Curtis Larish: I wish I could go lower than 1 star! Buyer Beware! I signed up in 2018 and even though I called them every month they sold all of the equipment I had already paid for to other divers!!!! I had left it on the rack for students inbetween classes and kept in constant communication! I bought the $4,000 package and so did my wife. In 2022 we cancelled the rest of our order because after 4 years they still could not provide most of the stuff we had already paid for. My dive instructor was not competent or able to teach my class let alone complete the open water exam so I had to transfer the course to Columbus SCUBA Inc. in Ohio to take my open water test at the same quarry Scuba Centers uses and this cost me an additional $100. After multiple complaints and asking to speak to someone else you are always turned back to Paul, the worst customer service employee I have ever met. Lazy, takes no notes, has no idea what you take or what he gives you. He sold my wife used equipment and gave mine away to other people even though it was labeled. My regulator had dives logged on it from a retreat the center had taken and then they "re-boxed" it to use claiming it was new. Sorry, computers have logs and do not lie. Every time I've been to the store since 2018 they had empty shelves and make excuses. Don't buy it if you can't walk out the door with it!!! Worse business I've ever seen!

He informed me of suits for the area an 2 piece. I been researching so much gear just pricey to start up is killer. Cant wait to hit the water soon an learn . Just bummed out need cert. To use pool . June far away wish there was way to train indoors till then piecing gear together an making payments cause course is both indoor an outdoors but weather holds off. Can u train before June if suit keeps warm diver .

ed morris: I have been coming to this shop for years(for snorkeling gear) and got certified in scuba with their help 2 years ago. Paul and his staff have always been very kind / helpful and on a couple occasions, actually talked me out of buying things they knew wouldn't work for my specific needs (even though I was ready to hand over cash to order them). Ted Marsh: Paul helped my fiancee find a wetsuit in her size, and even stayed past closing to make sure we had the right fit, and helped us with all the information we needed. You won't get that kind of service from an online store, we were very impressed, and plan to come back for classes.

Trevor Vasher: I first came to this place with absolutely no knowledge of diving, except knowing that I wanted to try it.Everyone at the shop has always been very respectful and helpful to me, guiding me and my girlfriend/dive buddy through the certification process. We still go in to rent equipment and use the pool and I have had nothing but positive experiences here.Definitely one of the coolest and most unique businesses Downriver.

DUSTY: Everytime I've been in the shop, everyone has been extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I'm active duty and only in town for a very short time, each time I'm here. They went out of their way, two seperate times, to help me out when it was totally unexpected but much appreciated! There's only 2 dive shops in Michigan that I'll go to and Scuba Centers is my number 1!

David Kasper: The standard for snorkeling and dive travel in the Midwest. Whenever I'm thinking about going tropical, talking to Rec Diving and Diane is the best place to start. When possible, the group trips are my preference because the leader takes care of everything and the other people are fun to hang around. I also get my gear there . . . just upgraded my fins to a nice set of Scubapro Twin Jet Max with the spring heels.

Chris Robinson: Fantastic place. They planned a trip for my fiancé and I that was incredible! Diane and Taylor took care of everything. From airfare and resort bookings, to our excursions on and off the island. (at no cost to us!) I highly recommend.

They are family friendly and offer a scuba ranger program for kids 8 years and older. All 3 of my kids were certified thru Rec Diving. They treat their clients like family. They have planned many dive trips for my family and all have been great.I'm a big fan of Rec Diving

You can really tell they love what they do and want to share the amazing dive experience with you. Not only are they great at helping you find what you need, booking trips and servicing your gear but their classes are amazing. The instructors are super patient and are willing to go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and have the best experience possible. This dive shop is truly one of a kind and I couldn't image going anywhere else.

Bill Bovensiep: Terrible, went in to buy a burst disc and sure got a lesson about how I am not a technician and could not possibly be as educated as this man. I explained 26 years ago I was treated this was and considered it to be due to my young age. Now in my 40’s it seems the only constant is, Rec Dive is still rude and condescending. For anyone not experienced in diving I would not recommend going to this place. If you like them your perception is probably due to your inexperience and they feed on that. When approached by someone that will not take them at face value you will find the attitude changes and you too will be enlighten to a culture of arrogance. It is my intention to not only write this review but to tell everyone, do not spend your money in this store.

Linda Pletz: In October, 2022, I failed at snorkeling in Key West, FL due to rough waters and inexperience. In preparation for my upcoming trip to Hawaii and my desire to snorkel, I decided to take a snorkeling class. I found Motor City Scuba & Snorkeling and I'm SO glad I did!! My instructor, Amanda, was wonderful and gave me great tips in a local pool for 2 hours. It was well worth the time and money and helped me greatly to achieve snorkeling in Hawaii. I am thrilled with my snorkeling adventure in Hawaii!! I highly recommend Mike, Amanda and the crew at Motor City if you wish to achieve your snorkeling goal like I did!! THANK YOU TO MOTOR CITY!!!!! I didn't find the prices so great, but the store was extremely well stocked and the quality seems very high (you get what you pay for). We should have gear that lasts for a very, very long time.

Scott Siddall: I've been a certified diver for over 30 years and I can honestly say this is the best shop I've used. The instructors and staff are knowledgeable, friendly and kind. MCS has good inventory for a small shop. They have GREAT dive trips that are never, ever cancelled. ;-) Also, outside of the gear, trips and training, if you're a fan of Patrick Swayze and like to have fun, I would recommend Motor City Scuba - go see Mike and Chuck. 5 STARS! ;-)
