Blue Hawaiian Pools of Michigan: what do users think?
ernie strong: Critical:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueOver sold under delivered!!! Never cleaned up after them selfs left everything a mess. No communication, poor craftsmanship, and messy. Salesman sold me something they delivered something different 😡🤬Services:Swimming pool automation and controls repair,Inground pool installation,Swimming pool general plumbing repairs
Erin New: Critical:QualityConcrete looks awful, and his team made a giant mess during the install. Jerry was super rude once he had his money. Awful experience.Services:Inground pool installation,Fiberglass swimming pool construction
Louise Strobehn: Would not recommend to anyone. We ended up having to pay another company $10,000 to complete our pool after we had payed them $170,000 for our pool instillation. Should have known when the project started with them bringing the wrong pool. Would not return calls, project manager didn’t want to review our complaints, seemed non informed on how to install certain features. Informed them for weeks that our pool had been completed but they never contacted the township for permit check and now it has expired. They are great till they take your money and then it’s all down hill!Services:General construction,Swimming pool water feature construction
Gregory Fricker: This is what was left when the pool company was “finished”. I’ve pulled out two giant yard waste bins full of leaves and worker trash from the pool being left open unprotected all winter. The concrete is crumbling at the edges. Calls are rarely answered and more rarely returned. I spent $112,000 on this pool. this is what over $100k buys you. If you want to drop over $100k to have photos like these of your own, go with Blue Hawaiian. The pool ground breaking was supposed to happen in the spring. The worker begged for us to move up to August because someone cancelled and they would lose money. I was assured there would be no problems and that this was the exact model pool we were looking for. They missed the ground breaking time by three months and began after snow had already fallen. My front yard still sprays pea gravel when I mow after it was dumped in my front yard and never cleaned up.
Jonathan Sher: Let me start with “owning a pool is tough”. The only reason that it’s not a five star review is that we’re still working on fixing the kinks. I’m very glad that Jerry hasn’t given up on me and is helping me work through the issues I come across. It’s a beautiful pool the pool ownership is not for the meek lol. I expect to be updating this week to 5 stars.Services:Pump repairs installation,Inground pool installation,Fiberglass swimming pool construction
Tamara Douglas: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,Value
Matthew New: Jerry was only concerned with getting our money.Outstanding issues:Final inspection never completed with Lyon Township. Confirmed by calling Township.2019 update - After we called Blue Hawaiian 3 times about this, they finally came out and we received final inspection only after they fixed the electrical wire hanging out of the cement (see below)Electrical wire hanging out of cement, not tied to anything.2019 update - This was fixed after a failed inspection.Electrical access outlet installed without our consent/approval/permission after pool installers cut through the wires.Major concrete workmanship issues (detailed below)Major concrete workmanship issues:Concrete was poured on 8/1/2018, after, originally being canceled due to the rain in the forecast. The cement trucks started at 1:34PM. At approximately 3:30pm, we received over 1" of rain. The cement was not covered during the rain. The crew of the concrete company mentioned to me many times that they were concerned about the rain.Boot prints visible all over the concrete, as shown in the images below.Water runs and pools towards our house, not away from our house, as shown in the images below. There are metal wires around the rim of the pool in the concrete that can easily injure someone, as shown in the images below. The cement covers the white trim, as shown in the images below. The cement that was poured DURING the rain is very sloppy, and, did not set like the rest. Many examples are shown in the images below.Cement was splashed on our house, air conditioner, and doorwall. This was never cleaned. Examples are shown in the images below.
Brooke Pitt: HORRIBLE!!!!!  Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from Blue Hawaiian Pools of Michigan!!   Aka Blue Hawaiian Pools aka Professional Choice Pools.  Shady!  I'd be happy to share my experience with anyone that needs more info and is trying to make a decision on a contractor!  Slide was installed improperly and was coming apart when my daughter was using it.  They told me 7 of 8 bolts was good enough.  Liner separating from coping.  Leaking pipes.  Flaps in liner from being mis measured, totally unacceptable.  Rocks under liner, holes in concrete under liner.  Promised 2 truck loads of water, told to use my hose after delivering only one truck load.  Messed up neighbors lawn and landscaping.  The list goes on. Jerry Kukla and his crew have been beyond frustrating to deal with.  I have wasted countless hours trying to get this guy to do the right thing and give me the pool I paid for. Liner was jacked on installation last year, due to being mis measured.  I've been promised a new liner since then and have gotten the run around.  This year, Jerry the owner, has not returned any texts, emails or phone calls.  I have spoken to him once, when I blocked my number, and he said he was going to have Brian Follis, from Latham pool come out to measure.  Nothing.  Last year he told me the liner was ordered and being sent to my house, then he said he had to measure the liner, then Latham had to measure the liner.  Just a whole lot of BS and nothing getting done.  Sad to get such a runaround when you spend so much money with a company.  I would hate to see anyone else have to go through what I have gone through and am currently going through, A YEAR LATER!  I would agree 100 % with the other negative reviewers, as I have experienced nearly the same treatment.  Jerry Kukla and his cohorts should be ashamed!*******update 9/24/20 because Jerry contacted me on 9/21/20 to let me know he will not fix my liner unless I take reviews down!  What?!?  Because I write an honest review about how his company does business he will not fix my liner as it should be.  I offered to amend my reviews should he follow through this time and fix it and he said that is not how he does business.  What a joke.  If you like the run around, this is the company for you.  If not, I suggest you look elsewhere.******update 9/15/21 crappy pool construction cost me money when selling my home! Realtor called Jerry personally to see if he would come and fix liner that he admitted was jacked up and his fault, he told her no in so many words. Needless to say, realtor was less than impressed with Jerry and would not recommend him to anyone ever. I still stand by my review and urge anyone looking to spend life savings on a pool, GO ELSEWHERE!!!!! I will be putting a pool in my new home and guess who I will NOT BE CALLING???????Service:General construction
Mark Olex: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueExcellent company. Great service, professional, knowledgeable and polite crews. Cares about us as the customer, answered every phone call and text. Great quality. Worked with our landscaper to install the pool exactly as planned. Highly recommend this company, made a large project as smooth as possible. Garry is awesomeService:General construction
Nicole Cassani: Critical:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueI had a pool installed by Blue Hawaiian Pools of Michigan and would not recommend their services. Poor service, poor workmanship and unresponsive. A pool is a big investment- do your research and find another company. I wish I would have.Service:General construction
Erin Griffith: Service:General construction
Paul Douglas: If you want your construction project documented, on time, and done completely right, we recommend Blue Hawaiian Pools of Michigan. JR and Garry are great to work with. The whole process of pool building is exciting and cool to watch. They do everything promised in a timely manner. The quality and professionalism is exceptional. We would recommend them to anyone interested in a new inground pool.Service:General construction
Home Owner: Thank you Jerry for the hard work and great teamwork. It is obvious that the crew at Blue Hawaiian have been instructed well and know what they are doing. Initial pool installation in a short amount of time, then the mechanical, concrete, electrical, fencing, and pool school came shortly after. Thrilled to work with Jerry and his crew. Highly recommendedService:General construction
Mr. Douglas: Positive:Professionalism,ResponsivenessWorking with everyone at Blue Hawaiian has been amazing! Jerry truly loves his work and does everything possible to make paradise in a backyard! Amazing the best in Michigan hands down.Service:General construction
corey lougheed: Blue Hawaiian Pools by far is the best pool installation company in Michigan. We just had a pool installed and completed this past week. From the very beginning when my wife and I first met Jerry he was quick to return my phone call, setting up meeting date/times and once I presented/outlined our rough plans of what we wanted he took it to another level of creativity. We are absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the results!!!Jerry laid out the timeline and reminded us to be patient and feel free to reach out to him if we had questions throughout the process. It was welcoming the relationship we formed with Jerry and his team. The Blue Hawaiian team were very respectful to my property, wife and kids. We shared some good laughs to enjoy the process from beginning to end. My hat goes off to Jerry's team as they worked to the highest level of my expectations. Do not look any further than Blue Hawaiian Pools of Michigan. Remember that paying for quality should be your first thought and Jerry will deliver to your expectations with out a doubt. Thank you Jerry and the Blue Hawaiian team for the memories we will create at our AMAZING backyard resort!!!!!!! Corey & Sarah Lougheed
Maria Kimball: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueKnowledgeable and kind a courteous... very friendly and professional
Geri Kortas: They didn't install a pool. However tried reaching them several times no one will return your call. No this is not a fake review I called several times and left several messages and no one called back. Address it legally go ahead it's a free country and it's the truth. By your response and obvious costumer service skills I guess I am glad you never returned a call. Also talk about a fake review isn't that you Jerry Kukula review yourself
Matt Dokman: Jerry is a true professional. His projects are amazing and truly top of the line in the automation industry with his use of Omni Logic. If your looking for the true backyard experience and a builder who takes on your project as if it’s his own, you’ve found the right company.
Megan Hoyle-Keenan: Jerry came out and we had a great consultation with him. We were very excited to move forward. We needed to complete a few things to get the area prepped and we got them done within a week (removing a tree and moving a power line). We called and text multiple times with no response. He did answer his phone one time and said he would call back later that afternoon, but never did. We're disappointed. Seemed like a great guy, but perhaps too much on his plate. We're now moving forward with a competitor.
Kevin: Never called me back
Alisa Chapple: Our pool turned out amazing! Jerry saw our vision and made it happen! It is such a relaxing and gorgeous whole outdoor space!

Your Pool Guy: what do users think?
Sarena Hare: I'm very surprised to see all these 5 star reviews because we had a horrible experience with these people. My husband and I are 1st time pool owners, we know nothing about pools. We bought a pump motor on our own and needed it installed. We called them just for install, they gave us an estimate of $180. Set a time and day for them to come then they didn't show up. Instead they came when they felt like it. When they finally came they picked up our new pump AND our old one and took it to their shop, (which I didn't understand why they did that) they kept it for about a week, installed a new impeller on it without our knowledge or consent. Came back to the house to install the pump and one of their guys busted a water pipe in the process. They fixed it of course. Finally when the job was all finished 2 weeks later, I get a bill charging me for a new pump (that we already bought on our own) the pipe that they busted, an impeller that I didn't give consent for AND a $25 O ring! They of course removed the charges for the pump, but everything else i had to pay for. Horrible, horrible customer service! I will NEVER deal with them again! I feel we were ripped off and they tried to take advantage of us because we knew nothing about pools!
Elisha Trpcevski: I cant even begin to describe how much we appreciate dealing with this company. We have been in a pool construction nightmare for the last 15 months and getting no where with the current pool people. We called Your Pool Guy and they have been so helpful and knowledgeable that we finally feel a sense of peace that our issues will be resolved. They came to investigate all of the complications and advised what needed to be done in order to have a functioning pool. Do yourselves a favor, if you are in need of a pool speak with these pros first!!!!!
michelle dewilde: They didnt do any work but told me what to try first... appreciate the advice and honesty
Cheryl Walter: Positive:ResponsivenessWe got a new liner installed last July 2020, they did a wonderful job and it looks as great as it did the day they installed it! They know what they are doing. They were very knowledgeable about pools. Now if I could get water to fill it!!
Tracey Wagner: Positive:Professionalism,Quality
Terry Randall: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueVery professional and excellent service. Could not ask for more. I would highly recommend this service. They have all the answers and experience.

Affordable Pool and Spa, Inc.: what do users think?
Cory Short: Had a bit of an issue to begin with, but they made sure to come back out and make sure my hottub was running properly.
windyfields: This is a 5 star rating for AFFORDABLE POOL & SPAS but I need to give the nightmare that preceded finding them. Anyone who has owned a HOTTUB in the last few years understand how frustrating it is to have purchased poor quality products and experience shoddy customer service. In early October our HOTTUB had a leak and we were told by the company we purchased our tub from that they could come in 7 weeks and to keep filling it up daily so the pipes wouldn’t burst and freeze once the temperatures dropped. By the way that info wasn’t offered , I had to ask what to do in the meantime. Another company said they could winterize it around the same time. I asked about the leak , leaking out the winterizing solution. They couldn’t guarantee it would stay in the pipes because of not knowing where the leak is but couldn’t fix the leak until the spring. After 5 weeks of pure stress and upset where my husband wanted to blow my HOTTUB up he stumbled upon AFFORDABLE POOL AND SPAS. I spoke to their office person Julie who immediately put me at ease with her calm and caring voice. She was able to get me on their roster the following week. Even their phone message suggests keeping a heater plugged on in the inside engine compartment to ensure pipes don’t freeze. That would have been nice to know 7 weeks ago! Maintenance techs Austin R. & Justin E. worked their magic in the dark freezing cold wind and snow. They were like a surgical team with a whole menagerie of gear prepared for whatever the issue was going to be . 2 plus hours later they had the problem fixed and were at my door explaining what they had done. WOW! Talk about professional. I know one thing for sure . I won’t be calling anyone else but Affordable Pool and Spas the next time I have an issue . Thank you!! P.S. It’s so easy for people to complain about a problem but when you have a positive experience, even a little one, tell the business you are dealing with. It’s goes a long way to keep morale up and let them know what they are doing right.
Paul Phillips: Had a different company come out to close and clogged up skimmer line with pine needles etc so I’m a 20 year remodeler and thought I knew it all so how hard could it be to blow out lines myself? After 5 days, 3 different drain kings, 2 compressors, a 50 ft snake, a vacuum and a leaf blower, I was pretty frustrated that this clog wouldnt move-The water would move from skimmer to pump but not from pump to skimmer- it would come back at me using a drain king-Now cold snap is coming in 2 days and I dont have a choice now, but EVERYONE booked solid- uh oh…cracked lines in my future etcCalled Affordable and Julie bent over backwards to help me- they went so far as to have a guy (Jason) come out on his day off- they sent me the price which, initially I thought was a little high (ended up being best money I ever spent) Jason came out when he said he would- had to cut off the 90* elbow at pump, BECAUSE THERE WAS A BACKFLOW VALVE THERE, which was why I couldnt get at the clog in the first place- 5 days and about $600 wasted on tools, materials, rentals- Jason was very professional, listened to me whine for 2 hours, explained the entire procedure and what to do in the future not to mention some great tips-In the end, he repaired the clog, fixed the pipes, Winterized the pool properly, installed huge pool cover etc etc all on his day off…- I got the final invoice and it was $100 less than previously stated and all I could think was how much I appreciated a job well doneThanks, Julie and Jason!I will be contacting them next week for Spa Services…
Robert Neal: Get your pool needs
Joyce O: The company that installed our inground pool last year kept giving us the run around this year about servicing some ongoing issues so we called Affordable Pools. Customer service at the office level was great & even though they said it would take a few weeks for them to come out ,because it was the beginning of the season, we agreed to wait since we couldn't even get a call back from other places. We knew we had to have someone that was a Hayward dealer for warranty reasons. A couple days before they called & gave us a time window for their arrival & then on that day I rcvd a text letting me know they were on their way. From the second he arrived Austin & his coworker (sorry I didn't catch his name) were friendly, professional & beyond helpful! They blew us away with their knowledge & willingness to help. Austin discovered that the original company hadn't programmed the system right to begin with!!! 😳 He fixed every single one of our issues (there were quite a few) in about an hour. We most definitely have found our new pool company & will highly recommend them!!!
Mike Spicer: Would never recommend this business under any circumstances. Long story short, Called them for pool heater repair. They charged $185 for the tech to spend 15 minutes on the phone with Hayward tech support, then they spent another 15 minutes in my driveway waiting on the manager to call tech back with permission to install the part I had already purchased for the job...Oh yeah, I can call tech support too! Needless to say, my heater did not get fixed. But hey, got charged for the service call AND diagnostic work.
Jeri Mayer: Horrible business, shame on you.
Sean Hopkins: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueI went to 3 different pool and spa suppliers before I ended up at Affordable. Ed was immediately attentive to what I was looking for. I ended up ordering a hot tub cover from him. He came outside and measured my old hot tub cover and made sure that the dimensions were perfect. They have a customer for life.
andre walker: I paid higher rate than others because I thought I was getting a professional job and end up getting a non professional job. Holes drilled into my concrete uneven not one side out of 4 sides are even as if they just drilled each hole a different measurement now after a 550 dollar installation charge I have to hire another company to reinstall and seal off concrete holes that are off measurements. What a affordable pool and spa my advice would be do not install a pool cover or you will end up covering a messed up job!August 28 2021Very Disappointed
Tony Engle: We had a problem with the leveling of our new pool. The Pool Guys came out within 2 business days and faced a MONSTER STORM!! They continued to work diligently and efficiently while dumped on with an unexpected Michigan thunder storm. The job was complete, done right, and the crew remained focused and professional. I am so pleased to have worked with this company and will be sticking with them in the future!! Thanks Pool Guys!!
Kim Dundas: Our pool was in terrible shape, it looked like a frog pond in June. Affordable Pool & Spa came out and worked diligently to get it clean and explained all the steps during the process. The pool was crystal clear when Jens finished it. It took a few days and a lot of chemicals, but he was able to get a great outcome. He brought extra chemicals out for us too, which saved us a trip to go out and buy them elsewhere.
Tim Polakowski: Came out to trouble shoot my Hot Springs hot tub issue. In 20 minutes tech determined it was my circulation pump ($150 part on Amazon, Spa Depot and all others I checked) there part charge was $284.84. After I called them with that info they reduced the part cost by $100. The tech took another 30 minutes to install the pump and the Labor cost was $371.00 (less than and hour and a half of work max) plus a service charge of $75. Even thought the tech was very nice and friendly I'm not sure if I would use them again based on their pricing
Larry S: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueAustin came out to teach us how to run our pool and keep all equipment clean .. very informative very polite very patient very professional… my wife and I learned a lot from him on how to operate and maintain the pool ..Will definitely use in the future !!! 1st tome pool owner and Austin put us on the right track with our pool !!
Channeling John Bonham: I wanted to write about my experience with Affordable Pool and Spa. I can't say enough good things about the two guys that came out to open our pool. First, they had closed the pool last fall. This spring, for the first time, the pool water was not almost black. Every pool company we hired in the past always had the same result...almost black water and it always took a lot of work to get the pool into shape for swimming. Not so with Affordable Pool and Spa. In two days the water was completely clear because last fall they took the time to put in chlorine. No other pool company has done that. Impressive. One other thing. The day the guys came out to open our pool it was raining, but that didn't stop them. The poor guys were soaked. We offered to dry their clothes, which they politely declined. That is dedication. They were also incredibly nice people. I felt very compelled to write this because these two guys worked their butts off for us and we really appreciate it. Thanks, again, guys!! Affordable Pool and Spa has our business as long as we have a pool. And they really are affordable!!Steve Shuck
Jerry Cox: Positive:Professionalism,ResponsivenessThe techs did a great job, and were very professional. Austin P was very professional and patient with me and answered all my questions. The office staff is always polite and helpful.
Brad Hamilton: Positive:ProfessionalismAffordable pools kept me updated and in the loop as we waited for the shipment of an expandable liner. They were curious, kind, understanding and very professional. Ed was excellent with customer service. I highly recommend them!
Geary Koglin: Affordable Pool and Spa has been taking care of our pool for the last four years. I cannot say enough good things about the care they have given to the pool, the consideration they have given to me, the reasonableness of their costs and the timeliness of their service. I would recommend them to anyone in need of pool/spa service. ALL of their employees, technicians and office staff, are considerate and will answer all your questions in a timely manner. Recently Austin Padilla and Cody opened our pool for the coming season and they were terrific! They really know their stuff! Very, very satisfied with Affordable Pool and Spa, Inc.
Kelly Bright: Professional and courteous service
Brittany Vest: Our pool was in such a bad state, we didn't know if it would even be salvageable. It was left with a tarp at the bottom, completely neglected for 3+ years, with zero maintenance. Affordable Pool were able to give us direct & accurate pricing & quotes. The pool needed extensive cleaning & the tech, Jens, has been the one to do it all. He came out, time after time, working tirelessly to complete the days tasks, while communicating everything he was doing, why he had to do it & what all we needed to do to maintain it. As first time pool owners we were very much in the dark, as far as maintaining & working the pool. Every time we called to ask a question or request a service, the reply was quick & the tech, Jens, was promptly sent to our aid. I can't thank him enough for his hard work & honesty. I would recommend this company to anyone needing any/all pool services.
Kimberly Pfeiffer: Everyone I spoke to was incredibly nice but unfortunately I can’t help but feeling like I was scammed and take advantage of. As a new pool owner I scheduled for this company to come open our pool ($295) and teach us about it. After only taking the cover off the young men who came out told me our pool was losing water and it needed to be kept off until further testing could be done. They didn’t clean the pool or do anything else. I was incredibly worried we had a big problem on our hands! A few days later they called me to say they only had two buckets of chlorine left (pricey ones at that) and asked if I wanted to purchase it because I probably wouldn’t be able to find more. At the time I was like wow how thoughtful. Now I’m not so sure. The following week I was charged an additional $395 for the pressure test they said I needed which didn’t consist of much but resulted in them telling me we needed several thousand dollars of work. Thankfully I got a second opinion who told us our pool was in PERFECT condition and there wasn’t a single thing wrong with it. That company completed the opening at a small fraction of the cost and I truly appreciate their honesty! I asked Affordable Pools for even a partial refund and was declined as they stated services were performed. That’s fine, but I’ll make sure I share my experience with everyone in hopes that they have a better one. I’m sure the owner will comment something nasty on here as I have seen he’s done to all the others but this is my HONEST review. I only wish I had read these first because that would have been a huge red flag.
Jackie Gawne: Very friendly and knowledgeable. Hopefully I will be using them again!

Creative Leisure Inc.: what do users think?
Sam Oswald: Place was neat and well stocked. The lady that waited on me was very helpful and assembled the parts I needed, she was polite and I was in and out within 10-15 minutes
Kristopher von Knorring: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,QualityI purchased the pool and pump from Creative Leasure, and they also did the installation. The installers were very nice and professional. The office staff was also very nice, and made the process intuitive. I would reccomend them.Service:Above ground pool installation
Lynne Stewart: Absolute Best Pool Place ever !! Many thanks to all of you !!
Wayne Vorhes: Great place to get your pool supplies & if they don't have what you're looking for they will order it.
Elizabeth Van Camp: Service:Swimming pool water analysisPositive:Professionalism,Quality,Responsiveness,Value
Jennifer Wilson: Washed away my soil and gravel along a rock wall that was $20,000. Clearly a huge pit about 30 feet from my pool down to my yard. Gave me 50 dollars off but it’s well more than 50 dollars in damage. Worst part is when we went up there to show pictures and discuss it with them the guy says “oh those pictures make it look worse than it is”. So does that mean you knew you washed away my rock wall? And actually the pictures did NOT do it justice. This will take a load of sand and gravel and hours of time carefully rebuilding it back up. They are rude and inconsiderate. Also the guy spit two inches away from my strawberry garden. During a pandemic. Where my kids eat strawberries fresh from the garden. How about not spitting in my yard period. Ever. Especially during a pandemic. Thanks for causing me more time and money. I’ll never do business here again.Service:Winterization
Daniel Jansen: The goto family owned place for a quality American made pool.
L.J. Muddy: Not a bad golf course could use a lil TLC in bunkers & greens
Karen Walker: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,ValueExcellent company for installing new pools or liners. Always have what you need in their store. Very kind and professional. Highly recommended
Larry M: Very helpful and knowledgeable staff willing to show you anything you need from even putting the filter skimming basket on your pool highly recommend this place for all your pool needs thank you again for your help
Janell Streu: Very knowledgeable and friendly, but checking out took over 20 minutes. There was a new credit card machine that the person checking me out didn't know how to use.
row w: Good pool place. Competitive prices. Helpful too.
Diane Sands: Always very friendly and helpful, love family owned businesses.
Ted Parsons: Very expensive but guess what they always got what you need
Don O: Good place for supplies.
Gene Rumbel: If you have dough boy your going here.
MomMcHan “mommchan”: I have worked with this company for 14 yrs and have always had great service. 2015 they put in a new pump and filter and I couldn't have been happier. Thanks to Darlene my pool is in the best condition it's ever been. Love this family!
Megan Zinn: I've always had wonderful service here. They have helped us correct our pool anytime there's been issues. I love that they are family owned and local!
Joshua Ellett: My mother had a pool installed by this company and got lazy at the end when they were suppose to pull on the liner when filling up. The result from this was wrinkles on the side support post. They said once we paid them more money that they would come back out and fix the pool. Once the check had cleared from the money they asked for, they called and said that it wasn't worth there while and the job was done, and that we needed to pay in full or legal actions would take place. Now they'll have decided to take my mom to court because they didn't finish the job correctly and they expect to be paid in full. Its a joke and I would not recommend this company to a single person. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR INSTALLATIONS.

Pool Service Specialist: what do users think?
Raouf Mikhail: I had Jeff and Zack open my pool today. I am very happy with their service. Competent, pleasant and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend that pool company.
Kyle Stone: wanted to take a minute and praise pool service specialist.great team. great service. year after year. true professionals- friendly and knowledgeable.
debby mcnicol: Nice people but couldn't help me
Hank Themeat: Paid them to close my pool, broke two of my deck jets, blamed me stating they were too tight or glued in, however I have them on camera attempting to remove them with plyers instead of a socket. Called them several times and was told someone would get back to me...The owner did finally get back to me and has since made correct everything. This review originally was 1 star, however I edited it to reflect a 4 star rating due to the company stepping up and taking care of the issue. For that I would use them again. Mistakes happen to the best of us and owning that mistake is what is important and separates a good company from a poor company.
Gregory Williams: Ordered parts the day before when I arrived to pick up parts one of their technician had them on his truck the lady at the counter said oh he’ll be back around 3 it was 10am yeah no thanks waste of time and gas.
Kaye Counts: Called today and they had my part in stock today . Pools ready for good times again
Chet Brown: Had an issue with a cloudy pool for a week or so. After going to another store and continuing to put $ down the drain (false/inadequate pool readings), took a sample to Pool Service Specialists and they were able to properly diagnose the issue saving me $$$. Clear pool, saved money and great service.
Jim Thomason: Rotten customer service. I'd give them 0 stars if I could! Won't return calls or show up to appointments on time
iama80sgirl: A big thanks to the whole crew at Pool Service Specialist in Burton. From diagnosing the problem, to ordering the pump motor, to installation - all was completed in a timely manner which eased my stress level. Thanks again - I am a forever customer.Mike Rowe - Davison
Alberto Albiar: Good friendly people we’ve been there twice so far with great customer service!! This will be our new spot for the foreseeable future💪🏽🙌🏽
Mike Ferguson: Eric and everyone at Pool Service Specialists are the best. In a time where everything in this industry is chaotic Eric and his crew are there to help. His response time is amazing. I have worked with other companies in the past that never call you back or don't eve show up. Not these guys. I highly recommend for any of your pool needs
smokers chelsea: Critical:Professionalism,Quality,ValueI tried calling and talked to an elderly lady that was extremely rude and unprofessional! Very bad service!
David Tennant: Showed up said they would be back. Never returned and wont answer calls. I have left several messages. Bad business practices.
Mark Saksewski: Eric is very knowledgeable about all things pool related. He has opened, closed, and made repairs on my pool equipment several times. I have found him to be honest, trustworthy and a great resource.
Amy Aul: Eric is very knowledgeable of pools, all makes and models - he is always there to help us if we have questions or problems. He has opened and closed our pool for years and does all maintenance on it. Wonderful company - try him out.

Midwest Pools, Inc.: what do users think?
Mike Like: I worked for Midwest for a long time and in my experience Scott the owner and his sub contractors never seem to get anyone's pool installed and ready in the time frame the customer was given most customers I've dealt with tell me they fell like once they paid they didn't exist anymore and I've done work for his friends for free that you would have paid 5 to 7 thousand dollars for personally if your gonna invest 100000 dollars you'd be better off dealing with a different company I hope you found this helpful and I'm not disgruntled I've never been a fan of the way Scott conducts business if you think I'm lying go read other reviews most customers feel that way I'm actually doing better now that I don't work there the chemicals his employees deal with everyday are very bad for your central nervous system so leaving that place was a blessing
Jackee Philley: Midwest pools has been by far one of the best companies I have ever used while working in hospitality. Everything they completed from the pool resurfacing to the spa equipment removal was top notch. However, the best part of this company has been the customer service I received from Terri. She truly is one of a kind and went so far above and beyond to assist me in all my needs for reopening our pool. Things that she didn't have to do or assist with such as permits, licenses and inspections she was getting information and reaching out to them for me. There was never a time when she did not communicate to me about anything in all the projects we had completed. I truly can't be more appreciative of all she did for me. This company will be my go-to for anything needed in the future.Services:Swimming pool equipment repair,Swimming pool resurfacing,Hot tub equipment maintenance
Collin Wilson: Positive:Professionalism,Responsiveness
Comfort Inn/MainStay Suites General Manager: Midwest Pools has been extremely helpful with our indoor pool and outside hot tub at our property. They helped install all of our pool equipment and have been extremely helpful answering any questions we may have about our systems, even a year+ after install. We've had a couple parts(our bromine feeders and spa blower) have issues and they were able to help get us replacement parts completely covered under their warranty. I would suggest Midwest Pools if you're looking for a reliable company to assist with your pool needs!Services:Design,General construction
Jen Reutter: Positive:ProfessionalismGreat guys, knowledgeable- gave us good advice on our pool.
Jack Snow: This company will come in after the "salesman" has told you what is going to happen, mind you it isn't what's going to happen. In fact they are going to come in swindle you out of your money, then tell you that you need to spend more money after they are "done" with their portion. Then they fire the only respectable people they had within the company that even tried to attempt any sort of customer service. The only person I can get to answer the phone is a guy that apparently no longer works for the company becuase he had a negative attitude? Which this guy by far beats out most people I meet on the daily. So if it's not one thing. Its another with this company. Not only do they swindle the homeowner, they take advantage of the workers as well.Services:General construction,Cleaning,Above ground pool installation
Christopher Baker: Overall had a good experience with Midwest pools. Had a couple things get mixed up and go wrong but scott the owner came out himself and got everything taking care of in a timely manner. Everyone in the office we had to talk to was very nice and all the contractors were professional and seemed to care about what they were doing. My kids had a blast watching them put the pool in and the workers were always talking to them and being kind.Services:Inground pool installation,Fiberglass swimming pool construction

Meagan Brophy: The pool boys do a really great job! They make Beautiful pools!
Mary Jane Cullen: Well I am thrilled with our beautiful Midwest leading edge pool! It took a little longer than we expected but we are now delighted! Austin was the best! Austin cleaned our pool to perfection and taught us everything we needed to know regarding taking care of our pool:) Austin also is very reliable and makes himself available for any additional questions or concerns we had. If you get a Midwest Pool get his number and save it!Services:General construction,Cleaning
Kelly Klebba: Where do I start? It’s been four and a half years since my fiberglass pool was installed. The pool was installed with a softball sized flaw in the center and began to show spider cracks immediately. I have literally spent the entire four and half years trying to get Midwest to fix it.The owner, Scott, has promised me multiple times he will make things right, yet here I am, still here with the same issues. I have sent countless emails, texts and phone calls to the company and to Scott personally. I either get no response or broken promises of fixing things. I am very upset and just plain disgusted with the whole thing. I wish I would never have gotten the pool to begin with.5-12-21 update*****Pool still not fixed. When I contacted Scott last year again for the then fifth summer in a row, I got the same excuses as I had since the day the pool went in. His statement to me was he was sorry that I bought the pool as is but he is trying his best. Really?! Problem is, we ordered the pool brand new so it should have been brand new! Now I’m wondering if I was sold a used or floor model pool even though I paid for a brand new one. If he can’t fix the pool so it’s the way it should have been made, then he should at least give some money back so we can find someone who can do the job of fixing it properly. This will be the sixth, yea I said sixth summer, with a pool that has a soft ball size flaw and spider cracks and still no resolution. Just plain angry and disgusted!
Luc Birchmeier: Great spa. The owner Scott bent over backwards to help make my pool dream possible. Thank you again
Courtney Hummel: Our Leading Edge Fiberglass pool was installed last summer, 2019. The overall length of construction took about 9-10 weeks. We were generally pleased with the service we received during construction. We were thrilled with the outcome of our pool and patio area! There were a few small issues with the concrete in the months that followed...a crack in the concrete right at the pool's edge developed within the first 2 months and when the fasteners for the pool's winter cover were installed the concrete was chipped in several places. We were disheartened to say the least. Mind you we decided to go with stamped concrete and spent a large amount of money just on the pool patio. We let Kyle at Midwest and Francisco from Artistic Concrete know about these problems right away and I was assured these issued would be taken care of in the spring.Fast forward a year...we still love our pool and have found that it is very easy to care for and maintain! However all of the concrete issues are still issues and have recently become bigger! When the pool was opened in the spring the concrete stain was flaking all around the pool edge. That crack that was mentioned earlier...has now split at the bottom of the pool coping and there is a V shaped piece that wiggles and will eventually fall out. The top step into the pool is so slippery that we have had several people fall. One of those falls resulted in a guest spraining their ankle and dislocating a toe. While all of these issues can certainly be fixed, we are extremely disappointed with customer service from both Midwest and Artistic Concrete. We have been more than patient. All issues were reported to both companies last fall, again in May, then again in July and we are now into August with no customer service. We really want to give a good review here because we have completely enjoyed our pool this summer but when you spend 60,000+ on something and can't get people to follow through when there is a problem that is difficult.Service:General construction
Jeff Caswell: Dealing with Midwest has become a nightmare. They push to collect as much money up front as possible, then it seems they have no interest in actually completing the job. Everything started with great optomism. They showed up with this impressive structure (15 X 37 foot pool) and had it installed and site graded in one day (June 4th 2020). Although, it was a little frustrating to see a side hustle to sell our dirt to my neighbor. There was some delay to get electrical and gas, but it was not unreasonable. Then we waited for concrete. We have never received a start date, and the story of where we are in the list continues to change. After more than a month of poor communication we were told that their concrete contractor is not exclusive and they are backed up from COVID shutdown. Eight weeks later, I am still getting stories that seem unbelieveable. Supposedly we are two jobs back for two weeks and running. The only saving grace has been Kyle helping to keep the pool from turning green and being very responsive. We are paying to maintain a dangerous, unusable, eye sore. Since the contract was signed we never heard back from sales or the owner. Communiation with company is non existant unless we initiate.Service:General construction
J Haas: This is the first review I have filled out for any service/product. I know many times people will only fill out reviews if they have a complaint. Buying a pool is a major purchase and I thought it was worth mentioning how happy we are with our pool and that we decided to choose Midwest Pools for the design and installation. The owner was on site to oversee the install. Anytime we had a question the staff was responsive. A special thanks to Kyle who followed up multiple times to answer any questions we had as new pool owners and to make sure everything was running smoothly.Services:Design,General construction,Swimming pool summerization
Dan Valko: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ResponsivenessSuper Happy with the results we have achieved and the work done by Midwest Pools, Kyle is responsive to any and all questions and requests and easy to work with. adding a pool is a large investment and id have no problem going to back to these guys.
Daniel Sapp: Positive:Professionalism,Punctuality,Quality,Responsiveness,Value
Jason Hains: Worked here for 10 years. Very poor owner ship. Unprofessionally built pools. And slave driving hours and low pay result in poorly built and installed pools. Crack in gel in less than a year and concrete will crack over first winter. Would recommend other pool service As well. For they up price 200% and are highly unprofessional when dealing and talking about customers again my experiences over 10 years of loyal services been away from company sense 2017 cant imagine they have improvements
Encounter Developer: Positive:Professionalism,Quality,ResponsivenessThese guys are amazing. Kyle has went out of his way to make our pool an amazing place this year and every step along the way has been excellent communication and amazing service. Would give 6 stars if possible!!

Sean Munson: Most unprofessional company I have ever used. Kept on trying to use excuses to not open my pool. I was told a time that that they would be over and they showed up and immediately left. I called the company and was told that it was the technicians birthday and he had to go to dinner and thats why he left. The main lady, and i use that term loosely likes to talk over you and is very rude and almost obnoxious. I hope nobody uses this company. Tons of better options out there for cheaper.
meb euchre: Critical:Professionalismowner likes to talk over you consistently. viewed job, their career, and walked off. didnt want to attempt, kind of tells me they are not knowledgeable enough to trust their workmanship.

Sarah Bernard: Heatwave pools is the best! I had to have my pool fixed when a tree fell into it! They fixed it all, helped me handle the insurance, and helped me close it! The following season she helped me again to open it since this was my first time with a pool. I had some issues with it turning green and she was out there that day to help me clear up the problem and then explained to me how to keep it from happening again! They are so amazing and I would recommend them to anyone that wants great service! I tell everyone about them and they are so thankful after dealing with heatwave and having such great service!!!!
Jen Craven: Marcia installed my pool for me and everything is beautiful. Installation went smooth and went great. She has taught me everything I need to keep my pool clean and clear. I will be using them for all my needs
Roberta Pearce: This company’s communications has save my summer! Response time was immediate....after the company I had previously I didn’t expect for another to actually do what they said they would!! They came when they said they would, very knowledgeable, great pricing and I appreciate the real concern to help me be able to enjoy my pool this year!!
Northern Boy: A bit disappointed!!! They will skip steps, such as....I was promised and written in contract that the pool bottom would be "dry bagged" to level it. Never happened! I've driven on smoother dirt roads! The bottom was never swept or vacuumed before putting in liner as well! Instead of using liner lock they used clothes pins!!!! That's right.....clothes pins!!!! I spent close to 5k for replacing the liner, fixing a hole and water! BTW...... I took old liner out myself. Shameful! I'm suing them!!!!!
