David Kaiser: I used to ride those buses to/from school when I was little. When AM routes end, bus drivers need to start dropping off passengers 10-15 minutes early. Also, when school ends, bus drivers need to arrive 5-10 minutes after the bell. This is still Grand Rapids Public Schools.

Brooke Devereaux: Always extremely late. No communication to parents or school when busses are running 2+ hours behind. My son has to miss an entire school day bc of Dean's transportation. When asked why the bus is late, I was hung up on. Best to drive your own student if you are able too. If you have a way to avoid using Dean's transportation all together, I highly suggest it. Dean's is poorly ran and the dispatcher is unfriendly and clearly hates her job. 🤦🏻♀️
Derrick Cox: Bus driver completely unqualified!! My DISABLED CHILD WAS HURT ON THEIR BUS DUE TO FAILURE OF BUS DRIVER. Management couldn’t even make sure the bus was on time either. Worst service ever!!
KILLy Munster: My child's regular bus drivers are very nice & dependable but we've had bad experiences with a few of the substitute drivers. One was flat out unprofessional and the others were extremely late due to poor communication from their dispatchers. This business needs serious revisions on management, communication and professionalism.Edit September 2017. Dean is doing better this year with their phone etiquette but my child's bus ride is averaging a hour & twenty minutes after his class is dismissed.Edit January 2021. Bus service from Dean is awesome this year. Great communication from bus drivers & dispatchers.

Lauren P: Do not use this company for bussing if you can avoid it. They're terrible!! Always late or don't show up, new drivers all of the time so you never know the driver, they have showed up to pick up my kid after school already started (more than once and this was a sunny day in September, (weather wasn't an excuse) and at one point they were going to take my child (who can't speak due to speech issues) to the wrong daycare!! She wouldn't have been able to communicate that she was in the wrong place or anything. They shouldn't be in charge of taking care of kids in any way. Read the reviews from PARENTS on here, they're all 1's. They had employees go on and submit 5 star ratings to boost their overall rating above a 1 star. Don't depend on them for anything with your kids.
Review Geek 616: Sept 23 2020 they totally decided not to pick any kids up for school. Unorganized at the call center. They seem cheery and happy when they arrive in morning and afternoon, no problems with drivers just today when we waited and waited and then teacher told us no kids were picked up. We will see how the rest of the year go. Maybe the drivers have covid right now and needs to quarantined, very much understand then. I usually update reviews so check every 30 days for updates.

Michaela Greydanus: The busing his horrible and they can show up when ever they feel like to pick up my kids. What's the since of calling me and giving me a time for pick up and drop off when they are pick up my kids 10 mins early or drop them off 10 mins late? When there pick up times are 8:20am and drop off is 11:54am n for afternoon pick up is 12:05pm n drop off is 3:40pm. When u call the bus garage they are rude as hell half the time or they won't answer the phone. They need better bus drivers and people working at the bus garage. The lady at the bus garage told me this morning that they can come early or late. So when I asked her about the time the bus driver have me that it was just a estimate time. So they are telling me that the bus pick up time doesn't matter? They can show up whenever they fell like it. The lady was like yup.

Andre Sanford: Amazing how people fail to understand transportation. Weather, traffic, and information failures from the customer (district) all fall on Dean. Phones constantly, with changes.It's a tough business. Sit in a dispatch office sometime. Parents calling and actually cursing, and acting terrible. Calling and yelling is not effective. Yet thousands are safely transported daily. Even dealing with constant route changes, rude drivers in traffic, & slippery roads.

Corey Swiftney: They have left my daughter and several other kids four times this year. That is actually not as bad as our experience the prior two years. Our experience with Dean has been horrendous. I have called and left several messages and been completely ignored I pray GRPS fires this company quick.

Amber Taggart: If I could give negative stars I would. Multi-million dollar contract with GRPS but can't even provide the services they're contracted for. Leave parents scrambling. You can watch your kids bus on the app never even stop for them but then be told by dispatch that the bus came early, no wait, it was late. Even though your kid stood out there for 15 minutes on either side of their pick up time and you watched it on the app never come. They can't even keep their story straight.
Samantha Breen: Pretty much every other review is correct. You call with an honest question and the people who answer the phone are very rude and talk over you as you try to ask them something. They never seem to take accountability for any of their issues. They have reckless drivers, speeding down residential streets and slamming on their brakes to let kids off, with no apparent regard for other cars or pedestrians. There have been multiple times where the bus just doesn’t come to its scheduled stop at all, or shows up so late that kids are waiting out in the snow for half an hour before they get picked up. They’re wildly unprofessional and not even reliable. I don’t understand why GRPS and many other schools continue to sign contracts with such a company.
Appraise 231: This place is HORRIBLE!!!They underpay their loyal employees and they bring in new employees at the same rate as the employees who have been there for years. They use loop holes and janky tactics to avoid paying their employees what they deserve.

steph val: I never knew people could be so rude !!!!We have a child who needs bussing .We are right on the border and yet the rude lady who answered the phone could care less.She had a attitude from the beginning.She then told me that the rout director will not even look at the schools request for another 2 weeks for walk backs for elementary students.Then laughed when I said I had called earlier but there was a misunderstanding on the name of the employee who answered the phone .This is absolutely disturbing 😳.There was such a lengthy time off due to covid you would think 🤔 people would be happy to be back working.Why on earth would any one have someone so rude answering the phone !!!!!!!!Kids rely on transportation, parents need help with transportation.Yet some one can answer the phone not leave any options and have a conversation with some one and be so rude .Total abuse of power and the unit for transportation should be reevaluated when concerning there employees.

My son missed his bus after school along with several other kids who ride the same bus, and I was basically told it was the kids' fault. Come to find out, the driver was a sub, so the bus was not in the same place it usually is--NOT the kids' fault. I had trouble with Dean when my younger son was in PK too, so this is not an isolated incident. Zero communication and zero accountability. It's very troubling to me that they are allowed to conduct business the way they do.

Grand Rapids Public schools needs to reconsider having a contract with them. It reflects bad on the school and is not fair to the children.

Khan Hollis: The "professional" drivers of Dean Transportation make it their daily goal to speed down residential streets, to blow thru intersections well after the light has turned red, and delight in blocking traffic.Today, was the icing on the cake in regards to the "Professional" Drivers of Dean Transportation. I was trying to drive thru an intersection where we both had the green greet except the bus driver turned in front of me and blocked the intersection for both lanes of traffic so they could "make the light" and not have to wait for the light to cycle back to our turn again.This bus driver put every single child that was onboard the bus at grave risk to their life and limb while the bus blocked the intersection. Luckily, no one plowed into them who may not have been paying attention.I've seen this time and time again where Dean Transportation's professional drivers blow thru red lights and put every single child riding the bus at risk and endangering the very lives entrusted to them by parents of Greater Grand Rapids, MI.I've placed calls as a concerned citizen more than on one occasion and have only got voice mails. I've took the time a number of times to leave specific details on my observations along with my contact number only to never get a call back from their management. It's obvious that the management of Dean Transportation does not care about what their drivers are doing around town.It's unfortunate that they will only begin to care when it's too late and a child is harmed and/or maimed by the very hands that should be protecting our young and defenseless children.
