Nick Vlahantones: Are you looking for the best restaurant in Detroit? You found it.The atmosphere is authentic and warm. The service is caring, professional and respectful. Most importantly the food and drink is next level. You can enjoy any fit of dinning… like charcuterie and wine pairings to wagyu strips and prime aged tomahawk steaks. Or find a spot at the bar and enjoy a prime burger (wow!)Thank you Vertical Detroit.
Erick Haynes: On the way home there was open discussion  about our experience, and we decided to share some notes. We were a party of 4 on a Thursday  night. It was not crowded. The drinks  were great. We ordered super troopers  2.0. Great flavors paired with tequlia. The salads  were  great! The entrée was  salmon(grilled maybe?) in a shallow mushroom broth. It wasn't full of flavor, but it wasnt over cooked.  Bread  pudding was decent, a little more dense than I would've expected, but it was a doughnut bread puddling. The portion  size wasn't great because we went home hungry. Our servers/bussers  sort  of circled  our table too much, and we all felt a little rushed. Our table was unofficially cleared. Our bill was about $350 ( auto gratuity included for 4 people). I forget the percentage  they charged and may have missed the policy, too. These actions made us feel rushed as we were celebrating. Please tell your wait staff not to remove paid full water bottle and glasses while patrons are finishing their experience. It may have been like 8:30/9ish when we realized the waiter was waiting to clock out. We're not sure if dinner would be an idea. Maybe well try again in a smaller party or meet up for maybe cocktails.Overall for the amount of money we spent, I would've expected the experience to match.
jeanine krapfl: The ambiance of Vertical gets you right as you enter the restaurant. Our dining was amongst wine bottles. It was intimate and cozy. Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. Our meals were excellent! Our party of four agreed we need to come back!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Double Bone Pork Chop, House Made Focaccia, Pear and Blue Cheese Salad, Lamb Chops, Risotto, Smoked Trout Toast …More

Joe Abbate: Excellent dining experience. Gordon, Chef Matt and our server Jamie were outstanding. The food was fantastic and highly recommend.
Jeff Schneider: 5 stars is not enough! Hidden gem in the D! The Ragu was better than your grandma makes!

Nicole Rogers: My husband and I went here for our 17th Anniversary and had a lovely time. Our waitress Iesha was so good. She was busy but still checked in with us and made sure we were enjoying our dining experience. The manager, Gordon, also checked in with us a couple of times and was pleasant and accommodating. Our food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend the grape appetizer, it's like nothing I've had before. My husband had the duck special and I had the filet and both were cooked and seasoned well.We were pleasantly surprised when two desserts were brought out to us on the house. For our anniversary? I don't know, but it was so thoughtful. And by the way, if you want a dessert to die for, get the doughnut bread pudding. It's one of the best desserts I've had.

SheWolf Pastificio & Bar: what do users think?
Randy S: Phenomenal food, great service, upscale trendy atmosphere.
S Ahmed: Vibes were immaculate, food was delicious. But unless you’re tryna pay $30 for 6 pieces of noodles ain’t worth it. Left hungry and broke
Kristian Hulgard: Best meal I’ve had in a long time. All the dishes I tried was absolutely lovely.Fantastic food and a down to earth atmosphere….. my kind of place. Special shout out to Michael, the sommelier, who kept bringing awesome pairings.10/10
Allie Piippo: Beautiful decor and excellent service, but the food was overpriced. It was good, but nothing you can't get better, more creatively, somewhere else in Detroit at a more reasonable price point. Appetizers were better than the entrées.Food: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Stuffed Pasta, Carpaccio …More
Kamal Alashkar: SheWolf is a culinary gem! From start to finish, our experience was exceptional. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the service was impeccable, and the food was simply extraordinary. The staff at SheWolf were attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing our dining experience. We were truly impressed by the passion and dedication of the entire team. For an unforgettable Italian dining experience, don't miss the chance to visit SheWolf!
Elizabeth Mansfield: What I had was wonderful, but only had one drink and an app because bartenders gave terrible service so I left. This is the first time I have left a $0 tip.
Ryan Gabrielli: Loved the vibe here, service was great, food was delicious. Yes, it was pricey, but we knew ahead of time the prices and what we expected to pay.
Vincent Brennan: Expensive but VERY good.
MT: We really enjoyed our meal at SW. that said, I truly hoped for “Pasta” to be the centerpiece. It wasn’t. Advertising as house made pasta , and it sure is, our dishes were all centers around either the protein or the sauce. Even ciabatta bread was served with butter not EVOO.We will probably be eating here again but next time we shall ask for just pasta with fresh w and some great olive oil on it.

Keith Kruelskie: Great tasting menu. The pasta course was definitely the highlight - as well as the pistachio gelato!
Stephan Smith: Pricy but well worth it. Don't be awed by dishes where the ingredients don't sound like they go together. They do. The pasta is made in-house! Completely awesome food and great service 🤟🤟Dietary restrictions: Gluten free pasta
Dana Mowat: Ridiculously overrated 'Italian' food. This was a huge miss. If you know Italian food-this is not it.Food: 2/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
Andrew: I can't say enough good things about this place. The expressions of joy on my face say it all everytime we eat here. HIGHLY recommend doing the chefs tasting and definitely get their aged Negroni whenever they are making them. Ryan Aguirre: Delicious and authentic Italian food! Cute restaurant with a great menu, and I would recommend the Curate (tasting menu) if you’re celebrating something special. It’s pricey, but there wasn’t a bad bite on the entire menu.Recommended dishes Carpaccio …More
Annie McLaughlin: One of my favorite eating experiences since moving to the Detroit area. Great vibes. Superb service. And if you go on a busy night, the chef makes fresh risotto and brings it around on a cart. Highly recommended, everything we ate was absolutely delicious.Dietary restrictions accommodated Vegetarian Recommendation for vegetarians Not sure Vegetarian offerings Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes …More

Shannon Kay: My husband and I enjoyed the chef curated menu. They were accommodating to my pescatarian diet and the fish and dishes were full of flavor! I have to say I underestimated it because of the small portions but we left and I was full!
Josh J: The food was pretty mediocre, for the price I definitely expected more...gelato and cocktails were nice though.

The Royce Detroit: what do users think?
C. McD. Goodrich: Great wines by the glass and a well manicured selection of wines by the bottle. It's not an overwhelming selection, but a very good one. The meats and cheeses are mostly typical with some interesting options sprinkled in (smoked duck is terrific). I always enjoy my visits here and make it a point to stop in when I'm in town.
Frederick R: Great staff. Really cute 😍 ☺️
Timothy Emmitt: Very good wine by the glass
Harald Dickel: We visited all wine bars in the city and this is the best! A great list of open wines and good selection. Fair prices
Mary Bostic: Went randomly one night they had karaoke that night had a blast it's got another level inside everyone was friendly and very welcoming everyone supported one another even if you couldn't sing the songs with karaoke and also have their own different types of why and even offer you to buy it while in there and you can drink your own bottle of wine at the table and very nice low-key spa and everything is done through cure skin you cure scanned your order for drinks food and you QR scan your songs for karaoke bar staff was nice welcoming environment and haven't been to a decent place and a long time and I give this 5 Stars this is not meant for a younger crowd this is strictly for 25 and up and people who are on their grown ish. It's a small business not a lot of room but do host private party's
Curt Swogger: So good! Bobby and the team are awesome. Love the variety of wines. Love that the vineyards are owned and operated by women. Come in, grab a bottle, get some charcuterie and relax. All the wines are presented by density and the staff are knowledgeable to help find one to your liking. Sit up stairs for some privacy. It's our goto before we "walkabout". Good times!
Andres Saavedra: Great environment and friendly staff, cocktails were on point. Will recommend to anyone who’s looking for a chill spot, perhaps a quit date place
Emily Jantz: I cannot describe how wonderful this place is. The bookshelves of wine complete with sliding ladders give it such a cozy vibe, the staff is welcoming and warm, and the wines are diverse and delicious. This is my favorite place in Detroit for a cozy date night or a long conversation catching up with a friend or two. If you love wine, you'll adore this place; if you don't know much about wine, ask the staff for a suggestion and they're always spot-on. And on top of all of that, the wine tastings on Wednesdays are free and often run by a small business owner. You won't regret trying it! (There's often street parking a block or two west if you're not finding any, fyi.)
Rosy Hobson: My friend took me here. Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely spot. We sat upstairs in the loft area which is a very decent size. I enjoyed every sip of my Spanish wine. Considering the quality, the price is reasonable. Ideal for those who want a romantic evening or just want to hang and talk with a friend. There is also plenty of room for bigger groups. If you love wine and is searchihg for something "different",  this is the place.
Shawn Nolastname: I left Pure Vin to take my friends to The Royce. Walked in at 10:36pm they told us it was last call. You're a wine bar not a traditional bar. I will never visit The Royce again!!!
Niall McCarthy: Great unique wine selection and helpful employees
Kirsten: We love The Royce! They always have a great selection of wines and are very helpful in answering any questions we have. Their prices are great as well.
Kory Bevacqua: Great bottle selection. Love the wine cocktails! Always great service too.
Keith Miller: Stopped in for a beer and wine. Got a great meat and cheese tray. Can't spell charcuterie board
Perry Columbus: I love this place. It has some of the best decor and ambiance in the city. I am a memeber of the wine club. Ping makes sure that this place has only the best. Always great selections. My favorite eats/pairing uses are the white anchovies, the manchego and the chorizo.
Britney Sallen: A fantastic wine bar - we love the wine classes as well. Delicious charcuterie
Arber Velencia: I absolutely love this place. The staff is incredible and so knowledgeable. This is THE place to go. And they are LGBTQ friendly which is always a plus
Eugene C: I have been going to Royce since it has opened and for the first time I have had a bad experience at checkout. A wine bar should never have a corkage fee if they are charging retail prices the wine (which I served myself). Corking fees are for restaurants that allow you to bring in your own bottle of wine. THIS IS NOT TYPICAL. I purchased a 20 something dollar bottle of wine and found out at checkout that there was an additional $15 corkage fee. I’ve been going here for six years and Typically spend over $100 each time. I am debating I’m not going back.
Marisa Hamel Casazza: The wine here is amazing. Be aware there’s a $15 in-house wine corkage fee. I’ve been coming here for 6 years and today was the first day they’ve imposed the fee. Not sure how a $15 fee on a $20 bottle of wine makes sense. I love Royce and understand that there’s a high price to bringing great wines to us. But I don’t understand the high corkage fee (also served myself the wine).
Karen Kubicki: Very disappointed in the selection of the menu, slow service
Michael Timofeev: Great selection of wines and accompanied food. Coming from Germany where European wine is quite affordable it is a costly adventure. Nevertheless, I can recommend it very much. Great service! Try the truffle brie!

Abram Banman: Service was good but the food was hit or miss. We ordered many appetizers and some nice wine. The Brussel sprouts were not good at all, my wife didn’t enjoy her fish, but my steak was perfectly cooked and delicious.
Mike Star: I pray I promise you I will never die in here again over an hour to get our food and then they argue with you I’ll take my business gladly somewhere else.
Jason Carter: The atmosphere was nice. The staff was also pleasant. It was not what I would have expected from a restaurant that has such good reviews though. The wait staff was slow. The orders for our table completely missed the timing mark as none of the plates came out together, one was given to another table, one was severely overcooked and one was undercooked, the promised dessert for the meal that was given away never came to fruition, they forgot to bring out an appetizer...I am sure this place has earned their high and glowing reviews but they also earned this one. Not sure I will decide to ever go back but I can check it off my list of 'Detroit Must-do's'. Just wish we got the experience like others who rave about the place...

The Apparatus Room: what do users think?
Helen Izbor: Regrettably, my visit to The Apparatus Room was characterized by a disappointing dining experience that left an indelible negative impression. The troubles began even before the food arrived, stemming from a rather poorly managed environment and less-than-adequate service.Upon being seated, we were immediately faced with a disheartening sight: neighboring tables in disarray, dirty, with cleaning supplies carelessly strewn about. An unsightly beginning that was far from the welcome one would expect from a reputable restaurant. Our server, an older woman, was far from accommodating. When we pointed out the messy surroundings and asked for tidying up, her response was one of visible annoyance. What should have been a basic service request was met with apparent indifference. More than ten minutes passed before our request was begrudgingly attended to, and only after a second reminder.Regrettably, the shortcomings of the evening were not confined to service and cleanliness. The food, a supposed redeeming factor, fell significantly short of expectations. Our dishes lacked flavor, with the taste profiles bordering on the side of bland. A particularly disappointing example was an avocado tart that was so poorly presented we felt compelled to return it. For a restaurant that is supposed to provide a high-quality dining experience, the food was a letdown.Overall, it was a waste of time and money. Until significant improvements are made, I find it hard to recommend this establishment.
Avneet Hall: I love how the restaurant has maintained the historic charm of the building and is modern at the same time. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. I only have good things to say about this place. Definitely a gem in downtown Detroit.
Adrien Hello: Overall, the food was solid if not a bit overpriced. I'm not sure if our waiter was the exception, but the waitstaff was fairly cold and not very polite.Food: 4/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
HK S: I wanted to provide a feedback about my experience at Apparatus room on Feb 19th.We were seated at the long chairs in the back of the restaurant. When I enquired about table #44 with the waiter and then with the host she told me that it is reserved. I asked how is it so when I had made the reservation and I was explicitly told that table 44 is what would be reserved for me. She said she didn't see anything in the notes. I asked her "how would I even know about a table #44 if someone didn't tell me about it from the restaurant?" She didn't seem to have any cognizance of what is being told to her and was insinuating that I had not made a reservation because she said that people at table #44 had made the reservation. So then I enquired about another table which was empty and requested if we could be moved there. After initial refusal and me wanting to talk with the manager, we were moved to table #45.This seems very poor customer service skills by not acknowledging that the mistake was on the restaurant's side. I even showed the email interaction between the restaurant and myself to the waiter who was initially talking with us.For food, I got the celery dish. The dish was very salty. I told our waiter and all she said was she will let the chef know. There were limited vegetarian options on the menu and everything had pungent, vinegar like smell in it; the bread and crispy potatoes (which btw were not crispy at all). No way this dish should even be on the menu. It was one of the weirdest dishes I have ever tried.Ultimately our night didn't go as we had planned and food was definitely disappointing to say the least. After I emailed the restaurant about my experience, I was told that someone from management will reach out to me to discuss my experience which never happened. I'll not be going back to this restaurant or recommend anyone.

tammy wu: I paid $48 dollars for halibut, and I am still hungry. We spent $183 not including tip and my tummy is literally still growling. We ate bread with butter, beef carpaccio, flank steak, very soggy and wet cold fries, and halibut. We ordered the mains and sides as per the waitress’ recommendation. The portions are TINY. The halibut was littered with spring onions and regular onions which I did not eat. I still want to kiss my date after this meal. They garnished it with 6 peas. The “new potato” is VERY THINLY SLICED garnishing potato with zero seasoning. The only thing that was truly edible was the tiny portion of fish for $48 which was average at best. My dish was also the most expensive??? We are on our way to pick up something to fill me up on the way back to our hotel or else I’m having sleep for dinner. Tragic meal.

Scott Craig: Amazingly disappointing experience at the Apparatus Room. The price gauging for 3 cocktails is unbelievable. We were charged $30 for a drink that would typically cost $20 (high end). We were also told that in Detroit all drinks use 2oz of liquor- when in fact the drink is equal parts at 3/4-1oz each. Troubling and very disappointing. I expect more from Detroit.

They were knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. We were celebrating my son's graduation from U of M, and they helped make the evening even more special with their attentive service and personable manner.
Donovan E: First visit to this establishment. The hostess was very welcoming and polite. Beautiful decor with ample outdoor seating. The wait staff was very attentive- a little too much at times.. Our steaks were good but very salty. The drinks were good as well. Expect to spend about $300 for dinner with 2 drinks. Check out the lower level decor. Very well done and unique.

Mallory Sosa: Today I cam in to get tacos while on my 30 minute break. I asked the server or tender, she was blonde with short hair, for two breakfast tacos. I was waiting for over 20mins for two tacos, I asked the server (who was talking to her friend the whole time) when they would be ready because I only had 5mins left for my break, she said she just checked and the kitchen never got the ticket and they were making them on the fly. It took her over 20mins to check and she did not relay any information to me, i had to ask her. When i told her feel like this happens a lot, she stated "we're working on it." She then stated "we can make you coffees of the house". Please ensure your servers are checking on guests food and drinks and not talking to their friends.

Steven Rose: Recent visit: original visit was a 5 star and with recent visit overall 2 star at best. Synopsis the food was great the pace and quality of the staff was deplorable. Will not be visiting again. Hopefully everyone gets the servers from our original visit and not the current ones. They have all the elements of a perfect evening dinner. From the greeting at the door, the personal suggestions, the conversations, the quality of food and overall experience. Every month we have dinner on the 5th at a different restaurant and hands down they outperformed all the restaurants within 200 miles of Detroit. Congratulations to this restaurant for exceeding expectations in every aspect!!
Unwrittentilthisday: Food was great despite the menu being a little odd, as was my server and the managers customer service was excellent. But the hostess made my Mother’s Day quite unenjoyable, and made our visit uncomfortable. My partner and I were sat at a small table surrounded by others, all getting checked up on by servers. We were given drink menus and water + bread, but no one came back to check on us for an entire hour. We ended up just leaving. No one noticed that we never got served. A server did bring us the drink menu but they never came back. We had somewhere to be so I didn’t have the time or desire to make a stink about it, but this was VERY surprising for such a nice restaurant. Super disappointing. Almost felt on purpose. My partner and I aren’t usually part of the fancier crowd, but I would hope we weren’t treated this way because of that.
Sarah Berlasty: Picture this: you walk in to prime and proper. You usually have reservations, but tonight, you don’t. Daniel, greats you with a genuine smile and a shared enthusiasm for your passion of Waygu. They’re obviously very busy, though you’d never know it by Daniel’s aloof yet comprised demeanour. You wait for a moment at the front door, hoping for maybe a spot to open at the bar. All of a sudden, the waiter you had months ago, catches your eye and he whispers, “sushi”. He remembers the two Canadian Geese who wandered in here months prior who owned sushi restraints across the water. We were then prompted with champagne and a couple more friendly visits from our inductee Daniel, the night took off like fire works. Still our favourite restaurant in Detroit and we will visit again hastily.
Scott Rohlig: It’s like if Ponderosa Steakhouse opened a night club
Ali Husain: Welcoming staff, kenny’s recommendation was excellent. Delicious Dover sole .
Brandon Williams: Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Shrimp Cocktail, Roasted Bone Marrow, Tomahawk Ribeye SteakMore
Josh Denzler: Fantastic fine dining. In terms of appetizers, I would recommend the bone marrow and tartare - absolutely scrumptious. I had the NY Strip for the main and it did not disappoint. That carrots were awesome, and I highly, highly recommend the mac and cheese. The peanut butter pave and butter cake were excellent choices for dessert as well. It's a pricey spot, but a great place for a romantic dinner or an important business meal.
George K. Warren: Great atmosphere, Awesome service!!!!My wife and I were blessed to be served by Eric who had a relaxing and professional approach to our dining experience. This was my first time in, and from the greeting we got by Daniel I knew we were in the right place. Eric was attentive, kind, and personable..but he still gave us time to eat and talk on our own. By the time we needed him he was already at the table checking on us. This was all at brunch..I can’t wait to come back on a date and request him, thanks again. Prime and Proper 10/10 👍🏽
Whitney Warren: Best customer service EVER. My husband and I were greeted immediately by the host Daniel who was nice and accommodating for a view looking directly outside.Eric was our server who was also VERY accommodating and knowledgeable about the menu. He was on time we didn’t have to seek him out, very professional! All service was amazing even down to the water refill! Perfect conclusion to our weekend getaway!

Kevin Metro (Metro): Had a fantastic time at the tea brunch with my wife. The fare was quite reasonable for what we received and our waiter was fantastic. The savory scone was by far the best part and interestingly they said that it was new.
Lisa Boughton: Awesome venue and their beef wellington is exceptional. The only reason I did not give a 5 on the food was because the cake was quite dry on all of our desserts.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Food Service, The Beef Wellington …More
Jasmine Irani: The Whitney Mansion is a beautiful property with a lot of history. I visited the Ghost Bar on the 3rd floor and ordered the "Witching Hour" drink. It was supposed to be layered tableside, however, the mixologist looked at me from behind the bar (as though I didn't know) and made the drink at the bar. Also, the staff encourages the exploration of the mansion and the area around it (horse stables, garden, exterior of mansion, etc.). But while observing the exterior of the mansion for it's architecture, I was told to wait around in the garden at the front as though I was being suspicious. I didn't like being treated like that.
Crystal Marie: I thoroughly enjoyed the tea service at the Whitney. The staff was amazing, and I got rave reviews on my hat selection (tea time.always requires a hat, lol). The tea menu was delicious and just enough bites to accompany the tea and mimosa. YES! You heard right tea AND mimosa! We drank tea as my girlfriend and I spilled some tea too! Will definitely be returning. I wish they still did their brunch on Sundays.
Deborah Adkins: Attended a private dinner event in this beautiful historic mansion. The food was outstanding!

Laura Santo: We celebrated our 29th anniversary and our friends 1st anniversary at the Whitney. A wonderful experience from the time we arrived, until we left. Everyone from the valet, to the piano man, to our waiter was amazing, attentive, and professional. The food was excellent. Nancy Vadasz: Very disappointed in the food and service. The beef in beef Wellington was cook very good but the pastry was very doughy, the vegetables were quite raw. The dessert was dried yellow cake with ganache on top. As I looked around I saw many plates left behind with this dessert only half eaten. The server bought out dishes before we were finished with the plate at hand. The table was messy with crumbs and no service to clean was attempted.Needless to say, we will not be returning!
taylor shipp: Well, the service was okay but the food wasn’t the best. Sent back the beef Wellington three times but it was still rare and had pink. However, the staff was very friendly.

Kenz M: It's about time I leave a review. I had a date here earlier in the year & recently came back with him as my boyfriend. From the red carpet - to being escorted in by a friendly worker - this restaurant has become one of my favorite places to dine in. You're not only paying for quality food, but an intimate atmosphere and top notch service.I've gotten to glimpse the gardens but haven't been to the ghost bar [yet.]I'm not in the habit of taking photos of my food but best believe it looked good, tasted even better, and I rarely eat meat.I love it here.

Robert Dege: Just stopped in for a drink after dinner. Very nice wine list. Not your usual labels. Finger foody type menu. Small. Bar seating but also some overstuffed chairs. Outside seating in warmer weather.

Ian Fredlund: Attempted to have drinks this evening (5:50):Was asked how large our party was, two was our response, and the waiter/host told us to “come back in 20 and try later”.He didn’t take our name, was dismissive and short with us…it’s a bummer; my wife and I have been really looking forward to coming here.
