City of Grand Rapids, City Hall: what do users think?
M DILLY: Great customer service!
Jennifer Dibble: People who work there rude!
Jon Benedict: I frequently call 311 and visit city hall representing the properties that I manage. Every interaction with the city representatives is educational and provides me with a solution to my problem. From the forestry department to engineering, they have you covered with all things civic!
Anthony Delvridge: Enjoyed some good noodles
Scott Decker: Calder plaza is the bomb ❗
Kevin Bemman: There is a new system in place and you get to take your picture and everything. Slow the first time through but eazy peazy the second round!
Valynn Lage: Love you, GR!
Richard Claycomb: The City of Grand Rapids has an income tax policy that encourages people to commute to work in the City but live in the suburbs. People who live in Grand Rapids and work in Grand Rapids pay more income tax to the City of Grand Rapids than those who work in Grand Rapids but live outside of the City limits. This simply encourages people to live in the suburbs and spend their incomes they make working in Grand Rapids in the suburbs which stymies the re-development of run down areas south of downtown Grand Rapids to create safer neighborhoods and places for people to work. Why should someone who lives and works in Grand Rapids pay more in income taxes used to maintain streets and roads in Grand Rapids that see the most wear and tear on them from commuters who live outside the City but work in the City and who don't pay the same amount in income taxes for the upkeep and repair of the infrastructure of Grand Rapids? Also, there has been lots of apartment development in downtown bringing in new residents but the City has not worked to bring in a supermarket that people can walk, bike or take a short bus ride to.There is a Meijer's grocery store on the west side of the Grand River on Bridge Street but it's not easy to get to for downtown residents who live east of the river, particularly those living in income based housing buildings downtown who don't own cars to drive to that grocery store. The Downtown Market is for take out and is mostly gourmet foods and too costly for most people to do all of their grocery shopping at.This lack of a downtown supermarket encourages car ownership so people can get to grocery stores outside of the downtown area and that is not what downtown urban living is supposed to be about. With more people moving into downtown without a supermarket to buy their groceries at, the need for more car ownership to buy groceries outside of the downtown area creates parking problems for tourists and people who live in the suburbs who want to spend time in downtown Grand Rapids seeing the sites and financially supporting local businesses by buying things at downtown stores and dining at the downtown restaurants and cafes.
Mikayla Watkins: It was amazing there, the people of Grand Rapids are very welcoming and know how to party!!!! GR Pride 2022 was fabulous The queens stole everyone's breath, LGBTQIA+ family and Allies were dressed up and looked stunning.......Especially the very pretty person in the pinstripe pants and horns 😉😘 I hope this encourages more to come out next time, whether your family, or an ally, or just someone that feels the need to show love for another Valid, Deserving, Loved, and proud human being!!!!! You are welcomed!!!!!!! That much I can guarantee!Happy Pride month and stay safe.
Graham Morrison: Fun place for a festival however it would be nice if they had a bathroom option outside of poorly maintained portable toilets.
K J: Downtown Grand Rapids for the 2022 Food Truck Festival. Tons of people. Loads of good food. Had a BBQ, crepe and ice cream sandwich.Wonderful time. Great weather.Awesome experience.I only have one complaint/observation.I know the food truck needs power. I get that. But every time I waited in line. We were stuck listening to generators. VERY LOUD. Couldn't hear a darn thing. Maybe a housing to damper the sound or a way to locate them at a farther distance from the trucks. Not a deal breaker. Just annoying.
Rick and Brenda Becker: Enjoyed an evening in the foyer to celebrate our friend’s choreography skills in the Kinky Boots production!💃🏾👢👢
OrangeandBlack: Very nice, friendly assistance in the city income tax office.
Suzanne Freiberg: It's the Calder!! What's not to like???
Robert Davis: Wonderful place to be love the area
Esteban “Pedro garcia”: Excelente.
andrew opatik: Great experience awesome ppl work here
Paul Gipson: Doing good business downtown.
Roberto Martin R: Muy hermosa el centro de Grand Rapids MICHIGAN.
Medic 1647: Downtown GR is decent enough. No more special than any other City of comparable size, however, I will say the Parking is deplorable and the Parking Ticketers are everywhere!
Cindy S: Quick friendly service
