Harold: Every time we camp at walnut hills we rent canoes and kayaks from Cheffs. Been doing this almost every year for about 20 years. This year (last weekend) we had to reschedule our canoe trip at the last minute. Cheffs was very accommodating and made sure we got on the river. Just wanted to say thanks to the owner and staff.

D C: Had an awesome time! It is a beautiful, easy river to canoe. I have my own canoe, but it was great to relax and let someone handle all the loading/unloading/packing life vests, paddles and so on. Dan did a great job taking care of everything. He even offered waterproof cell phone bags for anyone who forgot to bring one. As for the bad reviews I read, I did not experience any of what they wrote. If you want a life jacket, that is a fashion statement and not a life saving device, I would recommend bringing your own. As for the trash, I did not see any. Nevertheless, that review was written for the July 4th weekend, so I am assuming there was a lot of people on the river, and the launch and pick-up sites are open to the public. And let’s face it, the trash would come from the canoers. Our only hiccup was another family in our time group was 40 minutes late. Not Cheff’s fault. Dan was very polite in asking the rest of us in the time slot if we could wait, which we all did without complaint. If you are looking for a nice country river to canoe or kayak, I would highly recommend Cheff’s Canoe Rental. I know I will be back with more family and friends.

Trash was piling up in the trash can and then garbage collecting elsewhere. I'm not begging for good customer service if your not needing the sales👍🤙😂

Only thing is it's easy to miss the entrance I suggest watch for the book store it's the driveway next to it.

AJ Random: Rented at the winery building downtown. Then realized it was a 20+ minute walk. Price was not bad. Wide slow river wrapped around the park. You share the view with padding paddleboat ferry and tour boats.

The only downside was at the very beginning around the first thousand feet and underneath the overpass there were a lot of rocks we got stuck on because it was shallow. Other then that it was a great experience. I was the only one that got shuttled up so there was literally no one around me.

The kayaks were in good condition and the entire process was easy! We had a really good time! It is a river that has very little current and requires you to paddle most the way. This was great with the kids as there's a lot of nature and scenery to look at.

We had 3 hours of constant paddling, so just keep that in mind!

Marina Mick: Well I give them one star for being a nice area. But the service is absolutely awful. I dealt with two very young girls running the shop. No manager around or couldn't speak to him. I had called 3 hours prior to make sure I could come BEFORE 4 OR AT FOR. And it was agreed on the phone I could and the girls said they wanted to leave for the day. The website says y'all close at 6. It's very inconsiderate to set something up and then drive all the way there . Probably won't be coming back. Thanks for the view I never saw. Maybe try again next year when there is different seasonal workers there 😂😂😂👍👍👍

Jacqueline Wubbena: After calling to confirm the times for kayaking my family drove over an hour to be told that they do not rent kayaks from 4-7pm. We arrived at 345. This policy should be started to potential clients. We are incredibly disappointed in the service and will never return.
