Super easy to talk with (they actually respond to customers!). I didn't have time to play w/ the acoustic guitars or all the other fun stuff they have so will definitely be stopping in again.

GROSSE POINTE MUSIC ACADEMY: what do users think?
Nicole Phillips: Excellent staff. Easy to make appointment for sessions. Clean & warm environment.
Juanita Allen: Piano lessons for my GrandSun, Quince Jr.
Sweet ViolaChick: Great place to work at as a teacher, and wonderful atmosphere for clients of all ages to learn. The owner is awesome, and staff here at the front desk are exceptionally accommodating in every situation. I highly recommend working here and/or getting music lessons!
Vincent Riegler: Friendly people are here
Carrie A.F. Nantais: Our boys starting taking lessons via Zoom in October 2020 due to COVID and we have had the best experience with our teacher, Ms. Haley! She has been patient, engaging and able to give quality instruction. We are likely going to stay with this format for a while because it is so convenient. In addition, the communication with staff at the school has been great -- quick, responsive and helpful. Highly recommend GP Music Academy!
Jeffrey Stine: We are long time customers an could not imagine going anywhere else. Professional, friendly and just an all around excellent environment for music education.
Georgetta Bond: Awesome staff. My daughter LOVES and looks forward to her piano lesson each week.
Ashish Ahlawat: I’d like to share a very pleasant experience with the academy. I go to the location in Grosse Pointe. First, I want to start by saying how talented and what a wonderful teacher and a coach Cheryl is. I believe, that I have improved ten fold ( that is, including my peers) since I’ve started taking lessons with her. Second, Kala, the desk manager Is also exceptionally good at handling every possible situation I’ve dealt with the academy. Last, but not the least, after have been attending the academy for a while, I had run into a little hiccup with some other person at the reception, to which the owner of the academy was not only very understanding, but also very accommodating and generous with handling the situation. I’d like thank all of you for making this a wonderful experience. And please keep up the great work! 👍🏼
Boch Suson: My kids have been taking music lessons for few years now at Grosse Pointe Music Academy. Since then my wife and I have noticed improvements with their musical performance and self confidence. Thanks and Great job!
Kaltrina Lleshaj: I take my girls for Piano lessons and my son for Drum lessons. Their teachers are so nice and patient. Grosse Pointe music Academy is an amazing place to take your children music lessons. Everyone is so nice and helpful with everything. Love this place and I highly recommend it.
Jennifer Perry: Wonderful place and the teachers are kind and patient, highly recommend. My sons look forward to their lessons every week!
Matthew Nickel: This is really comfortable place to learn music. Great people, nice environment, and they have music together for young children. Just love it. Look out for the meters in front during the day though, the city issues tickets a little too easily. I know the music studio has asked the city to be gentle on their clients.
Evyeni Geno Keramaris (Geno Has Something To Say): I absolutely love teaching here. A great environment for both kids and adults. Our desk girl/secretary Kala is absolutely awesome. Our owner Henry is a very kind and good man. I am proud to teach here and highly recommend all of our staff to work with you or your kids. The efficiency with which both Henry and Kala manage to run this place is unprecedented.
Brynn Jezdimir: My family has had a wonderful experience with the hummingbird music together class. My children 2 &1 have a new appreciation for beats and love going to class. I would recommend for all ages!!!
Scott: For all guitar repairs. A big shout out to Dave (Master Luthier at GP Music Academy). Dave has worked on several of my guitars and I have been impressed with the consistent quality of his work. Most recently, I had a guitar that was unplayable. Dave turned it into one of my favorites.
Christina Partalis: My 10-month old daughter, Gabriella, loves her Music Together classes! We listen to the CDs at home and in the car so she's familiar with the music when we're in class. It's amazing how she recognizes the songs and dances to the beat! Thank you, Miss Sarah and Miss Emily! :)
Barika Butler: GPMA, Music Together and Ms Sarah have been WONDERFUL!!!! My daughter LOVES Ms Sarah and her energy! She asks about her all the time and is always excited to go to class. She has been through 5 sessions now and always is eager to return. She has developed amazing rhythm and loves exploring a number of musical instruments. I am confident that Music Together has had a lot to do with this love for music and making music. I hope to continue our relationship with the classes for years to come.
Stephanie Witte: Attending Music Together with my son has been such an amazing experience, and continues to be something we look forward to each semester. We started attending class when he was 8 months old and within weeks his love for music and dance was abundantly clear. I have no doubt in my mind that these classes are cultivating a real passion for music and rhythm in him that may not have developed quite the way it is without Music Together. It has created so many lasting memories for our family, both in class and out, as it has encouraged us to incorporate singing, dancing, playing instruments and general fun into our daily lives with music. I can't recommend this program enough!
Melissa Keagle: We participated in the Big Kid Music Together class and it allowed our daughter to enter the world of music with confidence. Through experiencing concepts such as tempo, rhythm, and improvisation, the class helped prepare her for the structure and skills needed for piano playing. The introduction to music concepts was key, but it also opened the door to the creative output of making music. She now very much enjoys playing piano and making music her own.
Jennifer Baranski: We had my daughter's 7th birthday at GPMA earlier this month and it was a blast!!!! The kids had so much fun, learning rhythm and trying out all the instruments. Toepher and Dave were great instructors and helpful throughout the entire party. My friends and family loved it and said how creative and fun it was. I would highly recommend GPMA as an option for a birthday event. And, piano lessons may be in my daughter's future at GPMA! Great place and very inspiring!
Vanessa Dietderich: My daughter is taking voice lessons through the GPMA with De'Sean. I have absolutely nothing but wonderful things to say about him and the entire staff. After my daughter leaves her lesson she is enthusiastic to practice and improve but more importantly her confidence in herself and her progress is bolstered which is no doubt due to the superior teaching style of her instructor. I have seen first hand the other instructors styles and lessons as well and can with confidence say they are all true professionals with a passion for teaching and the ability to connect with students.

The Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music®: what do users think?
Ananda Ami: in love.I been going here for almost 2 months and it just feels so familiar and new and exciting every visit. I have improved in my vocals so much thanks to my teacher Sherry! she's so enthusiastic, kind, passionate, and educated on her crafts. I am someone with HUGE anxiety but I am telling you coming here you will not feel that sense. I've already improved so much it's honestly scary. Sad that it's once a week and 30 minute sessions but that's totally acceptable and appropriate but it's honestly so dope you'd wanna be here 24/7 cause you learn and have fun at the same time. Covid-19 protocols are in place and safe staff are vaccinated and wear masks. While singing with Sherry we both maintain distance as much as possible and wear clear face shields they have plenty provided as well due to being able to see vocal technique and to hear clearly) so that is not a worry. Not to mention it is a clean space and is affordable for families. I love it here3
Ed Hopkins: This state-of-the-art facility is efficiently and professionally run and maintained, and all current health and safety guidelines are well in place and practiced. It's a work space that any artist and technician can walk into with confidence, and know that whatever the goal at hand is, be it lessons or recording sessions, the outcome is bound to be successful.
Donnie Kellerman: I've been a local on & off gigging musician for 35 yrs & didn't know this place ever existed!! I'm glad it's here!!!
Shane Barry: If you're thinking about getting into music, DSRP rocks. The staff are super kind and willing to work with any level of musician. I had never held a guitar prior to my first class and they make approaching music a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be.Ray is my guitar teacher and I would highly recommend him. He has given me insight into music theory, but made the topic manageable for me with my available time to play. Highly recommend DSRP is you're looking to get into music.
Adam Bowden: Best place in town for rehearsal space! Their studio is top notch!
Mirror Image: We love the DSRP!!! My boys have excelled so much since they began taking lessons and joined a band 3 years ago. We drive an hour each week from Grosse Ile and it is definitely worth it!
Anthony Lupone: DSRP is the musical ‘glue’ of Royal Oak! Both my kids have been taking lessons for years with Julie and Steve and both are awesome. They have a knack for sneaky teaching, making the kids better while they don’t even know it! When my son came home and asked to listen to and play Rolling Stones tunes, I knew we were at the right palace. Thanks DSRP for all the cool stuff you do!
Megan Mccarthy: My son has been going to the Detroit School of Rock and Pop since he was 7 years old. He is now a senior in high school and an incredible musician and singer as a result of the amazing jobsHis teachers and mentors did at DSRP.His band has played all over the city and he’s experienced live broadcasts and wonderful events full of interesting people. The support he received through this program not only helped him grow artistically, but as a person as well. Shout out to Julie, Rocco, Jason, and Sherry for helping to guide Cole in his musical career. He has loved every minute of it and we have too.God bless this awesome school!!!
Mike Glaza: Absolutely the best around! Jason, Sherry, Mike, and all the mentors at DSRP are fantastic. Our son started with their Summer Rocks! summer camp in 8th grade and continued with lessons until graduating from High School. The time and attention that he received from DSRP is invaluable, and Jason even helped us apply for aid from the Live The Music Foundation to assist us in keeping his lessons going when we couldn't afford it on our own. Today, he is pursuing a career as a professional musician and has many opportunities open to him thanks in large part to the training, mentoring, and connections he received at DSRP.I can't say enough good things about them. Thank you Jason, Sherry, Mike and everyone at DSRP! You all rock!
Mikey Kimball: I have personally played gigs with many teenagers who came out of this program and they play like professionals, with top-notch proficiency and excellent attitudes! I recommend this place more than any other in the Metro Detroit area!

Bayberry Music: what do users think?
tinesha erskine: I had my Viola looked at as well as inquired about other instruments. They were so knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. They explained everything they were doing to fix my Viola as well as some tips and things to look out for. I can tell they are passionate about all string instruments. I would definitely recommend and will be making this my go-to string repair and purchase store.
Yeman Al-Rawi: This is where you want to be for all your music needs… seriously, Andy and his team are some of the best at what they do and they’re genuine, honest people.
Catrina Street: What an amazing company! My son broke the neck on his guitar and you can not even see a mark after the repair. Very professional and friendly staff as well.
jon fricke: Andy was great to work with. Transparent on price, options, and timing. Really nice guy too!
Josh J: Amazing setup, fast turnaround & kind service.
Beo Games: Never went but I love it!
Michelle Hansen: Kkj
Jeff Pursell: Great place to buy or fix guitars or pretty much anything with strings
George M Wilson: Personable, skilled, great selection of supplies. Also, super happy to have a shop close by in Ferndale. 10/10 would recommend- for servicing guitars, and orchestral string instruments.
Patrick Becerra (PBeetheFox): I took my Strat in last week and asked Andy to install some locking tuners. They did a great job putting them on, and the turnaround was quick too. I've heard Andy referred to as "Koontz Junior" and I believe the moniker is well earned.
John Danna: Brought a 96 stratocaster in for a full fret re-work. I was nervous about who to bring it to. Took a chance and Andy up front was a professional. Promised within a week and done in 2 days. They did wonderful work for a reasonable price. I will be going back for future work. Thank you!
Joshua Steiner: Took my guitar in for a busted tuning machine. Ultimately it couldn't be fixed. But the man at the counter made a great attempt and the parts I needed to replace were in stock.
Robert Konieczko: Thank you,Andy. Your workmanship is first rate. Youve given new life to my inexpensive guitar,it now looks and plays like one ten times more expensive.
Keaton Soto-Olson: I would highly recommend this shop for anyone seeking outstanding customer service, a great selection of instruments, or expert repairs. Andy absolutely saved me (and the gig) with a short notice pickup install on my upright. Despite being close to closing time for the shop, Andy did the install and let me test it out on his PA. If you’re a string player of any sort definitely check out this shop, a great place to get a fresh set-up on your instrument or buy your new rig!
Serpent Column: Extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and professional craftsman whose work is on par with Ann Arbor Guitars. There's really nobody comparable in the metro area.
John Taylor: Great place to shop and have your guitar set up at. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices were very reasonable and they took very good care of my son when we went there for the first time.
Justin Foust: I took two of my guitars to Andrew at Pursell Lutherie on a whim after hearing they worked on wooden instruments. He did wonderful work! I will always take my instruments to him in the future. He worked on both my Gibson and Mule Resonator in a timely and friendly manner. Would recommend Pursell Lutherie highly!
Joe Vrabel: Andy and team are the best! After having them fix and set up a used strat I picked up, I was sold. I will never take any of my gear to the big-box "center" again. Andy and team will take you through the repairs/adjustments they did, in detail and answer any questions you may have. I now have had them repair & set up three of my guitars and each one came back to me looking amazing and sounding even better. I now go there for lessons too. Overall, a great local business that I am happy to give my business to. Definitely give them a try!
eric kirkwood: I acquired a 1953 Gibson J45 that was found in an attic in royal oak. The guitar had so many cracks and loose bracing I was worried it might be too far gone. Andy completely restored and rescued the guitar while perfectly preserving its patina and charm and it is now the best player I own. I cant put it down. Being a craftsman myself, when I saw Andy's workshop I knew the guitar was in the right hands. This man is a highly skilled artisan. Many thanks to Andy, and to Aaron for the referral. These guys are friendly, accommodating and highly professional.
Jodi B: I’m so excited to hear the same folks are re-opening their store! Wonderful place and super nice people.
Joshua and Zena Neds-Fox: Pursell Lutherie is friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, and extremely competent. Set up my D'Angelico after a cold snap shifted the action and frets. My budget was tight and they still did right by me and the instrument. Sounds wonderful. A+, will certainly visit again.
