Jennifer Lasco: My husband joined the Greater Flint Pilots Association several years ago and received his private pilots license thru one of the members who is an instructor. I watch him travel thru the amazing journey of learning to fly and now we enjoy flying as a family. We have the greatest respect for this Michigan flying club and will always help support it the best we can to ensure it is here for years to come.

mark hoornstra: This club consists of a group of pilots who do flying right. The planes are kept in hangers at a good airport. They are also well equipped and very well maintained. The members are very supportive of each other. I joined to learn how to fly. I received excellent instruction. I intend to remain a member because it is far more economical that owning my own. Having been flying now for a few years, I haven't seen anything that compares.

The instructors are friendly, knowledgable, and always happy to provide advice. The other members are also a great bunch of guys that share a love of aviation. T Denton: GFPA is an excellent organization! The not for profit club is dedicated to transparent operation and maintenance of the fleet. Every member treats the planes as their own because of fractional ownership. I learned to fly with instructors that are members themselves and not just here as a career stop. Flying out of Flint Bishop airport prepares you to fly anywhere and handle the radio with confidence. There is no greater sense of freedom than being able to go wherever you desire for a lunch across the state or a weekend at Mackinac Island. All of which is reachable in two hours or less. At GFPA you make friends and join an outfit dedicated to safe flying.
Michael Danic: Best place to learn to fly in the greater Flint area. Amazing flight instructors, superb facilities. GFPA was the best decision for flight school.
R Crossley: Great, well maintained airplanes at a far better cost than going to an FBO to rent. Used the instructors available through the the club to obtain my instrument rating at a lower cost than would have otherwise been possible. If you like to fly or want to learn to fly I highly recommend the Greater Flints Pilots Association!

Tom Hammond: I was a member and on the Board of Directors of the GFPA for 10 years. In my opinion, a flying club is the best and least expensive way to learn to fly and/or as an alternative to owning your own aircraft. GFPA members ARE owners - not renters. All of the aircraft are meticulously maintained and very well-equipped for both VFR and IFR operations.

Ethan Jenkinson: Provided amazing service even to myself in a 172. They were out there and ready when I arrived. Plenty of snacks and drinks. Let me use a crew car for three hours to check out the city entirely free of charge. Receptionist was very friendly and happy to give good recommendations for dinner. No charges or fees except for fuel. Treated like a large private jet pilot even in a tiny prop plane. Highly recommend visiting just for the experience!

jonathan Fleezanis: I received my pilot's license in 2004 and hadn't flow in nearly 20 years. I started flying with Jacob and have slowly gotten my knowledge back up to speed. Jacob is a great instructor and he is a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him to pilot's of all ages and skill level.

Matt S: Nice little airport. You can fly a few places direct but mostly you'll have to make a connection. Has a few small stores and places to grab a drink or a quick bite to eat. Security is also typically quick with short wait lines.

Jon Gittins: I enjoy flying out of Bishop International Airport. It's a smaller airport with quick check-in and friendly TSA. I don't fly out of here as much as I used to since the flight options are limited to Chicago (and onward) and many Florida/vacation destinations with Allegiant Airlines, though it's still a generally stress-free experience.
William Paige: 12 hours delayed. Still waiting to go. No explanation front Alegent Airlines. Terrible public relations. Sorry but this will be my last time flying with you. I Think you need to look in a mirror. You will see the Problem/ Management.

Phil Mastin: Love the convenience of a smaller airport, but beware! They don't tell you, at least not where I could see, that the American and United ticket counters close 45 minutes before the flight. Don't think you can show up later just because it's going to be less busy than Detroit! Make sure you're there at least an hour before your flight. I showed up about 42 minutes before my departure time and there was literally nobody to check my bag and nobody to help.FYI the FAQs on the airport website say the typical, generic, "arrive 2 hours before your flight" but don't say anything about the closing of the ticket counters. The airline websites didn't say it anywhere obvious either.I hope this is helpful, as I would have made sure I was a little earlier had I known there would be zero chance of making my flight by showing up less than 40 minutes early.
Melanie Sabin: This was our first time flying out of Flint. I was very impressed. The airport is clean and updated. We flew Allegiant and from the moment we entered, to boarding the plane we did not encounter one rude employee. This was over Spring Break so the lines were long. It would have been easy to get stressed but that was not the case. The tone was very pleasant. Everyone was smiling, helpful and kind. There were even Easter decorations around the Allegiant bag check area. We will definitely be returning here.

Hud S: Great place to fly and have fun! My dad and I go here all the time. The field is always mowed, and the people are friendly. Tony helped me fly my 1.5m wingspan Maule M7 and got me comfortable with it. They have great shows and events to go to like the father’s day air show and the big bird event. They have these every year and they are awesome to attend. Overall, the Aero R/C Club is a great community to be a part of!
