Michigan Actors Studio: what do users think?
Travis Robinson: I recently took Improv for Everyone in the Winter and the Spring. The class was a fantastic experience. I can't recommend people to take this class enough. What allowed for the class to be so amazing was the teacher. To anyone reading this if you see Improv for Everyone available and Andi Maziarz is the teacher sign up immediately!Andi created an environment that was so much fun, allowed for growth, brought forth challenge, encouraged creativity, and allowed an escape from reality in a way that was so nurturing and inspiring. Andi’s positivity is infectious and makes you feel so comfortable even though you’re in a vulnerable situation. She masterfully helped a group of strangers come out of their shells and feel like a family by the time the class was over. She truly created a judgement free zone that allows students to thrive. Her encouragement to just “go for it” and to be in the moment was very guiding and inspiring. She encourages you to ask questions and is eager to answer any and every question that you have to help you along the way. You can tell by her passion and in the way that she teaches that she truly cares about each of her students and does everything she can to accommodate them, help them grow, and succeed. I can't say enough good things about her because as a teacher and a person she is an absolute gem.Even if Andi isn’t the one teaching the class I still can’t recommend Improv for Everyone to EVERYONE enough! It is a great way to get out of your comfort zone, learn about yourself, meet people you otherwise might not have encountered, escape reality, HAVE FUN, and learn skills that you can apply to so many different aspects of your life. All of the games and exercises were fun and helped to build communication and team work. Some were more challenging than others(in a good way!) but they force you to be present and use your creativity. If you are on the fence about taking this class, JUST DO IT! You will be thankful that you did after. :)
Antais Harvey: Acting classes at Michigan Actors Studio were amazing. I have learned so much about myself during these classes. Kate, the acting teacher, made me feel so safe. I was able to open up, be myself and be vulnerable! I felt heard in this class and that felt sooooooo good! I would recommend this studio to any and everybody! I learned, I had fun, met new friends, and grew as a person and actor! When I get on the big screen, Kate will definitely be getting a shoutout and tickets to the premiere ❤️
Dan Ziegler: A Life-Changing Experience at Michigan Actors Studio!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 StarsI am beyond thrilled to share my incredible experience at the Michigan Actors Studio, where I recently completed the Voiceover 1 class and participated in a fantastic workshop about talent agents. This establishment has truly exceeded all my expectations!First and foremost, the instructors and staff at the Michigan Actors Studio are nothing short of amazing. Their passion, dedication, and wealth of knowledge in their respective fields create a nurturing and supportive environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive. The team is genuinely invested in every individual's success, making sure each one of us feels valued, heard, and encouraged to reach our full potential. The curriculum at Michigan Actors Studio covers a comprehensive range of topics and skills, from acting and voiceover to writing and improv. Additionally, they also delve into the business aspects of the arts, ensuring that students are well-equipped to navigate the industry with confidence. Their holistic approach is truly invaluable, as it not only nurtures artistic talent but also fosters a deeper understanding of the industry. What I appreciate most about this incredible institution is the safe and welcoming atmosphere they've created. Students from all walks of life, with varying levels of experience, can come together to learn, collaborate, and grow in a judgment-free space. This kind of environment is crucial in helping students push their boundaries and discover their true potential.I cannot recommend Michigan Actors Studio highly enough! If you're considering pursuing a career in the performing arts, or simply looking to develop your skills and knowledge, this is the place to be. Don't hesitate – seize this opportunity to learn from the best in the business and embark on an unforgettable journey of self-discovery and artistic growth!Dan ZieglerClarkston, Michigan
Rita Campbell: Looking forward to seeing your courses.
Kate McClaine: ❤️❤️❤️
Ebony Johnson: My son participated in a summer session prior to the pandemic and he absolutely love it! He did so well within the performanc. We can't wait to get him back in the program.
Brittany Hottmann: HOW have I not reviewed this place yet?!?! Michigan Actors Studio is one of my favorite places of all time and has been for over five years now. I graduated with my certificate of acting 3 years ago and the staff, fellow students, and courses all helped me build the momentum I needed to move to New York City where I've been on the path I've wanted to be in acting. When moving here, I didn't know if I'd ever get the opportunity to take a class at MAS again. Then came along 2020 and VIRTUAL CLASSES!!! I can now be at my Michigan safehaven while sitting in my Brooklyn apartment because of their new webcam Zoom classes, and that is the best thing that has come out of this year yet! No matter where you live, this could end up being the perfect fit for you!I have only taken Acting III through online so far, but look forward to signing up for another course soon. It's actually wild how well the virtual setup works when doing an entire course. When I did this class in person, it felt more like a theater class, but through Zoom it has more of a film class vibe, which I love. I think both platforms offer opportunities for the actor to learn different skills. The sense of community in my online class is so warm & inviting that it feels like we're all actually together in person, and it's given me safety in an otherwise rocky year. I am beyond thankful to know that even when things go back to "normal," the studio will continue to offer these courses online, so I'll always know, even in the wild uncertainty of New York City, I'll still have one of my favorite places back home to lean on, even miles away. Oh, and the prices are inexpensive in consideration to the level of personal growth you'll find as an actor at ANY STAGE of their career (or hobby).P.S. All instructors I've come across are amazing, but I highly recommend taking Daba (Wayne David Parker) for voiceover or film, OR Kate FOR ANYTHING, if they're available. :) Break a leg!
Cherry (Shawol): The voice acting classes at Michigan Actors Studio are fun engaging interactive and contain valuable knowledge. I was stuck in a rut with my voice over performances. By the end of the second week of Voice Over I class I with Daba, I was able to identify a bad habit that was likely ruining my auditions. My auditions now are not magically perfect but after comparing what I sounded like before I started taking the classes vs what I sound like now, it's a lot of improvement! In each class including Voice over II and now the current Voice Over III offer new challenges and learning experiences through the variations of practice scripts. And the instructor feedback is invaluable. I don't want to make this review too long but if you want to get into voice acting (do your due diligence of research first), or, you are already in the industry and want to improve your skills, take the Voice Over classes at Michigan Actors Studio.
Paul Popa: Taken two virtual acting classes with Michigan Actors Studio so far and could not recommend them highly enough! Emilio and Kate are phenomenal teachers and I have grown so much as an actor from Acting I and II alone. Whether you're new to this business or experienced, a class from Michigan Actors Studio will help you understand the what the fundamental processes of acting are, and the feedback is top-notch!
Monica H.: I am signed up for my third Voice Over class via Zoom during these trying Covid times. Zoom works very well for this particular class and I enjoy having time to do my weekly recordings/assignments at home for the next week’s class. Your iPhone will work for that! The instructor is very experienced and gives excellent feedback on the spot. I miss Michigan Actors Studio, but love having a way to keep connected and keep learning!
Erin Ellis: Over the past two years my mom has pushed and pushed for me to take a voice over class due to my knack of character voices. I've done radio dramas before, but never truly had proper training. Since Covid, getting laid off, and all other outlets stripped, I bit the bullet and signed up for VO1.It was great having it be in the comfort of my own home as the class was virtual, and I could record on my own time. This class was interesting, starting off with simple comercials, but a challenge for me as I'm used to using character voices, and not just my regular tones. The class was super supportive, and Daba the instructor was helpful with tips on what to do better, and raves about what we did great. I had such a great time that I signed up for VO2, which was what I was looking forward to--Audibooks.VO2 was even better, with longer and challening scripts, I felt that I was able to truly grow as a voice over actor, but sad that they didnt have VO3. Until they shared the news!By popular demand, VO3 is now available, where we're going to be working on character voices, accents and dialects, and more audiobook scripts (I've been leaping for joy since I got the notification as this is what I was hoping to really learn and expand on since I've started). If you've thougut about exploring a new aspect of yourself, or learning a new skill, or even wanting to try something fun and different--Michigan Actors Studio is the place to go. Daba is the best teacher with professional experience, and is phenominal regarding support, advice, and takes time out of his day to listen to anything you'll send him. The Voice Over classes are a place where you can be yourself, for yourself, and with other people that are like yourself. Try it! You won't regret it.
Alayna Johnson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI’ve always wanted to take an Acting Class & I’m so glad I took it here. Because of the Pandemic the class was Virtual, but they still did a great job. It was insightful, professional, and inspiring. Instructor Emilio is great! Definitely will be coming back for Acting 2!
Jenny Scuccimarri: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI’ve been taking class at MAS for almost a year and I’ve loved every second of it. Even when we had to move to virtual classes in March, they found a way to continue to offer engaging and informative classes. I highly recommend MAS, especially for beginners who are just starting out.
Forest Hudson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueGreat classes, and they are so enjoyable!!!
Gabriela Iriarte: All of the classes I have taken here, both in person and online, have been fantastic. The instructors are very knowledgeable about the craft and their passion is evident in the way that they teach. The environment is supportive and inspiring. I would highly recommend Michigan Actors Studio to anyone who wants to pursue an acting career, improve their communication skills, join a friendly community, or simply try something new.
Robin Spiller: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI took a virtual Acting I class and it was great! The instructor was really nice and professional. The class size was small and intimate and everyone was so inviting. I look forward to taking Acting II with them!
Dillon Sickels: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueA friend told me about a voice over class with Michigan Actors Studio. We both signed up, and now I’m taking the second VO class and looking to record my demo afterwards. It’s been an amazing opportunity and the classes have been both fun and informative.
Mary Magyari: I have done both VO1 and VO2 (virtually), and I did auditioning for film In person last year. I think Michigan Actors Studio has great instructors. I feel confident I am learning the skills I need to further my acting career. Personally I have worked with Daba and he is so down to earth, he makes sure the class is fun, and all your questions get answered while being straight forward with his critiques. I can’t wait to sign up for more classes!
V P: Can't wait to see more comedy shows!
Analicia Hazelby: Awesome! I went there for their spring open house and was happy to find helpful instructors to tell us about their classes. I hope to take a course soon!
Jason Gibson: ComedySportz, acting classes and more. What's not to live about this place.Be sure to check out the student shows... Who knows you may just see the next big star's first show!

TeknoBoom555: Right environment makes it a lot easier to succeed in anything. AGREE?The instructors here are individuals dedicated to the profession, who are sincerely interested in helping you achieve your goals. The people in the studio (attendees, actors) are friendly, accepting and supportive individuals. The environment is friendly, safe from criticism and comfortable and I could see it from the beginning. This specific studio is a great place for those who just want to try acting, experienced actors who want to improve their skills, or for those interested in personal development....I mean, to stop worrying in social environments, improve public speaking skills, stop being self-critical.Of course, it takes time and efforts to see results, but rewards do equal to efforts you put in. The studio offers experienced and knowledgeable instructors with individual approach, and a cultivating and encouraging environment for growth. It's been 2 years since I joined the studio, and I love it. If my review sounds interesting to you, I strongly recommend to contact studio to learn more and to sign up for upcoming classes.

Fatoumata Cissoko-Willis: Detroit Repertory Theatre is one of the hidden gems of Detroit. The last two plays I saw were both fantastic - "Transfer" and "Sweat". I will continue to always be a supporter!!!

Leslie Benson: My family does a fundraising event at the Detroit Repertory Theatre every year. The plays are always cast with local actors and actresses. The themes of the plays vary, but most have involved societal issues pertaining to justice and perception. We're always left feeling gracious at having had the experience. Furthermore, the staff working the events are always very pleasant. They've recently added some delicious entrees to their menu (bbq chicken sliders and seafood mac n cheese); not to overshadow the fully stocked bar. All in all, you can enjoy dinner, have a refreshing cocktail, and experience a memorable live play. I'd like to add:Rest in Peace to Bruce Millan, one of the founders of The Detroit Repertory Theatre. He's left behind such a rich legacy, and Im sincerely grateful for the gem that is the Detroit Repertory Theatre. One suggestion: a little meet and greet with the actors and actresses of the play after its conclusion.
Duane B: Great venue full of wonderful plays.
mil patrick: Enjoyed this afternoons performance. The theatre is a jewel of the city. Gem Of The Ocean.
Linda Caldwell: Great

Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts: what do users think?
Scott S.: Amazing showSpinners and Stylistics
Scott Spellman: Intimate 500 seat concert venue with stellar sound. A wide variety of world music and cultural performances.
Chelly Pooh: Absolutely enjoyed the performance, but aesthetically they need help They need to resubmit ceilings paint ceilings clean chairs if you just happen to get stuck up at the top of the balcony it is the worst You would think the ceiling is going to fall on you
Joe Tyrrell: Wonderful historic small theater in the heart of the entertainment district. Dixie Longate was hilarious.
Mark Erichson: Nice, comfortable, mid-sized theater. Classic old architecture and decor. Tiny lobby, with Aretha's - a very nice little cocktail lounge - off it.
Daniel Church: Great venue for live music!
Jonathan S: In town for a week from London and were lucky enough to see the Stylistics and Spinners at the Music Hall. Great concert at fantastic venue - like stepping back in time to the music and venue's heyday. Met lots of really friendly locals too which made it a special night.
Lanee Hatten: So nice
Todd Bostwick: As Detroit continue it's ascendance to awesomeness, Detroit Music Hall is yet another locale that can only add to the classiness and list of growing venues the Detroit Metro area offers. The concert was amazing (KC & the Sunshine Band), the staff and bar folks charming and equally classy, and the overall experience was wonderful. Will definitely be back for future events for certain. Make sure you give it a go - as Detroit retains the history, class and puts effort into keeping magical places like this where so many other cities tend not to.
Joan Herbert: Great venue! Lots of history and beautiful
Mike Millward: Great venue!! Not a bad seat
terrance hodge: One of Detroit's gems.
Sandi: KC and the Sunshine Band was awesome. The place is beautiful. Way too many steps for us older people. Overall, I'd come back again. Not a bad seat in the place
Twan Squad: Gotta Love This Venue... Always Good Vibes And Everyone Is Very Friendly!!
tamekia nash-walls: Food at the Jazz Cafe was decent.
Deborah Germany: Classicly beautiful theater space. Convienient structure parking. Very walkable with restaurants and attractions clustered near buy.
Lisa Kai: LOVE THE MUSIC HALL; LOVE THE MANY PERFORMERS THAT HAVE GRACED THIS VENUE!WONDERFUL!!!
Thisisme CantUC: This place is falling apart. Look up and see the plaster and paint falling off. And why was it so much smoke coming from the light's on stage, don't the have fan's to cool the lights? I thought it was a fire starting. Let's talk about the seats from hell. The seats are so close and uncomfortable, your blood will stop flowing in your legs. Spirit airline seats feels like heaven compared to these seats. I'm 5"4 and it hurt my knees sitting there. And don't think about wearing a dress , the person seated in front of you don't have to try very hard to see up it. I was ready to leave before the play was over, but we wasn't the only one with that ideal, 8 people tried to, but The elevator stop working and we all had to go down 4 very dark floors(no lights on) to get out this death trap. I don't won't to die, so I won't be back till they put some money into this place and make it safer and more comfortable than it is.
Trina Hutchings: I was very disappointed with the snack options and I don't believe you could take the food to your seat so I paid an arm and a leg for a 99 cent can of Pringles and $1 Water oh & my girl got a drink the total was $46 🤣😂🤣
Joya Mills: Beautiful venue. Excellent acoustics. Nice roomy seats but the cushions are worn. The seats are the reason I did not give 5 stars.
Mark Anthony: Had a great time at the Music Hall. Excellent acoustics and intimate setting.
