Spectrum Health Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion: what do users think?
Marianne Guthrie: Every time I've been here, the staff was incredibly nice. It's a nice facility and isn't too difficult to navigate. The parking ramp is easy to get in and out of, find your way around, etc. I'm always in and out in record time.
LaDonna Pearson: I had Breast Cancer in 2010-11 They really took care of me I had Chemotherapy & Radiation now I’m Cancer Free as of now. I still call when I have problems or When it’s time for my Mammogram. They are my Families.💞💕💗
Sherri Dove-Price: Professional team makes you feel you are in good hands. Friendly staff makes you feel more than a number. Peaceful environment puts you at ease during a very difficult time. I was very impressed with staff and facilities. I would highly recommend this facility to family and friends!!
Craig Ward: If you or a loved one has to come here, rest assured you will receive top quality care in this wonderful facility.
Cheryl: This was the worst experience of my life. The place where I had my treatments for cervical cancer was awful --noisy, lacked privacy (put me in a hallway area near major staff walkthrough paths with just curtains, daily, after surgery to place the cervical tube inside for radiation treatments), it was scruffy looking, and seemed like the cellar dregs at the bottom of a better place. The noise alone made me want a sedative for the first time in my life. I was forced to stay completely still in that horribly noisy place for many hours. It was a terrible experience I will never forget.
Lynn Williamson: Great place and awesome people!!!
Mary Hall: I was here on 11-15-21@ 8:30 am for a biopsy. The older lady at the desk who's name was Mary was rude and yelled at me and the lady in front of me to check-in on the I-Pad.I had tried but it didn't work and then it went through.I'm already nervous and scared and someone with that attitude needs not to work around humans. The other girl at the desk was named Danielle and was sweet and kind. I've had her before.I hope Mary gets a attitude adjustment. Most of us I'm sure are in for a cancer testing and and having someone with compassion makes a difference.
Brian & Kathy Coughlin: The staff here are WONDERFUL! I remarked to one that I enjoyed seeing the gracious way she made sure another patient had everything he needed & she lit up, "I *love* my job!" It shows :). They've always been friendly, encouraging & helpful :).
Nicole Brown: I go there for Non-Oncolgy IV Infusions, all th nurses and other staff have been great!
Co Bald: I stopped in to briefly say hi to my family member undergoing radiology. let me just say this , the gentleman at the front was not only helpful but he had a certain time of warmth that radiated from within when he spoke to me, I knew immediately I was going to be taken care of along with my family and that to me is priceless . Time is money and this man definitely deserves more money. 11:00 am ,Thursday May 21st 2020.
Michelle D: I had a really hard time here. I parked in lot 3, walked up Michigan street and into the front of the building. Found out they do free valet parking. Asked the lady at the desk inside for help with directions. She pointed to her right and told me to go to the 4th floor, #4100. When I got off the elevator one person went in before me, another lady followed me in the door. The lady at the desk asked me my name and I gave it to her. The lady behind me stated she had an appointment and didnt know where she needed to be , so the frount desk asked for her name . I stood there well the desk lady helped her. When the lady behind me found out she was in the wrong spot and left the desk lady looked at me and asked why I was still standing there. I told her I have an appointment and dont know where I'm going. The desk lady said you have an appointment? She took my birthday and told me I needed to go to 4200. At this check in desk I was also ignored and had people walk in front of me. Tell I found out there was a tablet to check in on and was able to sit down.My over all appoiment took 3 hours. I was told after I was brought back to the changing rooms , that they where an hour behind. Make sure to bring a big book and phone charger.i hope other people experience a better susation then me. Getting back fo my car is a whole another story .
Tonya Robinson: They were very nice I never have to wait very long I love the building it is beautiful and peaceful
Sam Barbera: Staff friendly facility clean and welcoming
Christine Norrbom: The building facility is clean and beautifully appointed. There is a large front reception desk and valet is easy to find. Well, valet isn't easy to find after our appointment kept us in the building until 6:15 pm. No one was was in our doctors office; no one was in the reception area, NO One was in valet! So we went to the main lobby floor. A non-communicative man slouched in a chair in an obscure corner in the main lobby area begrudgingly told us to go to another floor-where of course there was no valet and so back up again to the main lobby. The same surly character told us somebody would show up! A young man arrived and finally we gave him out ticket and our car was brought to us. This may be a beautiful building but trust me it isn't one that you want to have an appointment in-it's a cancer building! So wanting to leave is paramount. When you can't find the valet open where you parked your car; the man in the lobby is less than helpful; you've just had unfortunate medical information shared with you, well you want to leave the building!!! So, beware of the valet parking if you are in the building after 5:30 pm!
Karen Darling: Beautiful building, peaceful while waiting for appointments, listening to piano player. The atmosphere is serene and staff is friendly and helpful if you need to locate where to find your area for an appointment and parking. The parking and taking elevators is CRAZY, like, it's so huge, a person can get lost...as I did LOL. ended up at children's hospital when I should have been in the Lemmon Holton Cancer building. But staff helped me get to where I needed to be.

Cancer Center at The Village | University of Michigan Health-West: what do users think?
Marcia Olson: All staff are amazing . Dr Bott is so kind and caring
Anita Baker: I wish I could give 5 stars!I am glad the Dr found the cancer, however he seems desensitized to his job.We did not get a good explanation for a stage 4 patient. Also, I can sometimes get a call back but then they have to ask the Dr about whatever I told them, then no call back.Just frustrating to feel left in the dark
Aaron Rohen: The team was fantastic to work with. From the oncologist to radiologist to nurses to receptionist. Cancer is not fun, but, if you are unfortunate to have it, the team here is great to work with!!!
Jesse “Jnic” N.: I'm sorry if you are prospectivly reading this in advance, cancer is (and for me, has been) the most difficult fight for your life you can face. Just rest-assured that here they are going to take care of you, from the start to remmision and beyond! They also partner with a local hospice, just in case and for palliative care. They have been on my side for the entirety of my cancer and they work with you and help you through the treatments, they really do have staff that CARE. Many places only get reviews when something bad happens, thus creating a largely negative impact on places like this, but I am one of those that is here to just give you that little nudge to take the steps and beat whatever is ailing you and let the great folks here at University of Michigan West Cancer Center take care of you or your loved ones. I won't move because of the care I recieve here. All in all, for what it is, well worth the visit and gaining some insights.
Christine Chrisman: No friendly faces. My boyfriend was prescribed the wrong medication because the nurse I spoke to that relayed her own diagnosis to the provider who prescribed the wrong medication based on her diagnosis, so he had to go to the ER for correct treatment. Another time waited until 4pm to tell us that he couldn't get pain medication prescribed until he came in to sign a paper, knowing we are an hour away, so he had to just lay there in pain. Worst place I've ever seen!!!! Wouldn't recommend taking your dog there!
Susanne Boyd: I have been receiving treatment for breast cancer at the Metro Health Cancer Center since December 2018 and have been very impressed with the quality of care I have gotten since day one. The staff is knowledgeable and kind, they are efficient and on time. Tara, my chemotherapy nurse is always smiling and full of information and Dr. Zakem has taken time to answer my questions as they come up. I am also very grateful to the social worker and nurse navigator who have made sure my disability paperwork is in order, and that when I have had concerns or problems have called me back to put my mind at ease. I can't thank everyone at the Cancer Center enough, from the receptionist, the phlebotomist, the medical assistants, pharmacists, nutritionist, and nursing staff for getting me through the past 5 months.
Lori O'Brien: I have been visiting the cancer center for the past year with my sister. The doctors, nurses, admin., everyone has always been amazingly patient, caring and compassionate. Thank you for caring for sister during a very frightening time in her life.
Angie L: If you or a loved one have cancer, this is the best team of people to have on your side. The staff is very compassionate and we were immediately treated like family. They knew us by name by the second visit and the nurses even recognize my voice on the phone. Personalized treatment is handled by doctors and nurses across the spectrum of the medical field. This even includes a social worker, dietitian, support groups, volunteer organizations, and even a "nurse navigator" to help you organize appointments and treatment. This is becoming a very popular treatment center since Metro and U of M joined forces. We've met people who drive over an hour for treatment every day and still say this is the best cancer center. And I certainly agree.
Seth Reenders: Amazing care and treatment, could not ask for anything better! They take care of you and are willing to talk and listen to any of your questions. The whole team of doctors and nurses are great!
D. A. Schippers: When a loved one is battling cancer, you hope care givers are compassionate. I've seen them insert other patients into rotation with no communication on why they're running late, which is daily from 15-50 minutes. Recently, they handed my wife a new list of appointment times without consultation. Since she's trying to work through treatments, this creates a giant amount of stress and issues. Not only are you dealing with the psychological stress of fighting cancer, the treatment staff doesn't communicate well, or act empathetic. Saying you're sorry daily because you consistently don't enforce appointments or staff appropriately just isn't remotely professional, especially when providing cancer care. My impression is they expect you to clear your day for when they get to you. Needless to say, not highly recommended. Additionally, the surgical oncologist misread charts and provided wrong information.

Spectrum Health Medical Group Breast Care Services: what do users think?
Ginger Dushane: Every one has been supper helpful and friendly
Laura Helsley: They treat you like a stuffed pig. They make you wait hours and hours in tops that cover nothing. It's not welcome It's the most uncomfortable place I have ever been. Will never go back
Sheryl Sommers: I am a retired nurse and was very impressed with there whole team! They ALL were so very compassionate.
Brittany Price: This place is awesome, friendly atmosphere & this location is not only for people dealing with cancer but also has doctors offices, radiology (imaging services: such as mammograms, ultrasounds of breast, PET, CT, and MRI) in this building.
Ronald Strauss: Workers there are focused on their jobs not on the patient.
Peggy Parks: Friendly helpful staff
Tori Wohlschlegel: Absolutely AMAZING! Beautiful building, wonderful staff. I saw Dr Kim Quiggley, I wish I could tell everyone that she is the absolute best! She cares so much, listens carefully, makes a plan right away, talks with other drs to get opinions (so rare and professional!), and you just feel so comfortable.
Jenn Gavin (A Pleasant Dog): I could not ask for a better or more encouraging and reassuring physician than Dr. Miller. Her surgical skills, bedside manner, and rolling ultra sound machine she takes everywhere help me feel confident and comfortable despite my high risk status. Thank you, Dr. Miller for your remarkable skill and compassion.
Heather Skiles: Sorry to say but my experience here has been a living nightmare it's a infusion center so there are little cubicales set up so you can sit watch TV while hooked up to your I've for few hours, they started a IV in my arm four times before they got it right, and it was on porpuse, every eight weeks I get this done, I have been treated horribly by staff and even sent out without my treatment just so I could come back and it would look like I was coming downtown Grand rapids to get drugs my medical transportation was acting like they couldn't give me a ride back home so I would have to walk to a bus station with marks on my arms and money is being embezzled there are a few normal employees but my situation is different then most people's the building is cool
N S: I thought the staff were all friendly. There were two ladies that helped us find our way (we were kind of confused with the elevators) parking was free the doctor and his nurses were very nice to us. It was very beautiful on the inside lots of plants, photographs and art. Very clean. Nice updated furniture. The desk ladies were helpful and friendly. There was someone playing a piano which was nice. They offer valet parking as well which I thought is a nice gesture for those who need it. The doctor my husband saw was very serious about getting to the bottom of this and seemed to be doing every test possible which we appreciate. Leaving was hard as it was around rush hour and that part of town seems very busy.
Desi Schroeder: Staff is really friendly but in working with Dr. Polavaram, I am now getting way better care elsewhere. I am pregnant and that's a fact she seemed to disregaurd as well as wanting to treat in a way that can help me now yet harm me in the future. I will not be going through them for care ever again.
Todd Cammenga: The doctors & staff at Lemmen-Holton have been nothing short of amazing!
Yvonne Knevels: Love everyone there. Always helpful. The nurses are great and go out of their way to be helpful and supportive.
Diane George: Very accomodating and friendly staff. Long waits are typical but comes with the territory of a doctors office/medical facility. Nice cafe with healthy options for all dietary needs. Free valet really is great...helps a lot when in pain.
Chad Monroe: Beautiful building! Might forget you're sick for a second. Piano player in the lobby. Awesome!!
L arthur: Got there 15 minutes early.....checked in.......sat down.....they called my name...registered me....AND THEN SAID...WE ARE AT LEAST AN HOUR BEHIND. NEVER in my life have I not had an apt. done on time. This is my first experience there.. totally unacceptable. I left.
Randall H.: Pet/cat scans.Beautiful facility. Welcoming. Friendly.(Fast. Free wifi)They earn their money.
Melody Wheatley: Loved my docs I had (both retired now). Getting to know my new one. I just wish when I call or return their call I could get a real person instead of an answer machine or a long hold recording. They accused my internist office of not answering (nothing I've experienced there) but I've yet to get a scheduler to pick up the phone when they tell me to call them. No extension given either.
Orphan Outfitter: Very disappointed with my treatment in the lymphedema department. I have chronic lower extremity lymphedema that is difficult to treat. I've been self managing for five years, and have seen two other lymphedema therapists in California with limited but noticeable results. I recently moved to Grand Rapids and started seeing a therapist here for new and worsening lymphedema in my legs. In my opinion the therapist is not highly skilled at wrapping (the primary skill needed for reduction and management) and the department does not have access to good quality and variety of materials to make wrapping affective. The measurement taking technique is not adequate for measuring results. I'm assuming the department is relatively new, or has had some budget cuts or something, but I do much better work on my own at home. The treatment provided here is probably adequate for someone with new or mild lymphedema who has no experience with it. I expressed my concern to the department head regarding not getting results, and asked to switch to see a different therapist and I feel like I was treated with hostility. They said all of their therapists "do the exact same thing" and there was no point in switching and that they were happy to cancel the rest of my appointments, effective immediately. I explained that I was not coming from a place of anger or being nitpicky and that I have no problem with my therapist as a person (I enjoy her company), but that I do need to see results otherwise I'm wasting everyone's time and money. Again I was told immediately that canceling all further appointments was no problem and that was pretty much the end of the conversation. I feel like the person I was talking to (the scheduler, whom should take no personal stake in the quality of treatment provided), was taking it personally or they were just happy to not have my business for whatever reason. I was never rude, I was calm, I asked several times if they thought I was being unreasonable for expecting better results. I patiently asked questions and was not pushy even after they didn't return my call for three days. I even insisted that my therapist not be notified that I wasn't satisfied with her work because I did not want to hurt her feelings. I'm very disappointed and feel I was treated like a "difficult customer". I honestly don't feel like I was asking too much. I posed all my questions carefully and gave them the chance to let me see a different therapist to see if she would be better skilled in the technique I have seen results from previously, but I was denied and that's the end of that. I highly recommend if you have lymphedema and you've been here and not gotten results, do your research on the web, join lymphedema support groups on Facebook, and definitely try another therapist. This condition can be managed but I do not believe Lemmen-Holton has fine-tuned the tools or the training. (They were very nice and accommodating at the beginning however, and the facility is beautiful.)
Donald Smith: My wife has been treated for melanoma at L/H since 2011. We are very satisfied with the treatment received and the professional staff's interactions with us.
Jo Williams: very helpful people!! nice building.
