Books & Mortar: what do users think?
Margaret Hansen: Most excellent local bookstore with very helpful staff. I love the family friendly atmosphere.
Anna S.: Love visiting this store whenever I’m in the area. Good selection and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
Jianna Primm: Really nice vibe. A few books caught my eye, but decided on this one to travel home with me. Was happy to cross paths with this shop. Thank you!!
Ryan Niblett: Great bookshop. Wide open design with lots of new books. Plenty of a selection for kids and adults and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Recommend spending your time here!
Mickey Carolan: A great bookstore in Grand Rapids. Hospitable atmosphere and a wide array of diverse books. Stop in the next time you’re in the area and ask them to order a copy of Sky, the Deaf Home Run Hero!
Anna Moyer: Outstanding independent book store, thoughtful curated. Hang onto your wallet..
Lindsay Teeples-Mitchell: Such a special place. Absolutely love the staff, the inclusive curation and heart of this place. Such an important part of the community.
Hannah M: I order all my books though Books and Mortar. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I love chatting with them about books every time I stop by!
David VanderVelde: Small independent bookstore, but the selection of books is much better than you might expect from the size. Helpful staff
Paul Houle: Well curated and stocked bookstore with exceedingly pleasant staff. Highly recommend giving this place a visit to replenish the reading lists!
David Aye: Clean
Lance Safford: Fantastic indie book shop. I wanted to read the whole store
Kelly Cheese: Favorite bookstore in town, hands down. Jenny, the owner, is wonderful as is her staff. The book selection is always on point and very well rounded. It’s a great stop for anyone who loves a good book or who may be looking for a gift. Plus, it’s a safe space for all readers.
Jessie Guerrero: Not only is the space welcoming for all, the continual commitment to social justice is a huge draw for us to keep coming back. Great people, great books and everything a bookstore should be.
Kayla Benda: The kind of business that deserves way more than five stars. They stand up for what they believe in while providing a safe space for every type of reader. And I mean books. Come on.
Courtney Kliss: Best bookstore in the state IMO! Staff is absolutely lovely, selection is inspiring and well curated. Being a customer and book club member during my time in GR was so special and I miss it all the time since moving. Books & Mortar cares about people, the city, and the environment and it shows in what they promote and the community building they inspire. This place is a huge pick me up on a bad day, and an inspiring and safe space when things feel tough. Good work is being done here, it’s so much more than a bookstore.
Sarah Drevon: Beautiful shop and great selection. Love having them close on Cherry St.! A true GR staple nowadays.
Erin Arrowood: I absolutely love this bookstore. They have a wonderful collection of books, they support teachers, are diverse and inclusive, and work extremely hard to build our community. I am beyond lucky to have this shop in my neighborhood!
Joel Brandt: Why business owners feel the need to share their politics with a class trip is beyond me. I do not care you have a book club for school age children to find their gender identity or that your store is pro choice. Keep politics out of commerce. We will order from Amazon in the future or go to Schulers.
Keegan Kallmyer: Best local book store in GR. Have never had a problem getting a book.
Hannah Taplin: I have been a regular at Books and Mortar for years! If you are looking for a wide selection of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, etc and a competent staff who will give you recommendations and order books promptly and keep you informed about your order, look no further than Books and Mortar! Jenny and her team are so kind and friendly and are always willing to go above and beyond for their customers and their community. I cannot sing their praises enough.

Barnes & Noble: what do users think?
Nolan Thompson: Great staff, great store, good place to just go and chill if you like to read.
Mike Jumah: Good bookstore
Sara S.: Love this location, it’s two levels too
Butterfly Wings: Nice and friendly place
Ranged_ Yapper69: Good place to get your books
Jennifer Dibble: Nice place to buy a coffee and buy books
Sammantha Jo: Love this place, just wish it was more affordable but that goes for all Barnes and Noble
Shelley Fraser: Had a return from an internet order. The salesperson was very helpful and understanding. Glad we got everything worked out smoothly!✔️✔️✔️✔️
Jake Thompson: Its a book store. Wide selection so theres something for everyone. Price is fair as even online the savings is minimum.
Christine Homminga: I enjoy going to the book store, but witnessing my friend's book signing event. Made it extra special! If you haven't bought it yet, you should check it out. The book is called Rising: From a Mud-Hut to the Boardroom, and back again. It's a great and intense read!
Anna Moyer: They're very helpful with special orders. No complaints!
David L.: A decent store, to be sure. But on 04/21, I was in the store towards the end of the day and while I was leaving after checking out, I heard an employee make an announcement over the PA system: “It’s not 8:55. We will be closing in five minutes. You have five minutes to get your act together.” Not only was this pretty unprofessional, the irritation in the staff member’s voice was unmistakable. This just seems a bit off-brand for Barnes & Noble.
Tracia Stansby: This is by far one of the best Barnes and Noble book stores around. Two stories, great selection! Worth the drive if you aren't from Grand Rapids. Staff is friendly, helpful and fairly knowledgeable.
Lucille McKinney: Despite books being grossly overpriced nowadays books are books and I love books. Though I wish there weren't so many novels that are basically the same with little variance. It's a struggle to find good books with their set up. I love to read though and Barnes and Nobles has a lot of books. Got 8 books. The start of my future library.
David Smith: Great service and great location.
Austin Schout: Shout out to Eric. Very helpful and kind. Even though they didn't have the book I was looking for, he helped me find it at the nearest book store. Big ups to Eric!
Russell Gavigan: Love me some books
jeff sopchak: Excellent
Cody Marshall: Been to this location twice! It's very clean, nice, calming. There's a really good selection of books. Very easy to find what you're looking for.
Kay Connelly: Nice 2 story bookstore.
J Robbins: By far the best Barnes & Noble I've come across. Extensive selection of material. Friendly and helpful employees.
