He was very friendly and told us about the business and made the food promptly. He had great pride in his restaurant as he should.I went with his recommendation and just got the butter chicken which was great and my wife got a vegetable dish which she absolutely loved too. The food was very filling and left good tastes in our mouths. The garlic naan was delightful. It was very crispy on the outside and soft on the inside at the same time; the perfect texture. We will definitely be back even though we live on the other side of town, and we will pass the recommendation on as our friend recommend it to us.Vegetarian options: There are lots of vegetarian and vegan options as well. Sheri Monroe: This is the BEST Indian food in town, hands down. My husband and I love Indian food and have frequented many places in the greater GR area, some places we've really enjoyed and unfortunately a few have gone out of business. We used to live nearby India Town (walking distance) and went frequently. We moved to another part of town 10 years ago and while we don't go as often, the food never disappoints! We recently ordered take out for a date night in after our kids went to bed and were both so happy with the meal. We get a couple of appetizers and split a meal and there is more than enough food for us (we have leftovers, too).
Piramesan Bala: Food: 4/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More
Chris Snyder: Best Indian food I've ever had. We've been there twice now, and will be returning frequently. The garlic naan is amazing!
Scott Admiraal: Excellent, from scratch Indian!

Nirmaljeet Singh: I highly recommend India Town in Grand Rapids. Fantastic service, delicious food, well priced and great location. We ate here several times already and planning to invite my friends soon.
lucy: The food here is amazing! I have never had Indian cuisine before and was glad to have this place be my first authentic meal. The owner is super friendly and has great customer service. If you are thinking of trying this place out, I recommend you do!
Dr. James Heath: Great food! Super tasty and would recommend it to everyone. Tony, the owner is a very friendly and personable man and takes his food very seriously. He works hard for our enjoyment. Great place with wonderful authentic food!
Tanisha Zaynab: I went there and was the only person there. (I'm Muslim and wear hijab) and he started being so creepy with me. Asked me where my husband is, asked how much money I have. Told me Muslim women love him and he has many Muslim girl friends. Told me he is married but does not care because love is love. Told me about massages he gives other women and tried to give me he cell phone number asking me to text him. Told me he likes me a lot and I'm very sweet. If you're a single woman I do not recommend ever going in there alone. I asked for a to go box and left. And $30 later I can't even eat my food because I feel so disgusted
Amy Huff: Highly recommended! The food and atmosphere was exceptional!

Andria Tyler: Amazing food. Seriously love this place. The staff is so friendly as well.
Paula Ross: Curry was good but only two small dumplings in the whole order. For the cost, portion not good. Way too much gravy. People were nice. I was a bit disappointed.Vegetarian options: Cu
Hari Nepal: Best restaurant for Nepali food in town -Go for chowmin, Momos and thukpa, if you are new to Nepali food.
Linda Monroe: Always great, love the dumplingsFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Vernon: I’ve eaten curry everywhere. They ARE the best. Goat was tender. Sauce was super good. Needed more rice. Naan was average though
dilu Sharma: I highly recommend this place!!! Desi spies is one of the best Indian + Nepalese restaurant that I found in Grand Rapids. I moved to Grand Rapids eight months ago from Nashville, Tennessee and I have been many Indian restaurant in here but the most delicious cuisine I found out is this restaurant. The dumpling is to die for, so delicious. Methi Chicken, Butter chicken, Chowing, goat curry, lamp Rogan Josh and Etc.The staffs are very friendly and welcoming. I’m definitely going back to this restaurant. ❤️
Greg Cleveland: Had dinner tonight, Butter Chicken, Paneer Tikka Masala, Malai Kofta and Garlic Nan. YES. Tasty, authentic. Atmosphere was simply real. Nothing fancy, but so delicious and generous portions. Will be going back here.
AgentTheory: Ordered through Door Dash. We had (left to right) the lamb saag, Rogan Josh, and chicken vindaloo. Rich flavor profile, but I think they add the hot spice late in the cooking, which tends to cover the other flavors. All three dishes also had whole bay leaves (or other type) and other solid spices in the finished dish. Good flavor overall, but rather crude preparation technique.
andi nicpon: I really enjoy Desi spice I go there once a week to once every other week. I've had the chicken tikka masala, the butter chicken, and the tandoori chicken. I usually go for a spice level three or four which works out great. There's enough flavor in there but you're not hating yourself for getting it. I would highly recommend trying Desi spice if you never tried it and are looking for some really good Indian food
Tiva: Always come back for their great dumpling especially the chili momo and mango lassi.
Meera Patel: I spoke to the owner Prabin at 7:40 pm on January 11, 2023. I called him to inform him that the order that I received was not what I placed on the phone with Durga. I asked for 3 orders of extra spicy chilli chicken momos. And I received three orders of blend chili chicken momos. Also Durga failed to ask me what spice level I want. This has happened several times in the past. All in all the customer service is terrible. I asked him what he could do for me since I did not receive what I paid for and instead of solving the issue he was being very rude to me. Saying that next time I should say what spice level I want such as 20 or 30. I am a frequent customer of desi spice, so the way this was handled was not acceptable at all.
Jeffery Seegert: First time eating at this restaurant. It is primarily Indian with a small selection of Napalese food. I started with the vegetarian samosas (2 per order). These were freshly made, large and crispy on the outside. The flavors were spot on, especially with the spicy Tamarind based dipping sauce. My son and I ordered the Chicken Thukpa and the kauai goat along with some Bhatura. The flavors were extraordinary and spot on with the spice levels. My son, who can be a picky eater, said one word during dinner ...."good!" The portions were very large with very reasonable pricing. The only down side was that the menu had no drinks on it and the selection in the cooler was limited to sprite and orange soda. All on all a great place to eat. I will be returning frequently to explore the menu.
Edward Dixon: Very good food fresh and amazing for such a small place. The potions are large. Staff are very polite and friendly. It is worth a visit. I have been to many Indian restaurants throughout the US I would say for a small place it compares to some of those larger restaurants.
Kori Wickham: First time there. Quality food. I didn’t expect it. No buffet but the menu has so much available. Yummy momo and bread basket. Shahi planner amazing. Butter chicken good. Chicken briyani amazing with no bones in it. NO BUFFET is not available here. Oh, and fair prices. Leave a good tip. Will be back. The spice was spicy! Yay!
Murtiag (Murt): Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Large portions.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Pradhyumna Kumar Pillamari: Ambience is really old. Service was very slowCouldn’t handle grub hub and dine in orders together. We sat at our table for 20 mins after the appetizers to get our entrees. Chicken Tikka and coke was the only thing I could feel like eating. Please don’t ever try their chicken fried rice. I should have asked for a refund on the rice. Dumplings very just ok. Overall not recommended!
Esther White: Update: I became very ill after eating a small portion of the food I ordered here. I reached out to the 3rd party delivery service and they're investigating the issue for me.Ordered delivery from here and was disappointed with the outcome. The cucumber salad is $5 for literally a half cucumber cut up with pepper sprinkled on top. The samosa is good, but the vegetable biryani and aloo gobi were both so strongly seasoned with mint it was borderline inedible. I've ordered from here before and had similar issues but wanted to give it another shot, I definitely wouldn't recommend the food here due to both experiences being fairly negative. I would say the only item that has been satisfactory is the samosa and chicken fried rice. Kind bummed out about bad food, but maybe they just need to work on a little quality control?
sun ny: Indian food does not taste good. Nepali foods are ok. Most of the food don't have the flavors they need to be.2 star is for Nepali food and staff. For Indian food it's 0. Ambience and neatness not good.Food: 1/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 1/5 …More
Dominic Iacovoni: This place is very authentic. I keep coming back! Even when I’ve an issue/mix up, they’ve gone out of their way to make it right. This is a reliable and respectful establishment and a genuine experience of Indian cuisine. It’s a little hidden gem. I recommend anyone try it and disagree! Fair prices.Vegetarian options: Great paneer!

Bombay Cuisine: what do users think?
T.J. Taylor: R.I.P. to a real one
Kris Shannon: Delicious food as always, sorry to see it go. Truly the end of an era!
Atokad Erad: Placed an order 2 hours ahead of pickup time. Order was canceled 10 minutes before pickup time and not a single person in the store could tell me why they cancelled my order and this it was “doordash’s” fault.
Angel Rose: Recommended dishes Cheese NaanMore
Crystal Steverson: Placed online order and went to pick it up but didn’t receive the full order. Called and they apologized for the problem and explained that at times when placing an order online the full order doesn’t always come through. Had to drive 20 minutes back to get the remainder of the order and was not offered any complimentary item or recompense for the inconvenience. As far as the food it was just okay. Not bad but not good enough for me to go back.
Selah Joy: This was the most amazing flavors. It was like an explosion of the most unique wonderful flavors I have ever tasted. definitely will come back. The food was absolutely chefs kiss! We got Tika masala and butter chicken both where amazing the butter chicken definitely had more flavors going on but both where so good. Thank you so much for this amazing experience trying Indian cuisine.
Shelley Kaur: Very nice service , food is good. I tried Murg methi.
Gurinder Singh: Very nice service 👌 and food is very tasty
Jared Hauck: This is an update from a previous 5 star review from 2012. This place used to be good years ago, but has sadly gone downhill. The food is still pretty decent, but the service is horrendous. I do feel bad as they were obviously understaffed, but for high prices like they charge, they need to make it worth it to the consumer. To add insult to injury, we were charged an 'upcharge' on our bill without explanation. When we asked the waiter about this mysterious charge he said it was due to food costs being higher. Why was this not communicated with us beforehand? It was not even mentioned on our menu. The waiter brought a menu from a neighboring table that had a temporary sticker on the back with the upcharge listed, but ours did not. He did apologize, but did not offer to remove the charge. The service was also in general horrible. We were given the wrong food and waited the whole meal to get our waters refilled. Unfortunately, we will not be able to recommend this place any longer.
Neha Amble: Great indian food. Good quality and quantity. Rogan Josh is a must try. Variety of vegetarian dishes available.
Aubrey Kroes: Had a great experience last night! Food was so flavorful, the waitress was very pleasant. Sat outside and it was lovely.
Emma Green: I used to love this place. However, it seems to be going downhill. The food was just okay this time, nothing to write home about. Then when I went to eat my naan I found a hair baked in. We called to let them know and they told me they didn’t believe me but I could get a free order of Naan if we wanted next time we come in. Eventually they said they would mail a gift card for an unspecified amount.Beware of their prices. Even though the menu claims one price, they add “up charges” for meat. This is not stated anywhere on the menu. Seems very shady that Buttered Chicken gets an up charge for having Chicken even though Chicken is in the name.Very sad, this used to be my favorite Indian food in town, I guess I will have to go searching for a new favorite. I’m open to any suggestions!
Mary Frank-Murphy: Food is great, as always. We are so glad to be back after a few years. The service was disappointing. Waitress was very nice but we had to wait for our check and then to pay for a half hour. She seemed to disappear. Seems that they need more staff in the kitchen.
David Kaiser: Quoted 30-35 min. Waited almost an hour. Only 6 tables in the restaurant. Couldn't make me a martini. Helo? Bombay sapphire? Will go to Pind next time.
Jeff Van Beck: Great brewery and restaurant
Howard Smlth: Very good authentic Indian cuisine.
catcat: I've always had mixed feelings about Bombay Cuisine. Bombay has some great reviews, and their food is good, but as someone who has traveled around and eaten a lot of spicy food, it does feel like Bombay caters to individuals with a midwest palette. If you are a spice champion and ask for spice, expect the food to be mild, at most. If you dislike spice, and are looking to venture into Indian food, this is a great place to start. I'm curious as to what region in India the owners are from because the dishes are different than what one would expect. I taste a lot of ginger and sweetness and not too much spice or tanginess in their dishes. Although there are Indian restaurants in Grand Rapids that I would say might be better, Bombay Cuisine holds a space in my heart. Growing up in Grand Rapids, there was never any accessible south Asian food - the food at Bombay was one of my first experiences with Indian food, which is now my favorite cuisine. As someone who has gotten older, traveled quite a bit and eaten quite a lot of Indian food, Bombay still holds a space in my heart because it feels like home in a way. I also think it's super cool that they have merged with East West brewing - you don't have many chances to grab a craft beer and eat Indian food in the same sitting, so I love it!
No L Castro: What a great place!! The food and service was on point!
Mike V: 1st time patron, staff very helpful with menu and meal selection. Looking forward to returning!
Ms. Gray: Yummy food with dietary allergy selection and big servings
Bradley Smith: Used to go here a lot when I lived in GR. It was my wife’s birthday and I ordered online for pickup at the restaurant. I wanted to heat it up the next day for her birthday dinner. I was missing an entree and the chutney. I called and they couldn’t refund me as they said I needed to contact door dash. I filled out the “problem with your order” link at the bottom of my confirmation email and never heard anything. My wife ate one of the entrees and I ate the other and she ended up with a very bad case of food poisoning. Basically the opposite of what I was intending for her birthday dinner. I had to throw out all of the leftovers. The following week I stopped into Bombay Cuisine to tell them about the food poisoning and to see if I could get a refund for my missing items. They said that it wasn’t possible that she got food poisoning from their food and that I couldn’t get a refund for my missing items. Not even offering to just take cash out of the register to make it right. They essentially told me that they didn’t have my money and door dash did. Unfortunately they’ve lost me as a customer.

Sara's Sweets Bakery Northeast Grand Rapids: what do users think?
Katie Zerkle: Our cake & cupcakes turned out amazing 🙂
Monique Pierre: Sara's Sweets was able to accommodate my large order for a work gathering on short notice. I was very happy with my sweets and service! I'll definitely be ordering from them in the future - for work and personal events.
Justin Swan: No surprise, our cake looked amazing. Really stunning. But never expected such a delicious cake. Usually you get one or the other. Spongy and moist. The buttercream was so good. We were really happy.
Evonne: Wonderful cake!! And delicious!
Nikohl Skubick: Yet another fabulous cake for my son's birthday! He always comes up with some wild idea that he'd like for his cake, and Sara's Sweets never disappoints. In the past they have made Pokemon, Minecraft, Fortnight and other fantastic cakes for us. This year I sent 3 pictures of characters from My Singing Monsters and suggested that the easiest one to be made into a cake be chosen. Satyrah knocked it out of the park by stacking all three!!! It was amazing, and delicious! Thank you for years of wonderful memories!!!
Megan Fasel: I have been looking some yummy cupcakes for awhile now and this is the place! Delish and made to order!
Leah Guis: In the past 6 months they have done two bridal shower cakes - one gluten free and excellent tasting - one cutting cake for a wedding and a birthday cake. All tasted excellent, looked great, and priced so reasonably for the level of talent received. Highly recommend.
Emma Bunn: Amazingly fast service, such kind people! First time ordering a custom birthday cake and it blew my expectations out of the water. Cake was masterfully made and decorated. Not only that, but it tasted great!!! I will definitely be coming back whenever I can. 10/10.
Christy Dehning: Saras Sweets made a gorgeous geode cake for my daughters 16th birthday! They Absolutely knocked it out of the park! The cake was not only absolutely gorgeous it was delicious!
Ruth E. Taveras: Great phone service. Detail on ordering, delivery, etc.
Linda Lawson: Sara's make the BEST cakes anywhere at any price, as my brother says, they are "the bomb diggity!" Our bro surprised usby ordering a German choc cake for me and a ganache-robed chocolate cake with green decorative icing for our sis since both our birthdays are close together. First of all, these cakes were gorgeous works of art, 4 layers, with a big pure chocolate medallion on top of mine. Secondly, they tasted sooooo good, light and moist, yet perfectly dense at the same time. Stop searching for the best bakery in Michigan because Sara's is THE PLACE! From Lin, Di, and Paul.
Susan Calow: I came 3 hours to get a cake I ordered online and it was spectacular! My daughter played Spyro as a kid so I had them put that on a cake and it was Perfect! The cake was delicious and my daughter loved it!
Theresa Tan: I found this gem off of a fb group.. I ordered my daughter’s birthday cake from there and they were able to replicate the picture perfectly. Not only did it look great, but it tasted even better. Super moist and the frosting was just so delicious. Highly recommend!
Michael VanderHart: What you should expect when working with this company is a no nonsense experience void of drama that will deliver an order that is of magnificent quality, crafted with care and creative genius.Context for this statement:I have gotten a cake for my wife's birthday here for the last three years. The first year, I was not prepared at all to provide an adequate dessert for my betrothed, and I called them up and asked for help to get me out of a situation created only by my procrastination. As the night continued to unfold, work pulled me away, and I missed my wife's birthday dinner. The cake they had made for me was the redeeming highlight of that night.Since then, each cake I have asked them to execute a seemingly more abstract and confusing vision to which they have upped the bar each time. These cakes are not inexpensive, and that is because of the level of artistry and skill that goes into making them. It is not uncommon to have a great tasting cake or a great looking cake, but the team there has performed at a level making them no less than masters at their trades. These people know what they are doing, and you should ask them for their expertise, and let them do what they do best. It is clear that being a great bakery is what their goal is, and they have achieved that goal very well.If you want help representing yourself, a love one, or an important date through a bespoke, high quality, and impressive dessert, this is absolutely the best place I have found to achieve that goal.To that end, our latest creation represents a dead president walking a dog, and we cannot be happier with the result. As strange as that may sound, the fact that this team can pull off making an entire room of people laugh and smile with that is nothing less than incredible.Thank you for the fond memories, and I am excited to see what we can come up with next year.
Courtney Kalogiros: I was super happy with my cake. I ordered it last minute and they totally rocked it.
Sandy Hopwood: As a first time customer, I was referred to Sara’s sweets by a local Mom group on Facebook. The recommendation really held up, I was so happy with how they created the birthday cakes for my daughter‘s first birthday. I asked for some thing pink, with flowers, and some thing youthful and fun. With very little direction they knocked it out of the park! I highly recommend this crew, when I was in the store they offered to help me bring the cakes to my car. When you use them, feel free to let them be creative with the design. They are the pros and will not disappoint.
Katie DeWitt: We ordered an 8" bride & groom cut cake for our wedding and it turned out beautifully. We needed a gluten free cake, and it was so delicious I wanted to eat more of it after we did the initial cut. They also decorated it beautifully with real flowers. I made a mistake and forgot to ask the florist to set aside flowers for the cake, and our bakery delivery person refused to leave until we received the flower decorations on our cake that we had paid for. We very much appreciated that!
Ahmad Ayad: Ordered a cake and was beyond impressed with the customer service and the attention to detail on the design of the cake. The cake was delicious and received a lot of compliments on it. Highly recommend!!!
Jreere May: The best cakes and cupcakes I've had.
Kendra VanMore: Amazing. Beautiful. Lovely people.
Jen Lesinski: I have always loved this shop. We've had all our cakes and cupcakes made here since we first moved to Michigan years ago. Back then I was looking for a high quality gluten free cakes and was so impressed that I never went anywhere else. One of the things that I particularly loved was being able to call them up with cake specs and a general theme (in the past examples of themes have been gaming, puppies, etc for my kids' cakes) and they would make something great. Just one masterpiece after another.I did the same thing recently. I called them up a few days before the event and asked if they could make a cake. They couldn't in that amount of time. Fair enough, so I moved the event to a week later when they said they could have the cake done.I asked for a "bakery" theme and honestly I didn't care what it looked like. They could have done an outline of a mixing spoon with "Happy birthday" on it and I would have been over the moon. I verbalized this on the phone to the person taking the order. I said "I don't care what it looks like; you guys always do a good job; literally anything is fine." The employee asked that I email a photo for inspiration. I said I would try to do that asap, but that honestly anything is fine.I went through the entire ordering process. They had all my contact information. No one ever said anything about prepaying. After I got off the phone I proceeded to have one of the worst weeks of my life. The bakery is obviously not at fault for this, but what it meant was that I completely forgot to send the email. When I went to the bakery to pick it up and they simply hadn't made it at all! They said that it was my fault for not prepaying and not sending the email. Sending the email is completely on me, but not prepaying is completely on them. I had said many times over "literally anything is fine." The worker offered to "whip something up real quick" for me and I just thought to myself "why couldn't you have done that a week ago when I originally wanted the cake? That's what I literally asked you to do in so many words."No call, no follow up, no cake. Won't be back.
