Gina Shay: Purchased a car today from LaFontaine. The price kept changing; after we had agreed on a price and I got the ball rolling at the bank and moved money around, the salesperson called me back and said that the car was a different price. He kept telling me he was working on a better out the door price, but after several exchanges back and forth, he basically quoted me the sticker price. After I reluctantly agreed to the higher price since I had everything in motion to buy the car and was kind of over a barrel at that point, we drove it off of the lot and it had less than 1/8 tank of gas in it for our 1.5 hour drive home. I have never in 25 years of car buying ever received a car without a full tank of gas as a courtesy. That classy little touch would have honestly made me feel a little better about this situation. I don’t feel good about this purchase and I don’t trust this dealership. I’m angry at myself for going through with the purchase.

Kenneth Beatty: Forgive me for my ignorance due to the fact that this is “my first car,” meaning the first car I’ve actually purchased and brought in for service straight to the dealership. Not only was I struggling to find a local dealership that was willing to work on my foreign car, you guys charged me way more money and still had to order a part from out of state? I thought the point of going directly to the dealership was to streamline the process, not make it longer. Weren’t there other dealerships at least within Michigan that had the part? That’s first. Furthermore, when I got home, my dashboard indicator still stated Oil Change Needed. My car should come home with EVERY INDICATOR CLEARED especially when I’m spending that kind of money. And again, forgive me for my ignorance, I cannot believe that you guys don’t clean out the car with just a simple once over for rinsing and dusting. That feels like it should just be automatic for every car that rolls through, especially for the charge. My windshield wipers also seem to not be working as well since bringing my vehicle back either. I could go on and on, but I plan to look for a local shop when future issues occur. I felt like I got way less for more money on a longer timeline. Sorry to be harsh. Have a good day everyone. Thx.

Dedrick Baur: Took my vehicle in to be diagnosed for a squealing sound coming from my vehicle and it took 2 days for them to reach out to me to say they didn’t know what the issue was and said they would reach out in a week. Tried to contact the service department multiple times with no response. Took my vehicle to another shop and it was diagnosed in 5 minutes and fixed the next day. Will not be bringing my vehicle here for service again.
Zachary Lech: The entire staff at Suburban is professional and well versed in their craft. Richie Wallace, the service advisor who helped me out went above and beyond and got me taken care of fast. Can not recommend a better dealership for VW services

After almost $2000 and four months, it still has issues with the battery drainage. Also if you break something, you should fix it, my trunk or the gas gauge do not work, all of that worked prior. Bad people, even worse business. Filing a claim as we speak.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE! take it to Ann Arbor or ANYWHERE ELSE. i went in for a simple 40k mile tune up and the next day my transmission stopped working 40 miles from home and i had to call a tow truck! so far they have not financially compensated me for my towing or refunded me any of the THOUSAND DOLLARS i spent at their shop this week (only to be left stranded at a gas station for from home). DO NOT GO TO VW OF TROY! if you value your life and $$$.

James Page: I found this dealership online and I’m so happy I did. After having my previous vehicle become a total loss after an accident I was so stressed about buying another car. However, Drew made my car buying experience a breeze. He was very understanding and took the time to make sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. I really appreciated his transparency about everything, and unlike other salesmen he was not trying to rush me into getting any car just to get a commission. In addition, he was very knowledgeable about the ins and outs of my new vehicle. The sales manager James is also amazing. He worked really hard to make sure I was able to get my new vehicle with the lowest rate possible. Lastly, Alex in finance was very helpful with completing the finance paperwork, and he made sure I was able to understand all the documents I was signing and answered all of my questions. This is the best dealership experience I’ve ever had. I recommend if you’re looking for a new VW to go to Suburban Troy as you won’t regret it.

After the treatment I had on the phone with the service writer yesterday, I would never even buy parts there again.I am completely disappointed and insulted by the way the service writer spoke to me, from the moment he returned my call. Rude, unprofessional, & insulting. I had planned to have my car towed there for “fairly common problem” but I am so turned off by the way that he spoke to me and the complete lack of professionalism. I am literally stunned. Gabriel Lyon: I'm all about efficiency, they notified me of the availability of the vehicle near closing time on a Tuesday, and I drove off in it early Wednesday AM. Smooth transaction, fair price, staff that have the process down. This included a 3rd party loan and trade it. Doesn't hurt that the vehicle is awesome.
Michael Barrs: Michael was thorough and explained everything. Shuttle ride was prompt. Van was clean. Driver always engaging. Subsequent communication was excellent. The video was well done and a reassuring way to document and explain activities to the customer.

She helped me and gave me the best advice ever. My parents were extremely happy and comfortable with me buying the car as opposed to all the other times. I.e staff was not rude when I noted my tires were directional for rotation as previously experienced.

Phil Hei (The Other German Phil): The process of buying a car seems unnecessary difficult and long.I wasn't able to place a order according to the manager of my sales responsible, so I had to buy a vehicle in stock. I paid in cash, still had to talk to an extremely pushy financing person for stupid insurances trying to add 50% to the sales price, actually twice, as a new software was introduced and they were not able to explain me the actual price I was supposed to pay on the first try (2 days later with the second finance guy it was suddenly 100 USD less).Still, an additional 4th person is yet to come to explain me the vehicle. I am used to have all this from one person, which fastens up the whole purchasing process.It just seems a huge hassle for me as a customer and for the sales person. I am not used to such complicated processes from Europe.
Chad Brautnick: The repair is great, however we've had parts on order the last couple of times in and we have never received a call or any notification that they arrived. We always have to call and ask. Last time they came in, we were never called, and they actually put them in stock instead of contacting us. If we coukd actually be notified when SOPs come in, that would be great.

They are pretty nice and fast but please do a better job ensuring everything is fixed before you send us on our way. I live an hour away and it's inconvenient. I've also gone there twice to change my tires but they didn't pull them from the warehouse so I had to reschedule. I hope my car is fixed without costing me extra money.

So I was expecting another bad experience of pushy sales people, price changing, being held hostage, and no post sale support.My experience could not have been more the opposite with Gino. Yaksh Kumar Sharma: I recently had a very disappointing experience with Volkswagen's service department in Windsor .I brought my car in for a rain sensors issue and was extremely dissatisfied with the service I received.I appreciate that they took my car to see the problem.But, After service they advised me that rain sensors are working in a good shape as before but in actual, rain sensors were giving me the same problem. I also told them after the service that the rain sensors are not working and giving me a particular problem every time but they just advised me that they checked it and everything is all right and have a nice day. Still rain sensors are faulty . They were not able to figure out what’s the problem was and told me there was no problem.Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the service I received from Volkswagen. The company prides itself on producing high-quality cars, but in my experience, the customer service left a lot to be desired. I would caution anyone considering purchasing a Volkswagen to do their research and consider the potential service issues they may encounter in the future.

Anna McMurdo: VW Windsor had our perfect car, a certified pre-owned Golf R in mint condition….BUT… we live in British Columbia! Enter sales associate Bojan Dzepina - WOW. He handled A-Z of the process and additional paperwork involved for an “out of province” sale with extreme professionalism, courtesy and efficiency. The VW Windsor team treated us like VIPs when we arrived at the dealership and really made us feel part of their family. In terms of safety inspection, CPO certification and regular service (appropriate for the age/kms of the car), Jason and Jeremy from the service team knocked it out of the park! This gave us immense confidence for our upcoming drive from Windsor back to British Columbia. The car performed perfectly and purred like a kitten (or maybe a small Lion 🦁) and still does. This is the best car-buying experience we have ever encountered thanks to the VW Windsor team. We were absolutely blown away. If you want to have the stars align (safety, customer service, professionalism, respect, price, knowledge, etc., etc) go see Bojan and his colleagues @VWwindsor! 5 stars ⭐️
MANJOT SINGH: The worst experience ever found in the volkswagen. I went for service the EPC light on dashboard which is for electrical . Instead of repair the particular issue of problem , the were saying your engine oil level was low upto 4 litres and i already filled the engine oil two days back by myself to the top level . My car was under power train warranty and still they just charged money for no reason . They found the issue of dripping the oil one drop in a week . How it possible the oil level down by 4 litres . Only the answer they have it’s volkswagen policy , can’t do anything .Thanks service department to not come again or recommend anyone .

Matt C: We had a recent experience with Volkswagen Windsor that left us feeling taken advantage of and disappointed in Volkswagen all together. We have a 2013 Jetta that began having intermittent starting issues and a burning smell, so we had the car towed to VW Windsor. Since it was there, we asked them to also inspect the AC that stopped working last year.We got a call the AC inspection and recharge was $260 and it didn’t fix the issue as a new compressor ($1,400) is needed and to fix the starting issue we needed a new starter for $727. My girlfriend is very dependant on her car for work, so we reluctantly gave them the ok to fix the starter but not the AC and went to pick up the car a few days later.Our first clue that this dealership was dishonest was when we went to pick up our car. There was an extra charge of $279.90 + HST added to the bill and after over an hour of trying to figure out what this was, they realized it was related to diagnosing the issue and it was accidentally doubled. They did waive the fee after an hour of arguing and we drive away thinking our issues are fixed.Within a week the car is having the same issues and we call VW Windsor to let them know that the $1,100 we paid them did nothing. We took our car in yet again, which after a couple days of inspections the answer was that they have no way of diagnosing because they couldn’t re-create the issue. They have a list of items it could be but it would be up to us to keep paying for each fix until they found the ultimate issue. The original $1,100 was completely lost because they thought they “fixed” the issue even though it continued. Their recommendation was starting with the ignition coil for $600 and going from there.At this point feeling like we’d been scammed while in a vulnerable and desperate position, we decided to take the car to another dealership. This non-VW dealership had a different standpoint, they actually spent time with the car to try to find the issue versus Volkswagens method of giving a list of expensive repairs to rip off one of their customers. This dealership found that the 9 year old car (with 180,000 kms) had THE ORIGINAL SPARK PLUGS. This meaning that while the car was continually serviced and inspected over these 9 years at VW Calgary, VW London and now VW Windsor, never were the spark plugs ever looked at. This non-VW dealership replaced the spark plugs for $160 and the car now works like new INCLUDING the air conditioning. This meaning that the $1,100 we spent was completely inaccurate, the $1,400 to fix the AC was a complete scam and the list of repairs they had to fix the starting issue were completely wrong. A simple $160 was the answer for everything!I have tried contacting the service manager Jason several times to explain the solution and have yet to hear back although I’m betting once seeing this review he will finally call back. I can say after this horrendous experience with a scary level of negligence and/or incompetence from VW mechanics and service staff we will not only never set foot at this location again but have us reconsidering ever being VW customers again.Update: Spoke with Ruth and got nowhere, their stance is that their mechanics are experts and the fact that we paid $1,100 to have nothing fixed from her dealership doesn’t bother her, nor does the fact that another non-VW dealership fixed the issue quickly and cheaply. We are still shocked at how we were treated and will never return after being taken advantage of like this.
