Flint Downtown Development Authority: what do users think?
D.R. W: I parked in front of the City Hall to pay my sons water bill. I put coins in meter 209 and it spit them back out forcing me to use my credit card. The meter accepted my card. One dollar is good for one hour. I was in City hall for 15 minutes and today 5/6 I receive a ticket from DDA stating that my time ran out. I clocked into the meter at 3:33 per my bank statement, and left City Hall with my water bill receipt time stamped at 3:46:36 PM. So how am I in default? DDA has an argument on their hands that I have all the proof for come Monday morning 5/8. I'm not paying the ticket either!! I have my proof!
Bret Lurvey: congratulations on being the most hated parking company in the country
Kyle D Lawrence: They have a horrible attitude, and have no respect for people who are out and about doing their daily activities. I was walking my dog at 6:37 in the morning and a guy was salting the city sidewalk. Instead of waiting for me to complete my atm transaction they felt the need to drive by spraying me and my small dog with salt. After he was done, he sat and did nothing, the same thing he could have done airing for me to complete my transaction. If you have a job, act like you enjoy it. A job is a privilege, not a right
John Doe: This organization should be ashamed and embarrassed of the job they do. Citations like "prohibited parking" and "fire lane" tickets for areas that are CLEARLY not marked. I have gotten tickets parked in the same legitimate parking area for three different offenses. Its like they roll a dice and pick the reason. Unbelievable.
Luella Gilroy: I recieved a parking ticket in the mail. Immediately paid it that day. Now sent me it again with additional 15 dollars attached. You need to get it together down there.
Donna The goddess: FIX YOUR WEBSITE
Nick Kedovary: I called the office to explain my issues with a meter pay station not accepting cards or coins. The woman I spoke with was extremely rude and tried over talking me when I was explaining what my issue was. She just kept repeating “yeah, you’ll be getting a ticket…” The new DDA Director should get her staff in line and check them.
Grace Perry: I went to Flint Flat Lot Day Fest and it was so fun!! I'm so happy the DDA hosts downtown events like this, will definitely go again:)
andrew booth: I’ve been working in downtown flint for at least the last 10 years. I’ve never had an issue with parking until this week. I received a parking citation for parking in Brush alley for longer that the “posted” 30mins. After looking up and down the alley I found zero signs that stated parking is for only 30mins. I then took time out of my day to go to the DDA office on church street. I was told the signage should be all over the alley stating no more than 30min parking. I explained there are zero signs and that I would gladly travel with them to the alley so they can point out the sign. The lady said she would take care of the ticket. I don’t understand how citations can be given if there is no signage. I also don’t understand why I can’t find any information online regarding parking in the alleys. When I click on the link the DDA has on their website about parking in downtown the page says it doesn’t exist. Clearly something needs to change with signage and parking. There are many contractors like myself who are working to beautify downtown Flint but are being ticketed for parking their work vehicles in places we have for many years without any issues. What gives?
Juliette Vanuum: So I received my second ticket for going down and supporting flint. I literally exceeded my grace period by 32 seconds and they will not erase the 25.00$ ticket FYI I will never go to downtown flint again.
Engineered Essentials: Tickets are not enforceable. This is a private company.Do not pay these tickets. If you notice, their website is not affiliated with a government agency. On the “ticket” the violation they list is simply a word like expired time. They do not cite the actual State of Michigan parking violation code.
Takeila Mcneal: I feel like it's taking advantage to people who work downtown. If I pay $5 to park and I want to leave the lot to go get lunch I have to pay another $5 just to be back lunch. I thought $5 a day meant the whole day.
Iris Arenas: I pulled over for a conference call and was sitting in my car and got a ticket. I noticed that I was too close to the street so I moved up to the next available spot so the buses don't hit me when they turn and I got a ticket. ENGINE RUNNING TOO!
Kara Kerri: Got a fine payed it. Here is my question to you guys. Why do you guys ticket so many people YET can't do anything to fix the city? However you guys may REALLY want to check out the loop holes of entrapment. Which was broken. When the driver was still in the car in that spot for less then 5 min 🙃. So we will gladly just not support flint any more.
thestrongeye: IM REPORTING A SCAM. I get lunch downtown every week. A few months ago I got a parking ticket. Thought okay and paid it. Since then I’ve been very cautious made SURE to pay for my parking every time. Just got a second parking ticket… Clearly this is a shakedown because this is a poor town. Just a warning to anyone visiting.
Nathan Chitwood: Well it’s unnerving when you get a ticket from a place you’ve never visited yet somehow they have enough information to send you a ticket and a basic description of your vehicle but no matching tag or picture information. It’s sad when state departments start trying to extort fellow states citizens for money. A sad day indeed. I guess Sandra and the rest of the Flint Downtown Development Authority can come extort the money themselves personally to help save Michigan. Good job Team. Maybe spend less time taking and more time building or restoring your town hell if you need a hand I’ll do what I can and take a trip to even help volunteer if ya need anything just stop scaring people out of there money please🙏 peace be with you.
john helcher: I have been a big proponent of the revitalization of downtown Flint. I have told many people of the wonderful things going on downtown. Not any more. Or at least, not as long as they rely on the automated parking system the have going on now. These automatic machines do not have the critical thinking skills of humans to determine if a parking ticket is appropriate. They just record your plate, and a ticket is on it's way. Of course, you have options to dispute the ticket. But that takes time and effort that shouldn't have to be expended. its easier just to stay away.Picture this.. it's pouring down rain.... you park... enter your info and pay like you'resupposed to.... go inside and take care of you business... you rush back to your vehicle (in the rain) within the time you've paid for... not expired....you get in your vehicle and while in your in your vehicle you finish up some of the business you were taking care of... you be a responsible person and send of a few texts BEFORE you drive away so you aren't texting and drving... and you pull away a few minutes later thinking everything is all and well. Then... about a week later you receive a ticket in the mail for $25 ticket stating you were a little over 2 minutes expired... and of course there's a conveniently cropped picture of your vehicle that shows your plate.; but not the fact that you're sitting in the driver's seat.I'd rather stay away from downtown than deal with these machines. And I'll warn as many people to stay away I previously urged to check out the new downtown. Probably more.
