Midtown Yoga Wellness Center: what do users think?
William Cooper: Great studio, great workouts! Love Yama with Armenak & Hot Pilates with Jen & Mimi - excellent instructors!
Christopher Chapman: Great studio. Only thing I'd say is staff should consider posting signs for people not to wear perfume.... Bikrim rooms are not a good place to show off your Channel
Nicole Tischler: Great classes and teachers. The interior space is conducive to yoga practice and is very well designed.
Anquinette Mosley: This past Sunday (07/17/2022) was my first experience with yoga and to top that HOT YOGA🔥🔥🔥🔥 But I only have great things to say about my experience. My instructor (Evelena) was very personable and easy going which made me feel very comfortable. The veteran participants were also welcoming. The ambience was serene and peaceful. And the decor was tropical with “Zen vibes”. Very clean pristine atmosphere. I was delightfully pleased and plan to make Hot Yoga a part of my regimen. It was indeed challenging but the end result was quite worth the 90 minutes 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽Had a very restful night😴😴😴 and wonderful energy filled day thus far.
lilah kole: I started doing Bikram over a year ago. By far the BEST yoga experience I have ever had, with all of the instructors being incredible.
Liz Beth: Excellent place to relax and sweat ...atmosphere is like family ...instructor are awesome make feel comfortable
Charlene Williams: Positive:Professionalism,QualityWonderful first time experience, encouraging, motivating!! Love it!!
Margaux Canup: Great studio, instructors and sense of community.
John Gifford: Positive:ProfessionalismThis studio is fantastic. Great instructors, owner is attentive and dedicated to running a business as it should be done. Great customer service. Detroit is lucky to have this place of practice. Would give 10 stars if I could.
Mika Carter: I really needed this... very hot and humid 90 minutes intense yoga. Thank you so much💝💝💝
iog supply: One of the few places both brave and genuine enough to still offer this buisness model to the community. Cant wait till i can afford to start my own hot yoga model downriver
Daniel Edwards: Terrific studio and teachers, very welcoming!
Super Hero: Great yoga studio, top shelf instructor
Derek: A great place for mind and body wellness!
Jennifer Wiseman: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Stephene Martin: I have always had a great experience here.
Angie Fernandez: I love this studio! They offer so many different types of classes. I personally love the Pilates and HIIT classes. The instructors are so nice and the studio is always clean!
The Talbot Team Matthew Talbot Realtor: It has been a pleasure attending this studio. As a beginner the environment was fantastic to learn and felt very judgement free. My girlfriend and other friends are much more advanced in their practices and love the traditional Bikram classes and the other classes the studio has to offer. If you are a newbie or practiced yogi, this is a great place to go!
Warner Desilets: Loved my first class here and the instructor was great!
katy riley: ‘The cure for anything is salt water - sweat, tears or the sea.’ -Isak DinesonAmen !
Janice Metzger: Wanting to delve deeper into yoga and find a place I could practice outside of my home, I made a spreadsheet of local [to me] yoga studios. Bikram Yoga Midtown scored high on my list of 5 criteria. The location has free parking available, is centrally located to my work and home, showers on site, a diverse crowd, and reduced prices for students. Additionally, they have classes early in the morning and classes late into the evening. The space is beautiful, and [I felt] beautifully maintained. If you have any mobility concerns there are stairs to get up to the office space and stairs to get into the yoga space. Be prepared to remove your shoes in the entry way. Also, there isn't a wooden floor in the practice space -- it's a different, softer material. I found the cushion provided by this softer material was easier on my knees and feet. The crowd was diverse in gender, race, and age. I was the chunky lady, and I received no eye rolls and no sneers. No one was unkind to me in the locker room. I didn't feel anyone watched me while I was practicing, except the instructor who provided me with a correction to form. In fact, I felt a little relieved to see other students taking breaks on their mat -- people here really seem to know their bodies, they know their own limits, and there was no external judgement in what a body could and couldn't do in any given session. This was reinforced by the instructor. The instructor greeted me warmly in the office area and checked back in with me on my way out from the class. During class she offered a modification to one of the poses when I was struggling. I liked her, and would like to take a different, less intense class, with her.Now the reasons for 4 stars rather than 5 :1. Overall, the Bikram 90 is not really welcoming for beginners. The instructor checks in with students, but does not practice "with you". I found myself watching other students to ensure I was entering and holding poses correctly. Also, the instruction, while positive and motivating, was quite fast and detailed. I didn't feel I could keep up with the speed of the instructions and was confused at times. I was reluctant to ask any questions because I was nervous I would be interrupting the instructor and thus interrupting the class for my peers.2. Additionally, I like when there is some space for silence while holding poses or the rate is a bit slower/soothing, because it allows me to focus on my own body and movements rather than splitting my attention. The rate of instruction I experienced was fast and detailed. Mentally, I was in a good place today, but if I was having a stressed day and was mentally drained, I could see becoming easily overwhelmed3. Bikram really adheres to the "Bikram" brand of yoga. It felt a little more rigid than typical yoga studios who will offer several modifications, or are perhaps a little looser with hand placement and body position. If you are a type of person who wants to learn "Bikram" this place will teach you that brand. If you're someone who is a bit more eclectic in your practice, you'll certainly be welcomed, but you might be questioned or recorrected back to the "Bikram" way. I'm more the latter than the former.4. Like with most yoga studios, this place has a few nickel and dime stuff -- most notably, they will charge you $2 to use their towels to shower. For the price of the class, ($15 for students) I figured this would be included, but it's not. However, these kinds of charges aren't uncommon within the Detroit Metro yoga studios.Overall, I probably will not make Bikram Midtown my yoga "home" per se, but I'd recommend it to friends who are a little more serious in their practice or are looking to "step up their yoga game". I also might drop in for a different class and a different instructor, just to see.To Bikram Yoga staff, instructors, and community -- ya'll were great! Thank you!

peter stenger: I love the space and vibe at the studio. Maura is a great instructor and very patient.😃I always feel a bit calmer and uplifted after a session.
Cassie Leger: This space is a total gem. If your heart is seeking beauty and belonging, give Samastah a try. Maura and Joseph are gifted teachers who craft their classes to meet the needs of the students who are present. Strongly recommend for postpartum healing. Oh and they sing to you too! Maura has a voice like a bell.
Dana Sladowski: I would give this studio 10 stars if I had the option, Maura & Joseph are absolutely wonderful to practice with & learn from! I started the yogic development & embodiment course about 3 months ago & have also been taking the yin & hatha classes, all of which have far exceeded my expectations! The amount of healing & growth I've had since I started here is amazing & I absolutely recommend practicing here!! ❣️✨
Mary Arnold: Very warm and welcoming space. An incredible space to practice, meet people in the community and learn from wonderful people.
Jerry Kitchen: This holy space is a miniature heaven. Joseph and Maura are Angels who hold us in their wings
Ethan Best: I never knew yoga until taking Yoga Teacher Training with Joseph. The depths of what Yoga is really about is an experience words can't fully describe. The energy in this studio, taking a class or being a student, is Spiritually fulfilling from so many different aspects. Maura's angelic voice sends healing and nurturing where I feel I can never get enough of her singing.Don't just take my review for it, go and experience it for yourself.
Danny Frank: One of the very best yoga studios I have ever been to. Every time I have practiced here, it has been a great workout, and a true mind exercise. Joseph has the gift! Really a wonderful leader. The studio is less of a modern work out yoga gym, and more of a traditional eastern/spiritual yoga (workout/mindfulness combo).
Paul Olof: Wonderful place
Terry Cole: Very welcoming studio for all levels and interest in yoga. Great energy and the teachers will make you want to return.
Zsanett Czifrus: Amazing space, loving energies, authentic teachers with great experience. Yoga that meant to be yoga in the ancient East arrived to MI!
Ibrahim Noppsy: As a big fat guy, I didn't know what to expect when I initially emailed Samastah Yoga about going to classes there. You don't really see a lot of big fat guys doing yoga and I always figured it wasn't really for people like me. I was really anxious about going but everyone there has been so nice and welcoming that I can't imagine not going now.
Jamie Weber: Generating good vibes.Joe and Maura have created a unique yoga haven. The environment at Samastah goes beyond just the asana practice to include sound, meditation and pranayama. Many classes are structured for all levels of experience and are very welcoming for beginners.
David Ranger: Knowledgeable instructors! The place has a great energy about it.
knowheretobe_: Absolutely the best yoga studio! Incredibly welcoming and healing environment. The staff are knowledgeable and inspiring individuals whose practice doesn't end at the studio.
Wil Jones: Absolutely beautiful experience with amazing people 📿
Nathan Erskine Smith: Beautiful space and beautiful people

Yoga Shelter Grosse Pointe: what do users think?
Tudi Harwood: This studio combines the best of several yoga practice experiences through in-person and virtual options. Both are terrific guided workouts in a community-supportive atmosphere. For over 10 years this studio and kept me healthy and sane! Highly recommend.
Gray Jessiman: The class flow was well thought out, safe and we worked many areas of the body. I liked her modified squat pose whereby the back maintained its natural curve. The music and over ambience was peaceful. Also, I was greeted both upon arrival and when I left. It was clean in the studio and the boutique had some clothes and jewelry that I will check out later. Hamstring work was done safely too. As a yoga teacher I was really pleased!
Jungho Kwon: I love Bold Flow. They have the most amazing and responsive staff. The only yoga studio I would choose!
Hayley Weiss: Amazing best of the best studio!!! Highly recommend Bold Flow!!!
Annette Aquino, DO RYT: Best yoga studio in the area by far! Teachers are all unique in their style and make each class a fresh calming yet invigorating opportunity! Beautiful space and staff is super friendly! Love it!
Christina V: The people and the teachers here are warm and experienced. I've practiced at a few different studios around town and I have to say that Bold Flow has quickly become my favorite, hands down. Clean, nice, easy...I'm so happy to have found you! Highly recommend!
ALANA WILDERN: There aren’t enough words to convey how incredible my experience with Bold Flow Yoga has been. The staff and teachers are consistently warm and inviting and this transcends to the lobby and studio as well. For a long time I was hesitant to try yoga again as my past experiences left me feeling like it was not a good fit for me. One of the owners, Katie, was incredibly empathetic to my hesitancy but encouraged me to try a class geared towards beginners. I appreciated her authenticity and didn’t feel like she was trying to sell me on anything or change my mind. Luckily, my mind has been completely changed bc of the people and the overall atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place enough. It has made a yoga naysayer into someone who actually enjoys practicing now. Whether you’re an amateur or a true yogi-this is a phenomenal studio and I am so happy I gave it another shot. Also they have the best clothes and accessories and I find it hard to leave without purchasing something.
Brandon Moore: Rude
Deviant Detectives: The lady with the stuff in her face is RUDE.
Evan Leibhan: Incredible studio. Fantastic teachers.
E Johnson: I visited a class last Sunday. The instructor Stephanie was awesome. She's so welcoming, kind, attentive and guided us well.
Dana Tautfest: I am an experienced Yogi and wanted to take a friend for her first time yoga experience. The guided flow with Paige as the instructor was the perfect first time experience. Page was fun supportive, kind and offered excellent instruction. The studio is new, beautiful and clean. A+ experience.
Victoria Birk Hill: I highly recommend Bold Flow Yoga. I've taught and practiced at lots of studios, but there is something different about this place. It's filled with beautiful energy. You feel acceptance, kindness and professionalism when you walk through the doors. And they have so many talented teachers. I learn something new every time I take class. It doesn't matter if you've been taking classes for years or if you are a beginner, this studio will make you feel welcome and guide you through what you need to know.
Lisa Frasier: Super teachers and studio space! Teachers give plenty of options to tailor the yoga flow to your capability.Like all the lulu merchandise!
Noelle Whorf: The sense of community here is like no other—the teachers are kind and accommodating, and the environment always feels very warm and intimate!!
Coco Aquino: Amazing teachers and studio! Always pushes me to my edge but also gently calms my nervous system with the power of being able to breath in a space where all you have to do is show up and be true to yourself…love this studio!
Amy Erlich: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualitySuch a great studio!! The owners and staff ensure you have a good experience here.
Susan Weisberg: I love the experience Yoga Shelter provides for all students on various stages of their yoga journeys. I love the warm and welcoming atmosphere and the amazing transformation that happens on the mat.
stephanie selvaggio: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityYoga Shelter has been my home since 2007. I'm so grateful this wonderful establishment is a part of our community. I get a ton out of each yoga practice. I feel better at life after I go :)
Perry Durham: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityBeautiful space great staff and teachers
Patrick Linsdau: Critical:ProfessionalismWife went there and enjoyed time there. Restrictions changed availability so membership was canceled now six months ago. They have had to refund my card 3 times because they have kept charging my card although they said they wouldn't. They have now charged my card again. DON'T GIVE THIS PLACE YOU CARD!!!

Sattva Yoga Center: what do users think?
Rachel's Music Garden: I love this yoga studio! Chuck is an incredible instructor that works with you at your level and inspires you to do more. Everyone is very supportive, friendly, and non judgmental.I always feel stronger and more relaxed after a session.
Susan Maher: Sattva Yoga is a great place to practice yoga. Beautiful surroundings and Chuck is the BEST!
Michelle May: I actually attend Sattva for massage, and my therapist is amazing!
Nick Meyer: I have been to many studios in my 9-plus years of practicing. Chuck and Sattva Yoga are definitely in my top 2. The thing I like about this place is how welcoming it is, also the practice was all about getting into a great rhythm and flow by practicing and re-practicing the fundamentals (when I last went in 2013 anyway). Overall I love this place, it was life changing for me and an authentic yoga experience. I am planning to go back soon for a drop-in class or two because of how unique and awesome this place is!
Ranya: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI attended an all levels session as a beginner and the intensity was perfect. This was my first time doing yoga and chuck the instructor was very kind which made it a great first experience. The studio was very clean and I enjoyed the breath work. I will be back for more sessions soon, thank you chuck!
Maha Anani: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityVery professional and ambient. If you are looking for true yoga at its purest, this is the place for you. The instructor is absolutely one of the best in this business. A must try.
Lamees Mekkaoui: I signed up for a one month unlimited membership at Sattva Yoga and as soon as it is over I am getting the six month unlimited membership (longest commitment option). Let me tell you why.1) Every class is consistent. There are no hit or miss instructors which means that I never have to plan my schedule around who is teaching. Chuck has taught every course for the past year and he is excellent. He spends a lot of time in class helping adjust students or pushing you to try a slightly more challenging variation of a position. I appreciate this type of individualized instruction and you will not find it everywhere.2) It is authentic no fuss yoga. Sattva didn't stay afloat this year by selling crystals and incense. Yoga is the staple of this studio. You won't hear random nature music but instead, audio to help you guide your breath. That means that you are more focused on your practice and your mind isn't drifting thinking about everything you have to get done.3) There are classes to suit every level but I love how challenging they are. I have fun even when in very difficult positions because I am pushing myself. I don't have a fitbit or apple watch but my brother wore one to a class and burned 550+ calories.4) The atmosphere is very non-judgmental. You can alter any pose to suit your practice. No one will judge you if you have to sit a few poses out or if you fall over. Honestly no one even looks at you. People of all ages, sizes, genders, and body types come here.5) The studio is beautiful and large, the parking is free, and it is in the heart of downtown Dearborn.
K T: I cannot say enough positive things about Satva Yoga Center! I first started coming here over 10 years ago and I will never go anywhere else! The owner Chuck is so kind and knowledgeable, he has created such a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend!
Brian Goodwin: Great yoga experience -- whether you're experienced or a beginner. Instructors are helpful and friendly. The studio is clean, but cozy. And during the pandemic, classes have gone outside. If you go once, you'll be hooked!!
Sonia Mackie: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualitySattva Yoga has always been a haven of serenity where all your stress leaves you as you practice. The focus on breathing really makes a difference and each practice leaves you relaxed yet refreshed.
Scott Belknap III: Good feeling as You walk in! I use the very qualified massage tech that uses this facility!! Her Name is Patti Zwers! Call to make Your Appointment! You will be very satisfied!! S.

Maureen Stanton: After trying some other yoga classes in the area, I keep coming back to Sattva. The owner, Chuck, and other instructors are really, really good at what they do. It’s a wonderful, clean space with convenient parking, space to change, extra hair ties, all the things.
Anirudh Rajasekaran: Good instructors combined with great ambience makes for a peaceful yoga session
Monica Marie Jones: I've visited many yoga studios, but this one is THE best, hands down. The environment is always clean and quite, providing the perfect peaceful atmosphere for your practice. The yoga practiced here is breath based, so there are no distractions such as music. The beginning and end of class make for perfect opportunities to meditate.
Candace Papineau: I have been going to Sattva for a few months and had very little experience when I started (aside from occasional yoga videos). The whole atmosphere of the studio is calming from the moment you walk in. The instructors are the most caring and gentle people. I am so relaxed at the end of classes that I am fighting falling asleep! I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking to start yoga for health and to relieve stress.
Kristy Reardon: Beautiful studio, great instructor!!!
J Bell: I work at OXI FRESH carpet cleaning and I love this yoga spot nice friendly and relaxing am the Oxi Fresh owner thanks for the experience.
Neha Ashok: Sattva Yoga is excellent and has exceeded every expectation I had of a Yoga center. The facility is extremely clean and well maintained. The instructors are very knowledgeable, patient and attentive. I'm very glad I finally decided to start practicing Yoga and picked Sattva Yoga Center.
Gaby Fernandez: Amazing instructors!! It's what yoga is really about!
Stefani Jakubowski: Sattva yoga center is the best studio in metro Detroit! I have been practicing here for about a year. If you have been practicing for years or new to yoga, this studio welcomes everyone and the instructors will help you tailor the classes to your personal journey. Chuck (owner and instructor) takes the time to get to know you and help you tailor your practice based on your personal needs and limitations. Getting personal attention and guidance has helped me understand what a posture should look like and what I should be feeling while in the posture. I've grown an enormous amount coming to this studio. The focus on the breath during class has helped my stress levels and calmed me during my practice and throughout the rest of my day. I've always been athletic, but never been flexible and each day I practice I feel and see noticeable results in my flexibility and strength! If you have questions or want pointers here, ask! They try not to be invasive, but they are always happy to help and spend the time ensuring you are getting the most out of your practice.

Namaste Yoga Center: what do users think?
YogiStoned: I'm a teacher at Namaste but I'm also a student. I began practicing at Namaste over 12 years ago and consider it my yoga home. I felt drawn to the studio for the building's historic charm and big, oversized windows. I returned for the array of kind and generous teachers and staff, all as welcoming as the next. I remember wanting to study yoga but didn't know where to start or felt like I didn't belong at certain studios. When you come in, you'll just know it's right.
Rachele Rose: Namaste is an authentic, community-centered, and inclusive yoga studio. They intentionally honor the lineage of yoga and focus on all 8 limbs of yoga, not just the asana/physical practice. Each teacher brings their own unique experience and energy to the space, creating a variety of heart-centered and engaging classes for all levels. Thank you, Namaste!
Brandi Rolader: I want to leave the best review possible because I only went to this place once and although it wasn’t for me, it might be what other people want.I’m very stoic so I’m not really into the whole spiritual aspect of yoga, I’m just there for the fitness and health benefits. This place was very “hippie dippie” for lack of a better description. Which I probably should’ve read between the lines given they’re in downtown Royal Oak and the name of it is “Namaste” but oh well lesson learned. Quoting Buddhist poetry and being surrounded by people searching for their inner peace is just not for me. Also the other reviews are correct that it is very overcrowded. They only have one room so it felt like whoever showed up they just squeezed in where they could instead of turning people away when a maximum capacity is reached.I do wanna say that the actual yoga instruction was very good and the instructor was knowledgeable. She walked around the room and would quietly try to correct or help anyone she could. The routine went with what you expected for “better backs” or whatever you sign up for. I felt great after, the environment was just weird and not for me.
Andrea Hicks: I Absolutely Love this Yoga Studio!!! It is an inviting warm studio that you feel at home in :)
Thomas Drowns: The instructors are good but unfortunately I believe the objective of the studio is to pack as many people into the space as is possible. As a tall person I mentioned that there wasn't enough space for my practice. The response I received was to be ignored.
Lisa G: Peaceful environment.Effective classes.Amazing instructors.Love everything about this place.
Tabitha Bowen Mensch: Clean, conveniently located facility. Fairly wide variety of classes. Great teachers. User friendly website with accurate/updated schedule. Reasonably priced and often special promotions.
Sharon Kirsch: Namaste Yoga is the perfect yoga environment for an yoga studio. It offers everything you need plus more. There is an yoga class to meet anyones needs! Once you attend a class then you are definitely going to come back for more Namaste classes.
mark baum: Great experiences always over the years. Great variety of classes and plenty of accessories for support and comfoft. Well trained and professional staff!
Deb Olszewski: Great space, good teachers!
Tiesha Becker: I reviewed Namaste Yoga on Yoga Alliance and the ratings were extremely low. I don't know how or why, maybe I overlooked a question, but I wanted to clear any misunderstandings that may surface from my review. My teacher training experience was great! I had the opportunity to meet some amazing women and an amazing man. I developed relationships through this program that will last a lifetime. Linda opened her heart, mind, and spirit to all of us that took Shala. She made sure to cover all of the objectives that we would need to be great instructors. Linda and I have a good relationship, which is why I felt the need to write this review after seeing the 2 out of 5 stars on Yoga Alliance.Linda Makowski, please charge that rating to my head not my heart! I sincerely don't know what happened.

Karma Yoga: what do users think?
Janet Pasco: The team and class were extremely warmand welcoming! I loved the teacher’s approach. Lynn was so helpful! I will definitely be back! Thanks
Nicholas Nahat: If you're part of the 'in' group here this is a good place for yoga. Two and a half star half and half review would be most appropriate to reflect the two faces of the studio, but google only permits whole stars. On the one hand, many of the teachers are quite good and knowledgeable, and since this is where most of us will connect that tips the balance to three stars.Don't venture beyond this surface though, because since the owner moved away and relies on representatives the integrity of the place has essentially shifted. Love and light has given way to a more mercenary perspective--the absentee owner can't be bothered with any personal contact and appears to be severing her relationship with what made this studio special.Hopefully at some point in the future the space will regain its original nourishing inclusive wholeness.Without integrity, one is only left with a money-making proposition.
Shelly OHaas: I have only taken part in meditation so far at Karma and highly recommend it for centering. The staff is welcoming and practice condusive to many faiths. Looking forward to returning for yoga and Pilates. Namaste
Deborah Siebert: Great pace and wonderful stretching!
Linda Marinovich: Beautiful, nurturing, supportive yoga studio! Excellent, high caliber, vibrant, passionate teachers🧘‍♂️🌟I highly recommend!
Susan Potoczak: I hadn’t been back to Karma Yoga in several months and was a little nervous if I remembered the poses. Marianne is an awesome yoga teacher. Her cues are very helpfull and she is patient. My experience was very enjoyable and I will be back.

David Soble: nice people and really good classes
Noreen Hamill: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Looking forward participating in Karma Yoga’s classes and events.
Natalie Piet: Karma Yoga is a gem in Bloomfield Hills. The support to go inward is steady and consistent. There are many different class offerings and there is a place for everybody.
Kate Cahill: The gong immersion was magical. Thank you for such a beautiful experience!
Denise Liberty: Peace, serenity and joy is just one breath away!
Ken A: I've been going here 13 years!

Kathleen Dib: So grateful to not only be on the staff but a student as well - we all learn from each other!!Karma has always held the studio to the highest level of service & has been a staple in our community for 15 years. It's an amazing journey we're on ♡♡
Lisa Fein: Such a warm, welcoming environment. The teachers are all very experienced and give great cues. It’s my favorite place to take a yoga class and I always tell others about it.
J True: An amazing community of Yogi's!
Karen Danto: Such a sacred place... I feel so lucky to have karma nearby.

Center For Iyengar Yoga: what do users think?
Kristine S: Very cool.
Hannah Grimm: Chris is professional personable. He address students individual needs in their practice. I started his online classes during lockdown, which was very helpful. It’s been such a treat to finally practice in person now. The energy and the traditional practice that he offers is incomparable. I highly recommend anyone who is new or experienced in their yoga practice.
Joe Luther: When I first came to Chris I was a 58 year old man who previously had multiple sports injuries and lower back surgery. I had tried yoga a few times before over the years at other local yoga studios. Each time I left disappointed feeling like the helpless beginner that I was. Despite these unfulfilling attempts I knew that yoga could be good for me if I could just find the instructor/studio who could help me get started and give me the confidence to continue forward. I am so grateful to the friend who referred me to Chris. His kind and compassionate attention to his students combined with his teaching the more traditional method of Iyengar yoga makes him the ideal instructor for novices like me. As we age we too often lament about activities that we can no longer do, with Chris the opposite has been true for me. In the past 2.5 years Chris has taught me how to use and understand my body in ways that I never would have imagined. If you have always wanted to learn and practice yoga but haven't because you believe that you're too old, too brittle, too injured, too inexperienced, or all of these things -- PLEASE give Chris and the Center For Iyengar Yoga a try.
Amit Rajmane: You know how big names tweet @real and then their name, maybe we should start adding @realyoga to differentiate the real from all the junk yoga that’s offered today. I can’t say what real yoga is because I am a beginner but I can tell you that I spoke to people back home (India) who have done yoga for decades and they have recommended Iyengar yoga. You get certified teachers at Iyengar yoga, and I can’t agree more with the other reviews that I read about Chris, he’s a great teacher. All I can say is give it a try and see for yourself.
Erica Treais-Holm: Chris is an extraordinary yoga instructor! I've studied at a few different Iyengar studios throughout the USA & Canada and Chris has been the most personable and effective in advancing my understandings of my body, breath and postures. I came to CFIY with a few injuries and Chris always had an option or idea to help me better the postures for my particular body. This place is an absolute must if you're curious about progressing your practice or looking to start a yoga practice!
Tyler Nissen: Chris is a great teacher and has been very helpful in my adjustment to learning the practice of yoga. I really enjoy the more intimate experience this studio provides. Would recommend to anyone!
Asaf Degani: I live abroad, but frequent Detroit. Every time we are in the area, a bunch of us (we work for a large corporation), attend Chris' classes. He is a wonderful teacher, very sensitive to his students, and able to adapt the Iyengar tradition and style to his student's needs and injuries. The new studio on 1204 E. Eleven is spacious and charming and the classes are small and focused.
Jon Levin: I've been practicing yoga for many years....at least I thought I did until I started practicing with Chris. He has a very effective way of expressing himself in the vocabulary of physical structure as well as being able to discuss the philosophical underpinnings of the science. The studio is kept very clean and comfortable.
Gregory Stack: After doing yoga at other studios for years, I’ve never experienced such a great and knowledgeable yoga instructor as Chris Briney and Iyengar Yoga. Iyengar Yoga was completely new to me and now it’s the only Yoga I practice. The Center for Iyengar Yoga is a beautiful space where you can feel at home and truly learn a practice of yoga, where you tune in to your body physically and spiritually. I highly recommend Center for Iyengar Yoga for anyone at any age or level to experience what yoga is really all about.
Marcie Wicker: I was introduced to Chris by a friend. This yoga was completely new to me. Not only did I physically feel invigorated afterwards, but mentally regenerated. His knowledge of yoga and way of life is inspirational. I highly recommend The Center for Iyengar Yoga.
Marla Horwitz: After years of searching for yoga that worked for my body, I found Christopher Briney, a Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher. Iyengar teachers go through years of rigorous training and education to become certified. Chris is a dedicated yogi who's mission in life is to teach the community and the world, how to live a balanced life. And, the bonus is that I no longer have pain in my body, all due to this practice. I've been studying with Chris for over 5 years.
Yael Shmueli-Friedland: I visited Chris’s Iyengar studio during a business trip in MI. This was one of the best classes that I’ve ever experienced. Chris’s eye for detailed really impressed me. He is truly knowledgeable and can immediately apply this knowledge to achieve an impressive impact on one’s posture and position, in my case the class was able to alleviate and open my stiff neck (a result of a whiplash that I suffer from for many year). Thank you Chris, hope to see you in my next business trip to Michigan.
Michelle Akler: I cannot say enough great things about Living Tradition Yoga. I first visited 5 years ago, a yoga skeptic thinking it may help my hip bursitis. Well, not only is my bursitis cured, but my life has literally been transformed by attending the outstanding yoga classes led by certified junior intermediate Iyengar instructor Chris Briney. He is so knowledgeable, personable, and accessible to all levels of student. Even if you believe yoga is not for you, I encourage you to give this studio a try. Chris is the best!
Mary Kay Buckley: I continue to be amazed at Chris Briney's expertise as a yoga teacher. He gives the kind of individual instruction that you can not get anywhere. He is great with those just beginning and those who never thought they could do yoga at all, older and younger students. He also keeps his students moving to the next level in their practice. He is challenging and yet he always makes each person's practice doable. He is truly excellent.
Shawn Cadieux: Chris is the real deal! You can find many Yoga instructors, but very few like Chris. He is able to help you no matter where you are in your practice, I highly recommend you stop in and give Chris and the Living Traditions Studio a try.
Clayton Winkler: Chris Briney is an amazing instructor. He is passionate and applies his skills and talents towards those who look for both physical and mental improvements. I would highly recommend Chris and would encourage others to experience his sessions.
Christopher Sarsfield: Chris at Living Traditions goes above and beyond for his students. He was great in correcting my beginners form and helping heal issues I've had with hip and low back pain. He's been a tremendous help in the areas of nutrition, mental focus, and stress relief, as well. I've recommended him as an executive health coach as well as yoga instructor. He's the whole package.
