Hedayet Khan: Okay so why 5 stars? Cause relative to all the other Chinese restaurants in Michigan, this place is the best. Every time I eat here, I feel like I'm back in NY getting Chinese carryout on a nice evening, and NY Chinese carryout is unmatched. They give a lot of food, utensils, sauce, and good service. I've been going better for so long, I even see the lady owner raising her kids over the years and making them do homework in the back. But yea the food is good here. Check out their combos.
David Wood: And my experience it's the best Chinese food in the city of Detroit. Great service.

Angel Scott: I love this little hidden gem on Livernois. The portions sizes are HUGE. The food is hot, fresh, and completely delicious. There's always plenty of leftovers for the next day which is perfect for my little family. Also, the service is so fast and friendly. I wish I could eat here everyday!

Sunny One: Food was ok. I'd go back again. Not at the top of my list of favorite Chinese restaurants though.
Lisa Michelle Barry: Hands down the best Chinese takeout we’ve had in Michigan. Everything we ordered was flavorful and abundant. The crab Rangoon was excellent, the wonton soup was seasoned perfectly and generous (3 large wontons in the small size) and the almond chicken and sweet and sour chicken were fresh, delicious and absolutely HUGE. It’s already been more than 2 meals for our family of three. I can’t believe it took us two years to try it out, we’ll absolutely be back!
roberta smith: I enjoy their service and selections
Candi Wallace: Convenience and clean ❤❤customer service is always pleasant!!
Sarah Cronin: The food is really bad. My kung po chicken was aweful. The food is so bland with no flavor, and strange non asia vegetables like cauliflower and other unknown stuff. They have the strangest cooking methods I've ever seen. First the ingredients are blanched in water, then broth? Then the entire thing is stir fried. The result is soft mushy vegetables, rubbery chicken with zero crispness or caramelization. This is second time I ordered a unique dish and same results. So strange if they just actually stir fried instead of boiling the ingredients it would be so much better. I can't recommend this place. It's a shame because the people are friendly and within walking distance of my home. Get a new cook and I wish you well.
Ur Mom: The value in the food is amazing and so is the service, the people are so nice and so is the food. 10/10 would recommend ✨💗

Schedule: Closed ⋅ Opens 4PM

Business type: Chinese restaurant

The Peterboro: what do users think?
Matthew Dante: My first time to The Peterboro in Detroit’s now defunct Chinatown. Take a walk to the bathroom and you’ll see a hallway decorated with some of Detroit’s Chinatown past. Great touch! I had the pork dumplings and the chow fun noodles with beef. They were both great dishes. The dumplings came with a yummy umami sauce and the beef in the chow fun was so tender. Sarah was our server and she was spot on. Very attentive and friendly. I can wait to try the other dishes and experience more fine service.
Jessica Ellem: Service was great, mocktails were delicious. Really liked the mushroom dumplings and the ambience was nice. Only knocking a star because the thing I ordered didn’t have a spicy indicator when it definitely was, and I thought it was a bit pricy for my dish considering most of it was bean sprouts. Would have liked more noodles.
Jake Daniels: With out warning we were approached by the owner and his security guard, we were told that we left the building for a moment with drinks, and that we had to leave, they through our drinks away very aggressively and gave us a bill, over charged us. We were with our wife’s so we didn’t make a big deal about it. Paid the bill and won’t go back!! The man came out of the kitchen wanting to fight or something🤣🤣 him and the guard wanting some wild energy, not cool bro…
Molli B. Dunbar: Love this place, the cheeseburger egg roll is my favorite and the happy hour specials are top notch.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Sabrina Brooks-Jordan: The food was amazing. This was my first time there on Mother's Day with my daughter.Kid-friendliness: Several kids were there.
Natasha Al-Rafie: We had to make a reservation and put down a $60 deposit to get the reservation. I’ve visited actual places in real cities and I have never had to do this. Anyway you get it back if you show up or cancel your reservation an hour or more before. The food was okay, they had the Detroit special Almond chicken, which was good but not great. Flavorful but not as textured as you want. We also got loads of dumplings. They were good, shrimp, pork, the shrimp were great but not so much the pork. I found them to be tasty but not worth the price. I also got Shrimp fried rice, which was bland but loaded with shrimp which was nice. They also had topo Chico, a nice liquor selection, and some beers. Overall it was a good enough experience but not a go to for sure.
J. Dubs: We were here to meet some friends for drinks and apps. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, and the decor is a nice tribute to the neighborhood of the past. I just wished the spring rolls I received weren't greasy, over fried, and too expensive.Food: 3/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Smriti Wadhwa: I went there with my friends and we were amazing by the vibe and the food here. I believe they have a limited menu now and the food is an experience in itself. The chicken dumplings were my favorite. I plan on coming here again with my friends and trying out the cocktails as well next time.
Marcella Salib: Empty crab rsgoons slow service
Luke Starkiller: Tasty fried rice. Nice atmosphere.
Marcy Swenson: Fantastic craft cocktails & Chinese comfort food. The Kale Salad with crispy noodles is a standout. Will be back!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
emily cardillo: Dined here tonight with some friends, the food was excellent and the service was even better. Such a fun experience, wish we lived closer but it’s worth the drive. The cocktails are outstanding. We ordered a bunch of different things for the table and everyone dined family style, I don’t think there was anything sub par. so glad to see a Detroit business come back even stronger after Covid.Kid-friendliness: We had kids with us and it was totally cool. They loved the decor and cool drink glassesParking: Parking is easy
Sai Sruthi Venkataramanan: Service was good. Nice staff. Food was bad. It used to be great before it closed down recently.Got the mushroom dumpling. Something in it was too sour. Beef chow fun made vegan - bland fake Chinese food. Like something a novice home cook whipped up In a rush. Please guys step up your game. The decor is great, it used to be a nice place. It's just bad now. Someone please fix it.Vegetarian options: Vegan options
Fatoumata Cissoko-Willis: A unique atmosphere full of vibrant colors, Asian inspired decore with an industrial modern feel. We enjoyed our appetizers and especially the main dishes! It was nice to share our orders among each other and get a greater dining g experience 🙂Parking: Lot next to the restaurantWheelchair accessibility: There are no elevations or stairs from street to the entry door. Wheelchair accessible for sure.
Kaylajoy Murawski: So sad we have to give them 1 star. We loved them prior to 2020 closure. Our kids would beg to come down. We came tonight to support reopening. We sadly were so incredibly disappointed. We had the Shishido peppers, and the pork dumplings. Both were bland. That’s not said lightly because we honestly were so excited to come down. My husband asked me Seldan or Peter. I said Peter all day…..( us women hate being wrong) lol not sure we’d be back for the food but the service was good & the drinks were made well.(We ended up at Seldan)
Orlando Dickson (FinaleNinja): Cheeseburger Rolls and Bao Bun Tacos. Perfection. Excellent service. Excellent atmosphere. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
Detroit Al: The food was absolutely great; especially the shrimp & scallop dumplings.Don't forget to have a drink.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Tim What: A fun place to get real good Chinese food and great craft cocktails.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Carey C: My husband and I made an unplanned stop at this bar while we were on a spontaneous bar crawl in the midtown area. It turns out that this place used to be China Town.I enjoyed the ambiance and the decoration of the place.Since I didn't know what to order, the bartender, Levi, asked me about my preferences and I mentioned that I like gin. He made me his preferred gin cocktail, which included grapefruit juice, honey, and was both refreshing and delicious. I particularly appreciated that he peeled the grapefruit rind fresh and rubbed it on the stem of my glass, which left a fresh grapefruit scent on my hand/fingers after finishing my drink. We also ordered the crispy eggplant appetizer, which was very tasty. The menu prices seemed reasonable, and they were lower than those of trendy bars where drinks cost around $12. Additionally, the most expensive dish on the menu was priced at $18.Usually, I avoid Chinese food because I have a sensitivity to MSG, and most restaurants that claim to not use it or remove it end up being dishonest. However, Levi assured me that they don't use MSG here, so my husband and I will definitely return to this place!
Yolanda Clay: Nice atmosphere. Very very limited menu, but the fried rice was good.Parking: Parking is on the side. You will miss it. But look out for Sign and they do have a security guard there.Recommended dishes Shrimp Fried Rice Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free parking lot …More
Kay M: Just a heads up the menu is different from before the new food wasn’t the best I miss the old Peterboro :(

Ibo Ware: Nice portions and fresh
Kelly Wilkins: Food was fresh and hot

adrienne jackson: Very nice service
Troy Cole: This was pretty bad. I ordered sesame chicken and a side of fried shrimp. The Wonton soup tasted like mop water and the meat inside the noodles tasted sour. The chicken was everything you hope Chinese isn’t. Very slimy and the taste was off. The spring rolls were burned.
John S.: Great local Chinese! Very friendly and everyone their is hardworking!
Rose Robinson: this was already a take out restaurant with good food i am so mad because your restaurant shouldn't have never closed you all are being lazy..you where already protected behind thick glass ..you never had contact with people..please open back up...we need something different in our neighborhood besides McDonald's
Isaac Montgomery: Foods good but the servings are so small. Go to China house on Livernois instead much bigger portion for what you pay

Abdulrahman Aqlan: Very junky and salty!
T Hayes: Staff and manager needs customer service training along with learning how to smile and greet someone when they come into the restaurant. The representation of this location is horrible. If you don't like your job QUIT....It's that simple!!
Blake Williams: To bad there not open at this time.
Tye: Favorite place to eat alway good customer service
EandLilE Mom: I miss the burban chicken. Please bring back
Steve Gluskin: The food was good but the girl cashier was very rude. She wasn’t pleasant when I cashed out but when I asked her for a refill on my water she was extremely rude. She should not be working there. If I was Panda Express I would not want her representing my brand. She cashierd at lunch on 11-18-19.
De Andre McGhee: The cooks here are terrible. The food here isn’t like any other location.
Richard Buboltz: Very good average Chinese food. Here's a suggestion: open both cash registers during the lunch rush.
Ibro Hrlovic: Love going here when im at the mall.
Shariat Mobasser: I dont like the fried rice, they dont cook it well. And chicken has skin in mushroom and chicken plate
Samuel John: Good food. Loved the chowmein, fried rice. The wok fried shrimps have an amazing flavour to it.
Ben S: Every time I've come here for dinner, they've been out of over half the entrees. I'd have to order from the remaining ones which were usually burnt, dried out, or generally gross. So I'm not at all surprised that hours after eating here, I became violently sick and started vomiting.Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
Pavan Kumar: I've been here many times, the service is very fast. Love the teriyaki chicken that they make, but they put more quantity of sides(rice/ chow mein) and less quantity of chicken (especially the teriyaki chicken)
Chris Allison: Best teryaki chicken ever
Sayem Ahmed: Gud
GolamT313: Fast service. Good portions. Runs out of food during lunch rush.

QWEEN: Shangri La has a great atmosphere, delicious food and great service. The interior is well decorated and I love the second floor balcony overlooking the bar. The restaurant has good sake and amazing sushi. The desert options are very unique. My favorite is the fried cheesecake roll. The dish is a delicious mixture of European and Oriental cuisine. The restaurant is located in the heart of Midtown Detroit near Wayne State University.
Justin Chuang: I can only speak for the Dim-sum but my god WAS IT DELICIOUS!!! My taste buds have high expectations as I'm originally from California and this hit the spot. Will def. come back again . One of the best dim sum's I've had !!!

Sofía Syntaxx: Shangri-La is such a cornerstone of my college experience core memory set that it is impossible for me to write about it with any sense of objectivity - you have been warned!I just love this restaurant. Great for solo dining, couples, and even the occasional group outing - although if you have a large party, it might be worth calling ahead to give them a heads up.Excellent drink selection and delicious dim sum.

Before we could fully finish our appetizers, the food was soon on the way right after. Very large portion size which we loved. My wife loved everything but I wasn’t too happy with the home made noodles and fact that I wasn’t given enough chicken but more vegetables than anything

FreeSpirit One: I've been going to this location since before Northland closed... food used to be good.. went in today and was deeply disappointed. This is the nastiest most bland food I've very tasted. Disgusting. You're better off cooking at home. I only eat here once every year and it's a waste of time. Jason Talley: The food looked horrible. It looks old or overcooked. The location on 12 mile and telegram is the better choiceFood: 1/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 3/5 …More
CeCe: Definitely will not be returning. The lady at the register & server, neither could understand English. The lady at register was talking fast so you couldn't understand her, she was dealing with money & food, wiping the counter with her hand, unsanitary. She would not allow us to taste the sesame chicken. No sampling! I do NOT recommend the butterfly shrimp. Now I know why the server looked at the other lady so funny. The shrimp, what shrimp, it was 98% breading. A complete rip off. Then my husband got chicken fried rice, I got vegetable fried, both were old, dry, no flavor. This is NOT the restuarant that was inside Northland. This food is horrible! A waste of money! We will NOT recommend or be returning.Didn't take pictures of husband food it's in trash.

Ashley Hodge: Okay quick serve option in oak park. If you have time I would order ahead from other nearby options, but for a quick service buffet style this Is my go too. My only problem is when I order two meat dish I do not like both My meats to touch so I usually ask if my sweet sour chicken nuggets be placed in the plastic bag that the egg rolls go in. One because I don't want my meat to get wet and soggy from the pepper steak and two I prefer my meats not to touch. Why is this a big deal? I find myself having to explain this every time. What is it costing the business to provide excellent customer service. For now on I will order just a one meat plate since this is such a big deal.
Amor Knox: You all Better careful and observant to watch u are eating I they are serving sautéed mice pay attention to your food and the smell
Teresa Day: Food was amazing. Portion for price is outstanding. Two of had enough food for both lunch and dinner. The bourbon chicken was our favorite! Visiting from Ohio and will surely come when I’m in Detroit again.
Teura Stigler: The Sesame Chicken sauce is delicious! I love the sweetness of it and the power greens are always fresh and tasty!Recommended dishes Veggie Fried Rice, Sesame Chicken Veg Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Rice & Two Meat Entrees …More
Ronald Ledford: Always nice and fresh!!
Sue Moss-Rogers: I’m only leaving one star because I had to!!! I can’t believe I’m seeing good reviews for this place!! Our food was greasy, bland, and even the egg rolls were gross. What a waste of time and money. And I don’t know if she’s the owner, but the woman we dealt with was extremely rude. Will never be back!!! And, I read another person’s comment about the owners taking the tips. I wouldn’t be surprised. I ran into this at another Chinese restaurant, and after writing in my review about how outraged I was about this, I guess this happens frequently.

China Wok: what do users think?
glamour0000girl: Honestly just ok. I won’t return because I always order shrimp fried rice and sesame seed chicken. I think it’s hard to mess that dish up as it’s quite popular. My fried rice was was bland. Terribly bland. My chicken had drizzles of sauce. For the price I expected it to be fair but this place didn’t meet my expectations and I won’t return. *Oh and no lunch specials. Not a deal breaker just expected them to have one.

Ronald Ballard: Okay place , will eat from there again.Food: 3/5|Service: 3/5|Atmosphere: 3/5Recommended dishes Sweet and Sour Chicken …More
Rosalind Ballard: Food was good and hot
melissa sordino: Specifically, Ordered WITH the green onions and almonds that it should come with yet restaurants are all omitting them to save money. With emphasis I might add. Now the food is good, I'm a cancer patient so had I knew that they were not going to look at the instructions because of lazy workers, I would have ordered something easier.... But I screwed up and ordered beef in my rice. Screwed them all up. Almond chicken I thought was a no brainer, and it is, but the instructions were difficult, charging me wasnt. So when I call (with photos in hand up close and clear) they tell me the beef they charged me WAS in my rice. Despite my photos. Ill let you decide.
Kwilla: Really cool peopleFood: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Maeva Chama Ketu: The place was clean. Staff calm and kind. Order was done fast. Price was a little higher than where I order but the quantity was similar.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Hatchet Mobile: Food is great. Portions excellent for the price. You walk in. The place is straight out the 80's. Definate hole in the wall spot. With their lunch specials and combos you will be satisfied! The General Tso' they have is a unique spice twist that tantalizes the tongue and is always crispy.. vs. alot of local spots I have tried. And note: The Szechwan Chicken and Chop Suey are great!
Lee Cayce: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Sesame Chicken, Sweet and Sour ChickenMore
Carter Davis: They use peanut oil even though it is not listed. One bite of egg roll and I had to use my Eli pen and be rushed to the hospital. Never again.
