TATSE: what do users think?
Jennifer Trocke: This place looks closed. Drove from out of town and the chairs were all stacked up, no hours on the doors, etc. We came at 5pm on a Saturday and the reported hours are 4-8 that day.
Alexander Woods: I love, love, love the food here!! I have been excited about this place since it came to Lansing. The owner is a great person and you can taste the high quality of food provided and the friendly service given. My go-to is a spicy chicken bowl with the vegetables and plantains. Great music, great staff, and they even have events to attend on the weekends. Just ask!Parking: It's city parking, so it's free after a certain time but you have to use the passport app or the kiosk to pay for parking. It's not expensive in my opinion.Wheelchair accessibility: There is a handicap parking spot, next to a even surface to use a wheelchair
C Blanks: I really enjoyed my meal at Tatse! The food was flavorful and tasted like someone put their heart into creating a comforting meal with fresh, quality ingredients.
Sean B: Wow! Is all I can say about an unexpected culinary delight. A small unobtrusive store front hides a great food experience a stones throw from the State Capital. We would have walked by if the owner wasn't coming out.Our order was taken at the counter, and brought to our table. It is a small menu, but the food is good. Alcohol options, canned soda and beer available.Food is delicious. Definitely something out of the ordinary. Large spicy chicken bowl, small chicken bowl and 2 drinks were 42 dollars. Not a bad deal for something out of the ordinary in downtown Lansing.Family owned and run, with a chill atmosphere this place becomes a nightclub after 10:00.I will probably go back the next time I am in town.
Lori Smith: I love the Fufu and 🍲 🍜 🍵Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5 …More
Myah Gamet: The atmosphere, food, and the staff were all amazing, and i cannot wait to come back and try more!!! So exciting to see new and delicious food in Lansing
Mitchell Hemesath: This place is great. Food is very delicious and it is fast. I wish they had more options on the menu, but what they have is amazing.Vegetarian options: I think their bean bowl and veg bowl are vegetarian.
Metaga Moïse Dembele: African vibes with great-tasting food, music, and atmosphere. YOU! Need to check it out for yourself to feel it!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Jeremie Jay: The fufu is not good it’s not even fufu 🤦🏾‍♂️ y’all need to get the white oneVegetarian options: Idk what to say fr but y’all need to do good fr
Kris Kobylarz: Food was delicious! We loved the Spicy Chicken Bowl! Goat in the Egusi was good too!Would have loved to give it 5 stars but it was a bit expensive.Very good culinary experienceRecommended dishes Fufu with Egusi, Spicy Chicken …More
Stacyann “Cici” Clarke: Food is a little expensive, but extremely delicious and worth every penny. This place has a unique ambiance, vibrant style, and friendly service. The only change I think would be helpful is better take out containers, (maybe plastic instead of the cardboard containers for the egusi soup). Again food quality and taste is spot on.....yummy. I will definitely be back.
QweenBee: Food: 3/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5More
Aquina Huntley: Fufu and Egusi soup was delicious 😋will definitely be back. Had a nice experience here and the inside of the restaurant was a vibe with the music playing!
Meghan Mcbride: We had the fufu and egusi and it was soooo good. We also had chicken with it that just melted in your mouth. 10/10 would recommend this place. The vibes are so laid back and relaxing.
Alis: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Égusi Soup and Gari Palm FufuMore
Angela Zeigerbacher: Great food! I've tried the veggie bowl, bean bowl and yam bowl and they're all great. Perhaps the yam bowl is my favorite and definitely a side of the delicious plantains!Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Hojoon Kim: I used to live in East Africa. This restaurant is more rooted in West Africa which is something I have not tried before. Nonetheless food is as authentic as it gets. With first bite you will know how much effort has been put into the food. Highly recommend this place
Bill McClain: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Parking space Plenty of parking Parking options Free street parkingMore
KeyBreed: I am writing this review from a place of pure embarrassment and sickness. Thinking I would trying something new and support local black owned businesses I ignored all red flags from them not having what I originally wanted to the rudely unenthusiastic person taking my order. I did not know I was gonna be robbed of a beautiful day, being spent not knowing which end this $20 spicy chicken bowl was gonna forcefully come out of me. I’m truly disappointed in myself for not turning around after walking into this place. I didn’t enjoy this meal I didn’t even eat 25% of it. I’m just glad I didn’t let my son nor my dog eat this. So please people do not be like me. Go somewhere else.
Lori W: Great food nice owner we'll be backFood: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Blaine Buckingham: Stopped In for Lunch after hearing about the food... I am In LOVE!! Sooo good!! I'll be back for sure!Service was great! Food was prepared really quickly and neatly..I'm soo impressed really! :) give them a try!!

Altu's Ethiopian Cuisine: what do users think?
Gwenavre Chaffee: Great food that leaves me feeling full but not bloated, wonderful staff who seem like a family to each other, good prices, and good smoothies. I'm so glad this is local for me.
Jennifer Crispin: One of my favorite places to eat in Lansing. The food is ALWAYS amazing, the service pretty fast, and we always have a good time. There are so many options for both the vegetarians and the meat eaters. Will change the way you feel about Lima beans forever.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5Recommended dishes Vegetarian Combo …More
Shafaq Gill: The food was good.Food: 5/5|Service: 4/5|Atmosphere: 4/5 …More
Elizabeth Woodford: My Hubby had the spicy lentils with half rice and half injera. I had the meat and veggie combo with spicy chicken and mild chickpea sauce. The meals are served with salad and cabbage with collard greens and injera. The injera is fermented so it does have a sour flavor and it's quite spongey. The custom is to use the injera to scoop the meat or vegetable side into your mouth. It was delicious. The sambusa was a vegetarian filling of lentils and it was spiced to perfection. I must return to try more🤩 Extremely reasonable in price and humble food
Sara S: Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Spicy Lentils, Spicy Beef, Spicy Pinto Beans, Mild Split Yellow PeasMore
Phenix Patton: Fantastic restaurant experience. Unique food with a very deep flavor. Server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was great, really loved music and the low lighting.Costs around $50~ for three people to eat, not including the tip.Vegetarian options: Full Vegetarian menu is available at this restaurant.
Alyssa Nichols: I am updating my review. I tried to eat here and arrived at 2:10ish. They close at 2:30. They said we could not dine in. I was very disappointed and left. If they won’t accept a table for dine in then they should change their hours or turn off their open sign. It will be a long while before I consider dining here again. We eat here frequently. One of the best places for Vegetarian eating in the Lansing area.
B B: Huge portions. Everything was delicious.

Jakup Abedin: I thought this place was amazing from start to finish. The only thing I'd want more about this restaurant is more sides and more sauces. It's lacking in those. Other than that, I love the culture, ambiance, food and take on authenticity. I ordered chicken off the bone platter. The meat was very tender and it had a lot of flavor!! I'll stop typing and let my pictures do the rest of talking...
J C: Food was good. Coffee wasn't served in any kind of traditional Ethiopian way..I was very disappointed by that actually as an Ethiopian food lover. Coffee came out in a "IHOP mug"🙄The restaurant was nice but we didn't like the part that it was VERY Westernized. I didn't FEEL the authenticity except the food was authentic. I've been to so many Ethiopian restaurants from DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania and to Grand Rapids but this was the first time feeling this way (disconnected from the culture..?!) We just didn't like the vibe🙏🏼
Rhiannon Simmons: We never miss the Thursday special. Food is wonderful and the staff are a delight.Food: 5/5|Service: 5/5|Atmosphere: 5/5Recommended dishes Injera, Sambusa with Lentils …More
