Root Canal Specialists Drs. Doering and Selis: what do users think?
Kevin Munson: $1400 for a root canal, they won't treat you without payment first and they don't take state insurance. I guess they don't care like they say they do 🤷
Sondra Thompson: I saw Dr. Selis for my root canal and he did a wonderful job. I explained to him that I normally do not get fully numb which causes me dental anxiety because I have had very bad experiences with other dentists and a lot of pain. It normally takes a ridiculous amount of injections to get me numb if I'm lucky to even get fully numb. It only took Dr. Selis 3 injections I believe and I was completely numb, which to me seems like a miracle. Absolutely no pain during the root canal! He is nice and professional and works quickly which I highly appreciate. Everyone that I met was very nice and the atmosphere was calming, which really helped with my anxiety. I wish he did regular dental work as well because i would absolutely drive over an hour each way if he did, but if I need another root canal in the future he is definitely who I will be going to. I will be recommending him and this office to anyone I know in need of a root canal!
Gia Patterson: If I could give more stars I totally would. Pain free for sure
Michael Sanchez: Had the most wonderful root canal I've ever had here! I've only had one root canal, but still can't get over how quick and painless the procedure was.
Ashley Ramirez: I got a root canal with Dr. Doering in June 2021 and just a few months ago I started having terrible pain in my tooth again. The same pain I felt before getting the root canal. I went to my dentist here in town and he told me my root canal was infected. When I called Dr. Doering’s office, I asked if this mistake could be fixed and covered by them and I was told no, if anything the cost of the retreatment would be more than the actual root canal was originally. I just recently got my root canal retreated and the endodontist here in Saginaw told me that one of my canals was completely missed during the first procedure and that is why it became so infected and started to spread. I traveled from Saginaw to Grand Rapids for Dr. Doering because he could do IV sedation and am very disappointed in the result. A root canal should last far longer than a year and a half.
Kaylyn Hansen: Absolute worst experience I've ever had at a dentist's office; extreme level of unprofessionalism, rudeness and immaturity displayed by Dr. Doering. I was referred by my dentist for a root canal at 14 weeks pregnant and my dentist explained to me that due to a number of reasons, it would make the most sense for the endontist (Dr. Doering) to not only do the root canal, but to fill the tooth same day as well, which he specified on the referral. I told the staff member at Root Canal Specialists exactly what my dentist told me when I booked the appointment, including what was specifically stated on my referral. I was called by the office to confirm my appointment the Friday before and was told my visit would be $371 after my insurance. I assumed this was for the complete dental work that I referred for, which was all to be completed that same day. Came in for my appointment and met Dr. Doering. They performed a couple quick xrays and a tooth vitality test and confirmed the tooth was dead and that I needed a root canal, but that I would need to see my dentist to follow up for a crown after the root canal and a subsequent round of antibiotics to treat the present infection. I explained that my dentist did not want me returning to him for a follow up because he wanted them to do the final step (I did not understand at the time my dentist had specified a FILLING on my referral, NOT a crown) and that all that information had been clarified on my referral, Which Dr. Doering claimed he had no copy of. I suggested that Dr. Doering call my dentist's office to clarify what the referral said. (My dentist's office later told me that they always send a copy of the referral to the practitioner they are referring to), but he ignored me. Dr. Doering was very snippy and said a crown would could several hundred dollars more, which I confessed I was not financially prepared to pay on the spot, in addition to the $371 I already paid at the front desk. Dr. Doering said that we needed to reschedule the appointment due to the 'miscommunication.' I explained I had driven a long way to get to this appointment and I did not want to reschedule, so just to go ahead with the root canal and I would follow up with my dentist for the remainder of the treatment plan. I expressed that I was frustrated that there was such poor communication between his office and my dentist regarding the referral and that I thought I was coming in for the full treatment that was specified on my referral, as I outlined in my phone call upon booking the appointment. At that point, Dr. Doering flipped out and exclaimed that he was, "done" and he felt "uncomfortable" and that the front desk would refund my money but he was not going to do any dental work on me and stormed out of the room. I was so shocked. I stated I would be filing complaints with the BBB and the dentistry board and only then did Dr. Doering try to backtrack and ask me to come into his office to 'discuss' the matter and requesting I reschedule my appointment. I told him I had no interest in speaking to him further and that I would certainly not be coming back. As someone who managed medical practices for years and has worked with all sorts of physicians, I have NEVER seen or heard of any such level of unprofessionalism as what I experienced today at the hands of Dr. Doering. Talk about a frail ego and absolutely terrible patient care. I would NEVER ever recommend this practice to anyone.
Rachel Laven: From the front office staff to Dr. Selis that performed my root canal everything was very professional. Dr. Selis' assistant Collin Orchard went through explaining what was going to happen and made sure I was comfortable. Dr. Selis was kind and patient in answering all our questions and concerns. The procedure was quick, painless and I have had no more issues involving that tooth.
Gary Culver: The Dr's are rock star's in their profession... I have terrible anxiety when it comes to putting needles in my mouth and I absolutely no pain what so ever. Don't put yours off no longer. These Dr's know what they're doing...
Charles Lake: This place is great. I didn't feel a thing and the staff constantly checked to make sure I was comfortable and talked to me while waiting to help keep me distracted. They even did a follow-up to make sure everything was good later after the procedure. This is the place I will go to if I ever need another root canal.
Shell Chell: Went in for my root canal today. Of course, root canals are no fun but, let me tell you something! Dr.Doering and his assistant Dari were so welcoming. They made sure I was comfortable and explained everything thoroughly, every detail. I felt no pain even when numbing. Quick and efficient, and explain after care well. I had a very pleasant experience, I’m impressed!
FarfallaEffect: From car to lobby back to car within an hour. Root canal itself took less than 10 minutes with zero pain. The Doctor gave me jerky too. Cool people. Great place.
Deb Goebel: Best root canal I've had out of three, so far. Best experience and shortest amount of time for the process. Dr. Doering talked through it so I knew "how much longer." Loved the check in computer available for digital paperwork. Receipt available at check-out. Follow up phone call about 90 minutes later. Well done. Hopefully I won't need another root canal, but if I do, I'm coming back. Thanks!
Megan Hamel: I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here! I was nervous coming in, but the friendliness of the staff really put my mind at ease. I was in the chair for maybe an hour and felt no pain or discomfort during the procedure. The most uncomfortable part was the numbing injection, but it was over in a moment. Dr. Doering explained everything he was going to do before he did it and his wonderful assistant really helped ease my worries while waiting for the numbing to take effect. I am also appreciative of the help that was offered to me beyond the root canal procedure; it would have been easy to simply send me on my way with an order to get my wisdom teeth removed faster, but he really went above and beyond by offering to recommend me to places that would be able to help me sooner than my current surgeon. All around swell place and one I strongly recommend!
Stephen Best: They were able to squeeze me in for a root canal when my abscess had quickly developed, and walked me through the whole process addressing any questions I had. Great customer service and immediate resolution of my pain. They were very helpful!
Adam Nook: Can’t recommend this place enough. The office is very nice and clean. The staff is super professional and are great at what they do.
Trena Campbell: This place is amazing and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs root canals done. The assistants work very well with the Doctors and everyone makes you feel very comfortable. Not to mention at the end of the day they truly care by giving a phone call just for checking up on ya. I will never go to another root canal specialist. Thank you!
Sarah Candela: Let's start off by saying my fear of the dentist alone is next level, so when I was told I had to get a root canal I started sweating bullets. Luckily, my experience was so good I wouldn't mind going back for another (but please don't make me). The assistant, Kayla, and I hit it off right off the bat and she was already playing music (thank goodness because I forgot my headphones!), and it was right up my alley! It took significantly less time than I expected for a 4 rooted tooth and I was happy to have music to tap my fingers along to! Thank you to the staff for the level of efficiency and comfort!
Megan Ann: The doctor and his assistant were both very kind. They constantly made sure I was comfortable and it was much quicker and easier than I thought it would be.
Cassie Speck: They are incredible. The entire process was great for my anxiety, and I left happy and pain free. The appointment went so smooth and they let you know exactly how long you have left.
evonna Price: Staff was very nice, especially Dari! The overall experience was amazing. 5 star service!
Jessica Rowley: Dr. Doering was wonderful!! The office has called me yesterday and today to see how I am recovering. I would HIGHLY recommend their office for any work you need done. I have pretty high anxiety about dental procedures and they made me feel so comfortable!

Halvorson & Hembrough Endodontics Exclusively: what do users think?
William Richards: I was always afraid of getting a root canal, but these guys are top notch amazing. I can’t stress enough how professional they are. From making sure that I didn’t feel anything while they did their work, they actually called me the next day in checking to see how I was doing. If you need specialized work done, you need to check out this exclusive endodontics.
Carmelita Bailey: Top notch care! After horrible care from our primary dentist (we no longer have), we insisted on seeing someone else. My husband was sent to Halvorson & Hembrough and received the upmost care from Dr Halvorson. Unfortunately there was nothing he could do to save my husband's tooth because of severe infection our primary dentist ignored. Dr Halvorson made sure that my husband didn't leave there without helping him. Setting him up with emergency care the same day from an oral surgeon. They truly felt bad for what my husband had experienced. If only we would of seen them sooner!
Jessica Norden: The endodontist and team that worked with me are great.
Adam Ikamas: Had a lot of trepidation with my first root canal and did a lot of internet research on how it would go. The reviews on this page helped my anxiety quite a bit so I thought I would add my review. I completely agree with the other reviews on here. It was as smooth and painless as it could possibly be. A ton of Novocaine and the nitrous gas I think I may have fallen asleep for part of it. I will have much less stress if I ever have to get another root canal, I know where I will go for it. Thank you!
jennifer mullins: Dr. Halvorson made my experience very comforting. Explained step by step what he was doing. Root canal went a lot smoother then I thought it would. All the staff was friendly too! I'm very glad my dentist referred me to him. Thank you!
DJ Moore: Great place to have a root canal done Dr Hembrough and Melanie did a great job in making me feel comfortable. The guy in the front office was very friendly as well.
Jaime Getliff: I was referred by my dentist here and they did a great job on my root canal!
Steve Lachniet: Very happy with my experience. Doctors and staff were very friendly and efficient. I felt my comfort level was important to them. Would recommend them to friends and family.
Bryan Bartosik: Squeezed me in same day . Staff and Dr. Halvorson could not have been more helpful. Wonderful experience!! Walked in with a terrible tooth ache. Walked out free from pain. Seriously grateful.
Danielle Magoon: My comfort mattered. My pain level mattered. A plan for my situation mattered to them too. Empathy matters. I'm very pleased with the service I received here!
Jacci Wolff: Root canal went super smooth. The doc guy (forgot his name) was super polite and friendly and seemed very efficient at his work. Ladies were all friendly and gave a comforting atmosphere.
Josh Von Werewolf: Though the Doctor was nice. I would say coming here for this procedure was a mistake. The didn't schedule me correctly for wheat I needed with my referral. Made me feel like I was an inconvenience because of their misscheduling time. I was also charged twice the amount I was quoted. They said It'll be about $220 something if the have to do one tooth $450 or so if they have to do two. Leaving I paid over $800 because they said they have to do 2 at once. A. I had to come back to finish the procedure B. If you have to do two at once then you are saving costs so it shouldn't cost double its called shared labor. Anyway I realize now going here was a mistake. I will reiterate the Doctor who performed the procedure seems like a nice guy and did seem to care about my extreme discomfort but over all I was unhappy with my experience.
Josh B: Excellent experience, good doctor, very tolerant of all my questions about the procedure. If I need another root canal I will be going back.

He was communicative and thoughtful, and made sure to explain what he would be doing and to check in with me along the way to make sure I was comfortable. Patricia at the front desk was also helpful in answering my questions and making me feel like I was being taken care of. Easy five stars from me!
A T: The staff are very friendly, the office is clean and beautiful. Dr. Albeiruti has such a compassionate, personal, and downright kind approach towards his patients and is a true expert at his craft. I had a root canal and he took such care to make sure I wasn't in pain at any juncture. He answered all my questions thoroughly, providing clear explanations. Grand River Endodontics / Endodontists Grandville MI: what do users think?
Jean Erm: I have had multiple root canals at other places. The day my tooth flared up I knew I needed a root canal, but was frustrated to have to wait several days to see a dentist, then the surgeon my dentist referred me to was going to make me wait another 10 days.I was really disappointed and just wanted it done so I decided to call around & found Grand River Endodontics. They got me in the next afternoon.Turns out I had a very complicated root canal with a very deep root, and other curved, split roots. They took their time and stayed late to do the job right.Yes, we were all thankful when it was finally done, but after my husbands last root canal somewhere else that missed some and he had to have it re-done, I was so thankful for the care and thoroughness here. They did offer nitrous and a warm blanket, while I didn’t use either I was thankful for the kindness and encouragement I received throughout. Afterwards, knowing that it was a more difficult procedure than usual & that might cause a more difficult recovery, they gave me pain meds in the office along with calling in a prescription for stronger pain meds.I was treated well and given excellent care. I would go here again in the future.
Elyse Gregory: Calm, relaxed atmosphere. Dr. Masterson answered all of my questions before my procedure and informed me of what she was doing throughout. Absolutely pain free. 10/10 recommended!
Corey Rusch: I have been lucky to have some of the best dentists over the years and was referred here for a special procedure. I couldn't have been happier with the experience. Super friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff here. I will be recommending them to all my friends and family!
Carly Marker: Dr. Masterson and her staff were wonderful to work with! Everyone was very knowledgeable and helped ease my nerves.
Jan Harper: When I called to make an appointment for a root canal I told them I was very anxious about having any dental work. My dentist told me to make sure I let them know. They assured me that they did everything they could to make you comfortable. Warm blankets, and headphones. I was not offered either one of these. I asked for nitrous oxide to help me relax. They dropped the mask on my nose and left. I told them it wasn't sealed right on my nose so it wasn't doing any good. They turned it up. It still wasn't doing any good. It never did do any good. She said "not getting you high enough"? I resent that. It was an awful experience and will not have it done again. I'd rather have the tooth pulled. I don't like paying $1000 for dental work and I sure don't like paying for nitrous oxide that just blew into the room and did absolutely nothing for my anxiety.
Anna Frantz: I went in yesterday 7/20/20 for my first root canal... I have been suffering since September with my tooth and finally decided enough already. So happy I did, last night I realized I can once again have something cold, room temperature and even hot touch my tooth and I no longer go thru the roof in pain😁😁😁 still tender to bite and jaw is swallen and a little sore but I'll take that over the previous any day cause that I know will go away very soon!!! Thanks a million Dr Sarah Lennan Masterson!!!
James Farris: Generally I am nervous about any trip for dental work, but Dr. Masterson immediately put me at ease. Her touch was so light and gentle that I comfortably went through the procedure. The staff was very amenable and contributed greatly to the relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend Grand River Endodontics and especially Dr. Sarah Masterson!
Colleen Christian: Awesome staff and dentist! Painless and simple root canal. Great location too.
C Herrema: Terrific care and chair side manner. I was quite anxious visiting and the root canal was actually much easier than I had anticipated. Very professional and efficient. I certainly recommend this doctor and team.
Dean Rosendall: This Doc and her team have been nothing short of A+ Players. I have referred multiple patients, including my Dad (Have you scene Grumpier Old Men?) and he too left very impressed. My sister told me she even experienced a bit of pre procedure anxiety and how Sarah and her staff were extremely comforting and helpful and it went great. A very strong balance of knowledge and wisdom in this office, and a BIG thanks!
Mr Flamingo: I had a great experience! They listened carefully to what I had to say. They explained the situation clearly and answered questions. Communication is key, and they were spot on.
Martha Brito: I was referred to Dr. Lennan's office because it was conveniently located close to my house. I needed to have a root canal done. Everything went fine, it seemed, my regular dentist noted it was odd that she had missed putting in the little insert in my molar before applying the temporary filling. The molar right next to the one she treated got infected and I was told I needed a second root canal. This molar had never had any cavities, or treated for anything, I didn't forsee anything going wrong. Her nurse assitant did the preliminary evaluation, after looking at the new x rays and seeing that the small absess had completely healed and I had no pain during the exam, she doubted I needed the root canal, and told me she wanted to double check with Dr. Lennan. She came in, and swiftly said "yep, you need the root canal." They gave me the anesthesia and while I waited for it to kick in, I overheard the Dr. having a conversation with a former patient who insisted she had pain and sensitivity in a tooth Dr Lennan had treated. Dr. lennan dismissed this poor lady's attempts at explaining her what she felt. This conversation went on for a long time. When she finally came to where I was and started treating my molar, she started to talk with her assistants about the patient who had just left , and even made fun of her while treating me. I thought it was so unprofessional and uncompassionate of her to laugh at a patient. I couldn't say anything because she was treating me.She did the root canal and proceeded to insert the little filaments (I don't know what is the correct term for this). She did one fine, then she had troubles with the second one and kept complaining how she didn't know why it would curl up on her, and attempted several times to insert it. She then left and her assistsnt told me that I was almost done, and that the dr would finally close up and then we would do more x rays. The dr came back but she didn't close my molar, she drilled it away instead, so much that she went under my gum and I had to squeeze her arm and tell her I was in pain. She didn't tell me what she was doing, or why, she just went on and kept on drilling away. It was awful. She closed it, we did more x rays, but she physically blocked them from me, so I wouldn't be able to see what she had done. Because You could see on the earlier x rays that the molar had healed. She then told me that she actually would recommend me to have that molar extracted because she had to go in too deep, and made it impossible to be repaired. I was just silent and mad, so she asked me if I understood what she was saying, and I said yes. "I understand that my molar didn't have any cavities or repairs and that you destroyed it and this is why you want me to have it extracted" - she said that wasn't the case, and that she would give me a 50% discount for the job she had done that morning and tried to convince me again that she had done the right treatment. I kept saying that I came with a healthy molar and that she had destroyed it. She even suggested I could have her do a surgery where she would cut through my gum and cut the tips of the roots. I mean the same person who had just destroyed my molar was suggesting to cut my gum. Yes, please, I need you to further the destruction.I asked what was the point in doing that if she had barely left any molar to repair, besides the surgery wasn't cheap (in the thousands) and I have no insurance. She insisted I should have that molar extracted then. The conversation was going nowhere, so I still paid and left. I wrote to my dentist when I got home and they called me right away, and asked me to be seen, so he could asses what has happened and see if he would be able to restore what was left. Dr Lennan also called my dentist's office to tell them that it was a difficult root canal she had to do, and that she wasn't going to charge me any money for that ( I had already paid, and she knew it) and told my dentist she would even do the surgery for free. The whole ordeal was a nightmare. I am still having issues with that molar.
Kristin Moag: Dr. Lennan and her staff are wonderful. They take great care of their patients and make your visit as pleasant as possible. Each patient is treated as if you are the only one in the room. Very much appreciated!
