Sheida M: I love this store and have brought many friends here already. The prices are high, but if you don't plan to buy anything you can just walk around, enjoy the designs and see how things are made. They have chairs and serve very good coffee so if you would like to sit there and sketch or write, you will be feeling comfortable in this place.
Samantha Barsotti: I went in to have my watch battery changed. Several days went by and they still don't have my watch finished. I called a few times and they kept telling me to call back. I finally contacted customer service and they told me there was an issue with my watch and it was sent to the factory and now I won't have it for another 14 plus days. I was also told by a shinola employee to look on amazon for a watch band since they don't carry my size band anymore. A pretty disappointing in store experience. Especially to spend a large amount of money on a specialty watch just to be told to shop for an 11$ band on amazon because they don't make the size band I need anymore.

We purchased an attractive watch for "her" and a slim RFID security wallet for "him" with designs that we both like.May 2022 update: the Birdy watch stopped keeping accurate time 10 months after we bought it. I thought it was a battery issue, but the rep in the store stated there are multiple issues with the movement. The local store had to send the watch to the factory for an assessment using analysis tools they did not have in-store at Canfield. I will give a few stars for the watch design and customer service experience so far, but I just cannot recommend a watch that stopped working in less than one year. I do believe they will make this right, but this is our first Shinola purchase, and it does not give me confidence in the Shinola brand. While we were in the store looking at new products, we loved the gorgeous design of the Diamond Petoskey Book watch. We seriously considered buying it, but I can't imagine shelling out $2,900 if I have low confidence in the operational quality.October 2022 update: After another 5 months, the watch stopped keeping accurate time AGAIN. Same issue as before, so they sent it to the factory for repair. The only good thing I can say is that they stand behind their products with warranty repairs, but the quality is just not there. Will not buy another Shinola product, and I'm tired of driving from the suburbs to the Canfield location for repair. Dropping another star for my review.

It would be an item you can use most of your life and will to someone, but how many can the average working person really afford. Maybe that is why you don't see a large crowd in any of their stores.

Michael Zimmermann: I was on a business trip for my first time in Detroit. Several people recommended we check out this store. We set an appointment and had the pleasure of working with Gabrielle. Three of us went in and came out with four watches. She helped us find what we we liked and try on different bands. She was very helpful in finding a watch to bring back for my wife as a gift. Love the story behind the brand as well.
Bob Bobb: I bought 3 watches in 2 trips to the Canfield store. One $850, another $1,000 and a third as a gift for $1,500. The middle one is the one I wear, and it has a couple small issues. The start/stop button for the stopwatch feature stays stuck down, so you can't use the stopwatch, and also the crown is often found to have come out one notch, which stops the watch from running, so you can't rely on it to tell time.I went into the Canfield store where I bought them to have it serviced in Feb of '22, and they couldn't help me. It took 10 min to talk to any of the 3 people in the service area (one who was working on watches, the other 2 just standing at the counter). Keep in mind, I was one of 2 customers in the entire store, and there were 6 employees in total.Finally after 10-12 minutes I was told it probably had to go to the factory. I said "Fine, let's do that". But the young man was confused, and didn't think they could take in a watch for service. He finally suggested I drive all thee way down to the Shinola Hotel, and they could probably take it in for service there. I didn't have that kind of time.6 employees for 2 customers and they can't even take in a watch for service?

This store is one of several highend stores on Woodward.It's right next to the future Apple Store, the Greyson Clothier, around the corner from Gucci Detroit, Lulu Lemon, and H&M.Detroit is increasingly a great destination for shopping.
Baz: Watches are cheaply made. I have worn my watch 4/5 times only to have the crown just fall off what a joke. Wouldn’t recommend to spend any money with this company.

Trent McRitchie: Firstly: I LOVE SHINOLA PRODUCTS!! USA MADE AND LIFETIME WARRANTY!! Christian, the gentleman that helped me with my 3 watch service order & metal bracelet issue was EXCELLENT. He was very patient, made sure to keep everything in order and I received emails confirming everything he did. They were able to replace a watch battery for me with my appointment and also sent the other 2 & the bracelet into the the factory for case polishing and new batteries. The bracelet was REPLACED and I am very thankful. I really love this brand and their ability to stand behind their products 100%. The staff at both the Canfield and Woodward store have been amazing to me. My wife has 2 Shinola watches and she loves them very much. One of my watches will be back tomorrow and I appreciate the quick turnaround!! Case polishing is a great way to refresh a worn watch and adding a new band or bracelet is great to. It is reassuring to buy something you can have forever!!! THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO SHINOLA!!! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU :) We wish you more and more success with your company and can't wait to stay at the Shinola Hotel sometime :)

Once we got past that, we asked a store employee for directions through the store. Two had no idea about the layout. Once we got where we were going, the folks there obviously hated their job. They were more than just rude. Probably because this particular person was upset that we had to take her away from her screen. Also very over priced. We went to another store and found the exact same brands for less.

Dave Glenn: Absolutely 5 stars. In a world of deteriorating customer service, Shinola stands head and shoulders above the rest. The assistant manager, Pat, restored my faith in retail leadership. Jeffrey was very helpful as well.Five stars, and I’ll be back again and again. if you usually buy your watches in the iconic Detroit Store, the Somerset collection really does it well. Do yourself a favor. Stop by and talk to Pat. Tell him Dave sent you.

Shinola at Somerset is a horrible representation of the Shinola brand. All I wanted was a new battery put in my watch. A sales person said they could do that for me. They took me to a computer and wanted to create an account for me before I could get a battery! Why? I was told because they could notify me about when my watch would be ready. I said it’s just a battery and you’re doing it right now, so why do you need my name, address, phone, email? Change the battery, I’ll pay for it and leave. Two other sales people had to come over and get involved in my refusal to turn over personal information. Then, one of the new people to the conversation said “how will we contact you when it’s ready?” I’ll be standing right here! Nope. Now they won’t do it until tomorrow. Wow! What a crock! I won’t give them a way to send me spam emails and texts so they won’t put a battery in my watch. Makes me wonder why I bought two Shinolas? I would expect good service considering how much I overpaid for my two assembled in Detroit watches. Not at Shinola Somerset. Unhelpful staff working there.

Lewis Soldatek: When I bought my Shinola watch in 2017, I was told the first watch replacement battery was on them. Here it is 2021- my battery died a couple years ago and I wasn't able to get to a Shinola dealer to have it replaced because of stupid Covid. The people at the store tell me that that policy of a free battery replacement ended in 2019, I get that - that's not a problem, but you can't tell somebody that bought something earlier that because you don't do that replacement policy anymore that they now have to pay for their first battery. You honor that commitment up to the point of when you ended that policy which would be according to their employees was 2019, so eventually it will catch up to their sales. None of the workers in the store seem to understand that, but after having explain it to them they agreed to waive the fee for replacing my battery this time and this time only. I get that, I don't have a problem going back there and having to pay for a second, third, fourth or 5th battery replacement, I understood that the day that I bought the watch years ago. It's not the cost of $25 that is irritating, $25 is really nothing, it's the principal of your agreement at the time that you buy something that should be honored.So I commend and appreciate the sales people at the store for making the correct decision and making this customer happy and rest assured that next time I need a watch I will buy another Shinola! Thank you
Margaret Abercrombie: I fell in love with a Shinola watch back in September, and my husband decided to gift it to me for Christmas. Unfortunately, by the time that December rolled around the watch was sold out both online and in (most) Shinola stores. The folks at the Somerset location were able to find the watch I wanted in another Shinola store in Pennsylvania. We bought the watch on Saturday 12/18, and it arrived from Pennsylvania on the following Tuesday- just in time for Christmas! I wish I could remember all of the names of the guys who helped us because they made the experience amazing! I will definitely return for more purchases in the future!
