She's a great no non sense judge, and can see though people's lives and deceitfulness. Thank you Judge Barkey for being a honest and great person.

Bink Bink: Brought my case here because my child who is in highschool no longer feels safe with her father. Brought up everything I could think of and they still are forcing her to go back with someone she describes as a monster. No wonder why bad things happen to children under the justice system. Shame on them for not trying to do more.

Not Sure: Don’t know what your talking about. The most respectable judge I met to date. You don’t need to hate on a judge that’s doing their job correctly and to the law, you must be the criminal in such a case.

Nichole Braun: Went here and one of the Deputies/sheriff's who was a female that was at the medal detector I could just by looking at her she was mean, so my mom is diabetic and didn't have any suringes but had just only her machine to be able to check her sugar if she needed too. So my mom put her purse in at the other end for the deputies/sheriff's can see what's in your purse and so happen that this sheriff did a search through my mom's purse which is fine but then she spotted my momsmomsm machine and told my mom to take it back outside and of course my mom said something as there were other people in there watching and hearing that what was being said in a polite calm matter that she needed her machine and the deputy said well it looks like that machine has not been used for a while holding up the line so then in the mean time I am asthmatic waiting to get to my Inhaler, so I said I need my Inhaler and had to wait til this lady Deputy decided it was ok for my mom's diabetic machine to go through. This situation made me feel very disturbed and not happy that I could clearly see this deputy was rude and disrespectful!!

My phone call was transferred to 3 different departments, then only given a option to "leave a message" 2 days later recieved a call saying, "let me transfer you". A week later, I'm still looking for an answer to a simple question and still being transferred to different departments!!!!

Says it takes months maybe to apply. So who gets interest and the money until? FOC is make mom's single. They benefit more this way. No penalty for having 3 or 4 baby daddy's. Go fund your little program since you take like 20 percent for yourself.

Robert Battani: They literally dont include the fathers opinion and only ask mothers opinion when it comes to their children. IllegalThey do not follow michigan child support guidelines for fathers, only mothers. They do not know what is in their own friend of the court handbook. You show them and they just ignore you. Outstanding people really. Its illegal what you do.They follow law differently for mothers than fathers and only apply Certain aspects of law to benefit the mother that go against the father. IllegalThe discrimination I have faced by those within the FOC and Genesee county court system is unbelievable and a shock that this still goes on. These people need to be held responsible.Whats funny is the court system (judge, lawyers, friend of the court) allow all of this activity to go on for a year and a half. They rack up thousands of dollars together. They create issues and unnecessary court time by working together in a sense. Sounds like “Racketeering.”Then they unfairly overcharge one parent for child support. No matter what the law says or the circumstances are. They just do whatever they want. They call it child support. Really we all know what they call child support all goes towards paying for his attorney bills accumulated over the last year and a half.Child support is more like attorney support. The next three years of child support really all go towards the attorney fees racked up. Why would the other client care what the cost is and how long the case gets dragged on for. I basically pay for both attorneys and they call it child support. The children do not benefit from the money scammed away from them. What a system. Joke. Scam families and children one at a time so they can drive around in their Cadillacs.Who am I. Just another family, father, and child scammed by these people.

I’ve called a case worker three times on three different days and haven’t received a callback. But you got time to respond to google reviews, OK! I shouldn't have to reach out to your supervisor for assistance! I understand you have over 40,000 cases, but what does that have to do with me? You applied for the job and not me. As a parent, you shouldn’t feel helpless, especially if you're coming and seeking help. How does a person go to court constantly, and a judge/referee's order doesn’t mean anything, and you say there are consequences, but you never follow through with them.. What a waste of time and money. You spend thousand of dollars, and seven years later, you still don’t get a resolution.And let me mention that they sent me a letter telling me I had to write them a letter requesting a cost of living increase for child support. But didn't you get the cost of living increase on your wages, and did you have to submit a letter asking for that? I'm sure you didn't. It looks like you're sending people thru hoops, and you're making more work for yourselves.Also, if the judge awarded me four years ago $564 a month, why am I only receiving $200 to $300 a month? Explain that, please!!Lastly, I don't need a response on this review I just need you to do your job, act like you like your job, and do right by these kids!Wow, you responded to an internet review in twelve minutes but I can't a return phone call and I started calling on March 3? More work you telling me I gotta do to get some help.

Diana Segura: I always have a very orderly, and a well communicated experience with Friend Of The Court (Genesee County). My questions are always answered and I receive as much help as I need, when I call for assistance with my case.

Zach: For a year they over payed themselves from my paycheck for child support and gave it to my ex wife. Then when I caught it and asked for my money back they said no... because they had already given it away. So I asked if it counted towards my future payments, also no, "because the court order says you have to pay every month." Everyone that works there is salty and soulless.

Amy Gatewood: It's flip coin to see who wins.. very rare doesn't ever have anything to do with what's best for the child or children..I have a case of Oakland County as well... they truly look at what's going on and do what's best for the child or children.If you can get a mediator outside of the court that helps communication between you and the other parent to help make good decision together for what's best for the child or children sometimes can be remarkable.. I received in January 2020 $14 for 2 kids. My first and last payment ever. My daughter will 5 in December. So, $7 per kid in 5 years. Smdh What a joke

Valencia Suggs: Update: After calling the Friend of the Court on several occasions to inquire about the overpayment of my funds from the sale of the marital property, they give me the run around for weeks on top of sending my money to US Reliacard, deliberately or stupidly, but I say deliberate because they are well aware of my address, they send my card to the marital property that I no longer own after, as I stated, employees at the FOC deliberately misinformed them of my address. Now this company tells me that issuing MY MONEY to me in the form of a check is not an option. So after all the other crimes you have committed against me, you send my money to a third party so that they could attempt to charge me fees for the use of their card instead of having the decency and common courtesy of sending my money back to me the way it was sent to you. One of my worst pet peeves is having to go behind grown adults that act as if they are incompetent or who are just so miserable in their lives that they attempt to use there status and positions to try to wreak havoc in others lives. Then this representative from US Reliacard is trying to tell me that I need to fax a copy of my driver’s license and a utility bill or other verification of my correct address and starts adding stupid sh*t like make sure you enhance it so many times, so many shades dark and probably, before I shut her down, tell me the type and size of the font. I see why people say SMMFH.Initial response: I would have rated zero if allowed. After going through a very contentious divorce where I was forced to sell my home prior to being forced into foreclosure through a crooked court system with a horrendous child support order I was finally granted physical custody of my children almost three years later but this was a facade so that the attorney representing my ex-husband could walk away with the proceeds from the sale of the marital property. (This, after being thrown in jail and paying multiple attorneys who were all to willing to take my money and do absolutely nothing). A stipulated order was agreed upon that no child support would be paid. Makes since due to my having full custody. I even drafted a letter and took it to the Department of Human Services stating that I and my ex agreed not to utilize any state benefits for our children way back in December of 2018. I then get a phone call from a Shellie Taylor stating that she is doing a modification. I told her about the stipulated order and she insisted that my children were still receiving assistance. I found out that DHS never closed the case. Since when do they leave any benefits lingering? So I went down to request a hearing and got a letter stating the case was closed which I took to the F.O.C., and had them stamp it because I just do what God tells me to do. Then Ms. Taylor calls back again today with the same script and we go back and forth again. She then tells me that it’s a process, basically stating that I will have to jump through hoops while they try to rob me of more money. I asked for her Supervisor, Kim Poissant, who does not even return calls, after she tells me I need a stipulated order. I told her that there was one in place and that this is redundant. As an African-American woman and someone who has been in customer service for years her lack of empathy to a problem that she is contributing to is despicable. They need to do a thorough investigation of Genesee County but evil has high reaches and they all benefit in some way. I have been harassed by this system for over three years and they have the nerve to try to act like I didn’t do what was expedient. But I keep meticulous documentation. I see why my grandmother used to say, Sheol enlarges itself everyday. The crookery is real.

Scott Ross: The phone number is a joke. All it does is give automated messages. You used to be able to call it and actually get ahold of a person. Now, if I want to reach someone I either have to use an email, snail mail or different phone number to contact someone here. Out the option to reach an operator back in! Not everyone needs to hear things via a automated message nor is the most informative item around!

roshaunda amos: I have been trying for over 5 years to get a modification to my case. There have been numerous written requests sent in. There have been numerous phone calls made. Every time I have been told they don't know what happened to it. In 16 years I have not been granted a modification. My children's father has. When he was unemployed they lowered his support order. However, for the last 6 years that he has been VERY GAINFULLY employed they have not once accepted or responded to my written requests. $114 a month for two children? I bust my butt working to provide basic necessities for my children. I expect the same from their father. Is that too much to ask?!

John Bartholomew: Judges unfair in front of Judge try to State my case judge already have their minds made of decide to take to trial guardianship of my daughter Court made a ruling just the other day a ruling that had no acknowledge of because nobody from the courthouse sent me a letter stating that I'm supposed to show up to court on a certain day and certain time it's funny how courts can make their minds up but not give you proper direction let alone let you know when you have to go to court

Patty Ostrander-Karrick: These guardianships are made to keep families prisoners with there loved ones at the mercy of the courts. My mom's a ward 14 years and exploited every year. Financially and I pay for her extras like food supplements.No one investigates an attorney guardian--they write reports and change the narrative and have allowed all inventories never looking at the exspenses .an attorney files.,allowing the continued exploitation and neglect. Sadly over the last 14 yrs never reviewed her Bank statements.The systems broken.

Liz Ostrom: I have had to take guardianship of 2 of my grandchildren. Judge Barkey is thorough and fair. If you don't like her it's probably on you.The staff in the office were also very helpful and patient with me and all of my questions.Of course they are understaffed and busy at the time I wrote this, Covid still has everything a bit messed up. But keep trying if you must call, or their answering machine let me know they now have office hours again.

WE BE Chillin: They don't answer the phone morning noon or night. I've got a court date coming up and I was told the zoom instructions would be in the paperwork but its not. Been calling for 2 weeks this stuff is getting old.

Roger Johnsen: First of all, I have little / no legal experience and was so THANKFUL for the help provided by the staff while navigating the guardianship process. It was a daunting task and very high stakes getting a family member the help they desperately needed. Everyone was patient and helpful throughout the process and, while I intend to write a formal letter highlighting in more detail, felt compelled to share my personal experience online.

T Lee: Judge Barkey is compassionate and truly cares about what is best for CHILDREN. All too often parents think that just because they created children that gives them the right to have custody. This is not always the case. Abusive, neglectful parents who dont do enough to improve themselves for the sake of their children don't deserve to raise them. Thankfully Judge Barkey gets it! She looks out for the kids and that's what judges are supposed to do!

Christina Harrison: Judge Barkey is completely ignorant dose not look at paperwork or proof is only concerned with her opinion. Ignoring the fact that children are being kept from there parent as a way to say haha showing her proof of this was no concern of hers. In a trial you are allowed to defend yourself not in judge Barkeys court she asked me one question and as I was answering she cut me off and kept cutting me off then gave her judgment. As I sat in the court room waiving stacks of paperwork and messages she and proof of my efforts she wouldn't even look at them. Judge barkey has several issues and is no longer allowed to be involved in cases concerning in laws because of her bias opinion and her own personal issues one can only assume why she is this way. How many other lives has she ruined of parents, children, grandparents and the mentally I'll. Disbarment for judge Barkey should be required by the state for her incompetence.
