GRR Viewing Area: what do users think?
Kevin Caldwell: Awesome place to stop and relax.
Jamie Dehaan: Nice spot to watch planes take off and land. A few picnic tables available to sit at or bring a blanket/chairs to sit outside to watch.
Ethan Shotts: Nice place to plane spot
Tom Bos: Great viewing area. We’ll taken care of with many parking spots, picnic benches and restrooms.
Mark H. Rosenberger: Outstanding venue for aviation buffs.
chris kopecky: When the official viewing area closes at 8pm, many cars will gather in the cul-de-sac here just outside the parks gate in the summer months to see the sunset and the airport operations at dusk. Often times up to 20 cars here for a half hour before and after sunset into civil twilight. Great afterglow viewing especially on nights with 30-70% cloud coverage at medium to upper levels. Good spot if you don't have an hour to drive to the lakeshore.

VIEWING AREA Gerald R. Ford International Airport: what do users think?
Ahlam Soliman: Since we moved to Michigan, this is the place to go to entertain as a family. A cheap way to picnic watching planes taking off and landing. The place is usually clean. The restroom is decent.Today, we encountered a situation that sparked me writing this review. Our son shot the soccer ball high that it crossed the fence to the prohibited area. I called the airport communication center and within five minutes, a police officer came and gave us the ball back. That was really appreciated. They responded to our request promptly. This place is safe as well. We see security car driving around constantly.
mark mennenga: Great place, great viewing, picnic tables, bathrooms. Be aware the vending machine is not cooled, the pop is very warm, bummer
John Dykstra: Went out and picked up lunch with my Fiance, and then we went to the Airport viewing area...It was such a gorgeous day out, and the wind wasn't that bad at all...We got to the viewing area , and took our lunch and sat down at a picnic table...The viewing area was pretty clean , and well taken care of...I think that its a great idea for them to have that area there, so people can just go and sit and relax and watch the planes come and go..
Nathan Ostema: Awesome space to watch planes land and takeoff. Nice picnic table throughout the space.
Lisa: I come here to think about life...something about the massive force of a jet engine calms me down. They have very clean bathrooms too, so that's a plus.
Devin: its a fun spot to go to watch planes take off and land. also there are occasionally food trucks there.
4th Geer: A relaxing and peaceful destination.
Kylie Kotlarczyk: Always fun! Always windy. It was well maintained and a lot fewer seagulls compared to when I went there as a kid
Eve Kennedy: I just like sitting at the airport viewing area. I have never been inside. Never been on a single plane for that matter, ever! But the airport viewing area is large, lovely, has a bathroom, and picnic tables. Keep in mine no matter how windy it is in town it will be WAY windier there. Brr!
Nanci Crisp: Dogs, you HAVE to go here! I had to be on the leash but there was TONS of green grass with nothing to poke my paws. I didn't find any of those things that humans throw down after making smoke. I got to go on a Sunday and there were hardly any humans there, I got to explore without humans wanting to touch me. My mom got tired so we sat down at one of the tables in the shade, the ground there was hard but it helped me cool down. I saw a few dogs but there's SO much grass there I got to be by myself. My parents like looking at the sky and they liked the big noises. It was kinda scary but they didn't last long. There was lots of space for me in the room when mom had to pee. This place is WAY better than my park. You gotta go here!
Dan DeVillers: Great overview of GRR, but it closes at night!
Scott Candler: Stupid fun. Great for killing a half hour! Picnic tables, covered viewing areas, clean restrooms. All free!
D. Joseph Aho: Love this place! It's a relaxing little park, and a great place to daydream about your next vacation.
Matt H (Holdy_the_Great): Updated 8/22: the GRR viewing area is a great place to visit. Plenty of greenspace with picnic tables and benches. There's accessible parking and bathrooms as well. Great wide open sight lines and unlike busier airports, you're fairly close to the runway. I love coming here to just sit and relax.
Rob Vermaire: Viewing area is great place to eat lunch and watch planes come and go. Very relaxing.
Brett Hoover: I mean... it's a parking lot. Where you sit, and watch planes. 🤷‍♂️
Caleb Befus: Great place to watch the airplanes
Sandy Champion: Great Viewing spots. Well patrolled by airport police. Restroom is nicely maintained.
Mark Moerdyk: A great place to watch planes and have a picnic! Love going there with my kids. Nice bathroom facilities. Also a really good place for birdwatching, particularly for grassland species, rare owls, and raptors.
Rion Fall: Great pace to take the kids out for a picnic and also nice to to get a bit of R&R in-between flights/pickups.
Ethan Tymensky: Generally pretty busy, but everyone goes to simply watch planes! Bathrooms are well taken care of, just generally dirty from people being gross (toilet paper tossed on the floor). Overall great place for a picnic, date, or even just plane spotting!
