The Lafayette House: what do users think?
Courtney Broadhead: The house was beautiful and the owners keep it looking very nice and clean. Skyelar was such an amazing hostess and made us feel very welcome. Susan Demeuse: My daughter stayed there to be close to Butterworth Hospital. It was very neat and clean.
Sasha Azanov: We had a wonderful stay at the Lafayette House this weekend! Skylar was very accommodating and hospitable. The house is beautiful and the breakfast was fantastic. Thanks so much! We will definitely come back if we have the chance.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Chad Coleman: The accomodations are exceptional, the breakfast is exquisite, and the host is warm and welcoming. I can't wait to come back!Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Rosie Avolio-Toly: The owners/hosts are so lovely and welcoming. Check in is easy. The home is historic and beautiful. We loved our spacious room, and the beautiful bathtub in it. A/C worked well and we enjoyed having the TV as an option. All the extra details--from cold bottled water, to soy yogurt at breakfast or a coffee keurig in the room--made this an excellent stay. And the breakfast was delicious!!!
John Richards: Beautiful home, wonderful host and great breakfasts. Great location for walking to many downtown restaurants, breweries and activities.
Rob D: I used to live in the Heritage Hill neighborhood for a couple of years and I really wanted to show my girlfriend what it was like to live there and how nice the area was. This was my first stay at a Bed & Breakfast and it greatly exceeded my expectations. Firstly, the location is great; close to the highway, in a nice neighborhood, and within walking distance of downtown, the Wealthy St District, and the Bridge St District if you don't mind strolling through neighborhoods for 20 minutes or so. The living space, dining room, and sunroom are decorated in a very modern yet homely manner. The breakfast was amazing--Skyelar made delicious perfectly cooked over-medium eggs inside bell pepper slices with some of the most delicious bacon I've ever had and sesame seed toast for our first breakfast and she made the crispiest yet fluffiest waffle with sausage links for breakfast number two. I was planning on enjoying some of my favorite local spots for breakfast but hers was just too delicious to pass up. We stayed in Room 2 which was very nice. It had a window air-conditioning unit with thermostat which is very common of Heritage/Cherry Hill Homes, the bed was king size and very comfortable, and the bathroom was stunning. The room was very large and had more than enough room for all of our belongings. The only caveat for this stay was that parking was tight and limited. There is only enough room for 1 car per room and it is diagonally next to their house in a pretty tight area so you better be confident at backing your care out onto Lafayette St. However, there is free street parking outside the house albeit with limited hours and availability. All in all I would highly recommend this B&B for anybody looking for a stay in Grand Rapids. Skyelar was a great host and when I visit Grand Rapids in the future this will be one of the first accommodations I check availability for. Cheers!
Laurie Gebert: The whole house is beautifully appointed, and Room #2 features a very comfortable bed and an amazing spa shower. Breakfast was delicious and satisfying. Above all else, Skylar was so welcoming, and we enjoyed her (and her children’s) company during breakfast!
Erin Schmandt: My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend. The house is beautiful and historic. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and well appointed. Skylar was friendly and made us a delicious breakfast each morning. We highly recommend staying here when you’re in the city.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 5/5 …More
Chris: Perfectly restored house with amazing breakfast
Kendra Lynn: We will definitely be back! We loved the experience! Awesome place!
Scott Lynn: A beautiful home run by a beautiful family. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and unique and breakfast was amazing. We will be returning!
robles ricardo: Great experience.
Alexander Hansen: My wife and I have stayed at several bed and breakfast locations in the area before and came across Lafayette House by an internet search. I only wish that we had been recommended the location many months prior.First let me mention the location itself: The home is very historic and has been kept in extremely good condition. One of our hosts actually lived there as a child and his parent's passed on the home to the host/hostess. The grounds are exceptional and every room has been customized to make you feel comfortable and at home. The owners are more than happy to share with you stories of the history and some interesting tid-bits of the area. Our Hosts: Let me start off with saying that hospitality and customer service are some of the main items of focus in the hotel industry. Bed and Breakfasts are certainly no different, but they hold an added importance over just your stand hotel because you create a connection with the other guests and with your hosts. The hosts of Lafayette House are extremely warm and welcoming. They welcome you into their home as if you are family. My wife and I were enjoying a great breakfast chatting with one of the hosts when their little 3 year old walked into the dining room and it was just like visiting the inlaws. The home is filled with a warmth of love and care that comes from folks that are not just keen to the hospitality industry, but are full of sincere kindness. We look forward to staying at the Lafayette House again and sincerely recommend it as a great place to park your bags while you visit Grand Rapids.
leanne spiegel: What a lovely old home in the historic district. Skylar and Todd were such gracious hosts. The bedroom was extremely clean and spacious with a wonderful shower. Enjoyed our unique breakfast. Loved the warm Family atmosphere.Rooms: 5/5 …More
Michael Henderson: Everything you would want in a B&B.Thank you for being such good hosts.
John Murphy: This is an astoundingly great B & B which has the added benefit of being within walking distance of downtown (have to climb a hill coming back). The owner was raised here and they turned it into a B&B about 7 years back. The bedroom was very spacious and clean, and the breakfast. Wow. It was an unexpected gourmet surprise. Very delicious and way beyond what we expected. We will definitely be staying here next time we are in Grand Rapids.
Christy English: Lafayette House is a gem in a beautiful historic district. Loved all the small touches. A beautiful home with lovely hosts. Great location. Walking distance to event and dinner locations. Recommend!
David Cann: Great hosts (kind and accommodating), great room (clean and comfortable) and great price (fair and affordable). I would come back again.Rooms: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Location: 4/5 …More
