Ken S: So, I love this place. Government buildings are typically slow, but I was in and out with my permit in minutes. Staff was responsive and respectful. It makes me happy to our city has an effective local government.They’ve been responsive and always get back to me. Gina was very helpful!

Laura Muresan: What a great place to get a passport! Because this is one of the few places in the Grand Rapids-area where you don't need an appointment to get a passport, I expected a wait; because it's a government entity, I also expected to have some sort of bureaucratic troubles; I couldn't have been more wrong. The passport counter is just steps inside the door; we were served immediately, with friendly, patient service. Some of our documents needed photocopies, which the clerk copied for us at no additional charge rather than sending us elsewhere. I also noticed that if you need a passport photo, the charge is $10, rather than the $15 many other places charge. While I can't speak to Kentwood City Hall's other services, I highly recommend going here for a passport. Ample free parking, convenient bus service, and nearby bike trails make this a convenient spot, too, regardless of your mode of transport.
