Ariana Mann: The food was good and the staff friendly. I ordered the beet salad but added some things I saw from the side salad, as well as fried chicken thigh and they happily accommodated. There was also a boombox thing and video games. I had a pleasant experience!

Heather K: We had a huge birthday celebration at this gem of a venue, and it was nothing short of amazing all the way around! Delicious food, amazing service, and very clean! They made the menu based off of our budget and food preferences, and it was spectacular. They have a back room there and there is a pool table back there, and they set up giant Jenga and Connect Four for everyone. Total blast! We will certainly turn to them the next time we have a party!

Paul Gullick: We popped in for a light snack whilst visiting the city center. They've got a great range of beers, the location is perfect and there's plenty of space. However the service left a bit to be desired. Our waitress took ages with our drinks and forgot the 2nd round we ordered. The food was tasty though. As we'd travelled over from Wales this fell well short of the renowned American service levels we hear about and experienced else where.

Daniel Luscombe: I’ve been to Grand Trunk a dozen times over the years, sometimes with a group of friends or after/before weddings or events. Great food and atmosphere. So it was a natural choice when a group of us wanted to get drinks after a friends wedding. 5 Stars to the friendly and efficient bartender who served us! - However, it has been a long time since I’ve met servers that rude. The place was dead empty and we arrived in good spirits, certainly not unruly— and we were greeted like the plague! He whined and complained, slapped appetizers on the table (showering pickle chips on a guest) and said he was expecting another large party (who never did appear?) — I can honestly say we were pretty low maintenance, and the bartender quickly helped organize tabs and made sure we got drinks- I believe it is a bit of a wedding tradition to leave generous tips- so I hope she was the beneficiary of this! — If I ran Forans - I’d speak to your server— we felt so unwelcome we started looking for another spot, but luckily the bartender sorted it out pretty easy, so we could all have a nice time

Hana Fiore: I haven’t had a chance to eat here yet, but needed to leave a review on the employees or possible manager I believe I got to speak too today. I was grabbing pizza from next door and unfortunately blew a tire turning into the street. As soon as I pulled into a spot on the road he made sure I knew I had a flat. Went a grabbed my food, where then him and his friend met me and asked if I needed help but had told them I called my boyfriend who was coming to change the tire. His tools died and they happily let him charge them inside. After we couldn’t get them off he offered and brought us out pops while we tried to get the tire off before calling a tow truck. I have been parked next to his building for hours and even was told we were more than welcome inside to warm up. We will definitely make it a point to stop and get food from these wonderful people soon. Thank you so much for your kindness

We tried a number of beers (they have the Jolly Pumpkin sours, and the North Peak line of "normal" beers). You have to order from your phone, server came and said hi then was non existent. Appetizers & Starters came out at the same time as entrees. You have to get your own cups, plates and silverware. But there were no cups, plates, or silverware stocked. When i finally got my dishes & cutlery, I noticed they switched to cheap, flimsy & porous plastic dishes that were still wet from being washed but yet still dirty? Fosho not going back to this location. This is more on par with a college food court lol.

Christian Johnson: Terrible experience! Staff is rude ! We got seated and only was seen by our server one time ! The GM came over to ask and completely started an argument with everybody and totally ruined the night! We spent over $100 with the establishment just for them to give horrible service. Sibi Sebastian: Over the last year or so, they really downsized the menu, and unfortunately the food quality has suffered as well. I have given it multiple chances, but I don't think I'll return. I've had the warm pretzel, nachos and most recently the hangover burger with onion rings. The quality is just mediocre. Even using comps, it just isn't worth eating sub par quality food.It's a shame, because in the past, I thought the food quality was much higher. It seemed like what a craft bar would serve. Almost "from scratch" standards. Now, the ingredients taste like they came from a GFS type store.I also feel bad for the bartenders. I've been there a few times, during the weekends, and they had to shut down half the bar due to low staffing. The bartenders have to turn away paying customers, just to service what they can handle. I'll give them credit, as they have ALWAYS hustled the customers who can grab a seat.

Katherine S: We sat at the bar for drinks for about an hour before a show. The bartenders were clearly put out by us needing a drink, but approached male customers with no issues. We had to work overtime to flag someone down. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, the entire sink area and floor was covered by used paper towels. We won’t be back.

Tom Abbott III: Cool place. Zero communication though. The phone number on their website is not working so you can't call them. If you leave them a message they do not get back with you at all, or at least not in a timely manner (messaged yesterday and no response today). It says on Google that the Tavern is open from Sunday to Saturday from 10AM - 10PM. That is not updated and incorrect. It is only open for events like Tigers game and Fox Theater events. But the only way you can know for sure if they are open is by actually being there in person to see with your own eyes that it's open. Nothing listed on their website other than "Open for certain events.." No way to call them to confirm they are open. And no response to messages. Good luck planning anything with them.

G Money: We visited during the great Detroit flood. Every restaurant was closed due to Covid or due to the flooding. Town pump was open and AMAZING. They treated our party of 8 like family. We sat comfortably out of the heat and had an affordable amazing lunch. They did a great job catering to my wife and son's gluten allergy! Such a great place. We'll return for sure!
