Ovelisa Jimenez: nice
Marcia Boyce: The owner, staff and instructors are great! Diane at the front desk is amazing and my children look forward to their lessons and love their instructors!
Lindsay Sisson: We were immensely grateful for the piano lessons and instruction that our son received with Mr. Keith. We were also pleased with the efficient communication from the Academy of Music as it related to recitals and updates within the Academy of Music student portal. Thank you!
Mike Dyer: Diane at the front desk is awesome…always welcoming and helpful with questions. The instructors are very good and my daughter has really enjoyed her lessons after starting with the ukulele last summer. Thank you!!
Jessica Hedeman: Great place to get kids engaged in music.. they are very accomodating and welcoming of all levels. Fun atmosphere...
Andrew Cloutier: My son really enjoyed his piano lessons. The instructor was knowledgeable and kind.
Balaji Vutla: Good school to learn piano.
Hues & Scapes Interior Design Studio: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueExcellent teaching, high level of professionalism, great opportunities for children to perform.
Samantha Reynolds: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueWe really enjoy the education that Justin provides… Not only does he want his students to learn but also enjoy piano. We also appreciate knowing the history/theory. I feel you learn better if you know the why as well as the how
Rachel Smith: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueThe front desk staff is so helpful and friendly! And we have been so happy with our children’s piano lessons with Mr. Justin.
Betsy Weber: My daughter has been taking lessons with Annie at Academy Of Music for almost 4 years. The instruction and guidance have been invaluable. My daughter’s love for vocal music has grown along with her talent and technique. Now in high school, she plans on pursuing music as her major in college. Thank you so much Academy of Music for making my daughter’s dreams come true!
Jenny Chen: Great teachers and staffs !
Abigail Brown: My daughter really enjoys her lessons every week. And even though she is barely 5 and is a bit wiggly during lessons, her teacher handles it with grace and she has learned a lot in 3 months and loves everything about violin.
carrie benchich: We have a great experience at Academy of Music GR! My daughter enjoyed her lessons and not only improved musically but gained confidence in herself.
Muneeba Khan: Pricey but excellent service and some great instructors.
Tanya Mayor: Incredible place for my child to grow in her music skills!!!
Victor Jammal: This academy of music is a great place for learning the craft, and they helped me make the transition into high-level classical piano, where I am now. Enough said.
Ali Bendert: The Academy of Music offers exactly what we were looking for in piano lessons for our young daughter. Music Moves is a child-based pedagogy that teaches children music the way children learn a language: a lot of exposure to music and patterns, opportunities for experimentation, and an emphasis on listening and developing the ear rather than trying to read music right off the bat. We feel so blessed that we were able to find Miss Tracy at the Academy of Music and we recommend her and the Academy to anyone who is looking!
Ashley Smith: We love Academy of Music my son is 7 and has been attending for over a year now taking drum lessons with Mr Garrett. He is so patient with my son and rolls with the changes. The make up class options are an awesome option as well for when you can make class. Matt the director has been amazing as well at answering questions and so is the front desk staff.
Gwendolyn Higby: My daughter has been taking music lessons through AOM for two years now. The teachers and staff are patient, friendly and work with students to help them learn at their pace and challenge them to be their best. We have really enjoyed classes here and would recommend classes here for sure.
Suzette C: My kids enjoy their instructors very much! They actually practice regularly without prompting!

Riverside Guitar School: what do users think?
Maria Bostic: My 9 year old thoroughly enjoyed the homeschool class they offer! Friendly staff and fun music!
Annette Harris: Granddaughter started taking lessons and I was told for the same price we could take lessons together. She was excited for us to do it. Since we have been learning together.Dean is a good teacher, very patient and helpful. Miss Erin is also good but she is on leave now.Great school if you ever wanted to learn guitar.
Rick and Brenda Becker: I just love the philosophy! 🤩🌈❤️‍🔥
Jennifer Sutherby: The kids like their teachers and Dean is so kind. Thumbs up!
Nick D: Dean the owner is constantly working to make this the best guitar spot in Grand Rapids, and is succeeding!
J Taylor: I dont want to give this place s terrible review. The couple times Ive been there the guys have been polite and helpful. But now Im guessing that they were a victim of the pandemic and are closed. Hmm ppl
donald callender: Awesome customer service! I highly recommend Mitch for guitar lessons
Robert Dolweck: Stopped in on a whim and bought a vintage laptop slide guitar. Great pricing on a selection of vintage instruments.
Tim Jones: Good people & good place to shop for musical supplies and instruments
Nate Hoekstra: Good scheduling, great customer service. Adam is a great guitar instructor and patient with even the worst adult learners (me)!
Nathan Donahue: Everytime I have stepped foot in the door of Southtown I feel good.Whether I am taking a lesson, looking for something specific or just saying hi -you will get the full attention of either Dean or one of the friendly staff.I am a better person -and I know this city is better- for having Southtown Guitar here.
Mary N: Went into Southtown Guitar this last weekend just because I had been interested in the store for a while. I am in the process of teaching myself ukulele, and I noticed that Southtown has had a Groupon running for lessons for a bit now. I signed up for a free lesson before leaving. I was also offered the Groupon deal in the store. I'm looking forward to my lesson. They also buy and sell used instruments. If you are looking for a lovely little local place, I'd start here.
Annette Brouwer: I love Southtown Guitar! I sold my guitar and bought my Recording King banjolele with Dean's help, and it was a really great experience! I highly recommend Southtown to anyone looking for a great experience in going to a music store. So often when I go to music stores, the staff is all male and they assume I (a woman) have no idea what I am looking for. The folks at Southtown Guitar didn't assume anything of that sort, and went above and beyond in helping me find exactly what I was looking for. I would highly recommend this shop! PS! They just moved to East town!

Triumph Music Academy: what do users think?
Anna Lopez: Triumph is excellent! My son enrolled here to learn guitar, though switched to piano a few months in. They are great working with young learners, offer lots of flexibility and have very talented musicians working for them. Great place to choose!
Eleanor Dotson: I've been going to Triumph on and off for 5 years. James has always been so accommodating and he hires the best instructors. I'm currently taking zoom lessons with Chris and it's working out well. I'd highly suggest them!
Jason Heath: Positive:Professionalism,QualityI had an excellent experience with Triumph! Chris Bota is such a cool dude and amazing guitar teacher and player. Essentially, I took lessons from him for about a year and a half. I learned so much about music and guitar under his tutelage. I also gained a friend. Cannot recommend enough.
David Young: James is a great teacher!!
Joel Helder: Seriously. I have learned so much in 2 months. Given the quality of instruction, I am surprised he had a spot for me.
Simon Vallance: I have played the drums for 50 years and over that time have performed with several bands but was never completely happy with my musicality. Since joining Triumph Music Academy I've learned drumming, performance and recording techniques from Brandon and James that have opened up a new world to me and shown you can teach an old dog new tricks.
Steve F: Our family is really happy that we selected Triumph Music Academy and teacher Chris Bursley for guitar lessons for our son, Lucas, who has blossomed under Chris's tutelage. Chris quickly understood the best ways to communicate with and motivate Lucas; as well as any school teacher that he's had. It is also evident that he cares about our kid. Triumph delivered more than we expected, especially from the confidence-building and interpersonal side.
Jeff Gendron: I'm 49 years old and for 40 of those years always knew there was a drummer inside of me. Thanks to Pete and James at Triumph, I can say I am now a drummer on the outside too. It's never too late! Young or old, for yourself or someone you love, this place and what they teach is truly a gift.
Carolyn P: Are you told constantly "you have a great voice"? Do you humbly say 'Thank you' but deep inside you know that you really don't know HOW to sing? Chances are you are right. Triumph Music Academy will teach you ABOUT singing, sound, music... and how to REALLY sing! Thanks for making me a better singer inside and out!
Justin Gargus: Great place to take lessons with great staff!!
Clint Forester: Triumph Music Academy does a phenomenal job of allowing their students to grow organically in their craft; at the same time giving them independence yet professional guidance to foster their growth. James Hughes does a great job of ascertaining the individuals desires, skill sets, and matching them up accordingly. I can not speak more highly enough of the dedication and effort that went into their production of the “Big Gig” A wonderful night of music seeing both adults and kids alike performing their original music to perfection. A true testimony to what Triumph Music strives and successfully achieves..
Jenna Nuttall: I have been taking lessons here for a long time and they have great teachers and a good learning environment! Highly recommended if you want to begin learning an instrument or want to further your knowledge in one.
Nightchair Records: Triumph has the Friendliest, and most knowledgeable staff around. They genuinely care for each and every student and focus the lessons around them. They are second to none and have helped me immense in my career as a multi-instrumentalist/solo musician. They helped me build my home brewed record label from the ground up and expanded my musical horizons beyond compare. Don’t go anywhere else but Triumph.
Jeremy Verwys: A unique and wonderful location for you or your students to receive music lessons! Each instructor is talented in their field, and passionate about teaching. You will not find another teaching academy in Grand Rapids that offers such high level of instruction, by such high level teachers who truly care about the development of you or your student!
Brian Sommer: Triumph Music Academy has a way of picking up on someone's learning styles and really focusing on material that a certain individual needs in their journey through music. As an individual who use to only pick up his guitar once a week at most I can say after attending the first lesson I was playing in the morning, on my lunch break and in the evening until I went to bed. This place has given me hope that I can easily break through my brick wall that I hit with my music. Though Triumph Music Academy focuses on how to bestow contemporary tactics and tones on your instrument they also incorporate easy to learn theory and foundation that make understanding one's instrument much more easily. It is nice that those at Triumph Music Academy are personable and most importantly relational. I have tried other avenues to learn music and all of them have failed. Look to the internet and there is just random chunks of information that have no rhyme or reason that leave you overwhelmed and frustrated. I looked to other teachers and most of them have not had the passion to truly help people connect with their music. I am so happy I found Triumph. These guys have changed my life musically in crazy ways. I would recommend any musical artist to check out Triumph no matter if you are a beginner or if you have played for years and have hit a brick wall. Also, Triumph Music Academy's location could not be any better. There is much to do in the surrounding neighborhood which makes the time after my lesson is completed much more enjoyable.
Matthew T. Donnelly: Very good experience, they tailor it for you and your needs. Nice facilities, good teachers
Steven Karbownik: Simply put, one of if not the best ways to discover yourself as an artist. I came into the academy very lost and unsure how to continue my craft. Now I'm a little over six months in, and my craft has done a complete 180 in the right direction. Literally would not be creating the way I do today if it wasn't for my lessons. Everyone is super nice overall and very passionate about what they do. It's incredible to be a part of!
Kathy Osborn: After years of performing as a vocalist and flutist with various amateur groups, I decided I would like to learn more about how music is constructed, and particularly wanted help learning to write harmony lines for flute to accompany vocal music. I contacted Triumph by email, and James responded to me within the day. After learning my goals, James paired me with Theo for private composition lessons. With Theo I instantly felt comfortable, understood, and encouraged. His teaching style is a perfect match for the way I learn best. Always encouraging, he listens carefully to my work, and teaches by showing me the overarching concepts I need to accomplish particular goals in a composition, rather than tell me what to do. I end each lesson feeling empowered and full of new ideas. After just two lessons, my goals expanded from writing simple harmony lines to writing my own original music, which I previously had no idea that I could do. I now find myself wishing for more hours in the day so I could spend them composing. Both Theo and James have encouraged me to perform and record my compositions, and they have the know-how to help me get my music recorded and heard. In just two months of lesson time, I have met my original goals, and then exceeded them exponentially. This would never have happened without James and Theo's caring expertise in their knowledge of music, teaching, and connecting students to the real world of performing and recording.Wish it were possible to give Triumph six stars!
Todd Olson: James Hughes and Rick Chyme have been great to work with! I highly recommend Triumph Music Academy. We feel our daughter has received far more than just music lessons. These two have coached her and helped develop her as an artist and given her many opportunities to perform in front of others. Five Stars plus!!!
Dayna Kasza: Taking guitar lessons from James at Triumph Music Academy has by far one of the best decisions I've made in my adult life. I've wanted to know how to play for years, and now that is a reality. James and his staff are fun, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. Whatever dreams you have related to the instrument you want to learn, these guys will make it happen. I really cannot say enough about how much I have enjoyed this - I would recommend Triumph Music Academy to anyone.
Heather Humm: James and the team at Triumph do a great job! I worked with Mike Dodge, a top-notch instructor and musician, on both mandolin and guitar. I recommend Triumph on a regular basis to folks looking for teachers in GR. One great aspect of Triumph is there are students of all ages, lots of adults as well as young people. Music making is for everyone across the age spectrum and Triumph fosters that.

Music Lessons for Less: what do users think?
Philip Degner: My kids (7 & 5) have had great success in their beginning stages of learning piano with Mr. Tom - I'm very impressed! Mr. Tom's rates are the best that I know of, especially considering his expertise in so many different instruments. He has a very welcoming home, which we go to on a weekly basis. Thanks Mr. Tom!
Miguel Martinez: Lessons are very reasonable and Tom is very talented and experienced. My daughter who is 8 now has been going since she was 6 years old. He is teaching her to play piano. She enjoys her lessons with Tom and looks forward to new lessons every week.
amy pugh (ford): Tom is kind, understanding, and gentle with my sensitive, young new musician. Lessons are very affordable and, even better, Tom knows how to teach and motivate kids!
Laura Subject: I have really enjoyed getting piano lessons with Tom at Music for Less. He is very knowledgeable about teaching piano as well as music theory, and tailors his lessons based on each student’s interests. His lessons are very affordable and he is very flexible if something comes up and you can’t make the lesson that week. Tom is very welcoming to new students and always has a smile on his face! As an added bonus, he never lectures me when I might not have practiced as much as I should’ve that week and adjusts the lessons accordingly to what I have done at home. Would definitely recommend for anyone who is looking for piano lessons!
Jacalyn V: When COVID shut down the world, my kid had just started in band on the trombone. We searched and searched for someone who would do online lessons, distanced lessons, anything to keep his skills moving forward. After a little over a year, my kid outpaced the tutor we had and I had to find someone else who could challenge my kid to continue to grow. Let me tell you, finding someone who can tutor in a brass instrument is harder than I thought! When I found Tom, I was first impressed by the sheer library of instrument expertise he has. If you want to play it, he could probably teach it. Our first lesson went so well, and we immediately knew this was the tutor who would help us get first chair, and help us keep it. We've only been with Tom for a few months and already my kid has grown in understanding and passion for the trombone. Tom is patient and gentle, and explains clearly. When added to that how affordable the lessons are, and how flexible he is to work with whatever life may have thrown your way, I really can't recommend him enough. He has been such a blessing and we are excited for new challenges!
Luana Tolea: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueSince working with Tom since February 2021, my daughter has learned so much playing piano. I am pleased with my daughter's progress and would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a music teacher. Tom is very knowledgeable, patient, he explains complex concepts in an approachable way, he makes lessons fun and enjoyable.
Marc H: After not playing my saxophone in roughly 20 years Tom has helped revive an old passion. Thank you!
Stephanie Gaylord: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI’ve been taking flute lessons for 3 months. Tom is fun. I love coming to my lessons! -John, 10 years old
Deborah Long: My grandson think he is a great teacher and should be teaching music lesson at schools.
Lavender Blue: Qualified, affordable, patient teaching with care. Highly recommended

Michael Pierce Guitar: what do users think?
Adam Austin: I recently got married and was put on to Michael by a close friend who had him play at her wedding. After hearing him at her wedding, I knew I had to have him at mine, and I could not have been happier with the service provided. He was very easy to get a hold of, great at communicating back and forth, and a fantastic guitarist to boot. He was even able to suggest a violinist which he worked extremely well with, and the two together played some extremely good music. He was able to play requested songs for our procession and recession, which just made our big day all the more special. His prices were extremely reasonable, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for live music for their event!
OliviaVargasmusic: After hearing Michael Pierce perform all over the Grand Rapids area in not only bands but in solo settings, I knew he was one of the most talented young musicians here in West Michigan. I had been looking to start taking lessons for guitar to further my knowledge in instruments, but I wanted someone who was approachable and willing to teach according to my strengths and weaknesses. I have learned more in three weeks than I have in the three years I have tried to teach myself. I would recommend him to anyone not only as a performer but as a teacher.
Jad Abou Maarouf: My wife and I hired Michael Pierce Guitar for our tenth wedding anniversary party. He is an extraordinary guitarist who can play any musical genre from classical guitar, to popular music beautifully.Michael made our celebration unforgettable!
Selene Lacayo: I came to Michael Pierce Guitar with no musical knowledge but with a great desire to learn how to play guitar. It had been something that I always wanted to do but shied away from trying.Michael's friendliness and patience has made learning a true pleasure. I look forward to every lesson. What's more, in a short period of time, I have come from zero to being able to play entire songs!I like Michael's style and flexibility as well as his openness to teach me songs that I have a particular interest in.
