Legacy Stables and Karin’s Horse Connection: what do users think?
Ron DeYoung: Had a great place for horses and horseshoes at the doom
Amanda R: I took my daughter for a trail ride for her birthday. The instructor was wonderful! She was patient, helpful, and made the time so special and fun. So much more than just riding a horse - you also brush the horse, learn basic commands, walk with your horse, and give them a treat! Highly recommend!
Aubree Anderson: My daughter had her 4th birthday here yesterday. She LOVED it.We had about 8 kids and 2 horses. I definitely recommend doing 2. They had the older kids at the party doing tricks on the bigger pony. The two people leading the party were great with the kids! The heated space upstairs is small, but a good place to warm up. I’m not sure how we would’ve handle more people there. We had a lot of adults there though…aunts/uncles/ grandma & everyone’s parents. So about 16 adults. We will definitely be back to do kinderpony lessons!
Jakara Love: Had my daughters 2nd birthday there and she absolutely loved it !
Kimberly Lodewyk: We love this place. Very friendly people. My mom has dementia and we will be bringing her there for the amazing gracet o pet the horses and spend some time outdoors.
cheryl Klocke: Absolutely loved this activity! This was a great opportunity for our 5 year old grand child to get exposed to horses and to experience this for the first time. We definitely will be pursuing other events offered by legacy to entertain her interests and love for horses and in riding them. Thank you for a great experience.
Ksenia Derouin: We had a great time!
Adam Kadzban: Awesome experience for my niece. Everyone was extremely friendly and engaging and we got to see so many horses and ponies!
katelyn gettel: My sister and I did a drop in lesson today on a whim. We had Claudia as our instructor. It was so much fun. The atmosphere there is great.
Jennifer Kline: We had my daughter’s birthday party there, and it was amazing! The kids all loved it! Everyone we came in contact with were so kind. We will be back for sure.
Megan Rizzo: Our daughter had a wonderful birthday party experience! At 3, we thought she might be worried, and most of her friends were. But the staff was so good and all the kids participated and loved it. They kept us busy for nearly 2 hours, so we didn't really need all the entertainment we brought. Worth every penny, thank you Legacy Stables! We will be back!
Rachel Mullins: Gateway to Horses was perfect! Sad the class ended, but we'll be back for more!
Andrew Shier: Amazing barn with amazing staff :)
Camryn Curtis: It is such a sad place and horrible for the horses I wish you would give them more food… VERY skinny.
Kinsey Staver: Great experience! Had a 7 year-old with me and I was nervous about how that might go given her age and size, but they put her on an appropriately sized horse and she was accompanied by a guide for the entire duration of the experience, so she was very safe and well taken care of. The two of us had a great time and will definitely be back. Thank you so much!!
Marie N: Staff was 100% attentive, made children feel at ease. Helmets were sanitized and carefully chosen. The ponies were sweet, saddles good for small children. The ride was inside and out on the trail. It ended with a short gallop. Kids and family were happy!
Boldt Preserve: Handled our rowdy group of 23 with patience. Our Girl Scout Troop had a wonderful time and learned a lot. Thanks!
Annie lynn-le: I went here with my son. We had so much fun. We did the one hr ride. He had Diamond, & I had Daisy. Both beautiful horses and well trained. Since we hadn't riden in quite awhile our guide helped us emensly. Her name was Claudia. She was super friendly, well versed into the horses and just very kind. Taking her time to ensure we felt safe with our horses. The place is very well kept and beautiful. You can tell these people take care of their place, their customers and the horses. We will be returning again for another ride soon for sure. Was an absolute great experience. If your looking to ride I'd give this place a definite try!! Thank you for helping us and letting me & my son share and enjoy your beautiful horses . I'm beyond thankful and appreciate your hospitality. Dillin and I will definitely be back again. Memories made for a lifetime here. Happy customer. Ty
fatumata kanuteh: My son had the best time ever today on his pony ride. Paige was AMAZING and so patient with my 4 year old. She answered all his questions and made sure he was comfortable the entire time. Will definitely be back !
Melody Hoffer: Had a wonderful time! The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and professional. The horses were sweet amd easy going. We loved being able to spend time getting to know our horses before riding the trails. We learned a lot and will definitely come back soon!
Shay Rae: My son and his father went for the horseback riding. My sons first time on a horse, he loved it! His horse wasn’t cooperating so he couldn’t steer it on his own but he understood. Giving them their carrot treat at the end was the icing on the cake !!

Cindy Schleh: This barn is amazing! Sarah teaches the girls not only riding, but the work that goes into the upkeep and care of the horses and barn. It is also a team atmosphere where we all pitch in and route each other on. Can’t say enough good things!

toxic bro: Love this place
Kena Troupe: Everything was going very well the first two months, after a while I really got to see my instructors true colors and so did my parents so we stopped taking lessons there. The staff other than Janine, is very sweet and fun but in my opinion Janine is rlly moody and she tries to argue with me all the time when I share an opinion about how I feel. She always thinks she is right!!! She once told me to dress conservatively but she wear spandex shorts to give lessons to little kids. SHE ALWAYS ON HER PHONE!!! We payed her 40 dollars a lesson and she still had the nerve to have attitude with us. DO NOT GO HERE FOR LESSONS, she starts so much drama and DOES talk behind your back
Julia Hamming: My daughter started taking lessons at a later age (16) and has thrived under the instruction she receives. The staff is very helpful with beginners learning all the ins and outs of tacking and caring for the horses. Other parents and older students are very helpful to me as a parent who has a lot to learn as well.I highly recommend this facility if you are looking for a place to feel like part of the family from the first moment you arrive on the property.
Bruce Almighty: Top Notch, Janine is fabulous and takes great care in every way.
Megan Elgersma: Just started lessons with Janine & very pleased , she's a very good trainer shes patient with beginners ! very well mannered horses to take lessons on. Barn is very well kept. Has a nice indoor arena. Janine is very encouraging. Love taking lessons with her !
Kathryn McCreary: Wonderful barn. Welcoming staff. Well trained horses. Jeanine is a wonderful trainer.
Dream And Dream Marketing: I am extremely satisfied with the riding lessons! My daughter's lessons are a joy. There's an indoor arena for those times the Michigan weather is cold or damp. My daughter loves being at her lessons and the staff is warm, welcoming, and friendly. My daughter actually learns real riding, not just play. I recommend Serenity Farm to anyone needing their services.
Thomas Nawrocki: Great instruction.
Lori Plakos: Serenity Farm is what the name implies, SERENITY. My dreams came true when God brought me to this farm, to work with, and be part of this wonderful family! It's a tranquil environment with maintained grounds, spacious pastures and a very large grassy area for leisure grazing. Our horses are fed both first and second cutting hay five times per day and Buckeye complete feed twice a day with free choice water 24/7. Horses are turned out daily except in severe weather conditions which are monitored very closely. With the owner living on the premises, a late night check is done where horses are given more hay and their water topped up. This added perk is something management feels very strongly about for the prevention of ulcers and other gastric issues horses are prone to if they are not kept grazing. The owner is a very intelligent, friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable horse-woman. Her instruction in dressage, jumping and basic horsemanship is impeccable and she goes to great lengths to make sure her farm is a "happy place", which is exactly what Serenity farm is for me!
Cindy Bartman: I have been a Serenity boarder for almost two years. This is my forever barn. I have made many close friends here and my horses get the best of care. This endless harassment of our barn is ridiculous and says volumes more about the character flaws of the person on this crazy vendetta than anything else. The owners children are sweet and well behaved and a part of our wonderful family. While I rode today the little one was out sledding down the little hill outside the barn. Perfect Sunday afternoon. If you are looking for a home for you and your horse come out and meet us and judge for yourself. Who in the world would pick a barn for their horse based on an internet google review anyway. Just to be clear...my warmblood is fed great grain twice a day and then gets almost a bale of hay a day at NO EXTRA CHARGE. I have no idea how the owner does that for the board that I pay. It is awesome! Don't be misled by craziness!!
Kathryn juh: Serenity Farm has been my home away from home for the past 5 years. My horse is a happy healthy senior and gets lots of extra special attention from owner, staff and fellow boarders. I have become a far more confident and accomplished horsewoman through lessons, clinics and the wonderful comradeship that is present at Serenity.
Chris Potter: Serenity has been my home away from home for my horse and I for over five years. There are so many occasions that my horse's well being and my horsemanship education has been enhanced by the owner and caring staff. Being a part of the Serenity community has been a truly wonderful experience
Serenity Farm LLC: Horses are given TOP care at this farm and my horse has never been happier and healthier! The comradeship and ethics of the barn and all who run it are superb!!! Keep up the good work Serenity!!!!

Detersmination Equestrian Center: what do users think?
Rosalia Beery: What a wonderful place! Great outdoor space, friendly atmosphere.
Nichole Gawron: I highly recommend detersmination farm!! Dale and Gabrielle work hard and really care about the horses. They have done a terrific job helping me rehab my belgian gelding that I pulled from the kill pen. They went out of their way to accommodate us during a very busy time in their life. Not only has my horse reached and maintained a healthy weight, his wounds have healed up beautifully thanks to their care and attention. They have a lot of knowledge and are very down to earth. I would definitely recommend this boarding facility.
Paige Jorgensen: This review is strictly of the farm board offered off site with Gabrielle Deters, I cannot speak to the quality of the Equestrian Center.I had two geldings (4yo and 15yo) boarded at the Deters’ farm from June 2020 to August 2020 and I wish I never would have taken them there. I found out a few months ago I was still dealing with repercussions from their time at this facility. My horses were both in good condition when brought to the facility and it took 2 months at this farm to become significantly malnourished. Photos listed with dates. When I inspected the farm and asked questions ahead of time I was told there would be no more than 4 horses per pasture and by the time I pulled the boys there were 8. I was also told they would not be fed on the ground and when I went to see my boys I found the horses all eating from piles of grain in the dirt. There was also a burn pile full of trash within the pasture at one point during their stay. When I brought up that my older boy was starting to look ribby she passed it off as stress due to the heat that summer. I asked her to increase grain, but it was clear the horses were never watched or separated for graining and the food was tossed in piles in the dirt. My horses were not the only ones there in poor condition by the time I removed them. My older horse had also clearly developed significant diarrhea and I was not notified; so much so that he developed pelvic limb edema and fecal scald. As soon as I realized how terrible the care was, I removed my horses ASAP. I should have said more to the owner, but I was so disappointed and just wanted to get them out of there. My equine dentist had been out just prior to my boys going to board here and all was good. During their annual dental this year I found out that due to the poor hay quality from this facility. The older of the two had sticks stuck in between the teeth and weakening of the periodontal ligament due to this, which can lead to premature tooth loss in horses. Fortunately we were able to treat them and they are back on track. I was devastated to discover that subjecting them to 2 months of boarding in Nunica was still causing issues.I would avoid the farm board at all costs as I have never seen such poor care and my horses have never looked as badly as they did after only 2 months there. I am a veterinary professional and can only describe what was done to my horses as complete neglect. They are both in good health again today, but I don’t want others to put their horses through the same thing. I strongly encourage looking elsewhere for farm/pasture board.
Johanna Sutherland: My horse and I had a great experience boarding here! I recently moved him closer to where I live, but if I could've moved closer I definitely would have kept him here! The owners are great and the other boarders are all friendly and very helpful. I'm a first time horse owner and the others gave me such good advice! I was invited on trail rides and it helped my horse and I feel at home. Lessons were affordable, along with the board, Gabe really helped me out, she speaks her mind and that helped me more than she'll know, she didn't candy coat stuff, she cut right down on the issues and I liked that. Also while being there my horse needed to gain weight and they told me what to buy and added it to his feedings for me and he looks great now!We will miss it here!Thank you for everything you guys!Johanna and Manny/Manor.
Kate Wildey: Home away from home 😉
Ames: My children have taken lessons with Gabe on their horses on and off for over 5 years. My son has some mild physical and processing challenges and Gabe is very patient teaching him. I have taken classes, too. Sometimes even adults need a refresher on figuring out a new horse. You can take lessons in English, Western and cart/driving. You can take your lessons on any kind of horse. I have had my Paso Fino, Paint, Standardbred and Quarter Horse out there for lessons. Gabe is very knowledgeable about many breeds of horses, mules and draft. The paddocks are spacious, horses are on dirt and grass, shelters. lots of fresh air. DEC has a big out round pen, nice stalls and huge indoor arena with good footing.Gabe and Ruth run a very responsible barn and manage the horses extremely well. Excellent care and knowledge. When I retirement from managing my own farm, DEC is my backup plan for caring for my horses.
alyssa choate: Brought my 3 girls, with no horse experience, here for a horse orientation and riding lesson. Ruth was amazing with them and told them all about the horses, working at the barn, and got my nervous little ones up and riding in no time! She was wonderful and they are begging to go back! Can't recommended this place highly enough. Ruth really seems to love what she does and takes great care of the horses.
Susan Sample: I cannot say enough about my barn family. I am so happy at Detersmination Equestrian Center (DEC) enjoying my horse compulsion, and both the owner Ruth and trainer Gabe do not encourage withdrawal!!!! I love this place, and will be there as long as I am able to have a horse!!!!!! Ruth is downright intuitive about horse care, knowing when a food increase or decrease will provide the horse optimum health. She really cares, and we can see that enthusiasm in every shiny horse and every happy horse owner!!! I love the daily turnout, where every horse gets to be a herd-horse for at least 8 hours a day! Gabe is our trainer, with so much experience we are lucky to be her students!!! DEC will always be the place where I want to be!!!
