Grand Rapids Buddhist Temple: what do users think?
jim: Three Buddha ar least , none of them was real
Joel B: It's a great place to meditate and meet the sangha. They are welcoming and very nice people.Don't feel bad if you aren't exactly a monk or a nun, there is a large laity here. There are recovery meetings and classes to show you the path many seek.I couldn't really imagine a more open and accepting space in all of Grand Rapids. If you are just in a rut in life, or questioning your place in the world, this is one of the best places to go. I'm not saying you will discover all of the answers to life's questions here, but you will ne given the tools and a road map to answer those questions for yourself. If you have a loved one that has passed away there is a shrine where you are free to leave a small trinket or belonging of theirs for them to be remembered. There are seats for use during the service if mats make you uncomfortable for any reason. You must remove shoes upon entering and be wearing socks, but if you don't have any there are communal socks provided. The golden rule applies here, treat others the way you wish to be treated and please respect the space and rules provided for said space.
