The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center: what do users think?
Chelsea Detweiler: 100% NOT open, not since 2019. Don't be fooled by the Hours on Google's page.
Haley Seidl: This store is closed temporarily even though it says it's open here
Sabrina Chapman: Is this store still under construction?
J. McCormick: It's closed. Don't go. Checked Google and headed over to get some clothes for a new job - wasted two hours on a bus and now I'm stuck in the snow with no new work clothes :/
Kelly Arrand: Favorite thrift store in Grand Rapids. Huge selection, helpful staff, and I love the 99 cent clothing days!Update: I miss this place. It's been closed for over a year.
Gregory S Mann: BEEN CLOSED FOR REMODELING FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. TAKE THIS OFF YOUR LIST. PLEASE REMOVE FALSE ADVERTISING OF THRIFT STORE AT THIS LOCATION.
Helena Calais: CURRENTLY CLOSED for construction. Love this place, have been visiting here since I was a child and scored some amazing things along the years. But don’t do what I did and show up to find a closed store. Spoke to a very friendly security guard who advised it’s closed indefinitely and that there’s been no advice as to when the remodeling will be done. ☹️
Donnato Ortiz: It is closed right now being remodeled but will open up soon .
Lita Sandy: I have always liked this store and some of the 8 others in the district; I have been spending and donating to WM locations for decades, on and off, quite often to this location (also, the main store). I am now wondering where is the food bank that the Holland church claims they have in operation, actually is at this time. Isn't there one here in Grand Rapids, during this Covid-19 pandemic? Is everything going to rehab? Rehab is a GREAT cause but I'd like details before I donate more. I do remember that one of the wasps in charge years ago (a LTC or COL or whoever) allowed an antique collector (name escapes me) to be in charge of antiques / collectibles that were donated to the store. As there are 8 stores in the district and the Division Ave location is where 90% of all store donations are sorted and redistributed BACK out to the 8 stores in West Michigan, the choice of items are decided by whoever is in charge at Division Ave. (not many people know that their donations get sent to GR first and NOT in their communities where they donated to their own city stores - ALWAYS has been how it works). Anyway, said woman (antique / collectibles / jewelry collector herself) FINALLY left, after DECADES of incompetence and questionable practices, we still know little about who is pricing the valuable donations now. Her erratic pricing / "appraising" efforts were sad. I was told that she was fired at least once, for stashing items one year, during the financial crisis (I can't validate this - only heard this through the grapevine). I also did hear such things about her from a now deceased acquaintance and a few others. This wasn't anything I was completely aware of myself, prior to hearing from others. One has to wonder just how much MUCH $$ didn't get into the Salvation Army coffers as a result of those supervisory eyes averted from this particular organization. Still, it happens in all charity stores, some more than others. Not all volunteers are concerned solely with the actual charity. If they were, people would actually see more offerings with intrinsic value, out on the floor. Mostly, it doesn't happen and as a result, people who are aware won't donate better quality goods. EVERY store has at least one antique dealer and/or "appraiser" in the back room where many items don't make it onto the showroom floor. I do believe that this store has had a chance to reform, esp after this woman's final departure. Of course, who will ever know why this went on for SO MANY YEARS. This has ALWAYS been my FAVORITE West Michigan charity and I intend to continue giving. Before, I would only give quality items that I figured would actually go on the shelf. I am glad that she's history but still, would love to know more BEFORE I give more today. I feel that I do have much to give.
Wee Pee: Haven't been there because the store is under construction just wanted to say so nobody comes all the way out for nothing.
trish dagle: Not currently open. Building reno. Great store though.
Laura Muresan: Sometimes I find good stuff here, but I hate that they don't put out jigsaw puzzles unless they're still factory-sealed. I was told it's because people complained that puzzles weren't complete. News flash: puzzles at thrift stores might not be complete. Tip: rather than not selling them because of this, why not just put a sign up by the puzzles, or on the boxes, that they aren't tested and aren't guaranteed to be complete? One of the main reasons my son and I like to go to thrift stores is to look for puzzles, so this policy is horrible for us.
Kathleen Simpson: They used to sort clothing by color and not by size, but recently switched...this is a huge time saver for me. A lot less sorting looking for your size...now, a quick glance and you can see what they have in your size. Thank you so much! I find all kinds of "gems" at this store and sometimes for only $.99 as they have a tag color each week which is 50% off. Things that cost $50 or $60 new can be purchased for 10% of the original cost in good condition--real bargains!
Emma C.: Bought an $8 nightstand here that ended up infesting my house with bed bugs. The $8 turned into $1308. Tried to call them to let them know, and got nothing in response. Shop with caution.
Carsondra George: There bathroom doesn't have a lock. ( so anyone can walk in on u) be careful.
BringItBackAgain: I love shopping here. If I had some constructive criticism it would be to not put staples through the material if there is no tag. And sometimes the staples are through the material tag and the material of the shirt. I've passed up a whole lot of nice quality shirts because they were destroyed by your staples. Would also love to see a by the pound store in the Grand Rapids Michigan area.
Zac Erb: Prices are too high and shelves were empty. The lady downstairs was rude to a customer and had attitude towards everyone.normally I shop here but this time was disappointed.
Milan Nerad: Store refused to help a disabled veteran load a dryer on to the back of his pick up truck. This is shamlesss act and a disgrace!!!
Pam Castleman: Very Friendly, and great Rehab for my son, Scott Reynolds. He wants to make me proud, I pray for him every day.
Maria Sobol: This Salvation Army store has the largest amount of merchandise compared to the other Salvation Army stores in town. The downstairs in this store has a large amount of furniture while the upstairs has a lot of clothing.
Racheal C: I love thrift stores, and this is one of my favorite Salvation Army's. Big store with 2 floors of treasures to discover! Sometimes I actually find something worth buying! Staff here is super friendly. Great deals, especially on holidays!! (No A/C, so shop according to weather)

The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center: what do users think?
Ellie Wierenga: Great Thrift store. Very inexpensive. Lots of clothes& housewares.Alot of times they have sales on already low prices Very nice people that work there. The downside to this store is that the doors to this business are not automatic&you have to push them open which does make it difficult for those who are disabled👎🏼☹(had surgery a couple of weeks ago&have a walker, found it difficult to enter &exit their property)
Kelley Joy: Groovy
L S: Mason and Kristen are my pals. I love going and seeing them on Fridays. I have found many cool finds at this location but I miss the .99 cent sale sooooo much!
Sophia Taylor: Mason the cashier was so kind and fun to see every time Im in! Favorite thrift store in GR:)
Cole Gleason: The products have a lot of choices but the rude cashier made the experience frustrating, the elderly woman before us couldn’t hear him say 2.11 she heard 2.09 so he screamed 2.11 loudly at her twice in a row and shook her up a bit I could tell then asked us if we had different bills because he didn’t want to break them. The cashier with the fancy looped belt and laced red shirt.
Bob Smith: TLDR; GREAT!About 25% menswear, 45% womens clothing, and 30% housewares. Small jewellery couter too.Pros: Weekly color tags. Better quality items then most SA stores. Cleanest SA I've ever been in. Great selection. Prices on half the items were good, the other half a bit higher than other SA. Employees were very helpful and attentive.Cons: Just a handful of items were unreasonably priced (IE: a simple sweater for $16 when most were only $3 to 5); never seen that before at an SA, it was really strange.
Ben B-R: Great treasure store!!!
savege games: Nice.clean.well organized.friendly staff and great bargains
Vivian Jackson: Nice store
Laura: Lots to look
Betty Stewart: Great buys.
flame fire: It is clean and organized. A lot of great stuff to choose from.
Juliet Schaafsma: Full of good stuff
Sofia Ovalle: Very clean and organized store . Face mask is required to inter the place and hand sanitizer for your hands. Very friendly staff . I love coming in to a thrift store that is well stacked with merchandise. Come browse around you may find some awesome deals. Let's support this place of business that supports others 🙂
megan randall: This place has lost its mind! 10 and 12 dollars for jeans! No matter the brand. What is going on? I shop these stores frequently and this is by far the highest priced salvation army I've been to! Disappointed that greed took over this store.:( shopping elsewhere from now on.
M DILLY: The items that are sold here are too expensive, I understand is a second hand store but is unreal some of the clothes are just too worn out, as to old for household items to be sold for the prices the have. The place us somehow clean and service is I guess ok.
Donnato Ortiz: Organizes and frendly
Mrs. Benham: It is a wonderful place to shop. Very clean. They sanitize the carts. Clean the counters often. All donations are quarantined when they get them. The staff is very friendly.
Broken Doll (Broken Doll): It sucks, rarely ever has anything new or worth buying
LuAnn Egy: It's always fun to just browse around to see what people donate like they say " one man's junk is another man's treasure"!
Josh Page: Being on a tight budget I would frequent the many salvation army stores on a weekly basis. With the limited income I have I would find items for people I knew needed them and couldn't afford them and would be able to pick them up at a price within my price range. After seeing the new corporate major increase in pricing I won't be going back anymore! The pricing has almost doubled for their items and the items aren't even being inspected! Sad to see that corporate greed has affected even local charities!

Women's Resource Center: what do users think?
Brittany Maclin: This is a hidden gem of resources
Linda Green: Map won't show not right location
Pat Mollema: I went to the Women’s Resource Center quite some time ago. They helped me get a job at the (only) phone company! I was going through a divorce and pretty “down”; they were my “cheerleaders”! I retired from that fantastic job 23 years later! Now I encourage young women to give them a try!
Michelle Smith: Love this place and the lasies.that work and to volunteer
Connie Farrell: Great resource for women two grow
Cheryl Schenk: They are so helpful. The classes and workshops are wonderful. Helped alot. They have a clothing closet to help get a professional outfit for interviews.
Christine Raynes: Great place!
Jamie Fron: Friendly staff, they're very helpful if you need interview prep, job coaching and even resume help if you feel as if you're stuck or need practice.
davetta gilmore: Friendly environment
Chip Longcore: My sister was in bec she was having a lot of pain issues bec she is 8 month pregnant and the doctors and nurses did everything to make her feel comfortable and help her with her pain..This place is amazing..
D Lanesky: Can b a wonderful source for women. Will help with many problems 4 a woman returning 2 the workforce.
Gladys Martinez-Cisneros: Very helpful
C Busfield: I have used their services while unemployed in the past. You can meet with an advisor to guide you through the job search process. They have their own help wanted resources, they offer training programs, mostly related to the use of computers, word, etc as well as job interview skills and writing a resume. They even have appropriate clothing available for job interviews. Most if not all of these services are free.
Brynn Taylor: They help with all your employment related needs
Jasmine Thuc: This place is one of the best resources in Grand Rapids!
Mike Lessens: Excellent place for women in need of help in entering/re-entering the workforce. That includes help with resume' writing, teaching of successful interview techniques (with no cost, available, "dress-for-success" clothing at their onsite, "Clothing Closet") and improving computer literacy. Be all you (women) can be (and, most likely, already are). I am a man and this place will get you back on your feet and contributing to our West Michigan workforce. You can do it. Relax. Retrain. Regroup. GR Women's Resource Center will be in your corner every step of the way.

St Vincent de Paul Resale Store: what do users think?
John Yoder: horrible prices… items are priced higher than what they are worth brand new. Don’t waste your time stopping. Items should be at a good price before half off day. Even on half off day most items are priced significantly higher than what they are actually worth.
Joy McCormick: Clothing prices -- RIDICULOUS HIGH. Everything else is about par for local thrifts. If you're specifically looking for clothing items, I would shop somewhere else. The store is kind of dirty too. But that is common in thrift stores in this area.
R: Always welcomed with a smile, prices are fair, and always fun to stop by.
Edna Walker: To high to be a second handed store
Gamedawg: It's a shame that a low income family in need of beds and furniture has to pay $300 for a used mattress and box spring!!! No frame but the store is full of items...and they say their low on cash but the items are DONATED!!!
Jessica Powell: I’m giving 4 stars because I still enjoy going to St. Vincent’s to thrift occasionally. I don’t want to give up on it yet. However I used to go more regularly because it was more fun to hunt for treasure. But sadly it’s changed. They opened up their “boutique prices” on women’s clothing and they pick out everything that they think is good and charge twice as much for it or even more. Unfortunately not prices I’m willing to pay for what I’m getting. In theory maybe the boutique prices could be a good idea? Not sure. But I wonder is it working for them? It sure has taken the fun out of thrifting there. And I buy a lot less as well. I wish them all the best with their boutique but I hope they decide to go back to their pre-boutique ways.
Erica Bouillon: Prices too expensive for a thrift store. There is a ton of inventory and the store is so packed with it, it's a mess. It would probably be less jam packed If the prices weren't so high. Employees are really nice though.
Professor Handsome: Please gate keep this spot
Juan Jr Medina: Pretty good my gf loves going here and I love taking her.
H R: Amazing service. Great finds.
Karen Taylor: The store was well organized and most items were fairly priced. Some good furniture was very inexpensive. The staff we talked to were helpful and kind. I liked the industrial building feel. That did make it a little dark in some parts. There were lots of high end clothing and fancy dresses upstairs. Tons of well displayed furniture on the main level. No carts upstairs could be a challenge if you wanted a lot of clothing. We ventured to the store based on post six months ago in Michigan Everything that posted how awesome the 3 level store was.The St. Vincent web-site needs to be updated. We went to the location expecting to find the "3 level thrift store." The basement has been closed for over a year but the photos on the webpage still show large signs indicating the basement is 50% off. The cashier indicated they knew the webpage was long outdated but hadn't gotten to it. Below is a photo of the page screen shot today.Do go to this location. (But do not expect the basement to be open.)
steven adegboye: They have a great selection and always have amazing deals. Hands down my fav thrift store
Larry Howard: Most likely they got everything you need old to new medium small how long big wide they got a library for the kids to go in and read on them love couches so I give it up for that place man you know everything cheap you getting nice things is good people in there Andover yeah I'm going to go back sometime I don't know when but it's going to be sometime
Anthony Fisk: Good group. Felt good. My girlfriend found some great items for her apartment.
Cara Quillin: Love this thrift store it's fun
Bryan Gruesbeck: Not a lot of men's clothes
Gladys Dodger: Prices are a bit high but they sell quality items. The whole store has been cleaned and rearranged. They need to fix the elevator.
J L: This store was extremely overpriced for a thrift store. I realize the proceeds go to helping the community and the homeless, but at those prices, I could buy the some of the same things at the store either brand new or a buck or two more. It's also extremely disorganized. Hard to walk around, and no way to get a cart upstairs. I'm disabled, so stairs don't work for me. Staff was super friendly though. That's why they get 3 instead of 2 stars.
KILLy Munster: Found three nice sweaters for half price, a few final clearance divided plates & paid full price for a few other housewares.Always have liked this store but the last few times I shopped most of the prices were too high IMHO.The cashier was very friendly & helpful.
Louis Wilbon: Great place Very helpful
Jorge Rubio: I Love This Place! :-)

The Salvation Army Family Store & Donation Center: what do users think?
Jeff Greger: I hadn't been in since before COVID when I was a fairly regular customer. The book/DVD/CD area needs new shelving as the wood is warped or missing in spots. I picked out 5 music CDs, priced on the sign at 99 cents, the price it has been for years. At checkout, the gentleman informed me the price was $1.99. I told him the sign indicated the were 99 cents. He hemmed and hawed about their being a price change which had yet to be posted. I argued briefly about the signage conflicting with his statement. Now the price increase may have been legitimate, but I find it a bit strange that the first time I come into the store in over 3 years, the price more than doubles despite the signage. I voiced my displeasure and left the CDs behind.
Hillary: Loved! Great amount of books for me to resell
Andria Tyler: Amazing experiences, always!
Elizabeth Rich: Awful.
Stu V: The store is well organized and clean. The availability of general merchandise is limited. The selection of clothing is good. Prices are reasonable and the staff is efficient and friendly.
Zach Harris: Great service 👏 👍 👌 🙌
T H: The prices are average for a thrift shop in a world where thrift shops have universally forgotten they receive their merchandise for free, and the selection is below average but forgivably so. Their lack of a proper return policy - store credit is not acceptable, and most electronics are labeled AS-IS NO RETURNS anyway - coupled with the many visibly broken items (and presumably many invisibly broken items given their poor QC) unfortunately makes this place a total non-starter for me. Given its proximity to my commute route, I will probably stop again in the future, but this isn't a place for which it's worth going out of your way
Jose Becerra: Todo bien
Kris Shannon: Huge selection of clothes, you have to dig around but can often find something good.
Erin Evans: Store needs a remodel, bathroom not working, floors are very stained. One cashier, limited selection
7Ann7 Seven: To share some inside knowledge; When the a.) Managerb.) Volunteerscan......They will take an item for pennies FOR themselves upon opportunity. They get a big discount as "" employees"".
Michelle Taylor: Organized and clean store
Gail Schmidt: Great place to shop.
Russell Gavigan: They have clothing
Google User: Pricey and none of the clothes are organized by size!!!!
Laura: Always fun to shop. Weekly color discounts
Scott Block: I had the most unpleasant experience at this salvation army and will never donate to them again. First, the hours on the google maps app on my iPhone are incorrect. I showed up there just after 9:00 to donate a couch. The couch is in good condition: smoke free and free of rips, tears, and stains. The manager finds me and informs me that they don't open until 10:00. I reply that I only have a couch and would like to drop it off. She responds that they don't open until 10:00 and I have to wait until then to drop it off so she can inspect it properly. I inform her that it's just a couch and it would take 5 minutes to go over. She asks if it's free of stains, rips, or tears. I respond that it is accept that some of the fabric on the underside has come lose. This wasn't good enough for her and states that I can come back at 10:00. I ask to talk to the manager, and she responds that she is the manager. I applaud her effort to represent how giving the Salvation Army is of their time. Please don't make the mistake I did and waste your time dealing with this store.
Ashleigh Sanders: I am from out of state, so I thought the prices were great. Everything was well ordered and the store was very clean.
Miah Johnson: The prices here are outrageous. Maybe it's a great place if you live in the area, but I wouldn't waste gas coming here.
jackie holler: Good spot to shop- clean, organized, nice!
HOK: nice store. nice items.

Bibles For Missions Thrift Center: what do users think?
Graham Wellington: Nice store, but they’re never open. I get it, they’re volunteer run, however if they hired one person full-time to work daily, this would allow them to be open longer and they would more than make up in sales the amount that they’re paying that one employee to keep that store open.
vickie lake: Purchased some great household items today, @ a very reasonable price....great customer service, very clean store....something for everyone!
Jeffery Preston: Love bibles for missions good shopping experience. Used to work there, people are very friendly and good to work with. Even though it is volunteer work.
Teresa Olee: Have always enjoyed shopping here since it opened. However I recently discovered, in a time of crisis, that they don't provide a public restroom. Now I know they aren't required to by law, but it seems to make an exception for a 65 yr old woman in need might be the Christian thing to do.Shameful
Teresa Alexander: The people who volunteer there are all so friendly and helpful! And the thrift store is so clean and organized. I love it!
Juliet Schaafsma: It was closed the day I went
Star: Super friendly people volunteer here. Great finds and the most clean thrift store I have been to in GR!
Christina Welch: So I love thrifting and if have never been to this particular store before and i would say first impression would be wow they got a lot of stuff....overall i would go back as there are ton more stuff to go thru
James Tasker: Was a great place..
Lora Boone: What a nicely laid out storeVery friendly peopleVery positive and uplifting visit for meOh winter coats and boots are half off
Will Katerberg: Great people and fair prices
Jim Schultz: Used books many current authour$.
Irene Munoz: Well , raised their prices , limited days they are open . You can find some nice things there but need to open dressing rooms . You can exchange items with attached tags n receipt but it's a trip back to store .
Kristofer Armstrong: Friendly service!
Consuello: Great deals
Joe Aldrich: Great selection of quality items, very well organized, good prices.
Jack Eubanks: They have alittle bit of everything and the prices r very reasonable
Richelle Johnson: Talk about ripping you off. I'd been eyeballing a spot steam cleaner for a week. It had a 5$ tag on it. When I finally had the 5 I went back and the tag had been rubbed off. The lady at the front, Cindy, couldn't sell it till it was verified. Called me today to tell me 25$. What?!?Lost my business today. Sad.
Ivonne Valle: Nice place, super duper nice staff.
Rhonda Henry: Once again I found a special treasure for myself!! And the staff is truly so friendly and helpful. They make so you want to back again and again. Thanks for being so great!!
McKenzie Reeds: I’m confused how this place expects to make sales when they close at five. The majority of people shopping a second hand store work until five.. when I tried to mention it to the sales lady right as I checked out (a minute after five since I was rushed out the door) she was snappy and said they tried it and it wasn’t worth their while. Maybe you could try cutting costs by having only two people close the small store instead of four..? Anyway I guess I will do as she suggested and come in Saturday morning. With my feisty four year old!

Habitat For Humanity Restore: what do users think?
ric Ric: Hispanic Lady that always works in the mornings changes prices once you go up to her. she’s very rood. I heard from others with the same issues. I left the store empty handed because of how rood she was and she tried to change prices herself.
Harold Bloomer: Easy to work with
Megan Mentalewicz: I got a area rug from here such a steal! I got a living room rug for just 40$ the previous rug we bought was 175$ and our puppy ruined it. We have had this rug for about 6 months now and it's holding up great we have 2 dogs and 1 cat For example.

Erisa kik: the prices on everything is getting to highand not everything is antique
Jessica Fields: My favorite thrift store in grand rapids! Great prices and a big selection. Nice stuff and even dime bins for the not so nice stuff that still could be useful to many who need it!

Robin DeKorne: My new favorite 2cnd hand store! Prices are great, employees friendly and helpful. Only downside is not a huge store so some larger items are occasionally left outside and occasionally get wet 😔....but super bonus is the funds raised go to help pay for patients at Pine Rest so I'm giving them a five star ...look for the big red barn!****Update...they have added a large tent on outside so items are staying dry! Yeah team
SunGlow Smilé DeBiasi: Great deals great quality 75% day saved 80$!! Great deals
Sann Diego: Great place to Thrift, especially if you do a lot of DIY projects
Kylie White: I fall more in love with this place every time I go! I found a well-cared-for dress for a wedding that was only $5 and fit me perfectly, as well as 5 pairs of dress pants for only $15. I have to get them tailored, but c'mon. 5 pairs for $15?! From clothes to jewelry to curtain holdbacks to kitchenwares and beyond, this place is fantastic.
Shawn Rank: This is a decent 2nd hand store to stop at. Glad i discovered this place. Decent stuff for cheap prices
Ro a: poor selection, pricing a bit unreasonable on some items
Tracy Gutierrez: The people are very friendly
Kimberle: This is a great place to check out. You never know what you’re gonna come across. There’s a little of everything and the prices are not ridiculous. It is affordable. There is a worker there that is a little rude to some of the other coworkers. Maybe has a bit of a power trip. But all of the other workers and everybody there is always great. It’s a fun place to check out. I have nothing bad to say about it.
Barb Braun: I have been comen hear for a while now and love it I buy mostly for my grandbabys and my self I love the deals on baby clothes and it's always a great place to go for sure
