Loreta Geneviciute: Amazing restaurant ! My husband and I visited this place September of 2022 and we both agreed that we will come back to Detroit just to eat at this place again. We love all the food we had and drinks were delicious! If you ever visit Detroit this place should be at the top of your restaurant list.
Stephanie O'Callaghan: Since it opened, it’s been one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. Always meets or exceeds expectations. Love the vibe, the decor, etc and more importantly love the food. It’s fresh and creative, flavorful and doesn’t sit heavy. I like the Mediterranean vibe but they don’t limit themselves creatively. The pastas are always phenomenal. The veggie dishes delicious and thoughtful. I love sitting at the chefs counter and watching them work the open fire and coal oven spaces. Great beverage list too! Highly recommend. I always stop here when I’m in the area.
Alex: One of the best dining experiences I've had in Michigan. Started off with the cocktail called immediate detour. I was pleasantly surprised how tasty the drink was given I'm usually underwhelmed by restaurant cocktails. The food was amazing. I was able to try the green salad, roasted broccoli, roasted pasnips, roasted potatoes, cacio e pepe, chittara, and beef tartare. All were excellent, but the pastas (cacio e pepe and chittara) and the roasted potatoes were my favorite. I tried the horchata tres leche cake for dessert. I've never tried this style of cake before and I wasn't a big fan, but it was good to try something new. I also tasted a bit of the pecan pie -- highly recommended. Looking forward to trying this place out again.

Todays Present: This was a perfect dining experience. Ryan is the best waiter. After coming here again, I will request him every time. He gives excellent recommendations and his descriptions ensure there are no surprises. I loved everything we had here. The sweet potato pasta and the mushrooms were my absolute favorite. The broccoli was great, but very spicy. The duck on toast was divine! The tri tip and the raspberry tart were just okay (I wouldn't order again). I enjoyed having the dining room reservation, the communal reservation would be too loud/close and not my type of experience. The scallops were spicy but irresistible. The hake is the only thing I’ve ever tried here that did not meet the standards of the rest of the food. It was mushy and inedible. I wasn’t told if this was a fluke or by design. But I would not recommend the hake.
Sanam Sharif: Good place. Good food. Good service. Family style dining. Has a good vibe and ambiance.
E Vaughan: Have been here several times, but this time, my daughter, who is highly allergic to tree nuts, came along. I was able to notify Selden Standard at the time of making the reservation. The staff got the message and were ready for us. The staff was extremely careful and accommodating. We are grateful for their kind attention.Recommended dishes Lamb Chops …More

Juliette Okotie-Eboh: Rude manager and hostess staff— I have dined there frequently over the years and always had a great experience until today. Their behavior was racist and very upsetting— I will never return!! Must be new management — I did not see the folks who were always gracious and welcoming. Our server was fine but I was throughly insulted, especially by the manager. What a disappointment.

Nicole T: Am I the only one confused by all these 4 star reviews?? I think it’s by childless millennial hipsters who think they are dining in an upscale Manhattan atmosphere. I found NOTHING about this place appealing - except the waitress who was very kind and attentive. The menu is extremely overpriced with froufrou stuff and small portions. And how are charging over $20 for vegetables?? $18 for some cooked cheese? Tiny little portions . We had 3 “‘meals” and shared 3 appetizers and still weren’t full. To top it off, I got extreme food poisoning from there. I don’t mind paying more for a good dinner, but at least include some sides and have more salad choices. Not very impressed in the least bit. I’d rather spend my money elsewhere where at least you get good portion size- and not dishes that were created for someone’s Instagram “aesthetic”Vegetarian options: More vegetarian options than actual meat
Bridget Finn: All time favorite forever. ♥️
Nicole Castro: Great food and service. It can be pretty loud, so if you are sensitive, you may want to consider going at off hours. The tres leches cake was wonderful.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Oysters on the Half Shell …More

William Vosotros: Food was wonderful. The fennel & endive salad was good. Cacio e Pepe was great! The lamb ribs were soft and cooked really well. The agrodolce and lemon yogurt works really well with the lamb. The green sauce elevates the grilled chicken flavor. Both the cod & bass were awesome! Overall it was a truly wonderful gastronomic experience.Parking: Limited parking on the side back of the restaurant but lots of parking on the street as well as the vacant lot on the front of restaurant.
Josh Levey: Excellent farm to table dining in midtown Detroit. Food is very high quality and unique, with interesting, distinct and delicious flavor pairings. Cocktails and drinks are also great. Several vegan and vegetarian options. We ordered the roasted carrots, the roasted broccoli, the roasted mushrooms, the cacio e pepe and the chittara. Everything was amazing. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive, bringing us fresh plates and utensils after every course. Great, refined dining experience

Standby: what do users think?
Shaun Naidu: Visited Standby twice over the past year (travel from Western Canada). If I could have an evening out anywhere, this would be the place. Cocktails are on point, staff are great, and the music/vibe is unreal. I’ve travelled a lot and been to many cocktail bars, Standby is among the best. Can’t wait for the next visit to Detroit this weekend!
Martin Towne III: Definitely passes the vibe check. Josh is the man.
Kelly Fair: Omg it's always so amazing. The cocktails and apps can't be beat. Try the break even bottle sun-Thurs for sure. The staff is is so good.
Tim Wilson: Very cool speakeasy, tucked away at the end of "The Belt". Great drinks, nice unique atmosphere.
Scott Dodge: Absolutely terrible, reserved a table for 6, we sat down ordered drinks and after 20 mins we were told they needed one of our chairs and we asked why not take any one of the open chairs in the restaurant or find a chair in the basement and they would not, their solution was to put us at a smaller table and after we argued it they kicked us out, all because they did not have an extra chair and quite frankly I think because we were white and gay they did not want us there
Carlos Rosado: Tommy’s Margarita, best one ever!I like this bar, but it could use a tiny bit more light, feels too dark.
Denise Rouse: Great space and Excellent burgers. The old fashioned was spectacular.
Jaycee Tuttle: Love this place. Bartender josh 10/10
Jonathan Tasman: It's hip but packed, loud, and difficult to get quick service.
Michael Taillard: Exactly as the name implies: It's the place you go when you need an unplanned place to go. It's definitely good, but for the prices you can get better.... if you can get better. If you can't, then this is the best.
Joe Stierman: My favorite cocktail bar. Approachable prices for how high quality they are. Menu has great descriptions for each drink in three words each. Cool vibe.
Katie Karana: The best drinks in the D! I loved how each drink was categorized and they are all well balanced. Tasty food as well!!
Steve Kaudle: A large menu of innovative cocktails. Great vibe. Fantastic bartenders. Hands down, the best bar in Detroit.
Lakyra Shackelford: This is one of my favorite places to introduce new friends. Great cocktails, great food!
Lemuria Fashions: The drinks, interior design & bar tenders were amazing but the GM was rude and had a attitude very unprofessional for the space
Ian Ross: Love this place! I always seem to get an outstanding cocktail to go with my meal every time I come in! Don’t sleep on the wings. Ask the bartender for a “cold front” shot. So good!
Megan Trantham: Went to the standby for date night and my husband took one drink of his cocktail and had a piece of glass in his mouth. We informed the server and the bartender said “that’s not glass, it’s a piece of ice” LOL it didn’t melt in the 5 minutes it was in my hand. They never apologized, offered to remake the drink or took it off of the tab until we had asked for it. Management never appeared at the table or anything. Do not recommend going there.
aditya mohanty: Food was great but not well planned. Maybe for just that day . But all else was okay . Service was slow . So slow they took 45 mins for 2 drinks after ordering .
Denise M: Went there on a Saturday night and it was really busy but were seated quickly at the bar. I enjoyed watching the bartender make all those different drinks! I had the Dolce Rosa and it was delish. My friend had the Penicillin and that was good too. Good atmosphere and music. I'll be back!
Chyna Racine: We made reservations maybe an hour before getting here. We came here on a Staurday night and it was a decent crowd but we didn't have to wait to be seated. The dining space is pretty small, so some of the tables are less than an arm length away. Our server greeted us promptly and was very friendly and personable. We were pretty hungry, so we ordered a decent amount of food. The food came out pretty quickly and everything was really good! We especially enjoyed the Korean wings and coconut calamari. The cucumber salad was refreshing, and the Arancini was very yummy. My husband said his burger was a tad salty, but I think he liked it. The Jalapeños cheese dip for the pretzels was a little too thick for dipping, but we liked the fresh homemade pretzels. I really enjoyed my mushroom tostados, and the dessert was fine, but probably not anything I would order again because it was a bit too dry for my liking.Atmosphere: Trendy bar Vibes. Music is pretty loud, so be prepared to speak up to be heard. The lights went out at 10 pm, so it was pretty dark, but we survived. They do validate parking, so that was appreciated. All and all we enjoyed the food and good service so we will be back.
dorsey vital: Fun and good DJ

I spoke to a nice young lady and she got me a reservation. I’ve never been to this restaurant and our sever Ibrahim was very attentive and he suggested a cocktail that complimented my meal. We were asked about special occasions or dietary restrictions and that was awesome. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was clean. The food and service was excellent and I’m sure I’ll be back.

Eric Lindsay: This is a must stop for anyone in Detroit. Make a reservation as it does fill up every night. Its my fav burger in Detroit but everything on the menu is a must try. Everything is made in house and it shows, the drinks are just as good if not better than the food as well so indulge when you go.
Michael Taillard: An excellent restaurant experience. Great service, great cocktails, great atmosphere. The food menu relies heavily on obvious things that fail to showcase the culinary talents of the chefs (e.g.: oysters, steaks, etc.) buy the food is still very good. The wine list, while limited, is impeccable. Definitely worth the trip.Food: 4/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Lola Meyers: Best shareable plates + cocktails. Always 10/10 date night spot
Dezerai Monique: It was a great night the ambience was good nice atmosphere. I ordered the lamb and really wanted to like it was terrible like they just put tomato paste water down on top of it how can lamb not be tender and moist? It was dry bland horrible just horrible. I found nothing to like about the meal. Besides the drinks were good. I see why it's called GHOST...
Kelly Marie: I think this place has a lot of potential. I worked in the service industry for a while and I expect a certain level of decency from staff. The general manager did not seem to have that. I was accused of feeding a backserver caviar which never actually happened. I apologize if my verbiage came off wrong- please show me your cameras. My group was cut off and we decided it was best to leave as the vibe was off. You know, nobody fell over, no one yelled, I was accused of making “slurs” and honestly we just came in for some late night food around 9 pm. I’m still not sure what the real issue was. I’m so over spending 300Plus dollars to be treated like trash. If the owner is reading this- please reach out. I’ve been coming here for years and your GM needs an attitude adjustment.

Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails: what do users think?
Lauren Thul: This was our first meal, on our first trip to Detroit, and it was delightful! Maricela was a fantastic server that made us feel so welcome and gave us lots of tips and suggestions for exploring the city. As a gluten-free customer, she made it super easy for me to know what was GF friendly. The food was so delicious, and I've never seen a selection of Chartreuse (my favorite liquor) quite like this. Atmosphere was lovely without being pretentious. We can't wait to return to Detroit and hopefully see Maricela again!
Valerie Rusinowski: This place is always great - but if you want extra superb ask for Katie as your server!! She makes the experience extra!!
Kashyap Sigdel: Possibly the best hospitality I've ever received at a restaurant. Everyone did a fantastic job. Food was great and ambiance was great as well. Food portions are a little small so I'd recommend getting more than you think you need. The place was packed when we went for dinner on a Tuesday, so it was a little loud, but other than that, I'd give this restaurant 10 stars!

K. L.M.: I've been here a number of times, and never had a dish I didn't like. Nothing has even been "meh." I'm glad they have a menu that isn't overwhelming, because I already feel major FOMO when picking what to get! My husband an I cam back for our anniversary, and the staff went above and beyond. We'll continue to be return customers for many years.Dietary restrictions: My husband and I had a minimony where we had our immediate family witness our legally binding wedding ceremony (the courthouse was still shut down for weddings due to COVID) at a gallery in the DIA. We chose Chartreuse for dinner afterward, partially due to proximity, but also because the menu looked great, and they were willing to work with a number of different dietary restrictions for everyone in the group. Everyone left giving rave reviews! Meal ingredients were either tweaked or the rare dish that couldn't be made without the trigger/allergen was struck off the family member's menu. Above and beyond for 3 people with highly specific dietary needs.
Brandon Gomes: Great menu, food was tasty. We had four dishes, including dessert plus a couple of cocktails. The chartreuse was a great new experience, tried the green and the yellow, amazing in cocktails. The shareable plates model is great, although it is better for some dishes more than others. But the service was great, the atmosphere was awesome (definitely recommend for dinner dates), and the flavors here are lovely. A little overzealous with the microgreens in my opinion but overall worth it.

Jenny Heinze: Amazing cocktails. Ask for recommendations. And wonderful vegetarian options!I had to update my review after our visit tonight. The service team is exceptional, all working as one. Taking time to listen and explain their delicious dishes. Sensual dining at it's best and an amazing team!Dietary restrictions: Your server will explain all gluten-free options and the kitchen will accommodate your needs.
Pavlov Iryna: This place made my Birthday with a spark. Let me tell you this, I never come back to places with poor service. well this place is great! Hostess was super sweet and gave me a birthday card that was signed by the servers, it was so sweet! Our server was super nice, cool and friendly. Food was amazing, it is perfect for everyone who appreciate a good cuisine. They have a seasonal menu which is always interesting! Bar is great as well. My husband and I are cocktail buffs and pretty picky ones, and their cocktails are delicious and in point. The place itself has a character too, sort of rustic French in one of the old Detroit building. Overall it’s a good restaurant for this who appreciate good food and good drinks. Recommend!
Nadja Becker: Pretty decent food.Absolut good cocktails.Gluten free food available.I really enjoyed every bite of it. Good place to go after visiting the DIADietary restrictions: Gluten free

Jim Fabry: Ordered a few oysters a la carte and they were genuinely the best we’ve had. Comparing to some high-end places in the Seattle area. And the desserts are fantastic as well!
Ron Reed: I've been trying to eat at Mink for a while, but it's been too full. Now I understand why it's packed. First, it is a very small place (seating about 20).Think high-end oysters, canned fish, and caviar. Great tasting menu and superior flavors.I just went again and tried their horseradish infused vodka with a few oysters. Thus was a real treat, and I recommend that anyone who enjoys oysters and vodka give this a try. It is a really amazing combination.Staff was typical super Detroit friendly.

Carolyn Suttles: We had the BEST dinner here last weekend - the food is just so good. Super fresh oysters, everything cooked perfectly, so many yummy flavors! I think my absolute favorite thing of the night was the duck liver mousse toast. WOW. It melts in your mouth and the garnish is just perfect. Sweet and savory. Honestly, everything was so tasty, it's hard to come up with favorites! The other standout was the dessert, actually. This amazing stuffed pancake with fruit, and I added upside down cake ice cream - it was some of the best ice cream I've ever had - with actual cake mixed into the soft, creamy ice cream. So much yum. I also love that they always have decently priced ($5) mocktails or non-alcoholic beverages that aren't super sweet. It's very much a bonus to be able to order something other than water or sparkling water. I'm always looking forward to my next visit! Just be prepared to smell a bit smoky - ventilation isn't great and they're cooking right in the same little room. Worth it!

Heather Vingsness: Stunning! What a magical experience. We had the holiday special tasting menu Fete au Fish, and it blew us away. Exceptional food, knowledgeable and fun staff, and an intimate venue. Six cooks/staff and seating for twelve diners. We sat right at the bar and watched them lovingly prepare each course. The chefs were excited about what they were cooking and had fun conversations with their coworkers. The wait staff recommended amazing oysters and delicious beverage pairings. They had fabulous non-alcoholic beverage options for my partner, and I enjoyed the sake flight. The langostine pot au feu was my favorite - the broth was so flavorful! I was also enchanted by the escargot toasts featuring tiny snail roe.We look forward to returning!
Casey Lewry: Outstanding food, definitely the best seafood in Detroit
Aren Stobby: Unique Seafood forward menu
Laura Symington: Beyond delicious food and great atmosphere
Amie Coulter: Amazing food and the best service! I can’t wait to come back!
Elizabeth Dowd: My favorite seafood place!!!
Benjamin Walstrom: Best Seafood/Oyster bar in Michigan!
Chris: Easily one of Detroit’s best restaurants. Small footprint, with an incredible rotating pre-fixe menu. Beautifully designed interior with a down-to-earth crew who welcomes you the moment you enter.I used to live on the East Coast and Mink’s seafood-centric menu easily competes with anything I had while living out there. Plus, they have hands down one of the best curated oyster menus I have come across. Great selection of east and west coast oysters that changes from week to week and tinned fish.I’m pretty confident that anyone leaving less than a five star review for Mink means the reviewer either doesn’t like seafood or doesn’t know what they are talking about.

Entrees were amazing. My husband asked to know how they made their potatoes and we ended up meeting the chef. I couldn't be happier with my experience.
C P (Fozy Bear): First and foremost, the people here are amazing. John and Stephanie knew the history of the building, were very attentive to our needs and we had great convos with them even though it was close to afternoon closing time.THE FOOD!! OMG DELISH! I had the crab eggs Bennie and my husband had the hash omelet. The combination of flavors on the eggs Benedict just hit perfectly and his homemade jam on his delicious toast just made his morning. The building has so much history as you would expect but I will let you explore that on your own.We will be returning sooner than later as prices weren't to bad either.

Nic R: My bestie and I love to find new and different places to dine; Cork and Gabel DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We started with the smoked wings, and although small, they were flavorful and filling. We both concluded that people have been conditioned to believe that wings are supposed to be humongous, and what they served is how a wing should look. :) We both had the lobster shrimp ravioli. It was flavorful and filling as well. The cocktails were recommended to us by our server Alex, whom I need a separate page for because he was a that amazing! But, back to the cocktails, they were perfect. I told Alex what I had a taste for, and he delivered. My bestie had the divorce or something(LOL) and she loved it. The decor and the esthetics were unique and welcoming. I loved the shape of the building. They have an outside dining area that would be perfect in the warmer months. They also have their own parking lot which was a huge plus! Now to the service, absolutely exceptional!! Our server was Alex and everything you read about him in these reviews (well everything good; I haven’t read them all. LOL) is ALL TRUE. This is the type of server you want, when trying a new spot, returning to your favorite spot, or anytime you dine out. He is phenomenal. He was attentive, knowledgeable and super friendly and cool. This guy is the truth. I hope he’s the head server and trains the others, because he’s set the bar super high.I absolutely enjoyed this place and will definitely be back. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. Hands down, my latest favorite spot to dine in Corktown.
R S: Sat at bar. Bartender spoke very low and unable to hear after I told himI was deaf/HOH. He was pushing for me to get booze. C&G does not give menu as I did not know what the restaurant serve. I don’t have a scan on phone. Disappointed after a long drive on a rainy Sunday morning. Maybe I might try again after I get over this disappointment.

It's a great venue to have a wedding reception, shower or any other special event! Everything was extremely professional and it's extremely accessible. Fee Greene: The food was great. Alex, our waiter was awesome, but I did not like the fact that it was a $20 outside dessert fee. The Mgr was kind enough to remove the fee. I look forward to dining there in the coming months!!Wheelchair accessibility: I use a walker. There were two handicap spaces that were visible from where I parked. A wide gate from the parking lot gave me plenty of room to walk to the doorway of the restaurant, so I had no problem entering and going straight to our reserved table. The tables were also spaced far enough apart that my walker did not interfere with waitstaff or patrons walking from table to table.
Andrew: Fantastic experience every time I come here especially for brunch. The vibe and mood of the staff is always so welcoming and the food always comes out so quick, tastes, amazing, and just hits the spot. Definitely get an order of the cinnamon buns when you're there. Kai H: My family and I had brunch here on Saturday and it was one of the best experiences. First of all the food was so delicious. My boyfriend and I agree that the pancakes here are the best we have ever had. The corned beef hash was so good and not from a can. Our waitress was very kind and attentive. The food also came out very quickly, even though it was busy. We will be back.

Angie Clark: I recently visited Savannah Blue for the first time with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. Despite receiving high recommendations, our experience was underwhelming. Upon arrival, we paid $10 for parking in the back lot designated for the restaurant, but there were no clear directions to the front entrance. We accidentally walked into another establishment called the Willow before eventually finding our way up two flights of stairs to Savannah Blue. After being seated, we waited ten minutes without any service or even a menu. Eventually, a server arrived with empty glasses and then disappeared, only for the bartender to bring us water with the assurance that our server would be with us shortly. Despite seeing other staff members standing around, we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a busy holiday weekend and they were understaffed.Once we finally received a QR code to access the menu, we ordered two cocktails and the crab dip. While my drink was great, my husband was served a drink he didn't ask for and was charged an additional $2 for it to be served "neat." The crab dip was disappointing as well, tasting more like tuna than crab. While the wonton chips were enjoyable, the dish didn't live up to its cost for the quality of the ingredients. For our entrees, I ordered the braised oxtails and my husband ordered the fried ribs. Unfortunately, both dishes were underwhelming. The oxtails lacked flavor and tasted more like a bland pot roast, while the ribs were dry and nearly meatless.Overall, our experience at Savannah Blue fell short of our expectations. After paying the bill, we decided to go to Bucharest for a more enjoyable dining experience.

MR. MOLD: Food was great. Service was on the rough side.
Andrew G: Great spot for comfort food! Great vibe and service (make sure to abide by their dress code - don't wear casual or athleisure). Had the catfish and it was perfectly fried, not greasy at all. Collard greens were cooked so well - full of flavour. Definitely recommend if in Detroit.
Ren C.: Fantastic meal! Sam, the bartender/waiter was top notch. Fried chicken, shrimp and grits, Cornish hen, collard greens were awesome! Takia Maxwell: I visited this evening with my girlfriend. The waitress was pleasant and knowledgeable. She made sure we were happy and explained items we asked about. The salmon was really small for the price and I was a little disappointed that I was forced to order my meal ala-cart which resulted in me spending $20 more. The drinks were delicious.
kia G: I’m still thinking about the catfish, best I’ve ever had. This restaurant was surprisingly good. They accommodated us 30 mins before closing without problem. The crab cake was excellent as well. Drinks were strong. Macaroni was good. Didn’t care for the yams. Greens were good but a little spicy. I’ll be going back every time I visit the city.
Durvalle Robinson: Nice place
amanda jointer: I had so much hope for this restaurant for a first time visit. I had the catfish which was good, greens, sweet potatoes, and my BF and I shared some macaroni and cheese. Unfortunately the macaroni and cheese was dry. The sweet tea was served in a very small glass. My BF's lemonade taste like water. The corn muffins taste like a bag of sugar was included in the mix. I was so underwhelmed and yet I expected so much more!
Michelle Downs: Nice place, but far from upscale. Ordered a drink and they did not have the ingredients, so I ordered another think and it never came. When I reminded the waitress, she tried to give an excuse but I told her never mind because it was taking so long. I was there for my sister's Birthday and she could only reserve a seat of 4, and was told to call back to make another one if she wanted more people, so we did but she we got there the want to sit was across the room from each other. They finally seated us to receive cold food except the meat. I think I've had enough of this joint.
Big Boss Riss: Food was impeccable, even stayed hot until I was full. The setting was fancy & intimate. I loved my experience. First time from Pittsburgh, PA & I will be back.

Katie Huddlestun: I can't speak on the food because we never made it to that point. Service was absolutely horrible. Had a reservation and we showed up about 15 min early. Sat at the bar for about 10 minutes before the bartender even looked at us. He walked by about 20 times and didn't acknowledge us. Finally when my husband caught his attention, he came over annoyed and my husband asked for the beer selection. He opened the fridge and there were about three half empty six packs of beer. That was the selection, at a restaurant charging $40 a plate and $6 a beer. He brought my husband a beer and walked away without even asking me if I wanted anything. After another 10 minutes the hostess came to tell us our table was ready but we had to cash out first. Took ANOTHER 10 minutes to get the bartenders attention. Finally, we cashed out and waved over the hostess to tell her we were ready. When she came back she said she had to go find a table to clean off for us... Wasn't our table ready 10 min ago?? After all that, we were not going to spend $150 on a dinner where there was ZERO hospitality and serving $6 Coronas out of a six pack that they picked up from the liquor store on the way in. Needless to say, we walked out and went somewhere else.

Advertising as house made pasta , and it sure is, our dishes were all centers around either the protein or the sauce. San Morello: what do users think?
James Randel Virgin hair & Beauty Collection: Beautiful restaurant and beautiful staff. Can’t wait to come back. First time visitor was very impressed
Jennifer Sitto: In from LA but from Detroit originally, San morello has been a staple since the shinola hotel opened so we made a res for my last weekend in town — food and service were great, but was surprised to see our bill with $26 martini’s on it - ordered an espresso martini with tequila— and the bartender assumed represado was the way to go I guess? Worked industry for 10 years and it’s a known fact that if you want to sell top shelf, you ask if they have a pref on their liquor… I barely pay $26 for a martini in LA… so it’s laughable that I got duped here. Def ask for your preference unless you want to be upsold without asking..
Aaron Blair: Good food and great service. Seasonal menu so it may have something new for you. Can say enjoyed the "Grandmother's Ravioli" a more traditional dish with classic flavor profiles with a bit of a twist, really enjoyed it.

Stacy Marino: Dined here on Mother's day, and I have to say it was great. We had a reservation and was pleasantly greeted and promptly seated by the hostess. The serving staff is a very well orchestrated team, which provides excellent service even on a hectic day such as Mothers day.The menu is a perfect size menu, the dishes seem simple, however they're prepared and served completely elegantly and the flavor is wow. The cocktails were great as well.Desert. I ordered the coconut cake, which was just amazing. Even though I was full I could have eaten like 3 more lol. My daughter got the strawberry tiramisu (I sampled hers as well) and that was amazing too. - looking at the desert menu I would have liked one of everything 😋There's not one negative thing I could say about dining here. Because even if you have a question about something on the menu, they happily explain.5 or 10 stars - thank you for a great mother's day.
D Jordan: The restaurant was in a great location, however their service was terrible. The hostess that was assigned to assist us appeared to be unqualified for her position. She was able to under simple request like adjusting our table due to a child seat. There were several other families with baby strollers that were accommodated. Our hostess however did not seem interested in assisting us with our car seat. She then went to get a manager who appeared to have been bothered that he had to come and speak with us. He too was not interested in trying to accommodate us at all. Being that it was Mother’s Day and places were aware of the influx in service, you would think they would have been better prepared to handle most situations. Again, they accommodated two other families and their seating requests but failed to assist us or even be willing to try. I’ve dined at some of the finest restaurants in Detroit and I was hoping to add this one to the list. But I will never spend my money with businesses that don’t respect the fact that they are only thriving due to customers who visit their establishments. I hope they read this review and make some changes in they way they serve their customers.

David Sayah: This was an enjoyable evening. We drank a couple of improvised sweet mocktails, strawberry and lime. Our starter was the housemade focaccia with roasted asparagus & basil pesto. For our entrées, we ordered the parmesan risotto with asparagus, meyer lemon, fontina d’aosta and my grandmothers ravioli. For the dessert, we did the torta setteveli chocolate-hazelnut layer cake & fior di latte gelato. Everything listed above falls under the same category, mediocre. I’m not dying to come back to get any of them again in all transparency. We were serviced by Brianna who was helpful and descriptive about the menu. The atmosphere is gorgeous, it’s in the shinola hotel! I’d suggest giving this place a try but perhaps ordering things other than what my guest and I got.Parking: I had to valet, very limited parking options otherwise.

The Apparatus Room: what do users think?
Helen Izbor: Regrettably, my visit to The Apparatus Room was characterized by a disappointing dining experience that left an indelible negative impression. The troubles began even before the food arrived, stemming from a rather poorly managed environment and less-than-adequate service.Upon being seated, we were immediately faced with a disheartening sight: neighboring tables in disarray, dirty, with cleaning supplies carelessly strewn about. An unsightly beginning that was far from the welcome one would expect from a reputable restaurant. Our server, an older woman, was far from accommodating. When we pointed out the messy surroundings and asked for tidying up, her response was one of visible annoyance. What should have been a basic service request was met with apparent indifference. More than ten minutes passed before our request was begrudgingly attended to, and only after a second reminder.Regrettably, the shortcomings of the evening were not confined to service and cleanliness. The food, a supposed redeeming factor, fell significantly short of expectations. Our dishes lacked flavor, with the taste profiles bordering on the side of bland. A particularly disappointing example was an avocado tart that was so poorly presented we felt compelled to return it. For a restaurant that is supposed to provide a high-quality dining experience, the food was a letdown.Overall, it was a waste of time and money. Until significant improvements are made, I find it hard to recommend this establishment.
Avneet Hall: I love how the restaurant has maintained the historic charm of the building and is modern at the same time. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. I only have good things to say about this place. Definitely a gem in downtown Detroit.

HK S: I wanted to provide a feedback about my experience at Apparatus room on Feb 19th.We were seated at the long chairs in the back of the restaurant. When I enquired about table #44 with the waiter and then with the host she told me that it is reserved. I asked how is it so when I had made the reservation and I was explicitly told that table 44 is what would be reserved for me. She said she didn't see anything in the notes. I asked her "how would I even know about a table #44 if someone didn't tell me about it from the restaurant?" She didn't seem to have any cognizance of what is being told to her and was insinuating that I had not made a reservation because she said that people at table #44 had made the reservation. So then I enquired about another table which was empty and requested if we could be moved there. After initial refusal and me wanting to talk with the manager, we were moved to table #45.This seems very poor customer service skills by not acknowledging that the mistake was on the restaurant's side. I even showed the email interaction between the restaurant and myself to the waiter who was initially talking with us.For food, I got the celery dish. The dish was very salty. I told our waiter and all she said was she will let the chef know. There were limited vegetarian options on the menu and everything had pungent, vinegar like smell in it; the bread and crispy potatoes (which btw were not crispy at all). No way this dish should even be on the menu. It was one of the weirdest dishes I have ever tried.Ultimately our night didn't go as we had planned and food was definitely disappointing to say the least. After I emailed the restaurant about my experience, I was told that someone from management will reach out to me to discuss my experience which never happened. I'll not be going back to this restaurant or recommend anyone.

tammy wu: I paid $48 dollars for halibut, and I am still hungry. We spent $183 not including tip and my tummy is literally still growling. We ate bread with butter, beef carpaccio, flank steak, very soggy and wet cold fries, and halibut. We ordered the mains and sides as per the waitress’ recommendation. The portions are TINY. The halibut was littered with spring onions and regular onions which I did not eat. I still want to kiss my date after this meal. They garnished it with 6 peas. The “new potato” is VERY THINLY SLICED garnishing potato with zero seasoning. The only thing that was truly edible was the tiny portion of fish for $48 which was average at best. My dish was also the most expensive??? We are on our way to pick up something to fill me up on the way back to our hotel or else I’m having sleep for dinner. Tragic meal.

Scott Craig: Amazingly disappointing experience at the Apparatus Room. The price gauging for 3 cocktails is unbelievable. We were charged $30 for a drink that would typically cost $20 (high end). We were also told that in Detroit all drinks use 2oz of liquor- when in fact the drink is equal parts at 3/4-1oz each. Troubling and very disappointing. I expect more from Detroit.
