St. Julian Winery & Distillery Tasting Room: what do users think?
Danyale Mason: I enjoyed it. Good service but the staff appearance is not up to par. The do not appear well groomed.Visited on Weekend Wait time No wait Reservation recommended Not sure Price for adult entry Free …More
M M: One of our favorite places to go on a weeknight to unwind. The staff is wonderful and it’s always a great time tasting wines and browsing through their selection. There’s always a rotating set of cocktails using their wine and spirits.Visited on Weekday Wait time No wait Reservation recommended No Price for adult entry $11–15 …More
Ben Orr: We used to go to this place a couple of times a month and always had a perfect time. Now we almost never go except to pick up our wine. They've gone thru several managers, and yet still nothing gets actually managed. The service is terrible EVERY time. As several others have commented. Clearly despite responding to reviews on here about their poor service, they are not addressing the issue. It takes forever to get anything in this place, and the servers pick and choose who they decide to help. Some people get service, others don't. If you have an hour to wait for a glass of wine and the bill, have at it.
Brittany Price: Update: Went in a few days later and it was just a bad day on Saturday. Spoke with the manager and learned people called out and things were crazy. Coming in today things were great.I'm really disappointed in this location now. For transparency I used to work at this location before and maybe "I will have been to close to the situation" as I have heard before. When I worked there there was a strong emphasis on making sure everyone is greeted, even if it's just to say "welcome". I walked in with my parents today to enjoy time with them and enjoy the delicious wine. However, we sat there for 12 minutes were never greeted or acknowledged. However, a table that came in about 6 minutes after us and sat next to us were greeted and given menus within 2 minutes.
S Trouble: Starting to rethink our WC membership. Stopped in on Saturday walked out 15 minutes later after no acknowledgment that we were there, however a table who came in after us was dealt with, in a fashion.
Karen England: AJ is wonderful 👏Can't wait till Michigan governor opens up the restaurants and bars.I miss Ernest and AJ. 😭
Jerry White: Monica is majestic and mysterious. Her passion for customer service is unprecedented. Her confidence and radiant personality reflects through her proud and knowledgeable staff. I would recommend this experience to any and everyone.
Heather Lee-Deibler: I think the atmosphere would have been better served without the extreme bright lights. I felt like I was being interrogated, not enjoying a relaxing evening of wine tasting.
Jill Marie: Used to be a big fan of St Julian. After yesterday we won’t be giving them anymore business. We were going to sign up for the wine club, but we went to St Julian around 815 last night to pick up a few bottles. There was a sign on the door that said closing early due to weather. I looked in the establishment and there were three people working and about 10 people sitting at the bar. A guy with glasses mouthed to me “we are closed” as he’s serving people at the bar. He couldn’t have let me in to purchase a few bottles and I would’ve left after? Seems like they discriminate against who they want coming in. Won’t be back!!!
John Voymas: Very friendly and helpful staff. As a wine Club member a flight or full glass is free whenever we stop in. The Cream Sherry is a favorite of mine to sit and sip when relaxing at home.
KRISSY: I didn't have the best experience at this location, maybe it was just the day my friends and I went according to other reviews, because I've been to the St. Julian's in Frankenmuth and was much more pleased by service and atmosphere. At this location in Troy, we were greeted by children who gave us our menus. That's cute in a diner, but not a winery. We came to relax and be amongst other adults, hence the type of establishment...plus, it took about 40 minutes alone just to get our checks at the end (and it was very slow, not many other people there). Our waitress was nice, but we were not checked on at all and not sure if that had to do with the kids or what. Our drinks however, did come out mostly as we hoped on a nice serving board which I will provide a quick video. It was $10 for a flight of 6 wines, spirits, ciders etc. of your choosing (I believe they were 1 oz. pours). The reason I'm giving stars is because the facility was pretty clean. It was nice since it had the option for bar seating or little tables to sit at. Also, the waitress was nice to us regardless she had kids involved. Parking is a little odd due to the Mall's structure and ongoing construction, but I recommend parking in back-there is an entrance on both sides.
Raven Jayy: Recently visited here with a friend and our server was so sweet, it was her first day. However the assistant manager Bree did not great us very kindly. She was rude to her team and short with them as if them being new and asking for help was a bother. She never smiled. It made the atmosphere painful. We’ll come back, but hopefully she’ll be gone.
Mary Van Damme: Wine was great
deona thomas: Poor service and the associates were not aware of the policies when concerning group parties. We even had an encounter with the a family member who claimed to be related to the owners of the distillery good at first. But the fact that they let us walk out just let's me know all I need to about this establishment. Mind you this was our first encounter. Never again.
Renae Turner (IRO): Good atmosphere.
Natalie S: First time patrons. Great selection of wines, spirits, ciders etc. Snacks were of good quality. Staff was nice. The only negative was the ambiance. It lacked that cozy/ warm vibe of a winery/distillery. Bright white LED lighting made it feel cold, like an office or warehouse. Add a little lite jazz or lounge music plus warm lighting, and id give it 5 stars. Make it feel like an escape from the commercial/ industrial area that its in.
Tamikia J: I have been a loyal customer and been apart of the wine club for years prior this this location opening!! I have even been employed here part time when the location first opened so I know how it should be tanned. However the customer service has gone down tremendously. On multiple occasions I have came into the Troy location to pick up my orders and to have a tasting and have been told that I came to late to do a full tasting. HOW???? Each time I have came in been at least 45 mins until closing not with a group of people just me myself and I! I have expressed my concern with the manager and yet nothing have been addressed because it happened yet again. Why can I finish a tasting in 45 mins and why can't I be served? There was still group of people sitting and tasting. Not to mention health and safety is not enforce here. While waiting for my carry out since I can't have sit and taste. I noticed that there's not washing hands in between of serving clean glasses and clearing dirty used glasses. It takes 10-15 mins just be welcomed. Now I am second guessing my membership due to the lack of customer service, attentiveness and safety of customers. I am very disappointed on the direction the location has taken the St.Julian brand.
Andrea Nelson: I am a wine club member and LOVE going to this location! The staff is always so nice and make it a very pleasant experience. Great place to go with friends and the wine is too good to not leave with a bottle.. or 2! :)
Cre Wood: Excellent Service - Jamie and Asia were extremely helpful
Roberta Peek: Wonderful staff. My friend is part of the wine club. She gets a free wine tasting with 3 friends each month and a discount. It's fun getting together and tasting the new wines and ciders. They have liquor as well. But those wine slushy concoctions are delicious.
Lexee Brown: This has by far been my worst experience here. We sat at the bar and we were not greeted. Jamie came over after about 5-7 mins of walking past us and simply asked were we apart of the wine club. No smile, hello or introduction ( I overheard her name). Very unwelcoming to say the least. Our server who was a male continuously stopped our service just to chat with other patrons. He seemed very annoyed that I ask we receive our entire flight at once since we had to wait 10 mins for him to return after pouring our first tasting and we were not given or offered any water during our tasting. Maybe the staff was overwhelmed with how busy it was, but I will not be returning. There is another wine tasting room not to far from this location that offers better service. Also, another staff member wiped out a glass with a dirty drying towel. See picture.

NCDavMos: BYOF!They allow you to bring your own food. Need I say more?
Holly McGolly: This place used to be one of my favorites to go on a Sunday and chill and get the flight, but now they have changed their pricing, so the flight is no longer worth it unless you are buying a bottle. I don't know enough about wine to always order what I like, so it's harder for me to commit to ordering a glass, which is why I liked the flight so much.
Jason Piotrowski: Fun atmosphere especially when they have live music. So many wine choices all from pure Michigan!
Mark Thom: Went on a Friday night to listen to music while doing a wine tasting. Good wine. Good music
