Killo Watts: Has this place improved since the '90s? Even though I told them my son had a serious recent head injury, they put him in the top bunk (3 high) and he fell and got another concussion. They would not help with medical bills incurred. My other son was terribly bullied and beat up by other campers, a trauma that remained with him for years. It was one of the worst decisions I ever made as a parent to send them there.

Troy Lawson: Even though the skeeters were out, my friend and I had a great hike on the trails. Love the fact that it's close to where I live.

Mitchell “Mitch” Scot: Lived by the place for decades. Know the people working there and everything that happens back there. I would never send my children here after personal experiences with the staff as a child and all the neighborhood stories from our parents about what happens back there. Can confirm it is the same unpleasant man that works there smelling of cigarettes deer blood and children. Patrick.
Richard Weldon: The guy that runs the place who was a heavy smoker. Bruised my arm and harassed me as a child probably 15 years ago. Don't know if I'd want my children around him.
Rick and Brenda Becker: I didn't have the opportunity to go to Camp Optimist BUT I did have a close friend who did! This was many years ago 🤣 I'm talk in 1975! Anyway... Sorry about the rabbit trail. Stopped by Camp Optimist for work and met Patrick! Patrick has been the manager at Camp Optimist for many years and he was wonderful! I'm sure Camp Optimist is still a great place for kids to enjoy an experience of lifetime!
Angie Hayner: Spent several years here as a kid. Even worked a couple summers. I really loved this place I was broken hearted when they closed their doors. Looks like they are back and running. Will definitely have to stop in sometime
