Grand Rapids Station: what do users think?
Nicole Brown: This station is not equipped with staff but there is a kiosk in the entryway. Pretty good size inside, many places to sit and there is a bathroom. Train staff is nice and very helpful. I love riding the train!
Nathan B: A modern, clean, well-lit single track station in the heart of Grand Rapids. A shame it only sees one inbound and one outbound train a day, the Pere Marquette. Part of the larger multimodal facility with the Rapid and Greyhound services, parking is provided as well to those that require it.The inside of the station is open a half hour before 6am departure as well as in the late evening to catch inbound arrivals from Chicago. Amtrak’s Pere Marquette is a very enjoyable 4 hour journey, on the way to Chicago sit on the right-hand side for a great view of Lake Michigan. Cafe car and comfortable, wide seats for the journey. Whether a short day trip to Chicago or part of a longer journey, it’s the only way I travel to the Windy City.
Matthew Hall: Clean, well lit but Amtrak has removed all power outlets which in this day-and-age seems ridic
Lori Potter: Clean. Friendly staff
Frances DeVries: Very clean
John Levings: Yes, GR's train station is clean, functional & conveniently located to the bus station. One departure daily is the shortcoming.Amtrak's Kalamazoo station offers 4 trains daily - each direction (Detroit Chicago). The Rapid should offer shuttle service to from its central station to connect w/ those trains...
G. Blake Meike: Clean, simple, functional. Not near food/services, so BYO
Bruce McCoy: Why is there no local phone number to this location?
Robert J. Woldhuis: Very clean station. It is only open for about an hour or so in the morning and again at night in between 11 p.m. and midnight. That is the only two times that the Amtrak train leaves and arrives.
Brittney McClain: It was easy to find and a easy onboarding. Friendly staff. Im a first time rider. Was a little nervous but the seats and set up make confortable atmosphere. Rocks alot only been going for ten minutes about. That is alittle scary. But hopefully that subsides as we get moving along more. And when they first get the train going dont be alarmed when it jerks backwards they dont give any heads up on that.
T Lockridge: Wow I call reservations after online complications...i give departure city and destination with dates website stated had 3 stations in destination city...but representative stated none in city I ask well where I'm state...she told me they have no way of knowing city's with station ..so they don't lnow where they going that's frightening..lol..but the part that befuddled me was . she wanted me to at random name City's in destination state wow...she then just DISCONNSETED AND TRANSFERED me into survey Q...WHER ON SCALE 1-5. I GAVE A 1 AND DISNT EVEN listen to the questions...well n back to faithfully GREYHOUND..SMH
Jeffrey Kneer: Nice new Train station. Clean and super friendly employees
Clark Van Halsema: Convenient, well-lit station, clean building and restrooms.
Shannon R: Very nice station! Friendly and helpful staff, clean location!
Al Kach: Amtrak GR station is a way to travel along the Lakeshore and to Chicago. Very convenient. It takes a bit longer leaving and returning travels thru GR & Wyoming because of city streets and freight rails as well. So another great option is to catch the Amtrak at Holland if you can get there. Either way, it is better than driving back and forth and fighting traffic. Highly Recommended.
luis rodriguez: Quality dropped recently: cramming more seats on trains, prices just as high, lacks comfortability, still sharing rails with freight causing frequent delays.
Alisha S: Old man was crotechety, but other train dude super cool. Five stars!
Erica Gragg: My first time taking a train and it was nice
Marie Lavalle: See ya
Tyler Kroeker: Took the train from Lincoln NE to Grand Rapids MI and it was quite the trip! Obviously taking the train is going to be a longer trip, but time wasn't a factor. It was fantastic to see the changing landscape, walk around the cars and talk to strangers, or grab a drink from the food car. If you're in a hurry a train is not the way to go. If you want to enjoy a nice, scenic trip then taking the train is the way to go.
Ryan Schaefer: We booked out train tickets to Chicago from Grand Rapids 3 months before our trip I recommend doing so as soon as you think you decide you're taking the train! - Saved some $ this way. Train ride was smooth and on time. It was 40 degrees when we arrived at the station and it was nice we could lounge without out jackets. Cafe below the deck - recling seats - foot rests and curtains. Pleanty of space to kick back and take a nap. I would recommend ear plugs or head phones just because this is still a train. No wait for bathrooms, each cart has 5! Now, if only the aircrafts could get on this level of space. Great experience overall and saves us from having to pay to park in Chicago.
