Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital: what do users think?
Mariyam Punawala: All good
Quentin Moon: I had my RNS surgery by Dr.Burdette, Dr.Ali, and the rest of his team. They were really good to me throughout all of the testing and, up to month long eegs. I'm glad all that's finally over though and I had my surgery. Which has helped already to reduce my seizures, and the severity of them when I do have a breakthrough. .
Chalice Belliel: I gave birth to my first baby here, it was an amazing experience, tleveryone was so caring helpful and got done what needed to be done I had an amazing nurse named ash, and Dr Johnson was a heaven sent. They followed my no man rule as I have ptsd and I cannot recommend them enough!
TJ David: Our buddy smashed his face on a sidewalk & Nurse Jackie in the ER did a phenomenal job of helping us.
Bellasima Poloski Valentina: The building & parking is confusing. However, random staff members throughout the hospital were more than happy to give directions inside. They took great care of my son during his surgery. Note: make sure to take your parking ticket inside to get validated or prepare to pay a hefty fee.
Debbie Sain: This is a terrible place !!! My mom went there she fell and had a broken hip and 2 places in her wrist . Surgery on Easter Sunday. The first day she was being treated so bad she called crying and screaming for help. They sat her in a chair for over a hour and ignored her call button for help for over one hour. She called me in severe pain and they wouldn’t answer her button . The nurses were the rudest people I have seen . Mom couldn’t walk or barley move. In Things got worse from there. They continued to treat her bad. Left her food she couldn’t reach it several times . Moved her phones she couldn’t answer her family . Then she was in there 6 days and never allowed her to brush her teeth, clean up or brush her hair . This was right down unexceptional!!!!! They should be held accountable for one of the worst experiences mom and family has had !!! Beware don’t take a loved one in this torture chamber !!!!!!!!
Donna Kapala: They are terrible at returning families phone calls. I left multiple messages with questions about my family member who is a patient, I am on her HIPPA, as well as having medical poa.
Jay petroelje: Went here with my fiancé as he had a bug in his ear and was told nothing was there went to the urgent care on alpine and there was a bug in the ear that the hospital “didn’t see”
loren schultz: Most unprofessional staff I have encountered.starting with the security guards up to the dr’s. Sad situation for the city of Grand Rapids, MI.
Erin Hiebert: I feel bad for those who had a negative experience here. I had excellent care when I came in for skin cancer surgery. Everyone from the nurses to the surgeon were beyond kind and caring. Little things like extra pillows, offering me ginger ale, wheeling me to a room earlier than scheduled because I had to use the restroom (it was that or a bed pan, which I honestly didn't care either way). The parking can be a little confusing, but I've lived in a bigger city with more convoluted directions before -- comes with the territory of growing medical campuses.
Patsy Littlefield: Went there by ambulance after I had fallen and hit my head and torso on my bathtub. I was in horrendous pain with blood by my ear, not sure where is was coming from. I was eventually told I had a brain bleed, and a partially collapsed lung, but no broken bones. I was sent him with two days of pain medication. I told them I was in disbelief that my bones were not broken, and out the door I went. I was encouraged to see my doctor on Monday. I was unable to see my doctor because of the pain level I was at, and consequently no medications were given. I checked the portal and read what I had been told in the ER. Later on that same day I went in to read their diagnosis to a family member. The report was totally changed and stated I had NO signs of injury. At this point I was very confused and made an appointment with a totally new doctor close to my home. Upon making it to the “new” doctor, I was advised that I had multiple fractures! I was enduring intolerable pain all this time, taking Tylenol after the ER meds. were gone. It was inhumane. I was then sent to Osteopathic Surgeons of West Michigan, and told I needed surgery. You pay top $, so go somewhere that knows what they are doing!!!!
CHERYL: Our daughter was in ICU for two days and then to 7th floor. We cannot choose just one great nurse and staff, EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS GREAT!! That is by far the best hospital we have ever experienced. For all of the staff to be so kind and compassionate, that speaks volumes for this hospital. Wouldn’t want her to ever go anywhere else!!
Jeff Hankinson: My one and only complaint is the lack of respect from family and/or friends in the surgical waiting room. For the love of God take your phone conversations out to the hallway, or go somewhere as private as possible. If that’s not an option, then have the decency to talk quietly because no one wants to hear your damn one-sided (loud) conversation or listen to your call on speaker when it is, and should be, a private and discreet matter. Respect for others has disappeared, and that’s beyond pathetic. People are disgusting. Please ban phones in the waiting room and designate a specific area for these situations. Then again, a simple text message works wonders as long as your phone is on vibrate and others don’t have to hear the tones everywhere.
Sulie Cervera: This hospital have me traumatize. I feel like all they doing is experience and testing on babies and older adults. Nurses going out the country and returning the next day and being around sick or premature babies in the Nicu. Adults ha they just leave them there to rotten. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL TO ANYONE!
Robert Robbins: was highly disappointed on the quality of care I received since March 1, 2023.The communication was not accurate or consistent. I had a resident wish me luck with a ribcage removal which was not scheduled and nurse was not aware that a NPO was not inplace for an IR nerve block. When asked never once did any staff if I was NPO.it turns out I was and was unable to receive the nerve ablation.I am beyond anger over this situation. For a world class operation you should be highly embarrassed. Thanks to IR Nurse Elsa I will receive the procedure on this Friday. I only need to endure 2 more days.I can't thank her enough.
Kylee M. Tamminga: Nurses and doctors are great but billing department is awful. So many issues with them that it makes you never want to go to a spectrum office.
Dave: Five star nursing and services...Fifth floor..."Landmark" Building...Thanks...
Seldon Cupps (Seldor The Destroyer): Pretty nice hospital. They have nice staff as well.
Dyonne Washington: Absolutely the worst hospital ever. They treat you like an addict if your a minority.I will never ever support this place. It’s really sad how many people feel this way.
Kristine Heimler: My mother spent a week with this hospital. What a disappointment. No hot water for two days, so she had a COLD shower. Not one meal was even remotely warm. AND while in the ER her phone was stolen! Security said "sorry we can't help you". Corewell is not better or even close to the quality of what we deserve on the "medical mile"
Andy Anderson: VETERANS AVOID THIS PLACE! They have no experience dealing with the VA and veterans! Sent hubby’s RX ton the wrong number (I offered the fax number several times) andc when we got back to the VA to fill the RX, the pharmacy tried to call back to the ER bit of course spectrum was little help. Go to another ER

Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital: what do users think?
Isaias D'Oleo: In 2022 I went to the ER because of a hemorrhage. I received an excellent service at Blodgett. Both Dr. Bishop and Dr. Dilan-Szanto worked diligently to get tests ordered. Thanks for their work I discovered I had Stage III cancer. Blodgett has a very professional team, including doctors, nurses, and others.
Donals Bryant: Thank you everyone on 1st floor. So much help and even more patience!!!!
Hannah Pitcher: I had outpatient surgery here and was VERY pleased with the care I received from Amber, Alayna, Ruth, Diane, and Elli. All were extremely nice, understanding, and helped ease any nervousness I had. The doctors and anesthesia team were awesome. The registration staff left a little to be desired (they were very snappy and somewhat rude). Overall, a pretty good experience. If I had to have surgery again, I would come back.
Liz Kerwin-Wilholt: I had back surgery 4/13 and had a wonderful experience. My nurse Jessica was fantastic, great caring personality and sense of humor ;) I was made comfortable by everybody including the lab professional and all the other support staff. Good clear instructions and the ice pack they sent me home with is better than mine! Nice area for my husband to wait, reclining chairs, lockers and vending machines. I don’t want to have surgery again but if I did I would go back here!
Paxton Gray: Incredibly dismissive
Edward Dixon: Love the hospital and had both my surgeries there with no issues. The ER staff are a little rough, and they could be less rude, but overall, the care is good. The doctors are awesome, and the floor nurses are professional and compassionate. The security was good with none on their phones like some hospitals. It's an old hospital, but Spectrum has been a good experience.
Christopher Wood: They'll make you wait all day. They really don't care.
Alison Kailing: Literally everyone but one nurse abused me during my stay. Please call me. Asafp.
B K: Why changing the policies for Sickle cell anemia disease patients for some medications specially Benadryl injection...why not stopping the Benadryl pills too? Why the doctors should decide in our places what medications we should have? That's very insane since we are actually the ones who go through the pain and we know what is best for our bodies....and for me these policies concerning the Benadryl injection 💉 are stupids and the old policies should come back as they were meaning using the Benadryl injection because some people as myself can do pills.
Ron Poortenga: This review is based off my wife’s most recent stay from having hip surgery. Her first day the staff had my wife move in positions that we were told later by her therapist could have damaged her new hip. The nurses were over 2 hours late getting her pain meds to her and did not want to give her meds that would help her pain they fought us to give her meds that would help. Today we ordered dinner for her and after waiting 2 hours we were told the order never went through. The only saving Grace was a staff member named Amanda offered to pay for her to get some Panera bread, thank you so much Amanda this hospital needs more nurses like you! Overall a horrible experience for my wife at this hospital
Richard Hatkowski: Brought my wife home this past Monday after 8 days following surgery at Blodgett Hospital. Of course we're thankful for our surgeon Dr. Ryan Figg. Also want thank Dr. Kim and Dr. Modi. Nurses Janna, Rachel, Alecia, Ruth. Assistants Olga, Kenji, Brooke. Ostomy nurses Ann and Melissa. I'm sure I've left out some names. Everyone was so helpful, even nurses and assistants who weren't necessarily assigned but popped in to help from time to time answering the nurse call button. All of you were very caring for my wife and I felt like a welcomed guest. The food is very good and the room service personnel are prompt and attentive and just as caring. Can't say enough good things about Blodgett Hospital. Free parking is a plus. Thank you.
Shirley Grahek: Excellent nursing care. RNs listen and care. All staff are great. Food hot and tasty. Docs listen and treatments are appropriate. Shirley E Grahek MSN
Steve Grody: Identity crisis again. This time around it's a name that sounds like a college sophomore was involved. Not listening to staff and community, and spending wastefully
Susan Verwys: We visited the ER Dept. on 1/18/22. It was very busy and we waited for about 2 1/2 hrs. to be seen. The nurses and techs worked diligently to take care of patients. I admired their professionalism during a hectic time. The nurse assigned to my husband was was excellent. (I am sorry we cannot remember her name.) Both Dr. Bishop and Dr. Pham worked diligently to get tests ordered and communicate with my husband’s doctor. My husband was well cared for.
Riley Mitchell: I had a complication with my procedure, and I've been sitting in an ER exam room for 3 hrs. All I've been given is pain and anti nausea meds and a steroid pill. The doctor even handed my partner the examination light because he couldn't seem to see my clear injury. I even showed him photos I took
Dawn Larsen: They picked a sheet / blanket off the floor and put it on the bed ,my guy slept in his jeans for 2 days there was no tooth paste or they never told him wear it was, his bed looked like it was sat in,. the heat was at 80
Keith “Blaze” McLennan: Delivering here in a 53ft trailer is a challenge. Take your time and don’t be afraid to get out and look. They are really good at getting you unloaded asap
David Thomas: On July 1st 2021 I had a horrible motorcycle accident, ended up at Blodgett after I was transferred from Butterworth. I had a broken neck, right femur, pelvis, burst bladder, left fibula and tibula, and left forearm. Rachel was my OT and Brian was my PT but they were awesome not only for rehabilitation of my many injuries but for making me laugh and giving me the spirit and drive that I was alright. I am now stronger than I was before my accident which is my goal that drove me, crossfitting again and crushing my old Personal Bests. They showed me my accident was just a temporary bump and that I could use it to make myself a better human. Thanks Rachel, Brian, and everyone at Blodgett who cared for me in what could have been a dark time ,I would love to come in and visit you guys and show you how far ive come someday. You guys were AWESOME.David Thomas
Kelsey Heath: My dad was treated here in September for low sodium levels bc they couldn’t figure out the cause of his pain and that’s all they could come up with, also cleared of his cancer returning, he was sent home with no solution for his pain. 4 hospitals later he got his diagnoses after having to travel to Cleveland. He died last week from metastatic brain and spinal cancer. Go somewhere else to get your answers.
Jessy Lee: Great hospital they’re taking very good care of me but can you please make sure the people that deal with us in the hospital are nice to us? I called room service and the lady was absolutely rude to me I already don’t feel good I’ve been stuck in bed for 2 days I don’t need someone snapping at me with attitude. This happened 12-6-22 at 6:10pm
jose paguada: Great people G.I.Bins was called to Service all the Trash bins

Trinity Health Saint Mary's - Grand Rapids: what do users think?
Binto D: Horrible horrible staff, they took so long checking my sister in and then were behind the desk not giving a care in the world about us. The wait is unacceptable, worst experience ever. I recommend spectrum.
Abdulrahim Alagha: Thank you. My wife delivered our first baby during the covid lockdown. We were amazed! The stuff is friendly. The nurses are cooperative and highly responsive. Special thanks to the hospital management team and to the Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Luca Fletcher: My brother came in with his hand swallen up like he got bitten my something venomous. My brother James could get worse. He really need help bad. No one wants to help. He's been waiting for 3 hours. What's wrong with staff here. I thought you get help when it's an emergency. Not here trust me when I got see my brother go through horrific pain. Later that day I went to go get a soda. Nurse did not want to help me find my way back to my brother. They knew he was.
larry peterle: My wife had Para Throid surgery there. The doctor was really good at his work. My Mom left this world there. Normally I would not kid anyone at the point of leaving this world but she was the exception. Some people's faith is so strong that all they can say is they have been waiting with a smile. Their courage replaces your loss with pride of being part of them.
Dillon Clapp: Instead of treating the issues that cause you to have mental health breakdowns they will call the police on you instead of helping you treat the problem. This place does not care about their patients and like to refuse care to those in need. Will NEVER go here again and don't recommend going here to anyone else!
Jacky Cauley: Beyond helpful and caring. I came in from out of town to make sure everything was ok with my unborn baby. They were detailed and I did not wait very long at all to be seen.
Sultan Racing: Thank you for everything today!!! We couldn’t be happier for our daughter’s surgery and recovery!! Everything we hoped for has happened. We are feeling truly blessed ❤️
Jordan Smith: My birthing experience here was amazing. Everyone was extremely nice, made sure I was comfortable, got me the things I needed, and provided me great education for my baby
jack hitts 3: Worst hospital was treated with zero respect or choice in my medical decisions
Samantha Esch: I had an appointment to get a an ultrasound at the breast center of trinity health. When I arrived to my appointment I parked across the street in a trinity heath marked parking lot. unbeknownst to me, I was not allowed to park there. The security guard came running out of the building literally screaming at me that I could not park there. I told him I had an appointment and thought I could as long as I had an appointment. He continued yelling at me that I just cannot park anywhere I want and that there is a designated parking area for where I was going. He then started throwing out accusations. He stated "I have seen you here all the time I have talked to you before about this you cannot park here". All of this was yelled at me. I had never interacted with this man prior and had never even been to a trinity health location prior to this incident. I tried to ask where I could park and he continued yelling at me and interrupting me that I just need to move my car. I stated that we had never met before and I had no idea what he was talking about and he continued to accuse me of "just parking wherever I want all the time". Even though I asked repeatedly where I could move my vehicle to, he never informed me he just said "there are places you can park for that building". I understand that I had parked in the wrong spot and would have been happy to move my car had he come out and explained the situation but instead I got screamed at and thrown accusations that were entirely untrue during an already stressful time when I was seeking serious medical care.
Zac: Came in with a broken hand and left with it in worse condition.. the technician who put on my cast wasn’t even suppose to be doing it “he made sure we knew” he failed putting it on twice by the tending PA, now my finger might need surgery due to wrong places splint, also every medical provider keep asking if I need plain pills after saying no…..
Jacqueline Villegas: The icu in the Hauenstein center was unpleasant to say the least. A lot of their staff, such as the day nurse and charge nurse, could use a refresher course on socio-emotional competencies and mercy/ Trinity health’s “values” as what they pride themselves in. The only positive experience I had with their staff was Melissa and Say - professional and kind/compassionate. When a family is undergoing a stressful time due to a loved one who is in critical condition , no attitude is needed, lack of empathy and sympathy is not needed, lack of mercy is not needed. I would recommend the other main hospital DT; hopefully they’ll demonstrate true/genuine care for the patient and will demonstrate hope and perseverance to do what is necessary and avoid doing what is not necessary.
Marquis Amon: Amazing hospital. The staff was extremely kind, and very skilled at their work. My son was injured, and as soon as we arrived, they not only treated him like their own family member, they treated him with the utmost emergency care and kindness. This hospital is truly a Gods Send.
Adam Christians (GeminiClone): ER is not equipped to deal with mental health issues as required by their partnership with the county. Once admitted to the hospital, staff was amazing. However, the 12hrs of neglect in the ER makes me question their abilities as a competent medical organization that I want to visit in the future.
Rodd Deep (TENDEEP): Helpful, caring and attentive
Jacob Feldpausch: My Father (58 yo M) has had kidney failure since 2018 with Blue Cross Blue Shield health coverage with General Motors having almost Twenty Five years in. He went to St. Mary's hospital for treatment for Three years. It took them Three years to tell him he wasn't eligible for a kidney. They weren't even competent enough to tell a healthy kidney recipient (compared to others) that he couldn't do them because their cardiologist used a stethoscope on his chest and said he had a flutter. No further tests done just told he wasn't an eligible candidate. They WASTED so much of his short lived time! Really consider any other place besides St. Mary's, most people with kidney failure don't have much time at all to waste on this kind of incompetence you will fall through the cracks with this organization.
Jennifer Dibble: Grand river cardiology is my place to go for 14 year's. Fran the receptionist Amazing! If you have a heart conditiin like I do, go here.
Ashley Duimstra: Five + stars go to Shannon Mengyan and all the nurses on the Labor and Delivery and post delivery floor! Incredible care, service, and helpfulness with patient, baby, and family!!
Judy Hammond: My husband has had the best staff, doctors, everyone here is professional, kind and knowledgeable...highly recommend
Sherrie Phillips: Qent to get my eye checked out to see if my retina was tearing had my vitals checked, the on staff doctor look in my eye and sat in a room for hour and half with no testing or an eye doctor coming to see me and got a bill for over $1000 and a 2nd bill for a phone consultation for $724. But no one ever came back to tell me if the retina was tearing or not? Finally just left to go see my regular eye doctor who got me in right away.
Monique Franklin: Normall it’s my favorite hospital to go to but today I went in I have this terrible pain on my right side feels swallowing no bruising not even tender to touch but it hurts like hell they took me back and literally online took my urine said it was fine despite my pain he’s sure nothing is going to bust open and there is nothing else he can do so I ask can u please check my blood to make sure my livers and gallbladder and appendix and spleen are all functioning correctly he says no there’s nothing else we can do I’m sure u a be fine like r u serious what’s going on with the hospital where they don’t even wanna run test on you just let me go home and stay in terrible pain
