Capital Area Humane Society: what do users think?
Justin Otten: 2 many cuties
Perseus Jason: Staff are wonderful, super helpful getting the right animals into loving homes.
Justin Garcia: We love our dog Lilly 💕 thank you to the staff
Stephanie Williams: We are able to take this sweet boy drath on a field trip for a few hours to give him a break from the shelter. He was the sweetest boy who loved all ppl and all pets. We had soch a good time. He never barked or misbehaved. He was so tolerable of everything.
Sheri Rodgers: My mom adopted a new friend and it has made such a difference for her. The staff here and kind and patient.
Google User: I like that you can pet the other animals but its stupid that you can pet the kittens unless you adopt them that day. everytime ww want to pet them we get a lie that they just were spaded and neutered same bs they told us last time and its the same kitten. how they gonna get adopted if nobody can hold them? whats the big deal? my kitten got soaded and neutered and I held them the same day so whys it a big deal even if they were???
Ashley Parks: This place is so unfair. People do run in to troubles and have financial problems all americans do.... But to feel so humilated becuase Megan comes in and says we have bad news and that we cant addopt becuase we used there food bank service like really how rude to not feel like where unstable to have a cat becuase ya we went down for a minute who doesnt have these moments in there life but to feel so horrable walking out of this place being bashed on about using there food bank is the worst feeling ever i wont ever come back
Mandee King: Great place to adopt a animal they really take care of the animals that are there. They also do a surrender option in case emergencies pop off and you can’t keep your animal. It’s a small fee to surrender. The staff is so nice and knowledgeable and they know all the animals and about them. Great place to take donations to also.
Aracely Gutierrez: I got my Furrr baby from here ❤️
Chad Latz: Staff was VERY friendly, and compassionate. Would highly recommend!!
Erin Symonds: I've adopted two animals (dog and cat) from CAHS. Both have been great family pets! The staff and volunteers there are very knowledgeable about the animals. Everything felt great about adopting from them. Thank you for being such an essential piece of the community!
Vanessa Cunningham: They are very helpful I took a stray pregnant cat in there I hope they don't put her down
Gamer 48917: Friendly staff and adorable critters that need loving forever homes.
Niki W: So happy to find such a sweet kitty to take home
Glenda Wilson: Sad today 😢 we had to put our cat to sleep 😂 today.
Levi Berkshire: Great organization outstanding work!
Brooke Elward: This place was just so friendly, clean, and welcoming. There was some construction, but that did not interfere with us adopting meeting and then Harley!Every worker was super helpful and pushed us towards making a big but right decision. They had her up to date on vaccines and recently fixed. There is tons of medical papers and background help for us to make sure she has the best life. We even got to spend 15 just meeting her in a private room.I would recommend anyone stop here to volunteer, donate, or adopt. It was overall such a great place full of dogs, cats, Guinea pigs, rats, and more. Loved it!
Big J: I'm sure this place deals with so many animals that they are forced to be heartless. Having said that. Don't take any stray there unless you just want them out of your hands. I tried doing the right thing and was amazed to hear you Singh away your rights and and you probably won't get them back. I guess most ppl don't want them back if they're going there, but I took my cat and ran out the door. They fail to mention any of this on 3 phone calls.
Dawn S: I love this shelter. The employees are helpful and friendly. We are blessed to have them in our community.
K Losey: Everyone was very nice and helpful. The shelter was very clean and animals seemed happy. We adopted the sweetest puppy, too! ☺️
Shawna Cummins: Adopted this cute little rabbit yesterday everyone was so helpful and respectful they did everything they could to help us the best. But I wanna thank them because they gave my fur baby a forever home :)

Ingham County Animal Shelter Thrift Store: what do users think?
R Taneja: This store is wonderful. The volunteer staff are so kind. We donated food and artwork for the store and they were sincerely appreciative. You should check the hours weekly because they do change. They are helping the community with great discounts on all things pet. I highly recommend donating, or if you are in need, to go get your pet supplies from this wonderful little shop.
Chris Keverne (Brit): Great deal on a new coat for my pup.
Angela Brady: Very very nice woman that work there, they truly care about our pets.
Cassandra Pesino: Excellent place for our fur babies.
Niki Wolff: This place was great for yr pets needs. Especially for those families that are still struggling from the lingering effects of our financial hardships ,due to the pandemic. Highly recommend seeing for yrselves. Staff FANTASTIC.THANKS SO MUCH
Kris Ash: Great little thrift shop for animal toys, accessories and cages! They also have a dog/cat food and cat litter pantry for NON-BREEDERS! Head on in and check em out!
Christopher Bezinque: They have very good quality items of all kinds for your dog and cat needs. Low prices
Stephanie Navarro: I was very excited to learn about this volunteer staffed store! They're only open 3 days a week. They operate on donations. So, they don't always have cat litter. They do usually have cat & dog food though. 1st time customers only need an Ingham county ID, after that you'd need to supply a Medicare, SSI, or some form of reason you're on a limited income. You can purchase certain supplies for rather cheap prices.
Great Lakes Narwhal Michelle Erskine: Very helpful staff
Shannon Spainhower: Highly recommend for new and experienced pet parents!!! Prices are so good and it's very clean and organized!! Seriously check this place out.
Mary Pazitka: I can honestly say I have never been there but just seeing what they do is totally amazing and I give them 100% credit for what they do
Andrew Edwards: Excellent
Winter Ann Graham: Such an amazing selection of pet supplies all locally donated!! Highly suggest visiting.
Amanda Nevills: So very helpful
James F: Thank you so much for the big bag of food for my dog! It is greatly appreciated, you are the best!
Stephanie Howard: It is a blessing to have places like this
Jen Blake: Always helpful
Michelle Otis: Love it so nice an helpful very caring
Michael Drobney: Don’t trust them. They did a bad job on my dogs surgery. Also Rude and they gave us a hard time around every corner. We saw a staff member tell an old lady she should have left the kittens she found on the street.
John Gillespie: Lots of older dogs
Nicole Burk: Hi this is nicole i love this place it helps us out to make sure we can get our animals what we need

Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter: what do users think?
Erik Robinson: A very family friendly with excellent personal committed to help with getting you an excellent friend and family member.
Ben Eysselinck: Ingham County recently submitted a millage to rebuild this facility. It is brand new and fantastic.
Kassie Parisian: Went to look for a new doggy and we came in when they were doing a special and we fell in love with Chuckwalla so we adopted him! Love this place
C David Billingsley: I went to do a walk through to see if my missing car had been surrendered to them. She was not. But I was so impressed with the care that was given to the "found" kitties. I will be advocating for and donating whenever I can to the Ingham County Animal Control & Shelter.
Jerry T Johnson: Got directed to the wrong place by animal control
George P (HerrStache): The staff were super nice, and we found our new boi (Cranwell, the cat.) We're thrilled to have made the drive. That's one of the cleanest animal facilities I have ever visited, and just overall awesome.
Patience Miller: Very helpful getting my dog license. Clean facility. However I have heard they are no longer taking in stray cats? And yet they hired another veterinarian. Cats get lost as well as dogs. This is disappointing after voters gave them the money for the new shelter.Edited to add the answer provided was UNSATISFACTORY. If I find a stray cat that has gotten out of their home I have nowhere to take it. This is not what was promised when the money was being asked for to build a new shelter. TNR is not the answer either. Not everyone wants stray cats hanging around. I can call but I am sure I will get some fast talking as I did when I asked in person.
Ellen Snook: Wonderful people. They care about the pets.
Dallas Waite: We had to drop a stray dog off there in hopes his owners could be found. The staff there were very kind and helpful in the process of logging him in their system and were very kind to the pup. I really appreciated how they were there 🙏
Lioness of Judah: Nothing against this shelter, application process is just a bit invasive and nosey.UPDATE: I do not like this shelter!! The people are rude and insensitive when conducting an interview.Needed to rehome my animal due to some serious circumstances and was told he'd be euthanized. It is NOT easy to even have this conversation yet, no compassion what so ever yet the option to kill him was the first suggestion, he has NO medical issues, I've got Vet verification on that and they told me they'd kill him due to a medical reason. What?! THEN the cost to surrender him was almost $200!! What?! That's why we've got so many strays. Life happens. This animal has been in our family for almost 20 years, healthy, loved and it hurts to let him go and these people did not care. I don't need you to solve my problems but I do expect you to have compassion and do your best to assist me in finding viable solutions to my issue so that this animal can continue to thrive in a new home. What are you? This is disheartening 😔 and cruel. They don't need to be doing this kind of work with attitudes that show bias and approaches like this. Too many sweeping and ignorant assumptions. You're here to serve the community not dismiss the community and our fur babies. You all have one of the HIGHEST KILL rates and your staff proved it by what they said: " We'll euthanize him." For NO reason.Do not leave your babies here!!!
Aron Dawley: What kind of shelter is this! I am currently a secretly guard and just because I have a full time job nobody will let me adopt a cat or a dog. I was interested in adopting a puppy and what answer do I get NO BECAUSE YOU WORK A FULL TIME JOB YOU CAN NOT ADDOPTE what a shelter!! Do not consender me coming back.
Kim Klepper: Adopted a dog I saw on their web site. Staff responded to an email inquiry promptly, were helpful when I went to meet the dog (now named Chester), and sent home a swag bag with him.
John Pierce: Terrible place for business or spending any time at all. This kill shelter has one of the worst staff that I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Not only were they completely ignorant of every request I made, but they also blatantly lied and misinformed. There couldn't be a worse place to go
Aurora Cimmerer: Very nice customer service experience when you need you're dogs licensed and call you when they messed up.
Cheryl Switzer: Very helpful staff and facility was clean and inviting.
Ron Porter: The staff are the most caring an special people taking there days to help animals that are in need, I took In limerick an shes doing great an loving her new forever home. Thanks to you all, there's a special place in my heart I keep them thoughts
Sam: 10/10 experience with this shelter. I can't even explain how quick Honey(adopted as Meredith) became a part of our family. We fostered Honey (Meredith) for a week while she was waiting to be fixed to see if there was gonna be good chemistry with our cat and she won everyone's heart immediately. They are now best friends! The staff was amazing through the whole process and made sure we were set up with a healthy dog, on a healthy diet and fixed, all before adoption.
Rachael Hunter: Adopted a cat from here. Six months later we found out she had feline leukemia and we had to put her down. Luckily she did not infect my other cat as it is contagious. So not only do they not test their cats, but they let them around the other cats potentially infecting all of them. Going to CAHS next time where I know they care about their animals.
Lori Smith: I took my dog 🐕 there to get adopted and he wasn't there week and they killed him they didn't even give him a chance I regret I took him 😔 😪 I cry everyday 😢
Ted Wiborn: We adopted a great dog from the Ingram Country Animal Shelter. The employees are professional and very helpful. They made the whole adoption process easy, smooth and enjoyable.
Charmin O'Neil: Excellent place.. Everyone was GREAT..
