaborate pros and cons.PRO 1: I always get a response from staffs within 24 hours through a resident portal or you can simply call them and talk directly. Every maintenance job has been done in a timely manner, usually within 1-2 days.PRO 2: Their LG washer/dryer combo is LITERALLY A GAME CHANGER 👏👏👏 This machine makes my life so much easier.PRO 3: Needless to say, their location and cleanliness are worth every dollar.CON 1: It varies by units. I moved from studio to one bedroom. I loved my first unit but the current one? Not really. DO NOT choose those units that have windows facing to the Under Armour building. Their windows are right above the street garbage dumpsters alley. Every morning you will be suffered from big trash collecting noises echoing between those tall buildings for an hour. Plus, the windows are so close to the other side of building windows… I bought $75 privacy window films from Amazon and attached to the windows. Problem resolved. If apartment staffs see this review, I’d recommend to give options to future tenants whether they want this privacy films or not and you install for them.CON 2: Parking. But I don’t have a car. If you don’t have a car too, 100% recommended.p.s. I saw another review about stolen package… I’ve never experienced it during my 2.5 year long stay here. BTW they also let you use a few carts available inside the dry cleaning locker room on the first floor. Use that cart if needed and just pick up your package in a timely manner. No problem.
Thomas Smither: Pros:Apartments are nicely updatedWalls/Floors between apartments are very thickGreat locationCons:No one showed up for our 8am freight elevator reservation. We were calling constantly until someone finally answered at 10:45. Crazy that they charge us if we show up even 15 minutes late for our reservation but if they’re late (or don’t show up at all), absolutely nothing happens. I complained and management told me they would try to make it right, I haven’t heard from them since. We were stuck trying to move out through the regular small elevator that is shared with the rest of the building.Took money off security deposit for small holes in living room wall even though they told us it wouldn’t be a problem.Parking is absolutely terrible, if it’s busy they prioritize visitors that come and pay daily, not you.Management overall is unpleasant to deal with. Tried to force us to pay for extra months of parking we didn’t want.Had about 5 false fire alarms (a couple in the middle of the night)Packages just get thrown in the lobby, I had one get stolen. No garbage disposalPractically no amenities
Henry Tan: Fantastic staff and apartment! The staff, Brian, Stacy and Jacie went out of their way to help me move in from out of state. There were no openings initially, but they kept an eye out for what I wanted and informed me immediately when a last minute opening occurred. On the day of my move, the staff assisted me in the move in process, and when I had a technical issue with my apartment, the manager Stacey showed up personally to troubleshoot.Even on my move-out (going out of state), the manager, Kevin Centala was extremely professional and made sure it went well!I lived here for 3 years, and overall, the apartment is in a safe location, and quiet, even at night. In summary, the staff is very friendly and I highly recommend this apartment for anyone living in the downtown area!
Alex Wheaton: The management here is quite poor. Very unorganized from the start when they didn’t have anything ready for my move in and I was stuck with a moving truck on a weekend trying to get keys and access to the building. It got worse from there over the next roughly 3 years.I rented unit 1201. It is a top floor corner unit facing the park. The walls are paper thin. Reviews saying otherwise are likely offered incentive to be dishonest. The management takes no action to stop loud partying in the halls every night of the week. The tenants in unit 1202 are a nightmare and won’t be moving out so beware if renting unit 1201 next door. Constantly pounding on walls, having parties 2-4 times a week that cause walls and floors to shake and screaming constantly at all hours which may as well be happening in your apartment due to the thin walls.Other notable issues:Water outages constantly. (2 -5 times a week)Water pipe breaking in apartment and not fixing smoke detector wiring after.Electricity is charged in a way that it won’t matter what you use, the bill will be 50 - 60 dollars baseline. I left the apartment two months before my lease. No lights, ac/heat or anything but the refrigerator was running. My electric bills were just under $100 the last two months. 5 dollars less than when I was there full time.Refusing to fix windows where seal is broken so moisture builds between panes making them permanently dirtyElevator is down for hours most weeksTrash is constantly in common areasCommon areas are cleaned once a week and very poorly. No vacuuming.Non responsive management. Rarely return calls. There are so many more to list but these are the items that made me leave. I have lived in 4 apartments downtown Detroit and many more throughout my life. Every apartment has its issues but I’ve never encountered worse management. These issues are not worth the money or the headache. Checkout The Griswold, Stott building, The Albert or Malcomson. All great properties.
Joe Stierman: Lived here for 4.5 years and counting, overall very comfortable, quiet place to live in the middle of the city. Excellent location, just a block off Woodward keeps the crowds and noise down a bit. Price went up reasonably as expected with the market. Generally single, young professionals, but there's a little bit of diversity.Pros: Completely new as of ~2015, so great appliances and countertops; very thick walls/windows to keep out the noise of motorcycles; historic building; access to rooftop of sister building (w/ grill) - awesome!; maintenance and management has been good, rotated a lot like most apartments; neighbors are pretty nice; easy to get packages delivered (no door person, though I've never had anything stolen/lost). Great view of the Book Tower if you're on the Griswold side. Very safe - multiple scans needed to get to your floor. Gigabit internet for cheap! Cleaning staff does a good job.Cons: No parking except through Westin ($$$) or other lots, and it's harder and harder to get street parking these days. That's probably the biggest inconvenience is easily getting things to/from your vehicle if you have one. Wish they had recycling of some sort. They've dealt with some occasional water pressure issues over the years (now mostly fixed) - nearby construction sometimes affects it or the power. Gets false fire alarms a couple times a year. No bath tub, garbage disposals (why?). Everything is electric (heat - not baseboard, water, range, etc.) - I don't mind but some people do. Unless you get 12th floor. Not a lot of windows open.p.s. I'm suspicious about the 1 star reviews, particularly several from the same month. Of course, you always get more haters in online reviews.
Konstantin Hahn: Great location!
Zack Taylor: I love living here! The mgmt is friendly, quick and to the point. The building has been beautifully modernized with impressive interiors, and the outside maintains its history. Perfect layout for all my entertaining!
Cruz Kapp: Bad management... I don’t recommend this place to anyone !
Ramzi Kassem: Such bad management. It's pretty unreasonable to try and reason with these guys!
Live_free: Bad management
Tzippy Weiss: is there any openings in this building and what is the rent?
Anand Kumar Nittur: Talk about Luxury apartments. Detroit Savings Bank has brought life to such a great place in Detroit Michigan. Now, confused between Capitol Park Lofts apartments and Detroit Savings Bank apartments. Any inputs much appreciated.

Briggs Houze Apartments: what do users think?
Kenneth: Loved my time at Briggs Houze. Location was great, never had any issues with the apartment or parking, and only reason I didn't re-sign was because I moved to another state. Once I'm back in the D I would love to live at Briggs again! Thanks Marcus/Karolina for making it a smooth experience the whole time I was there.
TDevian C: I used to complain about the parking but loved my apartment. I was mostly happy here and I miss it here. I will try to work with Briggs about moving back! Marcus and Karolina were the best Leasing agents to ever work with. The leasing team was friendly and missed the positive energy and community feeling!
Derrick Miree: Great Restaurant on site
Brunden Long: Booked through third party. Original location booked was not available so I was switched to this one. Gaining entry to bldg is frustrating you have to dial in via intercom everytime and sometimes it doesn't work. Was outside waiting 20min last night. Room feels and looks dirty very old. Serious spider problem in room. I've killed atleast 10 spiders. Elevator is very bad takes forever. Furniture falling apart walls need to be painted. Bathroom floors are disgusting and bathroom and whoever walls are gross. Neighborhood and area really worked for me as my client is performing st the Fox. But overall not happy front desk agent rude and not helpful at all.
Minkyung Choe: Great location and friendly staff!Pet friendly building and walking distance from a few dog parks. The building itself is old though, and there has been issues with elevators and HVAC.
Dan Czarnik: Toured a place here, one thing that is not mentioned online is that parking is $200 a month... also, all utilities are not included. Business model sounds something like Spirit Airlines, you will be paying substantially more than your eyes see on a website. On a positive note, the location is nice.
Jonathan Alles: Briggs Houze advertises with #LiveTheHype, but let me assure you that there is nothing hype about living here. Plenty of hype can be found at the adjacent restaurant/nightclub Pao, and you will hear that hype at all hours of the night. You will be conveniently located on Grand Circus park (a redeeming aspect), and the management team will do everything in their power to make it really feel like you, indeed, live in a circus. Elevators never work, heating and air conditioning is weak, and your room will be dirty from the previous resident when you move in.The revitalization of downtown Detroit is promising and alluring to many -- and it should be! So move downtown, enjoy what the city has to offer, and make sure you do it elsewhere.
Ben Allen: It’s immoral to charge $1000 for 350 square feet and call it a suitable living space. Time to fight back against the Big Real Estate monopolies.
Steve Morrison: I really enjoy my studio apartment and you cannot ask for a better location. Convenient location to my place of work.
M: Nice enough apartments, but new property management is AWFUL. They have not responded to maintenance requests and they are somehow both in your business and unhelpful. They do not seem to understand how to send people in the building emails. They also went door-to-door to check to see if people had pets during a PANDEMIC (despite also sending out surveys).Other gripes: building runs out of heat in winter, in-unit dryer is awful, package area not secure.Find somewhere else to live. There is better for cheaper.
Casey Mutter: Great location, WAY too pricey, very poor management.
Sabriyya Willis: Great location. Studio decent size able to separate kitchen area, living space and bed area. Bathroom floor & shower tile could have been redone doesn’t add “character”. Noise/music from restaurant/club next door is a downside. Maintenance responds quickly! Staff are nice & helpful. Good communication. Under Essential ManagementPLOT TWIST Within the last few months of my lease the management got extremely unorganized! Constantly changing team members and was unresponsive. I have since moved out and despite leaving my unit spotless they have YET to return my security deposit. It has been 2 months and I have received no emails or calls back. I have multiple emails to Briggs stating my forwarding address and I gave it to the staff prior to moving out so that is simply false.
Oh Hai: I have to agree with the other reviewers: the new property management company (JSD Associates?) that took over in February 2020 is an absolute disaster. Clueless. Unprofessional. Seem like they’re used to being slumlords. At this price point in a building of professionals who can afford to move to greener pastures, they are NOT a good fit. They’re:- Surly to residents.- Incompetent at simple record keeping (where is my money?!).- Unable to organize and execute maintenance requests (despite a professional maintenance crew).Briggs should bring back Essential (we all miss you!) or this building is going to soon be a ghost town or something worse given their utter incompetence.
Josh Pope: EDIT: It took 39 days and me emailing the Principal & President, Principle VP, and Regional Property Manager of the former Briggs Houze management company in order to get my security deposit back. The Principal & President of Essential PM (the previous property manager) put me in touch with the owner of the new property manager company. After talking with the owner, this was resolved in around three business hours. Living at Briggs Houze under Essential PM was great. I'd watch out for the new management company as getting my refund was a disaster.Lived at Briggs Houze for 2 years and loved it! It's maybe a bit pricey for the location but it's a great place to live and would recommend it to anyone!
Dante Welch: Modern amenities, clean apartments, good location and nice gym. The leasing office is a pleasure to work with. Any maintenance requests I've had have been resolved quickly. If you are working downtown Detroit, I'd recommend living here.
Michael Tee: The management keeps up on things and are very friendly. I appreciated the cement walls and the fact that the building is not on a boiler system. The gated and attached parking lot was convenient. They seem like they are continuing to invest in the property. The only downside for me was the restaurant in the building because they share a back hallway with residents. Also, it just created for more traffic.
Margaret Sheets: I lived at Briggs Houze for just a little over year. Really loved living here and had a great experience. Great location, nice apartment, and great staff who plan awesome events for residents. The only reason I didn't renew my lease was because I got a new job in a different city and needed to relocate. I will miss living here!
Sarah L: Great security manager and staff are seriously awesome. Very organized and amazing communication. I love living here. This is only time I have lived in a place where the rent was exactly worth the value. There’s a historic yet upscale vibe and every interior part of this building maintains its identity. It boosts my mood. The location is great, walking distance to downtown Detroit. I love that the building is always locked, security is huge for me. High quality appliances, good quality kitchen, and in unit washer/dryer! The shower head makes me feel rich it is one of those full body stream shower heads, with many settings.
zakatakaz: Friendly staff, apartments are in good condition. One of few places in area that offer studio size apartments if looking for something small.
Peter Byrne: Had no heat the entire winter, was barely compensated for an apartment that reached as low as 48°. The HVAC system is horrible, even right now and summer it does not get to the temperature it says it supposed to. The elevators are slow and you cannot fit anything into them if they work. Considering the price they charge to live here underwhelming
Araxie Zaleski: Great place! I love my apartment. The views and proximity to all things Detroit is amazing. The staff is super helpful and polite.

The Jeffersonian Apartments: what do users think?
masih lame: Are you guys checking the weather? It’s getting hot day by day and I’m dying because of my apartment temperature, it’s 85F during the day and 80F during the night(inside my apartment), I’m paying a lot of money for rent and utilities and I don’t have control over my room temperature! And the new property management is so chill about our complains, they are like maybe the weather gets cold in a few days, are you serious it’s May 10 what you expect to snow again?TO BE HONEST EVERYONE DONT MOVE HERE ITS NOT WORTH LIVING HERE!!!!!
Toadnurse: There's no where to park for visitors, and it's a long walk for nurses to get in
TygerBelle: Ms. T. Robinson who is part of the leasing team is awesome. She displayed professionalism, expertise of the property, and provided customer service. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a smile and the front lobby was very clean (Winner). The property was beautiful, spacious, and stole my heart. Come see Ms. Robinson and see why you would want to move downtown.
Susan Duncan: Car was broken into twice in one week. That was 3 weeks ago, I currently still have 4 months left on my lease but in the meantime will be parking my car at a nearby storage unit until I move. 5 other cars were broken into the first time mines got broken into, would you believe they still have not put up even one camera in the parking garage that they charge you in your rent to park. They have not upped security or anything of that nature. Just completely avoid this ghetto apartment building. The leasing office told me “I’m sorry that happened but there’s not much we can do “ both times.
Quashawna PW: PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE. I’ve had literally every problem you can think of. Bed bugs, roaches , nats. And today my car was broken into. Among the countless other cars that have been vandalized IN THE PARKING GARAGE. The gate is there literally no reason because security doesn’t care. There are no cameras in the parking garage. The have taken no steps to stop this from happening but charges to park in the garage included in your rent. The elevator are consistently down, management helps with absolutely nothing. This place is a joke.
Nikki Wright: I signed my lease Friday. Monday night my car was stolen from the parking garage. The security guard was clueless and inattentive. What’s the point in paying an additional $100 if the lot isn’t being patrolled? Any and everyone can get right into the gate. There’s a security vehicle there but no one is in it.
S: Update: All elevators are working except one. So wait times arent as bad anymore. Also they are enabling the service elevator when one does break, but they don't stay broken for long anymore either. So overall the elevator situation is better.______Olde: The broken elevators return, AGAIN. I was counting the days it been broken but I've since lost count. Let's just say it's been months now. Lines form in the lobby for people waiting to get into their apartment. There is of course another elevator they could enable to relieve traffic, but they won't. The other elevator sits unused while people wait 10 minutes for the one working elevator to slog up and back down. Just for it to fill up and have to wait for it to make another round. One of the broken elevators is caused by a broken door in the basement floor. If they disabled its ability to go to the basement we would have 2 mostly working elevators
Stewart Bates: Maintenance request was handled professionally and thoroughly.
J A: Staff and management are very nice. And the apartments are really nice on the inside. You get a lot of square feet for the price. Now to the negative.I moved in a month ago. My apartment wasn’t ready and took 3 weeks for maintenance to fix all the issues. The AC works on and off. None of the washing machines work. The parking garage seems like it will be really useful in the winter, but right now there are giant spider families building webs at the level 2 entrance and there is rebar sticking up from the ground, with loose concrete everywhere. Definitely a hazard for your tires.
kim orr: Love the view.
Carl Coker: As a vendor do not waste your time to try to do any work at the facility. Parking and getting throught the gate is impossible. Quote high to work there because it is more work to get to the work than the work actually is. The intercom buzzer does not work and the people look at you with a blank face if you are trying to get in. Avoid at all costs as you will have only lose money when trying to work there.
Icery Washington: Visiting my son it's nice
Michael Ems: There are quite a few things that the Jeffersonian could work on, but I wanted to change my review because the management has shown a good amount of effort trying to help my gf and I take care of a few things we had been struggling with since we moved in. Because they are ready to help and take charge of our troubles I wanted to move my 1 star review to a 3.I appreciate you guys for taking care of us and again will improve our review as things are changing.Thank you 🙏
Conor McElroy: Great tour from Terrance, he’s the man. Looking forward to Jeffersonian and the views!
L S: Management allows residents to leave dogs outside on the balcony to bark all day and night. Security and management has been notified as this happens quite often. Security does not react at all to the complaints. I left information for management to contact me and that hasn’t happened either. The sound travels and disturbs the peace of nearby neighborhoods including professionals with families and those that live in the apartments. This is unacceptable. There wasn’t much noise in this neighborhood in the past. I’m assuming the building is managed by someone else.
Melissa: I would never recommend that anyone live here. I moved in here in September of 2017 and am now having to move out due to multiple issues. Firstly, the building was bought by Village Green who decided to then fire all of the employees working in the office and replace them. My rent currently includes water, heat, and A/C which they are now charging for. Additionally, a raise in the rent itself AND parking. Now I thought that meant maybe I could move to one of their renovated apartments since my rent would spike from 544 to about 800. Wrong. A renovated apartment is going to be almost 900. To live on the east side. The neighborhood isn’t that great, but I guess you have to pay for the view? Now, all of the seniors in my building have to move because they cant afford it. I guess they can do this because it’s “cool” to live in Detroit now.Our appliances are out of date, the parking lot has been under construction for literal months when they said it would be a week or two, and getting things fixed is basically impossible. I asked them to fix my dishwasher and it’s been DAYS now without a reply. The elevators are almost always broken (at least 1 of them), and the stairs outside are falling apart. Also the "security" at the front sucks except one person who actually checks to see who is coming in. The gates have been broken for as long as I can remember. They decided to put in a fitness center, “dog spa” (whatever that is) among other things that are never used because nobody wanted or asked for it. I laughed when I told them I was moving out because this place is NOT worth it, and they left me a voicemail to try to negotiate with me. Keep in mind I have already signed another lease. A little late don’t you think? If you’re loaded with cash, move downtown closer to something nice instead of wasting your energy here.
deven stalworth: The fact that they have the nerve to charge tenants the amount of rent they do to live in poor conditions. Maintenance people are rude and lazy. Elevators never work and there are elderly and people with disabilities that cannot access. Consistent trash everywhere. They have changed management so many times that at this point I don’t think they know who is in charge. The people working for the leasing office now have a slightly better attitude than the ones prior but still have audacity to try and implement petty rules and don’t make sure the grounds are even comfortable for the tenants ( I’m sure it’s because they don’t care) this place is horrible.
Ronel Newman: This is the by far the worst place to live in the city of Detroit. Everything everyone is saying is true about this place. Elevators do not work, inside is not kept clean, summer fruit flies. The worst part I moved out Oct 28 management was aware emails sent then they called me and asked me was I still resident back in December and kept my deposit. DO NOT MOVE TO THIS PLACE ITS BETTER PLACES DOWNTOWN DO NOT MOVE HERE
Charlie Gibson: I lived here for about 4 and a half years and experienced many changes and many headaches. I will say, most of my grievances were corrected (and in some cases over-corrected which included a discount on rent) but they have a long way to go until they can really claim to be 'luxury living'. I'm giving two stars because of these constant frustrations. If they didn't make it so difficult to live peacefully there, I would give them a full 5 stars. When the building was purchased and new management was brought in, most of the older tenants on fixed income left because of the insane rent increase. This meant that the building went from being nice and quiet to really rowdy and random hours - you could never know when you were going to have to deal with loud music, or screaming matches. The walls are pretty thick so it takes a lot to hear through them, but some residents were extremely loud and even warranted me calling the police on what I suspected were some domestic disputes turned violent. No buildings are without pests... I didn't see a SINGLE BUG my first two years there. Not one. When the new company came in, I had a CONSTANT and repetitive issue with roaches. Lots of them. It was extremely stressful. The management was understanding and hired a team to come in and take care of it but they made an even bigger mess and damaged some of my belongings. I received a $500 credit to my rent for that. They have been upgrading the building but it has been taking forever. Honestly for about 2 years now... The hallways are worse than they've ever been, the lobby is full of cheap tacky furniture, and the exterior gate rarely works which means anyone has access to the parking garage. Fortunately I never had a break-in, but I know others who had. The concierge is rarely helpful and anyone can walk in without checking in. The one exception is Shauna - she was fantastic and was the only friendly staff member I enjoyed seeing. I will miss her! This is getting long but here's a list of some other things that happened - some issues were resolved and some weren't:- Constant trash piles in the parking garage because there's no easy way to take your trash out to the dumpsters. They've been promising a chute but nothing has happened.- The construction team once MOVED my brand new parked car without my consent or knowledge while I was on vacation. I still have no idea how they did it or if they caused any damage. Got a credit for that one, too.- They spray painted the balconies with white paint and got it all over my new black patio furniture. Got a credit for that, too.- They cut down a bunch of old pine trees that provided tons of privacy and blocked out noise from the park across the street. There was no reason for this.- The GOD AWFUL blue sign on top of the building is not only not in compliance with a city ordinance regarding unnecessary light pollution, but it's also hideous and casts blue light all over the park and adjacent buildings. It's extremely tacky.- The animals allowed in the building will pee/poo in the elevator and residents rarely clean it up. In fact, residents rarely clean up any animal waste, including in all of the outdoor spaces... watch your step.- They have changed management companies 5 times since I've lived there. The new building owner has changed it 4 times in the last few years. They've all been terrible and the people in the office (some have remained from company to company) are rude and unprofessional.- It took me and extra 45 days to receive my security deposit after it was owed to me. I had to call and email constantly and finally had to go pick it up instead of having it mailed.- Fires occurred every so often in the building and I was rarely aware. I heard about one of them on Snapchat of all places. No emails were sent out, no texts, nothing.- They are notorious for deleting reviews and comments off of Facebook and their websites - so I'll check this every so often and repost if necessary. Keep an eye out for FAKE reviews, too - they post lots of those.
Rachel H: By far the worst place we’ve lived. We lived in the Jeffersonian for three years. During this time (here we go——) the elevators were consistently down, staff was changed frequently, ALL staff was incompetent on top of that, there were antiquated laundry facilities, laundry rooms were always filthy and unkept and that’s if they were working—no real package system, rent a cop security, a fruit fly INFESTATION, cadavers being left in their units only to be found 30+ days later (true story), low water pressure, upcharged units, trash neighbors, a dirty pool, no property upkeep, dirty hallways, vomit in elevators if they ever worked, broken gym equipment, constant fire alarm going off, constant water leakage in the lobby, uneven and unkept stairs from the parking garage to the building, and the list goes on and on.Let’s talk about their expectations.— The trash receptacles are located behind and below the building. You have to either walk a mile around the building or walk through a very long and narrow creepy abandoned basement EVERY time you take out the trash. When the elevators are out, you’re expected to take the stairs to whichever of the 29 floors you live on. We lived on 22, so you can only imagine. When the laundry facilities are down on your floor, you just go from floor to floor to see if you can find one that works. If you need maintenance, they’re not coming. Period. Finally, towards the end of our lease we started to get irritated by the community and made a few complaints. Next thing we know, they’re stating we didn’t renew our lease and we needed to vacate within 30 days. No problem. Moved to a beautiful NEW building downtown. We love it and now all we talk about is how God delivered us from this place. If you’re thinking about moving here, don’t. Don’t think and don’t move. The staff seems kind until you move in. The remodeled units are beautiful, but roaches and flies don’t care about esthetics. Remember that. Good luck!
Shawna Vann: Do not move here, we have every problem you can think of. Lost packages, broken elevators (I had to walk up 21 flights of stairs for 3 days in a row on many occasions) bed bugs, roaches, and fruit flys. There are entirely too many problems for the amount of money they charge, stay far away from this fake luxury building. Slum lords

The Farwell: what do users think?
trey maine: The farwell is a beautiful building and I had a great experience living there for almost 4 years. I would caution potential residents that the building doesnt have garbage disposals in the sinks, the single unit washer/dryer takes 3-4 hours to do a single load, and the rooftop grill sucks but thats about it for negatives. Management and maintenance are legit. Fantastic location and overall excellent place to live in downtown detroit.
Michael G: The Farwell is a nice building but the management team drops the rating down to 1 star. The property did a beautiful job with the restoration of the building but left out multiple details in the units. The quality of cabinets they installed are low cheap quality Ikea-like cabinets. The island is awkwardly high. Some cabinets can't open when another cabinet is open. The drawers easily get out of alignment causing them to not close properly. One of the biggest flaws to the kitchen is the lack of a garbage disposal which makes cooking a pain. Moving on to the laundry, the combo unit is suboptimal. The units get clogged up with lint and dry clothing poorly despite their "routine maintenance" on the units. Each load of wash/dry takes 3-4+ hours making laundry a big pain. Now onto the management team. They will nickle and dime you when you move out. Their senior leasing manager, Kevin is difficult to contact. Numerous emails asking him to call to discuss an issue by phone always led to another email reply by him but no phonecall. He tells you one thing and then does something else. Keep an eye on your security deposit because they will charge you an outrageous fee to do simple drywall repair. They charged $300 dollars to repair small holes from mounting TVs in locations that they designed walls with outlets/cables for mounting TVs. They also do a strange antic of telling you a lease rate then writing a rate that is $100 more on the lease and then they discount you the $100 off if you pay on time. Why not just list the rent they advertise? Seems like they are trying to circumvent some law to squeeze more money out of a tenent.Response to owner: I lived at the property for two years and moved out in 2021. Unit 711. Interesting that they do not challenge vague 5 star reviews but challenge the name of the author of a detailed review.
Elijah Singer: Upon move out the farwell (curator property management) tried to charge me over 3000$ for replacing a countertop I didn't damage.I also paid them 70$ when I moved in for them to hang my TV on the wall, they told me I wouldn't be charged for a repair upon move out. They tried to charge me for a repair of TV mounting as well as a laundry list of other frivolous charges
Yves Le Pottier: I have lived at the Farewell for four months. I have nothing but praise for the management team (Kara and Sahar), who has always been extremely friendly and responsive throughout all our communications, as well as very helpful and flexible during the move-in process. The historic building's overall architecture and interior lobby design are stunning. The apartment interior space is well layout and tastefully appointed, with modern lighting and plumbing fixtures as well as very functional kitchen and bath cabinet designs. All appliances are brand new and very functional, and the central heating and cooling systems work very efficiently.I would highly recommend The Farwell if you are looking to live near Capital Park.
Brenda Silva: The Farewell had great responsive management team and maintenance requests have good turn around time. I recommend The Farewell to anyone looking to live in Capitol Park.
William Alexander: Management is really responsive, facilities are AMAZING! A historic building but you would never be able to tell. Very amazing appliances, flooring. Air quality is really good, central heating and cooling. Flooring is gorgeous. Walk in showered and restrooms. Roof top is amazing. The management even hosts neighborhood events for us on the rooftop. Regular maintenance is done in units (changing ventilation and filtration systems). All in one laundry units in the unit as well. One of the best places I have lived for sure! Thanks Kara for being such an awesome property manager too.
Jared Schnarr: I lived here for a year and a half, the management worked with me to find a lease perfect for me. Anytime service needed to be done in my unit they gave me tons of advance and were always prompt when i requested a service. I travel a lot for work and use to living in different apartments, The Farwell has been my favorite so far!
Todd Grzech: The staff here, especially Kara, was extremely helpful and responsive with any move in, maintenance and move out. Would definitely recommend living here to others.
Eric Nicolson: Living at The Farwell has been a great experience. The quality of the unit is really good. I haven't had any maintenance problems in the almost two years that I've lived here. They do regular preventative maintenance. All the appliances are pretty new and are high quality. The sound proofing is great. The walls are very thick and I cannot hear the people below, above or next to me at all.Neighbors are great and very friendly. The staff is easy to work with and very responsive.
Patrick Perfitt: I have lived in The Farwell building since November 2020. I think it is the best apartment building in downtown Detroit. The building itself is an architectural gem. It is owned by Michigan people who obviously love this building. The outside is very well maintained and the common areas inside are always super clean. Leila restaurant on the ground floor is one of the best downtown. I am on the 5th floor in a studio unit with a wonderful view of capital park. The rent is very reasonable and the increase for year 2 was fair. I have had 1 maintenance issue, which was a leaky shower faucet and they fixed it within a few days on the first visit. I would highly recommend The Farwell if you want to live in Capital Park. Great roof top space too, with BBQ grill.
Peter Brady: The Farwell has been nothing short of amazing. Any small hiccups are addressed and alleviated ASAP, the curators are incredibly attentive and make sure to stay close to the community, and the property itself is nothing short of breath taking. It is constantly in pristine condition, care is taken to really showcase the historic elements of the structure, and the units themselves are the epitome of luxury living downtown. From the extravagant rooftop patio that you wont find anywhere else, to the beautiful area it resides, The Farwell is undoubtedly the best bang for your buck around downtown.PS, Kara/Kate/Jennifer/RJ are all amazing and made living here very accommodating. A nice apartment is good, but an amazing management team is even better!Edit: After reading some of the other reviews, i will happily say I never experienced the management issues described here. Mgmt team has ALWAYS been transparent with changes and community policy. We have lived in their sister building across the street prior to The Farwell, upon move out we were assessed no charges for general wear and tear of the unit (small drywall holes for a TV mount and pictures, not entirely cleaned when we left, scratches on wall from moving in/out, among other things) so the claims that people are being charged egregiously for small items seems suspect at best (especially when reading the rest of their reviews and seeing the slew of conflict they claimed in addition to the move out fees). When rent was increased we were alerted with more than enough time to spare, and it was not raised on an active contract only when resigning the unit which is normal for any complex going through market adjustments. Again, 10/10 overall experience.
Maya Johnson: I’ve lived here since 2020 , my primary concern during the time of my residency is management.I would describe the culture here as a bully culture. If you speak up for yourself you will encounter conflict. In this review I will go into detail.Poor Communication:Curator has been complicit in this behavior as they refuse to respond to my emails.Jennifer Burch informed me that any emails that I sent to CPM would be redirected to her.I wanted to have a conversation with curator property management to notify them of the treatment I’ve received. My emails were redirected to Jennifer.I never spoke to anyone above Jennifer, my issues were never resolvedIntimidation:I have had multiple complaints regarding Kevin Centala , leasing agent for his disrespectful and demeaning dialogue . After making complaints, he retaliated and actually left a harsh/ threatening voicemail.I’ve always questioned if my complaint was reported to curator property management.Anything I would report would go to Jennifer only .Harassment/ Retaliation:As I mentioned earlier , If you speak up for yourself you will encounter conflict. I unfortunately received retaliation for speaking up.Things began to become uncomfortable for me , my privacy was invaded . Can you imagine just waking up and a man is in your unit ?I did not receive common courtesy as other residents.A mechanic was sent to my unit without notifying me.I am a single woman that lives alone. A male mechanic entered into my unit without me being aware .Money Extortion:1) Can you imagine being told your rent was raised by $591.00, you had a choice of paying it or being forced to move in 4 days in the winter ?2) As I attempt to pay my final payment for my lease , management attempted to charge me for an additional month.Example : my lease ends May 1st . They attempted to charge me for an entire month of May3) I notified leasing that I wouldn’t need parking for my final month , I was charged anyway.Circumvent Housing Laws:1) I was mislead and told my unit was leased to another person, but online it was available.2) I was offered a higher price and given different terms and conditions for my unit than other residents3) I wasn’t given the option of viewing other apartments after asking repeatedly.I’ve endured a lot of unfairness during this lease at the Farwell . I feel as if my concerns were unheard and minimized by Jennifer Burch .I would really like a chance to voice my concerns to Curator Property Management . Please contact me at your earliest convenience
Carmen Johnson: The old bait and switch. Jennifer in management started out nice when ws were signing lease. One year in it is clear she is a liar. We are reporting this company to the State Attorney General's office. Management has lied, been disrespectful, antagonistic, and threatening. Details will follow..
cj1richt: I lived there for about 14 months and I thought it was an all around great experience. The finishings in the apartment are really nice and I doubt you’ll find a nicer entrance way and atrium in Detroit, it’s really spectacular. I thought the management office was always fair and reasonable on all fronts. Liked having in unit wash/dryer. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for an elevated living experience in Downtown Detroit
Annika Barkovic: The Farwell is the best place to live in downtown Detroit. The building is gorgeous and the management is very easy to work with and accommodating. The rooftop has a grill and seating area that has amazing views of the city. The building is within walking distance to all major attractions. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking to rent in downtown Detroit!
Sarah Bostwick: After 3 weeks living at The Farwell, I've had positive, professional interactions with management, particularly Sydney Cox. She looks out for me. There's no prettier building. The neighborhood can't be beat in terms of location, amenities, history, entertainment, walkability, access to Détroit's (limited) public transport. The Farwell's rooftop is hard to beat and gives me outdoor space even though my flat doesn't have any private outdoor space. Matt responded to my maintenance requests the same day. Wow.
Christopher Bell: PROS:Capital Park is (in my opinion) the best place to live in Downtown Detroit. The Farwell is a great place to live. I've been told I'm uncultured when it comes to appreciating historic architecture, but even I could tell the Farwell was beautifully renovated. The management team is quick to respond to questions and maintenance requests are completed promptly. Special shout out to Property Manager Nikki. The rooftop is probably the best place in Detroit to hang out and appreciate summer weather this year with everything going on.Having spent way more time than I imagined in my apartment during quarantine, I can say the furnishings (kitchen, bathroom, island) worked great and had no issues.I really enjoyed my time at the Farwell and would have re-signed if not for the no-pet policy and cost of living downtown while the major attractions of Detroit are shutdown (ie sports, live events). However, The Farwell is competitively priced for similar apartments in the area.Cons:No pets allowed. The recently built dog park in Capital Park just taunts you with all the new puppies walking around. This is one of the main reasons I decided to not renew my lease.Washer/dryer (2-in-1 single unit) makes doing a single, normal load of laundry a whole day event. It takes 4-6 hours to dry clothes (not exaggerating). This made me go full college mode and bring bulkier laundry to my parents house when visiting. Never submitted a maintenance request for this, so they may be able to address this.Parking in Urban coffee lot. Paying $275 a month for this seemed too high for a structure that is falling apart and under construction for the past 4 months (Although, I'm assuming construction is there to fix the falling apartness). Really improved my parking skills as every space is slightly a different shape/size. However, and most importantly, I had no issues with security or garage access while parking here.
Sudip Datta: Horrible, unprofessional, and fraudulent management. Avoid at all costs!!! The management is predatory and totally unresponsive. It's a trap - they will be very nice to you until you sign the lease and then the real unprofessional behavior towards tenants begins.Edit--Responding to the Response from Owner: My son has attempted to contact various representatives of the Farwell (Jennifer, Nikki, and Sydney) about excessive and baseless fines assessed, but it is impossible to get a hold of anyone. Emails are never responded to, and phone calls are blocked.BTW, the recent positive reviews within the last three hours are very suspicious and connected with CUrator Property Mgmt. to boost ratings.
Arun Datta: If I could give this place zero stars, I would. From the moment I moved in, I realized that management treats its tenants as prisoners and cash cows to be milked, not as paying customers. It is impossible to get ahold of anyone if you have questions or need help. Whenever you call, you get hit with the voicemail box, no one ever answers the phone and no one is ever available in the lobby to help when needed. At the same time, they are very efficient at frivolously fining their tenants for the smallest of "infractions". Jennifer Burch, Sydney Cox, and Nikki (Kaniqua Lee) are the biggest culprits.Just talked to Nikki today, she promised to get back to me by EOD (5 pm), and as usual I have yet to hear back from her (and probably never will).
Gabriella Barbieri: Beautiful downtown apartment. I love living in capitol park. The ease of access to all the shops and restaurants is very convenient . The building is very inviting, and management easy to work with. To top it Beautiful rooftop and upstairs grill, making night in magical
Maddy Latuszek: I’ve been living here for a couple months now and I’m so glad I made the move! It is a beautiful building and a great neighborhood to live in. Amazing views and a great location. Management has always been helpful and quick responding to my questions, a stark contrast from the previous location I lived. Love living here!

St. Regis House Apartments: what do users think?
Michelle Gardner: Management never responds. Expect to reach out every day for a solid week or so through various mediums (call, email, attempting to show up to the office in-person only to find an empty locked room) before getting maintenance requests resolved or other general complaints. Also, the elevators *never* work simultaneously. Maybe they did for a solid 3 months out of the 4 years I’ve lived here. Speaking of maintenance, better hope things break only twice a week because those are the only times maintenance is available.Upsides: rent is affordable for the area and there’s no noisy neighbors (just noisy hotel guests and rude hotel staff).Update 9/11: this place charges $125/mo per parking spot. Just called the tow company since someone from the hotel is yet again parked in my spot. Guess what? No tow company for the last THREE years.
Danielle Dirks: I've been at St Regis for several years now and I still adore it. The building was restored to perfection a few years ago and has kept so many of its relics (like the historic vault when you first enter the lobby).New Center is up and coming. Being so close to the Fisher Building is pure magic and the addition of Supino's Pizzeria, Milwaukee Caffe, Urbanum, and so many cute shops on Woodward make this neighborhood super walkable and pup-friendly.The property management company shepherded the residents through the pandemic safely and seamlessly. The current team (Kati the Community Manager and Zach the Property Manager) is fantastic and their response times and professionalism are a much welcomed breath of fresh air. This summer weekend my AC went out and Zach not only responded within minutes, he had an HVAC contractor out within 45 minutes to address the issue immediately. So beyond grateful to not only for the AC to return, but the knowledge that the building management treats their residents kindly and takes care of the building as well.So grateful to have a wonderful space in the city and can't wait to see all that comes next for this neighborhood and building!
Jupiter Zhang: Nice place. I live here for two years. Everything is clean and new.
Katrina King: I’ve applied to a unit & gave the 150 holding fee for this place almost 3 weeks ago and have gotten no response back. I’ve tried calling several times every day and get no response, I also tried emailing. Poor management, I can imagine how long maintenance would take.
Ali Rastegarpour: We lived here for four years from 2016-2020 and have seen a few changes in management. I have to say that during this period I have nothing bad to say about any of the managers. They have always been super helpful people and the apartment was always the most welcoming place for us. The neighbors here were great. The apartment complex is very safe and conveniently located in New Center with great access to Wayne State, Detroit Medical Center, and Henry Ford Hospital. We had no problems in the unit itself which was newly renovated with in-unit washer-dryers, and we frequently utilized the community room for gatherings pre-COVID, which was very accessible and available. The southern view of Detroit was beautiful and the rooms received good light. The neighboring St Regis Hotel is a local staple, and the restaurant and bar, the Music Room, is great for when you need a bite or a drink and don't want to leave the building!
Carolyn Mozheeva: Great place to live. The layout of the apartments is well designed for maximum use of space. There are large windows and an in unit washer/dryer. Half of the walls are concrete so we have no issues with noise from neighbors. The staff is very responsive and friendly. You actually see them working every day in the lobby at their office so you can stop in and talk if needed. They make a great effort of doing little events and gestures to make you feel welcome and included in the community. The location is great as it is a minutes walk from the Q-line which you can take directly downtown. There is gated parking and it is very close to the Fisher building and the freeway.
David Kajmowicz: New building with great amenities. Love the spot on Grand Blvd too and just outside is the Q line!
Steven Collareno: Just moved in a few weeks ago. Move in process is really nice and easy. They give you a small cart to help you move in and allow you to park close to the door when moving in. The apartment itself is modern and looks really nice. All the appliances are updated. Staff is readily available-Alan and Taela are awesome.
Erynn Wahlgren: We moved here from out of state, sight unseen and could not be happier. The apartment and building are comfortable with nice touches throughout. The staff is wonderful. Maintence is prompt. The location is second to none. We are less than a block away from the Q Line (A trolley that travels from New Center to Downtown via Woodward Avenue) which makes getting to the office a snap. We have easy freeway access to M10, I-75, and I-94. The bike storage is very nice and has an air pump. The Fisher Building is One block over and the Secretary of State is across the street ... and a decent gym is a very short walk as well. The amenities and convenience of this location are hard to beat. Regis Houze has far exceeded my expectations.
Evan Morgan: Its great, modern renovations to a classic building in New Center Detroit. Great service/management team!
Chris Binno: My roommate and I had a wonderful experience living here! The location in New Center, Detroit is perfect! - close to the Fisher Building, Cadillac Place, Wayne State University, short drive to the major highways, and good food in the area. There was also a gym kiddie-corner to the building which I used everyday. The apartments are very modern and newly renovated. The lobby is gorgeous and has a really cool old fashioned bank vault on display. I used the indoor bike garage the whole time I lived here. The community room is newly decorated and has an awesome kitchen, lounge, bathrooms, and a billiards table. We had a laundry machine and dishwasher in our apartment which made living super convenient! Keeley, Jimmie, Susana, Evan, and the housekeeping staff are all awesome and made living here a great experience!

El Moore Lodge & Residences: what do users think?
Jennifer Fike: We were in Detroit for a wedding at the Garden Theater and was very convenient location. Stayed in the starlight cabin. Needed a room with a pullout since wanted to have an option for additional family to stay if they didn't want to drive back. Love the sustainable renovation of the building. Felt safe, secure and welcoming. Just one issue was the room was too warm and the heat wouldn't lower.
Eve Hinz: Even better than expected! Stayed in the Moonbeam Cabin for two nights. Beautiful view, warm and cozy aesthetic, a welcoming front desk, next door to a coffee shop/market, walking distance to lots of great food and shops. 10/10 would recommend.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Will Scott: From arrival to departure we were impressed constantly. We stayed in the moonbeam suite and the view was stunning. We were going to stay elsewhere, but a colleague insisted we try the El Moore and I'm so very glad that we did! This place will be on our future destination list for sure! If I could, I'd give it 6-stars!!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Mary Krumbein: I had to contact the staff about some special accommodations. I did not end up booking here, but the staff was very prompt in answering my question and would have been able to handle my request had I booked. I would definitely book with them if traveling solo or as a couple.Service: 5/5 …More
Laura Wood: This place really exceeded our expectations! We staying in one of the Parkview rooms and it was clean and spacious. The aesthetic of the hotel was really pleasing, with well-kept grounds and a private, gated parking area. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and gave personal service. The breakfast in the morning was delicious - homemade mushroom quiche, good coffee, and toast with delicious jam. This really has more of a bed and breakfast feel than a hotel, and very reasonably priced, with a wide variety of rooms to choose from. In walking distance of many restaurants and venues in the area. We will be back!
Dan Hughson: We enjoyed a wonderful stay in Detroit at El Moore. All of the staff was great. Maie checked us in and had great suggestions for places to eat. Quiche on the breakfast buffet on Saturday morning was very good.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5Hotel highlights Great value …More
Eric Karno: Wonderful unique boutique hotel in a great Midtown location.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Nikoe Oliver: My husband and I stayed here in December and even in the cold, the outdoor view and rooftop patio were amazing! My only gripe was our cabin not having a microwave. Unless I missed it, that was a huge inconvenience when trying to heat up snacks!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Jahil Parker: Sorry for the late posting. I stayed here Oct 2021 for two nights in the small room with bunk beds. The room was actually decent and had the perfect setup for a short quick stay. My only concern was the cleaning of the bed frames. I always check what I'm sleeping on. Underneath the mattress were tons of dead crickets and smalll bugs. Thankfully none of them were bedbugs and there were no blood stains. My room was on the bottom floor so I can Understand the presence of crickets but what's not okay is that they were clearly dead and had been there for a while. It looks as if the room was reset sheets and mattress covers were changed and they just ignored the bugs. I don't have pictures sadly since I'm just remembering I didnt leav my review last year. If you check this place out make sure to check the bed frame and have them clean it. I didn't want to stress my partner out so I didnt mention it to them until we left. Also the price is at a good point.
J Frances: Clean, beautiful units, pleasant garden area and common area similar to an English Bed & Breakfast. Safe & easy to access parking lot that’s secured. Cafe next door for any quick bites or coffee/tea, and community gardens next to cafe. Kind staff. Also there are random events like Jurassic Park movie night in Greenhouse with free snacks and drinks - very cute!
Emma Shortt: Everything about my stay was super, from the warm welcome to the lovely room and delicious breakfast. The team were very friendly and helpful.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Sharla Hunter: Stayed at the El Moore Lodge for New Years Eve 2021 and this hotel is very nice. The secure parking was definitely a plus as well as how to access everything upon arrival. I stayed in the Moonbeam Cabin and it was exactly like the pictures online. For anyone who stays here in the future they do offer Netflix and Youtube TV. The views are spectacular and I would definitely stay here again. The only downside I would say is not being able to access other streaming apps such as Hulu when doing so it asked for a pin, also no phone to be able to call downstairs if needed.
Benson May: Lovely experience overall. Exactly as pictured, our room was exceptionally clean and well stocked with numerous cute welcome snacks/tea/coffee. All-stone shower was a highlight. We stayed in the room with bunk beds and an in-suite bathroom, the space was perfect for two and felt spacious with the separate dining table under the bay windows! Each staff member we met was friendly and excited to share restaurant recommendations and advice about Detroit, and helped make our experience five-star!
Jessica Montgomery: The rooms and views were beautiful. Extremely nice and helpful staff. The only issue we encountered was slow internet service. We will definitely stay again.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Ken King: This hotel is a real gem. Beautifully restored building in a great location. We stayed in one of the spacious rooftop cabins and it was wonderful with terrific balcony views. Very friendly and helpful staff. The secure parking was a real plus. We will stay there again.
Ordabek Duissen: It's a really nice hotel, enjoyed it!
Colleen Lyon: Beautiful, unique hotel. Wonderful location and great views. One of our best hotel stays.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Nic R: In 2019 while watching Fox 2 News, they ran a story on this hotel and I immediately put it in my phone notes. Covid happened, the world stopped and I never had a chance to book a room. Well as soon as it was safe again to venture out into the world, the El Moore was my 1st stop, and it was well worth the wait! From the service, to the rooms; it was a perfect staycation and welcome back, to “normal” gift to us. We booked the Starlight cabin and it was breathtaking. The room, the view, the grounds, the service; everything was top notch. OH! Let me not forget the bed; this bed slept like a cloud. We wished we’d booked another night just to lay in the bed! LOL The only bad thing and I wouldn’t call it bad is, they don’t have an ice machine, but they do have an ice bucket, so you can always grab your own from the local store; we went to CVS! 😃 We were walking distance to the world famous Italian restaurant, Mario’s. There are tons of bars and restaurants to choose from, rather dining in or carrying out. If you’re looking for something unique, beautiful, romantic as well as economically feasible, look no further! The El Moore leaves you wanting more and more! We will definitely be back.
Emily Obert: Has cute looking cabins, but none of them are wheelchair accessible. I don't understand how people are allowed to build inaccessible hotels/hostels. This place is a brand new renovation and pretends to be ethical
kendra komp: We really enjoyed our stay in this gorgeously restored gem! We stayed in the beautiful and comfortable Starlight Cabin. It was quiet, peaceful, and relaxing. Our balcony overlooked the community garden and from the huge windows we could see all of Midtown and all the way downtown to the Ren Cen. The neighborhood is beautiful and there are so many restaurants and bars nearby, most of which have patios/outdoor areas which is so important during Covid. I felt very safe staying here. The room was spotless and private. I would highly recommend staying here! It is the perfect place if visiting Detroit or for a staycation.

DuCharme Place: what do users think?
gabrielle ohara: DuCharme Place has been a great place to live! The apartments are so open, spacious, and newly renovated. I feel safe living here. The location is close to down town and grocery stores which is perfect. Lynn has been wonderful and so helpful. If I ever have a question or need help with anything she is always so timely with her responses. I highly recommend living here!
Namtran Lam: I’ve lived at Ducharme for 2 years now and I really like it here. It’s in a quiet area and there are several places to get groceries nearby. Lynn and Jameson are easy to reach and quick to help fix things including maintenance requests. Highly recommend living here!
Cat Ferrara: My favorite place I’ve ever lived! The location is prime- close to downtown, but with a little more breathing space. Walking distance to grocery shopping, the River walk, the Dequindre Cut, and so much more. Lafayette Park itself is absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for people who love being active outdoors. The staff is very friendly, Lynn and Jameson will make you feel right at home upon move-in and throughout the length of your stay. They are very proactive with taking care of any issues that need to be handled. One thing I love about this complex is that it’s always super clean. Lashanda keeps this place sparkling and smelling fresh. It’s always a pleasure to run into any of them! The units are gorgeous, high ceilings, and everything is modern. I will say, the walls are on the thinner, so if hearing other people living in their apartments is a problem for you, just keep that in mind. That’s honestly my one complaint, but still giving it 5 stars because I love it here so much. This is actually my second time living here! I moved away for a year to help my family out, and missed it so much that I moved back.I feel safe here. I haven’t had any problems. I love the gym, I love the pool, and I love my apartment itself. There is no other place I would rather live in the city.
Tau Brown: Lynn has been great! Prompt responses to questions & concerns very helpful! & always professional!
Padmakar Reddy Surapu Reddy: I have been living here since 2020, very nice place, friendly management. Phil is amazing & friendly resolves issues swiftly!!
Zamar Garris: Please is extremely well kept and clean Lashanda Carter does an amazing job
Srikanth Pillai: These are some of the best apartments I have stayed in. When it comes down to it, the most important things for me are cleanliness, safety, and a management that is responsive to tenant's needs. This is exactly what my experience has been with DuCharme Place. When appliances go out or other work is needed, they are quick to respond- there is an actual 24hr maintenance service. The housekeeping staff Lashawnda keeps every lobby, hallway, elevator, and amenity space clean and inviting. There is overnight security present daily, making me feel a lot safer leaving my car in the garage. I would wholeheartedly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay in Detroit.
Kelly: My husband and I have been residents at DuCharme Place for almost five years now and love the community! The staff is THE BEST. Everyone is super friendly and reliable. Lynn is always readily available and quick to address any concerns. Lashanda puts in so much work to keep the community clean, and it really shows. It’s a great location with a park next door, multiple grocery stores in walking distance, and a 10-minute walk to downtown. The units are spacious with tall ceilings and large windows. They also have in-unit washers and dryers, which is hard to find downtown.
Markus M: Great Community. The area is great. The management takes great care of the facility. Lynn is amazingThanks also to Lashanda for the vacuum ;)
Karin: Nice community. Lynn the Leasing Consultant is great, helpful and reliable!!
Rebecca Stone: LaShanda keeps DuCharme Place spotless. She is so kind and always does a great job.
Salina Tewelde: Lynn D. Was an amazing tour guide. She showed us two properties and we love them both the best part about the tour was learning about the space learning about the people who live there and all the amenities. We really enjoyed learning how to decorate our space and make it ours. We also loved the daylight, the real plants around the property and the friendly staff. We ran into very nice tenants, and they gave us wonderful insight on how great the property and management are.
Mariam Sareini: I’ve lived here since august of 2022. As someone who has been living downtown for quite sometime I’m sad that i didn’t find this place sooner. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Whenever there is an issue they get it done asap. Couple things to note, at night they keep the lights for the deck on full blast which kinda sucks for people living on the 3rd floor because it shines right into the bedroom. It is a pricey apartment and wish it was cheaper since it is kind of cheaply built considering the fact that the balcony is full of rust and the flooring is cheap vinyl. All in all it’s a cool spot, they keep it clean and up to date and the kitchens are absolutely amazing.
Andrew Robertson: Love the location and the property managers (Jameson and Lynn) some of the best people I have worked with. Anything I need they are always helping or at least keeping me updated. I wish they managed every place I stay at.
Brittany B: I’ve lived here since June 2022 and it’s been okay. I love the location and on the surface it’s a nice complex.Pros:•Smooth application process•Quick responses and helpful property managers•Location is fantastic•Free street parking•Security for all apartment buildings in the area and dequinder cut•Spacious units•No ground level apartments because parking is the first floorCons(I’m gonna sound like a Karen, but for the rent prices, I think I’m allowed):•My apartment was not flipped well at all. The worst professional paint and cleaning job I’ve ever seen. There are paint drops on the floor, different shades of white, and the fuchsia paint they were trying to cover is clearly visible. There are stains in the tub (not from me) that will not come out, not matter how hard I scrub.•No checkout sheet was done after the last tenant so any damage I missed on my checkin sheet will be my responsibility. That also meant outlets didn’t work, the dishwasher was broken plus there were things/food/bugs left in there, my washer didn’t drain properly, etc.•When you fill out a maintenance form, you aren’t given a day/time when they’ll arrive. They just show up when they show up. They are pretty quick with the turn around though.•Cheap vinyl floors that damage easily, I had to glue down a cut in the flooring because it kept catching on my socks.•Garbage piles up in the cubbies quickly and only one building has 2 dumpsters.•According to your lease, you are not allowed to use second hand furniture, yet a sofa and multiple mattresses have been in the garbage area since I moved in months ago. I get it, tenants shouldn’t leave large items, but it’s been MONTHS•There’s a $40 fee to pay rent online•Packages are all sent to one building on the 3rd floor. It’s a hassle if you have large items being delivered.•Parking is fairly expensive for not being downtown•Not enough building entrances. A lot of exits, but you can only enter the building through the gates or the glass door.
gnarly oak: the keypads and electronic door fabs have not been working since 8pm last night due to a brief power outage. residents are locked out, we have let in more than 30 people including packages deliveries in the past 11 hours (as tenets ourselves). now people can’t leave the parking structure with their cars. there is no security guard. no one is answering calls. when is someone going to fix this urgent safety issue???
Lia Sharon: I have lived here for 2 years now and would highly recommend it. Brian and the rest of the management team were extremely accommodating when I had to move in, in a pinch, with little notice to them. No apartment management company is perfect, but Ducharme by far has been the best complex I have lived in over the last few years of renting at many places. The units are all modern and nice, the grounds are great and well maintained, and the heated pool is amazing in the summer. If you have to live near downtown Detroit, this complex is the best value for your money. The complex is very quiet, mostly young professionals living here, and we've never had an issue with neighbors. The only major downsides are how much parking in the garage costs per month and the maintenance team isn't the best. But otherwise I would recommend Ducharme place to anyone looking to live in the area.
Brady: I have lived here for a little over a year, and I absolutely love this place. The apartments feel brand new, have high ceilings, large glass windows. These apartments are amazing. The utilities are all brand new as well. Beautiful swimming pool, amazing gym. Large garage with plenty of spaces. Right next to downtown, river walk, dequinder cut. This place is great.I do not think any of these negative reviews have actually lived here. The heat/AC is perfectly fine, and work very fast. Management is great, and always responds quickly. The only time I ever had an issue was when a large and loud party was thrown in the pool area at late hours, and management sent an email to all residents saying they will take action against any resident who disturbs the community again. I never even had to complain.I absolutely love living here.
Abdul walee paul: Very Comfortable, the patio door gets a bit cold in these Michigan winters. Not a fan of the heating vent location in the living room area,. But over all it's a nice quite Community.
Jasmine Moore: Did not have a good experience living here and apartments are the cheapest built apartments I've ever lived in. The walls are paper thin and the carper doesn't have padding.
Adel Hijazi: I have a few friends who live here. Tend to spend a lot of time here.Pros:Decent pricing, great amenities, updated kitchens, clean rooms and building, great parking.Cons:Heating and cooling is inefficient. Bills can be pricey.Biggest thing: management that just doesn't care. Whether its responding to any concern or getting your paperwork to you on time. For example, there has been a party bus that blasts music at all hours of day (including the am) just outside the building. 10+ residents have complained. Guess what the management has done? Absolutely nothing.Overall great building to live in, just don't expect to sleep. Which is really too bad because most residents seem to be young professionals.

Town Residences: what do users think?
Arii B: Matt is great , always on time . Gets the job done no problem (:
Sandy Lawhorn: I can NOT express the love I have for the management team here at Town Residence. Greg and his team are by far the best management team I've had EVER❤️ They go above and beyond. This is a great place to live. I have recommended them to my family and friends. Great job Greg and your team!!!! I am so glad to be apart of this community.
Lindsay Alyssa: New management as of 2023 is awesome! They fixed our lingering lack of hot water issue fast! They’re very friendly and make sure that the building is clean
Jad Hamdan: Moved in Q4 of last year and have only seen the place continue to improve:1. New management team is fantastic, approachable, and super responsive.2. A couple maintenance requests were taken care of in less than 24hrs.3. Doug, the afternoon/evening front desk team member is an absolute joy.4. The cleaning schedule occurrances have increased from what I can tell.5. Elevators are being worked on, and will hopefully be done soon. 🤞
Emma Johnson: This is my first apartment in Detroit! It has been a great place to live! Since VG has taken over there has been so many improvements very quickly! Appliances are nice and work great! Rooms are great, not extremely spacious but if you set the room up correctly you will have plenty of room! Closet is very spacious which is great. I have always felt safe on this property. Great views! Maintenance always responds in a timely manner and gets the job done! Fire alarms do go off every now and then but this issue has gotten better. Elevators have never been an issue for me! Doug at the front desk is just the best! Very personable and just a great person! Community laundry room is sometimes a pain but once you figure out the best time to go to do your laundry its not a problem at all! Package system is very safe and I have never had any problems. All the residents here are extremely nice. Amenities are nice too, 24/7 gym and rooftop patio which you cannot beat! Great view and my favorite thing to show off whenever I have visitors. For the prices here you really cannot beat it!
Mathieu AJ: Despite providing a letter confirming my current employment, the rental office rejected my application. They required a job offer letter and demanded 4 paychecks, even though I had just started the job. Surprisingly, they didn't ask for a bank statement showing my ability to pay rent. I offered to pay six months upfront, but they refused, claiming it would be unfair to other applicants and residents. Instead, they asked me to find a guarantor. After seeking advice from friends who are contractors and a lawyer, I discovered that the office was being prejudiced. In the end, I found a new place at a higher rate but was accepted for a 12-month lease using the same documents. This demonstrates that Town Residences was discriminatory in their treatment of my application.
Aaron Jones: Best place to live in the heart of Detroit! Always friendly staff. Maintenance is quick to respond and repair efficiently. The regular, day concierge is absolutely an amazing guy. I would be sad the day he leaves! He makes our day!
Darrien Barton: As a resident for 3 years, I have seen this building go through many changes. The current management has really done a terrific job at giving Towne Residence a facelift!Greg is reasonably accommodating and a pleasure to see and interact with everyday. Talia and Ashley are excellent additions to the front office team, and have shown support and understanding in times that Ive needed it.There are pros and cons to any and everything in life, with that said I truly appreciate my home at Towne Residence and am happy to be a resident.
Andrew Clark: I liked town residences for the most part. Its a really good deal for the location. The rooms are small, but its the price you pay for such a prime location.People complain about the fire alarms, but I appreciated that they were working and would alert residents of potential issues. There were some small issues when I got there, but there a new property manager James and he seems very competent. The staff is very friendly and there are lots of amenities like washers/dryers that can be via credit card, gym and lounge. Overall not to bad.Downsides are, the elevators were broken frequently, but one was always up.EDIT: I also got by security deposit back!!!
Jalnisha McCurtis: I just moved in not too long ago and the new manager has been so helpful the whole team actually I just love it here. any problems I ever had they fixed them and I appreciate them so much. I’m so happy I moved here.
odessa murphy: Do not move to this place 😒 They do not fix anything. I have complained about my sink leaking and not being installed properly since I moved here in November 22 and it still has not been fixed! They have attempted to fix (rig) the sink 2-3 times and today I am woke up by a huge boom and the sink had caved in and the pipes and screws are all apart. No one should be forced to live this way especially paying the amount we pay for rent. Although the apartment had changed management companies the same incompetent handy men still work for the apartment. Here is an update on my sink. My sink had finally been installed and updated properly. So far I have not had any problems . Once I showed management the picture of the sink I posted here it was fixed with in hours. The new management team definitely got my issue resolved. Updating rating to 3 stars.
Sarah Ahmad: Matt the maintenance supervisor really does the job fast and 100% accurate. He is also very professional and really cares about his tenants. Thank you
Megan Q.: the new building manager is approachable and very nice. Doug, the night desk staff, is the best. He's a great face to come home to every night. The view of the city is something I will miss along with the big windows that let in a lot of light. The apartment, itself, was nice. Nice floors, nice appliances, cupboards, and lots of closet space. The bathroom was nice and easy to keep clean. It felt like a 5-star hotel. Moved because I had to be closer to work. The construction has lessened over the past year. One of the elevators is still on the frits, but if you don't want to wait, you can ask to use the freight elevator, and they will usually let you. If you are moving in or out you can also use the freight elevator. I used it for big bulky furniture and if you park in the back it makes things a lot easier.
Vyas Shenoy: Good view. Needs some maintenance
Team DdubbMusic: I Don’t Even Know Where To Start I Still Haven’t Gotten My Deposit
y b: 9/10/22See you in court!8/28/22At this point, it is clear that the residents and the safety and concerns of the residents is not a priority to Rock Companies (management agent) as well as Triton Investment Company (owner). Therefore, the residents will take action to make it clear that changes/improvements must occur immediately! Stay tuned.8/20/22Sadly, Town Residences remains an unsafe and unpleasant place to live. This is due to the fact that there is a resident who is allowed to continue to run an after hours club out of their penthouse apartment, even after numerous complaints from residents. The general public is loitering outside of the building which now resembles a flop house. There is a person who is either legitimately armed security or posing as legitimate armed security. If the person has been hired by property management, then all residents should have been informed. If not hired by property management, then it is a liability issue because the person is armed! However, that being said, if this resident is allowed to continue to use the residential building as a public space, then it becomes a legal issue as well as a liability issue and a law enforcement issue for all of the residents in the building.July 2022Unfortunately, Town Residences has become an unpleasant and unsafe place to live. A resident who lives on the penthouse floor is running an after hours club out of their apartment. Every weekend the general public is allowed to come into the building to go to the "after hours club." The public is wandering throughout the building. The fire department has been called several times to get people trapped in the elevator. Management has been informed and has done nothing about it!It appears that Rock Companies is using the building as a training ground for those with little to no experience in property management. The turnover rate is very high.
Mr Moor: CAUTION!!!! Don’t move here first of all I would like to start by saying this was by far the best 250 dollar deposit I’ve ever spent these people have made a crusader out of me, My deposit was scammed from me the property manager and staff are at best incompetent and by the way business is being conducted this place is doomed… Please read and take heed to all these reviews they are accurate and informative if you are looking for affordable prices and reasonable accommodations look elsewhere this place has to many flaws to list I will be following up on my reviews as well as informing the public about Town Residents please stay away from here and stay tuned!!!!!!
Adriana Nunez: Went for a tour & had a great experience. The one thing I liked the most was how convenient the location is. Nearby campus martius, cork town, & southwest Detroit. Thank you to Talia for giving me the information needed & great tour. She was friendly, courteous, & very knowledgeable.
100 WiresEnt: It’s a no for me with the new manager James
Ouie louie studios: The new manager James seems shady and wants to fine residents because the capacity on the elevator says “2,000lbs” but breaks down if there’s more than 5 people on it. How about FIX the problem instead of blaming it on tenants.
Philly Paul: 5. Common areas (stairways, hallways

The Boulevard: what do users think?
Katrina Hand: I’ve had the best experience living at The Boulevard and I’m so happy I was able to resign with the apartment I wanted! The Boulevard staff - Antonio, Mariena and Mallory were so helpful throughout the process and are always responsive to questions and requests. I highly recommend The Boulevard to anyone who values customer service & easy communication, quiet living + the extra amenities.
Lamia Hafiz: The staff at the boulevard are fantastic! Malaree the manager is great! Antonio is just the nicest and most helpful person you will ever meet! I also want to give a shout out to Kass who helped with maintance and went above and beyond.
Heather Stone: Antonio is great! Very friendly and nice to chat with.(My guest passes for parking are not working and we are trying to get it figured out)
Samuel Esters: I’m really happy with my service at The Boulevard and Antonio is one of my favorite employees! Thanks man!
Shanelle: Antonio in the leasing office is such a caring hard worker and the absolute best employee! He is always happy to help residents and puts a huge smile on all of our faces! My lease signing experience was made effortless thanks to him and since then he has made my time at The Boulevard welcoming and so great! Would recommend The Boulevard to anyone looking for residence with friendly staff and beautiful living spaces!!
Stephen Weatherholt: Have loved living at the Boulevard since it opened, on the cusp of downtown, but part of a quieter neighborhood. It’s a walk across the street to a friendly convince store, up the street to a coffee shop or cocktail lounge and restaurants (Cuisine - contemporary French and Northern Lights - pub which I hear is opening back up soon). All my neighbors have been friendly faces in the halls and Antonio in the office always has a smile. It’s what city living should be, a neighborhood of welcoming people, walking around everywhere and within close proximity to what’s quickly becoming a major-city downtown again (now we need real mass transit to go with the pieces we have).
Shaina Herbert: The Boulevard is such a dope spot in Detroit. I was given a tour by Mariena, and she made me feel right at home. She was very detailed and answered all of my questions thoroughly. The whole team was very welcoming overall. I’ve heard great things so I had to go see for myself! Thank you Boulevard team!
Anam Ansari: I lived at the boulevard apartments for a year and enjoyed my stay. The amenities are new and very nice. It’s a very Safe apartment complex with awesome garage parking. I don’t have any negative things to say, I highly recommend living here.
Courtney Pearce: This place was recommended to me by a friend so I came and toured the building. The space is nice and the amenities were awesome. Mariena was also really helpful in showing me around! May be moving here in the future.
Kelsey Foote: My amazing friend Mariena lives here and recommended I take a tour - it's amazing! Clean, modern, PERFECT location, and the amenities are great. Definitely my first choice for living in Detroit!
Brianna Morck: The boulevard was super clean and the first home to my newborn son! I felt so safe alone with him knowing there was security around the clock, and you had to have a key fob to enter the building or go up the elevators. Mariena was extremely helpful when she saw me struggling with varying the baby and multiple items she would go out of her way to open the elevator for me so I didn’t have to put things down then pick them back up until I got to my door. 10 out of 10 recommended this place for any other mother’s out there looking for a clean and safe place in the metro Detroit area!
Jonathan Johnson: This was the greatest experience I’ve had renting in Michigan. The unit was exactly as advertised, with an excellent view, and the greatest amenities. The courtyard was perfect for grilling on a hot day and snowball fights in the winter time. On more than one occasion we enjoyed the night playing pool and lounging in the game room, and I was able to keep up with my workout regiment the entire time all without ever leaving the building. Mariena was extremely tentative. She was always responsive and would even let us know if we had Amazon packages arrive. When it’s time to move back to Detroit I will most definitely be coming back to the boulevard!
Daniela Borges: This apartment is beautiful and exactly how it looks online. Everyone at the leasing office has been polite and professional. A special thank you to Leo from the leasing office who went above and beyond for me and helped me move my couch in!
Emma Weatherholt: I’ve lived a lot of places and there has never been a place like this one. It checks off all my boxes.Everyone here from the manger, to the front desk, maintenance, and the people that live there are just truly amazing. I was one of the first people to move in and I haven’t been disappointed once.(Id love to give names but honestly everyone that works for the boulevard is truly amazing)Even during this pandemic; they are always keeping you updated and answering questions. If you need something fixed or have questions or a problem it is addressed right away in such a positive way.Just by far an amazing place.
Jace R: Hard to recommend a place that doesn't respect privacy. Landlord barged into my place unannounced and was apathetic and rude to me the entire time we spoke. Would recommend looking elsewhere in the area.
Edward Cho: Shaina, Jamison and Chelsea are the best! I moved from the Pacific Northwest and they have done everything possible to make this move as easy as possible.
Alexis: This apartment complex is so nice! The girl who i went on tour with Shaina showed me the 1 bedroom . The work out roomis fully equipped, spacious and it has mirrors! Love that! The washer/dryer being inside the apartment is on my list as well as a the gym. The location is perfect, its close to my job. I loved the tour so much she was very sweet I'm looking forward to moving here.
Justine Hawkins: This apartment is really nice with amazing features, the gym facility and common space is beautiful. There coffee and hot drinks are phenomenal!! Jamison and his team are really helpful, our business has been utilizing an apartment space for a few months now and its been nothing short of an amazing experience. Definitely highly recommend checking out this space.

The Griswold: what do users think?
Brendan M Brogan: Chantal and Terrell make the place a home. As do the neighbors under Colleen’s command at the Park Rite in the building below. If life were fair, these folks would all get a raise.
Matthew Spickler: Lived in the Griswold for 5 years. Truly enjoyed my experience. Chantal and Terrell took great care of the building and tenants. Air conditioning was always great.
Kirby Mendola: Chantal was very easy to work with and I didn't have any significant issues with the building throughout my stay. I just had a significant challenge getting my security deposit back and corporate was not responsive to my inquiries which made it very difficult.
Kiara Phelps: Management is great, apartment is great. However, the elevators never work. I live on the lowest floor possible (11), and hiking up the stairs is BRUTAL.
Alyssa Wright: Chantal and Terrell went above and beyond to make my 2 years at the Griswold such a great experience. They were both so professional and kind, and they will do anything to make their residents feel at home!
Liz Moore: My husband and I have lived at the Griswold for 2 years and it has been the best experience. Great location, convenient parking, spacious units, and lots of natural light. Awesome views if you can get a higher floor. Chantal and Terrell truly care about the residents - they have been incredibly helpful, responsive, and dedicated to resident safety/happiness. Highly recommend to anyone looking to live downtown Detroit!
Aunna Pourang: Chantal and Tyrell are awesome and super professional, kind and accommodating. They have been super responsive and helpful. The apt and building are beautiful with great views of downtown Detroit. In a great area with nice restaurants and shops. I am moving back to Detroit in a year and have already been asking about how I can lease an apt at The Griswold ASAP!
Marisa Menna: CHANTEL was amazing!! I currently live in the Griswold and have zero complaints about the property and management. It feels like home and a great location! Very pleased 10000/10 :)
James Jurecki: Chantal and Tyrell were wonderful to work with! It was an incredible 1.5 yrs. living there and highly recommend anyone looking to enjoy the Downtown Detroit lifestyle to call Chantal immediately.
Daniel Lentz: I'm from Farmington Hills originally and left Detroit for 13 years. Upon returning back to Michigan, I couldn't resist living downtown for 12 months to soak in how cool the city has become. The building and atmosphere were amazing but the staff of Chantal and Tyrell were what made The Griswold feel like home. They handled everything inside of the building and were beyond responsive and caring. You could tell they both were invested in the well-being of their tenants and their actions proved it. If I didn't have to grow up, I'd never leave.
Amir Jabalameli: have lived at the Griswold for about a year!Great experience from beginning to end!-- The apartments are less than 2-3 years old and all the appliances are almost new,- - Great location and nice views,-- You barely hear noises in your apt,-- Maintenance Requests are handled pretty quick,-- Common areas are always clean,-- Management and staff were responsive and nice,-- Never had issues with the elevators. There’s literally nothing to complain about!
Zack McDermott: If you like a building with one elevator from the parking garage, and enjoy being forced to walk up flights of stairs after it breaks, then this is the building for you.
Roni Leibovitch: Griswold and Michigan Ave is a highly underrated corner within the spokes of Detroit pavement. Enjoy a Europeanesque Capitol Park to your north, or a century-old rivalry to your south vis-a-vis American v Lafayette.
