Bikram Yoga Capital Area: what do users think?
Ann F: I am not a very flexible person but I hope to still tie my shoes when I’m 90!Ann meets you where you are, in any body at any age. Her classes have improved my flexibility and strength, and helped me mentally focus the rest of the day.You can be ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD and be taught by the best yoga instructor in the world! How lucky we are!
Kyle Brown: I loved practicing so this studio!!!I came here while on tour with Wicked and Ann was so welcoming. I’ve been practicing yoga for 10+ years and finding a new studio in every city can sometimes be difficult. Ann made me feel right at home. She was very kind and the practice was both thoughtful and challenging. Just what I wanted. She gave me thoughtful tips that I will carry with me on my yoga journey. I would definitely come back here again.
Kimberly Scott: The Yoga is Medicine studio has a variety of classes and modern formats to allow members to develop and enhance physical and mental strength. The classes are approachable for beginners and for those with health conditions. Ann is very encouraging and you don’t have to have prior yoga experience to get benefits from the class. This is an all in one experience and is time well spent. Come as you are and if the heat is a barrier, there are virtual and warm classes available. After practicing for a couple of months, I have noticed a reduction in anxiety, improved flexibility, greater balancing capabilities, and better mental focus. Once you start a regular practice, you will notice something is missing on the days you don’t attend.
Kay Towers: Positive:CommunicationAnn and BYCA online has replaced my local hot yoga studio due to Covid. I have been practicing yoga for almost 10 years and Ann is the most generous, capable teacher I’ve experienced. I’m 73 and going strong with my on line yoga practice and Ann has provided the structure and inspiration to continue.
Sue Nguyen: Ann is exceptionally good at communication. She can speak to many different people at the same time without losing a beat. Her timing/counting in between the instructions is precise to a nano second.Ann teaches from a studio but she can see every single person in each little zoom box and gives feedback accurately as if she only teaches that one person and knows that person by heart. The environment that she creates here in the class is light hearted, friendly, helpful and inspiring. I immediately felt being a part of the whole community and seen in my very first class and continue to feel that way in all the class that I took.I came to Ann’s online classes and keep coming back again and again because I not only learn the techniques and many extra tips that she generously shares but also the philosophy of yoga and life through her teachings and more importantly I feel a strong connection at soul level with myself during the class and it lasts through my days.I find myself coming home and I encourage you to take Ann’s class to experience it.Thank you Ann for teaching from your heart and sharing the gems of life with me.
Denise Donohue: I didn't think of myself as a "yoga person" - whatever that is - about 5 years ago when I began coming to Bikram's studio. I run, box, mow lawn uphill and work really hard at my job. Yoga for me "quiets the voices in my head" because we get to listen to Anne or Carolyn's instructions for 90 minutes - which ends up being incredibly calming for some period of time afterwards. And the heated environment also relaxes tense muscles and allows better stretching, strength building. In a relatively short time (3 months?), I had much more range of motion in many joints, stopped a budding trigger finger and improved my ability to keep calm by "stepping outside of the situation/my own head." Well, don't have that fully accomplished yet. LOL. Bikram hot yoga has become very important to my physical and mental health. - Denise, DeWitt MI
Elaine Lande: Bikram yoga is the only thing that keeps my pain manageable. It helps me stay focused, relaxed and ready to tackle my day.
Helene Woyczesczyk: Ann is a gentle and focused instructor who offers excellent feedback to individuals looking to improve their postures. Whether you’ve gone to one or two classes or are a regular, she cares to get to know you and wants to help everyone on their journey with their practice.
Angela Sinclair: Amazing Live Stream Classes
Colleen Palmer: Bikram Yoga is the best! I have been at Bikram for many years and practice a few times a week. Bikram has helped reduce the number of migraines I get every month as well as lessen the discomfort I feel in my knees after many years of running. In addition, the hot room has been awesome for my skin. The heat allows for detoxification of my skin as it opens pores and increases circulation to the skin cells.Ann is a fantastic instructor. She is extremely knowledgeable about the anatomy/physiology of the body and is therefore able to help her students overcome discomfort associated with injuries. She knows how to modify and adjust postures and offers options even before they are asked for. She is extremely patient and gives each student her attention.I highly recommend Bikram Yoga for overall flexibility and good health! Ann offers great introductory offers all the time!
Lindsay Gray: This studio, the owner, Ann, its instructors, and the yoga technique are so exceptionally amazing that it's hard to even know how to capture it in a review. As a busy working mother with lots of time commitments, BYCA offers me, not only an comprehensive and time-efficient physical workout, but an opportunity to focus on my own mental focus and well-being.This studio offers an extremely welcoming and accepting environment for people of all types. The owner, instructors, and the yoga meets each person individually at their ability level. And if you're just looking for a physical workout, you can just focus on that (which it's amazing at , by the way!). If you're looking for a long-term investment in your mind-body, look no further!BYCA is a special gem that we have right here in East Lansing. It is truly unmatched!
Aaron Peterson: Have been doing yoga in general for close to 5 years and Bikram for about 3 years before I first took a class at this studio. Because of covid I have been doing classes almost exclusively at home. When I first arrived at the studio I was greeted with a clean studio staffed by pleasant, professional staff. The owner Ann facilitated the class that day and was by far one of my favorite classes. She taught with kindness and grace. I have a hard time concentrating on my class if the teacher is to loud or militant, not a problem with Ann. The room was the perfect temperature. I sweat profusely and have a hard time with heat but found the heat to be just right (not always the case at other studios). Bikram in a studio has enormous benefits for my joints and mental serenity. Give it a try if you need either or both!
Maureen Harrington: I fell in love with Bikram yoga in 2013 and found it to be life changing . Due to Covid I have not been in a studio since March of 2020. A couple of weeks ago I visited Ann’s studio and immediately felt like I was back home. She is beyond knowledgeable, compassionate , and encouraging . At first I felt like I was starting over again but with her guidance and wisdom I realize I am exactly where I am supposed to be . I would encourage anyone to give this yoga a try . Besides all of the physical benefits the mental effects are priceless . Thank you Ann for sharing your passion with us !!!
Sandi Jones: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityReverse aging! This yoga Is life changing beyond measure. You will never feel better- try it!
Larry brill: I am 63 and have been practicing for about 8 years . I would like to express 2 main points .1) Bikram Yoga gets you what money and medicine cant buy , living pain free . I should have been another statistic for back surgery , chiropractor bills and pain meds but practicing Bikram Yoga has negated that . As you get older you see your friends fall apart with back issues and other health issues and you start to realize you need to work at keeping your body fit to stay pain free . Bikram yoga is designed to help your body stay pain free , durable , toned and it works ! Just show up 3 to 4 times a week and you will see results better than any other modality that i know of .2 ). Ann loves her students and cares deeply about them . She is also dedicated to teaching the practice the correct way without compromise. She works hard at continuing her own education so she can teach more effectively . She provides instruction tailored to your level with the goal of progressing to higher standards .
Matt P: Authoritative, attentive instruction. User’s manual for the human condition.
Mindy Morgan: This is a wonderful studio with an inclusive and welcoming community. Ann is a tremendous teacher--knowledgeable, caring, and deeply committed to healing. My entire family has been practicing regularly since 2017, and BYCA has simply become part of our life. The facilities are fantastic--I have had the opportunity to practice in other studios across the country and this is by far the best.
Shamina Modi: I have been doing Bikram yoga for 3 years. It has helped me with my physical issues, nerve related issues, balance and concentration. Ann is passionate, compassionate and very caring teacher. If you haven't tried Bikram yoga you should because body feels great and gives lot of energy.
Megan Hirst: Positive:Communication,ProfessionalismI've just discovered Ann's online classes and will definitely become a regular. Great friendly, warm, encouraging style of teaching while still dropping a stack of really genius explanations. One of the best bikram teachers I've come across in 12 years of practicing. Thank you Ann!
Marie Deavers: I have been practicing this style yoga for a year. I live in Virginia Beach, VA and my studio stopped traditional 26x2. I needed another option. I found this studio and I am beyond pleased. I've taken Ann and Zeb's class which were both fantastic. I look forward to taking other instructors, but will definitely catch these two as much as possible.
Brenda Tis: I can’t say enough great things about BYCA and it’s owner/instructor Ann. The vibe in the studio as well as the actual yoga sequence is all-inclusive meaning it’s ideal for every age, fitness level and every body shape. I feel welcomed from the moment I walk in, but the impetus behind my regular practice is this most incredible feeling I get after EVERY class. The data doesn’t lie either: With a regular practice, my asthma is much-improved and I can eliminate my edema (thanks genetics!) better in one class than by taking a prescription water pill. I wish I would have discovered this yoga, it’s benefits and Ann’s studio sooner!

East Lansing Hot Yoga: what do users think?
Sylvia Ray: I absolutely LOVE this yoga studio! Yoga has helped my body in so many ways, and I love all the instructors, but my favorite is Mike.
Sara: I normally go to Kick Your Asana when Mike is teaching and it's an amazing workout- you always leave dripping in sweat! However, there was a sub today and against my better judgement I went. Never again. The music was awful, room wasn't hot, and he offered no intensity. I never broke a sweat. If you can't find a sub that can offer the same intensity the class promises- you would be better off just canceling it.
Emily Kozan: Great for physical and mental health. Very kind and cool people.
Milos Милош Sretenovic: Awesome instructors. Awesome classes. This is the best yoga in town.
Kristen Walcott: Great location, set up, and instructors
Gracie Baker: ELHY is a total gem. Before a few weeks ago, I've never taken a yoga class. One day I signed up for a class here on a whim and instantly feel in love. The classes are challenging yet rewarding, and the instructors always do a great job creating an inviting and accepting space for all. Totally recommend!
Jim Dogman: I could go on about how much I love this yoga studio and the people I meet there. The owner gives the best deals in town, and offers the best variety of classes. At this studio I noticed that there are classes available even on holidays, which worked very well for me. This yoga studio gets hot. You won’t be disappointed about this studio being too cold. I am very grateful this yoga studio is available.
Suzy Gadd: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityEveryone is so kind, both staff and other yoga students!! I instantly felt comfortable and am so happy I found it :)
Jessica Fang: One star off because the entrance smells pretty awful, but I guess with all the sweaty bodies that's bound to happen.
Raphaela Schlicht: I miss it so much. I wish you could open a branch in the Frankfurt/Germany area. I have not found anything even similar over here. You are the most wonderful feel-good yoga place!
A H: I liked my experience when I went here, I do agree with other reviews on the lack of regular sanitary care. Other than that, class is great. The temperature is considerably lower compared to other hot yoga places I have been to.
Nate Strauss: This studio is not only always clean with friendly people at the front desk, but it provides such an amazing and important service to this community. I couldn’t recommend this studio or its teachers more. If you want to start practicing yoga, check out a candlelight slow burn or a warming up to yoga class!
Sarah Farris: This is a great yoga studio. Many different types of classes at various times. The instructors are all very kind and supportive. Some are more intense, some more "fun" but all are down-to-earth and always help you leave feeling better than when you walked in. The classes are especially great for vinyasa flow style. I appreciate that it caters to all ages, abilities, races, genders, etc. Plus, free classes every Saturday, heyo!
Thomas Anton: Great studio. I love it!
Val M.: I love hot yoga and how good you feel after. I have been attending on and off for a couple years now. The instructors are always friendly, from my experience. The one thing I do not like about the studio in East Lansing is, it smells like dirty feet, especially in the back room (near the bathrooms/changing area). It definitely needs a deep cleaning just to remove that smell. The smell has gotten worst these last couple years. Also, when some classes are so full, that makes it hard to have a relaxing practice. There have been times, where the person next to me is dripping sweat on me, and that is disgusting because you can get ring worm from other people along with other bacteria. I would suggest not making classes so full, to the point of where people are dripping sweat onto each other, that is very uncomfortable and unhygienic. I have had to leave early a couple times due to other people dripping sweat on me, it's actually very disgusting.
David Simpson: Went there a few times and some people in the class just smell so bad. I actually watched 2 guys up and leave at the start of the class. I think its rude that the studio lets people practice that would cause this issue. Also the floor in the room is bubbling up and has gaps missing that when you are trying to do a pose you can lose balance. This location needs a deep clean. The instructors are really nice. The HIIT classes are a phenomenal work out and you reap the rewards but they are intense.
Dave Runyon: Most awesome place to have a yoga practice. It really is a family.
Isabel Garcia: I found the floor (which was all lined with rubber material) to be dirty, and the place was extremely cluttered. Instructors asked people to scoot in even closer to where people's matts were 2 inches apart. Didn't have enough room to stretch appropriately for certain movements and the music the instructor played was heavy on lyrics. The instructor was okay, nothing great and not the friendliest either. Not relaxing at all. I've never been to a yoga studio that puts on music with lyrics such as John Mayer. It was very difficult to clear my mind.Lasting impression was the lack of cleanliness. Everything sticks to rubber. Especially with hot yoga.. I'm allergic to cats and I somehow had cat hair on me by the end of the session.
Bek Ho: I read a post that said this studio is a body shaming studio. I can't tell you how wrong they are, this studio was the only one in the area that I felt comfortable going to at my heaviest which was 330 lbs! The instructors treated me like I belonged which is more than I can say for a lot of studios. They became a huge part of my weight loss journey.
pamela Pamela: I tried this studio for a week, taking 5 classes all with different teachers. I kept giving it the opportunity to change my mind and allow me to experience yoga as I had so many times before in the number of different studios I have visited in my travels. One of the most striking things about the studio that seemed non-yogic was how cluttered the entrance, check in area was, followed by the curtains into the studio. How can I clear my mind when the area around me is cluttered??The teachers never left their mat to check the student’s alignment or offer assistance in getting deeper into a pose. I feel that if I had not familiar with my own practice I could have injured myself because there was only encouragement to achieve a pose instead of listening to what you needed at that time.My heart rate increased and I got a good sweat on, and in one class I was introduced to a really enjoyable breathing technique but I never felt like I had "arrived". I was being taught a routine instead of being guided through my practice.
John Taylor: I don't know what to say about this place, the quality of the class can very WILDLY depending on the instructor. I guess the most accurate assessment I can offer is the following:The Good: If your a student looking to chisel that spring break bottom you have for a business that will provide that for you.The Bad: If your a serious yoga practitioner then I would look someplace else. You will do something in the class, but its certainly isn't yoga, its more like hot aerobics. The Ugly (pun): this place is A LOT about looking good so if your new to yoga for feel a bit self conscious about your body your going to stand out like sour thumb.

Firefly Hot Yoga Barre: what do users think?
Jess Skywalker: This place is magical. A truly welcoming & even loving environment to learn & grow. There are classes for all levels of experience. The barré & sculpt classes will have you sweating out of pores you didn’t know you have & the yoga classes will relax & soothe you down to a cellular level. I cannot say enough great things about this beautiful little studio. Playlists are fire. You will fit in here.
Rose Price: I got into hot yoga from the nurses week gift that this studio gave to nurses. This studio did more than our own hospital did to show appreciation during this pandemic. It’s harder for me to attend due to travel nursing now but I love this studio. Cleaner than others that I’ve been too and the instructors are friendly and help you feel relaxed with every session. Highly recommend!
Sara: Wonderful space and everyone is very welcoming!
Patty Paige: First the environment is on point from the time I walked in I was instantly relaxed.. Abby was amazing so friendly and very good at talking you through each step . I got a little sweat going but also my mind was focused on nothing but the class and I love that leaving the outside world outside would definitely recommend and will be attending again.
Mike Roche: Love Firefly!! Wonderful place! The yoga community is awesome!
Sarah Wills: Fantastic atmosphere!
Celine Bridges: This studio is one of my all time favorites! I love the intimacy and feeling of the space and the owner Abbey is an absolutely amazing, beautiful soul and great instructor ❤️
Victoria Evans: Best place for hot yoga and barre workouts. Their lunch power hours are also great! Jen and Abbey are awesome instructors.
Jo Schwartzfisher: Was rather distracted and disappointed when the owner of the studio sits in on a class and does her own stretches and poses completely ignoring her own instructor and customers that keep her business going.
Cheryl Kersman: My first time doing hot yoga and absolutely loved it with Mindi. Very nice studio.
PD Brick: Just fyi, this review is by David, not Polly. I happened to see a sign while walking downtown for lunch advertising 2 weeks for $20 for hot yoga. I went above Kewpees where Firefly is located thinking I would get some details for my wife. Little did I know that my short conversation with Abbey that day would turn into 2 years of practicing yoga for both Polly and I. In fact, Polly has become an instructor, and I try to take a "few" classes each week. Abbey refers to me as the Yoga Ambassador, a title I love, because I honestly can't say enough wonderful things about the studios, the instructors, and all the incredible people I've met.
Lou G: Love this place so much! the Barre 60 classes are my favorite and also the Slow burns. I prefer this location over all of them in the area. Friendly, clean, and Abbey the owner is always great to work with! The parking isnt so great, but its the one con.
Emily Jefferson: I have been going to yoga classes here once or twice a week for about a year and a half. Studio is clean and cute, and they have mats and towels available to rent for $2 if I ever forget. I enjoy the variety of class types. Instructors are all friendly and welcoming.
Sebastian Stankiewicz: I love this studio! It is quaint and lovely! There are nice exposed brick walls and a cozy feel makes for a great yoga session!
Debra D.Harmon: I have been coming routinely for a couple of months. I love the feel of the studio. All of the instructors are welcoming, and offer advice and suggestions for those of us who are new to yoga. They are always willing to answer questions after class. They walk around during class and monitor styles and positioning and recommend you not go beyond your safe limits. It is always an awesome workout.
lorrie huber: The staff is warm and welcoming. This workout is amazing and a life changer for me.
Dave Runyon: This is the most beautiful yoga studio in Lansing. You can't help but feel great after walking out. MMMMMMMmmmmm great!
Rooster Cogburn: Instructors nice sessions cheap
Liane Carslake: I always feel much younger & more flexible walking out of the studio than I did walking into the studio!

Yoga State of Mind, Body & Soul, LLC: what do users think?
Haleigh Herman: I love Yoga State! Every class is different and each teacher has their own style. I love Payton's 7:15pm Hot Vinyasa class to unwind after a long day. Recently I've been enjoying Rachel's 5:45 BUTI class on Sundays too, its super fun and has great music! All the classes are a great workout and escape from everyday life. Yoga State is amazing and I really feel a sense of community when I show up for class.
Kaylynn Hendricks: Yoga State holds a special place in my heart. I started practicing here in 2019 off and on. After the pandemic returning to class here felt safe. Each class I have taken, the teachers have been caring and down to earth. If you talk to them before class they genuinely listen. My favorite classes are Payton’s Wednesday 7pm and Sunday noon classes! Payton has a wonderful voice that is upbeat and positive. This helps so much during class to motivate me and help me get better each time I go!This studio and its teachers meet you where you are. Once you have the flow built you are set free to add in or keep the original flow. Every class I attend I see some improvement and n myself or get into a pose I wasn’t able to before! Highly recommend Yoga State!
Katie Reiman: I ADORE this studio! All of the instructors are amazing but I always make it a point to attend Payton’s classes… couldn’t think of a better place to practice!
Petey G.: Yoga state is becoming a safe place for me. I’m truly enjoying my practice here. I love Payton’s classes! She knows how to push you to your edge with compassion.❤️
Naomi Matsuo: Beautiful place, nice songs and very professional!!! Took payton’s class and i loved it! she makes people realize they’re stronger than they think they are. It’s very intense and, when you’re done, it’s very calm and comforting. Will definitely come back!
Alice Matsuo: I came from Brazil and took payton's and Jen's class! I loved It! They're both great teachers, i'll definetly come back when i can!
Allison Supanich-Goldner: I’m sure the practice overall is wonderful, but had a traumatic experience - the instructor, Peyton I believe their name was, refused to allow two different participants to step into the hall to refill water or take a break, and highly discouraged taking a break to rest. Said that the participants in downward dog were “suffering” and that until every member of the room held the position for 3 breaths no one could stop.Overcrowded the room, 52 people in one session, mat to mat, and started the class 15 minutes late due to more people arriving.Music was loud and hype, not very relaxing or yoga like. Felt more like a boot camp than a yoga class, due to the pressure to continue participating even when pain or dizziness was the problem. Told a participant that they had three breaths to get back in.Overall loved the ambiance of the lobby but would not recommend taking classes with this instructor
Sophie Larochelle: This place is fantastic!!!!!! I was blown away by the tranquil and welcoming atmosphere of this yoga studio, which is truly stunning. Each instructor is very knowledgeable and attentive, making sure to give each student individual attention. There is something for everyone in the classes, which cover a wide range of styles and levels. The studio itself is neat and well-kept, and it has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I always feel rejuvenated and reenergized after each class. In general, this yoga studio is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a high-quality yoga experience. It has transformed my life, and I've been coming here for a whole year! The classes at Yoga Stare are, without a doubt, the most challenging I've ever taken in a studio, but they're also the most fun and interesting, not to mention also the most beneficial I’ve taken. The challenge is what keeps me coming back because they have shown me how resilient and strong I am. It also smells awesome in here!!!!! And doing all of the hot yoga makes your skin glow I think, I actually think that this place turns you into a super model and a super hero at the same time… just sayin
Grace Weatherbee: Yoga State is the most unique, authentic, and FUN studio in the area! I was fortunate to come across this studio in 2018. I was trying out all of the local studios to find where I wanted to take a teacher training program. After just one of Jen’s classes, I knew I wanted to learn from her, and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The community at Yoga State is welcoming and positive, and I am so grateful for an amazing group of teachers that inspire me, and everyone who takes class, to become the best versions of ourselves. The classes at Yoga Stare are definitely the most challenging I have experienced in a studio setting before, and at the same time they are the most fun and interesting. They have taught me how resilient and strong I am, and the challenge is what keeps me coming back. I also love the slow flows and yin classes that are offered that really help to round out my own personal practice. If you are looking for a yoga studio with a quirky, unique vibe, a fun and knowledgeable group of teachers, and challenging, creative classes this is the place for you!
Rachel Campbell: When I first started yoga, I was not really a fan. I found it too boring and repetitive. I really wanted to like it because of all the benefits, so I kept trying different yoga studios. Then I found Yoga State and I immediately knew this would be my forever yoga home! It was like no other studio. The flows were so fun and every class is different so you are not stuck in a repetitive routine. The teachers create a safe environment for their students to prevent any injury. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced yogi, you will definitely be challenged which is what we need in order to grow. Changes don’t happen in your comfort zone. I would give Yoga State 10/10 hands down!
Bry Powers: I've been to other studios in the area and Yoga State is the one I landed at. The teachers focus on guiding you with their voices, rather than their bodies, which allows them to attentively observe their students and individualize their cues. The teachers guide the classes with a loving firmness that holds you accountable to putting in your best effort so you get the most benefit from each class. This is something that really sets this studio apart. Whether you are a new or experienced yoga student, you will find classes that challenge you here, which is a good thing, because that is what allows you to grow ❤️
Cami Thomet: Yoga state is the best place to practice yoga. The vibes of the studio are exceptional. I couldn’t recommend coming in for a class more. Every teacher has their own style, so every class is different and a lot of fun! The music is always so good and fun to flow to. The classes are challenging in the best way, and you’re really held accountable which we all need from time to time. Every time I leave the studio, I leave feeling better than I arrived.
Sarah Suddarth: I was highly disappointed and distressed during the 7:15 hot Vinyasa class this evening. There were a number of factors that contributed to a very negative experience but most notably that the instructor physically blocked a participant from leaving during class and argued with her until she chose to return to her place and stretch for the remainder of the class. That is highly unethical and potentially traumatic. I was also considering leaving because I have auditory sensitivity and the music was so loud it was literally painful. However, after I saw her physically blocking the other participant I chose to endure until the end. I unfortunately can't see myself going back; the space is gorgeous.
Jaye Elsey: Really enjoyable time practicing here. Did the teacher training and learned a lot, super cool experience 10/10 would recommend :)
Jivana Esposito: Obsessed with this place. Vibes are exceptional. Staff is so wonderful— it’s such a beautiful place to deepen your yoga practice.
Payton Howard: This is a great place to begin your yoga journey! I took my first class in 2017 and it was definitely challenging, but that's what drove me to come back. Each time I was able to do a little more and enjoy it more! I learned so much about yoga philosophy and the physical side of things just from attending classes! The growth in myself that I observed was amazing! I went through the 200 hour teacher training program here in 2019 and I can't even possibly express how grateful I am that I happened upon this studio. I have taken at all of the other studios in town over the years and nothing compares to the care and compassion that the teachers at Yoga State have for their students! Thank you Yoga State!!Don't be afraid of the challenge!! Everything in life that is good should make you uncomfortable! If you feel that uncomfortable feeling, you know that change is coming and in this safe environment that has been created, the only outcome is something so amazing!!I recommend taking from Jen if you want to get really real with yourself and what you can accomplish!!! You will grow so much so fast!
Brittany T: Yoga State is like a second home to me! I’m so happy to have wandered into this studio 4 years ago. It is a warm, welcoming atmosphere and the classes challenge you in the best possible way. Flows are fun, unique, and give space for creative expression (which I love as a former dancer/gymnast). The teacher training program here is an amazing experience! I couldn’t imagine taking this training from anyone but Jen. She’s simply the best at what she does. I’ve met such awesome people through this and have not only seen its benefit in my practice but in my daily life also.
Patricia Holman: YS is amazing studio to practice yoga at all levels. The instructors are are very welcoming and helpful. I took the 200 hour Teacher Training with Jen and not only has that changed my practice but changed my life! I am now teaching and absolutely love sharing my passion for yoga - I have learned that you don’t have to be in your 20’s and flexible to practice - anyone can practice yoga. (Btw I am 62 and started a few years ago)! Love love love this studio in East Lansing across from MSU!
Ryan Vartoogian: This is different from other yoga studios in good ways. It's a very relaxed atmosphere. The classes are set in dimly lit rooms with modern music that's paced to the yoga making it motivational and entertaining. All the instructors are extremely knowledgeable and make the classes really impactful. This is a great place to learn yoga. Hot Yoga is available here along with many other yoga classes. They also offer good advice on the best yoga mats. If you've taken yoga other places, just at home or it's your first time yoga state hot yoga is a great place to check out. They have two locations, one in East Lansing and in Okemos.
J K: Facilities are absolutely gorgeous and they have a large variety and expansive class schedule. I like that there are plenty of affordable drop in options. If you are looking for quality instruction, or are newer to yoga, I would not go here. The instructors don’t correct poor form, music is so loud and it’s dark in the room which makes it difficult to follow what they are instructing, and the classes are so packed that the instructor doesn’t have room to demonstrate.I did attend one session where the instructor briefly massaged everyone’s face at the end when our eyes were closed. I didn’t mind so much, but she did not ask anyone for permission to touch them. And it was a bit gross (unsanitary) to have her touch your face after touching other faces especially when it’s hot yoga.
Erica Goonen: I highly recommend Yoga State of Mind Body and Soul. This studio will always hold a special place in my heart. I originally started taking yoga classes at the studio back in late 2015 I later took Jen Hayes' 200 hr yoga teacher training in 2017. Can I say AMAZING! I could go on and on about that. I later became a Yoga Instructor and Spin Instructor for the studio and even held a marketing internship which was mandatory for my degree at Michigan State University. All I can say is Yoga State of Mind Body and Soul impacted me in wonderful ways. I met friends, felt part of the community, was taught life skills. All the teachers have their own spin on their class which is what helps make the studio so unique. Oh did I mention? TWO locations! This is great for those who might not be located right next to campus. All I can say is this studio is highly recommended. There is a large class selection, great teachers, wonderful customer service, its the whole package! I also suggest getting to know the owner Jen, she is phenomenal!

Peoples Yoga Studio Lansing: what do users think?
Cristi Carpenter: I started yin yoga on Sunday nights with Nate and I can't believe how much better I feel! I have a physical job and deal with a lot of pain in my hips, shoulders and back. Just one night a week has helped so much with flexibility and comfort. I also sleep better. Would highly recommend The People's Yoga!
Ali Burck: I had never been to a yoga studio or taken a real yoga class before coming here. I am in no way in shape so I was really nervous but this place is so welcoming! I did the Gentle Aerial Yoga class which was so inclusive and allowed me to try things I didn't think I would be able to do! The instructor (Celine) and other students were so nice and they had all the props I needed there. I will definitely be going back for more of these classes. Highly recommend no matter your size or level of fitness!
Stephanie Edge: Classes:People’s Yoga classes are beneficial, accessible, healthy, and informative. At People’s Yoga, you will find instructors that put a lot of care into their students and their classes. The offerings of classes and options during class at People’s Yoga allow people to find what works for them. They are dedicated to providing classes that improve quality of life and the way you move. This encourages you to embrace variety and choice in many mindful and different ways.200 Training: Peoples Yoga 200 YTT is enlightening, giving a wealth of insight. Misty incorporates many perspectives in which she shares her gifts, empowers others to offer their gifts, and inspires the same in you. This allows you to make what you want of the training and make yoga your own. The experience is informative, emphasizes the strengths of many approaches, and provides depth. Yoga is so vast but the connections throughout the journey allow you to see concepts that are all encompassing and appreciate all of yoga. Misty is an exceptional human to be around with how humble, authentic, and joyful she is. She ensures she keeps this energy apart of her, her studio, and those around her that are involved in the training or are students. Kelly was also a teacher who brought what she had to the training and allowed me to make the most of my practice.
Corrine Higley: I just attended my first class and I loved it! I'll definitely be going back, and Shiloh was an amazing instructor.
Sebastian Gutierrez: This studio is the best! All the instructors I’ve had the pleasure of learning from/working with are very good at making everyone feel welcome and give good instruction. Highly recommend!
Linda Wegener: Peoples yoga is a wonderful place to take yoga no matter what age or what level you are. Misty is a very good teacher; patient, kind , generous and a good sense of humor! The studio is nicely appointed and a pleasant atmosphere. Great place to go!
Ryan Fantino: I felt very comfortable getting back into my yoga practice coming to Peoples Yoga. I've had classes with several of the instructors all of whom provided excellent instruction across the variety of skill levels that are welcome in many of their drop-in classes. It's also in a great location and the studio is super nice.
Greg Whittaker: I just had my first class at People's Yoga, and it was everything I was hoping it would be. A very good experience.
Melissa Powell: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI just love this studio and all the instructors. I found my tribe and it makes me really happy. Melissa McKimmy is amazing.
Aura Ozburn: Quality care and instruction —— a wonderful yoga studio. There is no wafting patchouli and yesterday’s disturbing dust. The moment you step in, you feel the professional vibe — the studio is beautifully designed and cared for: clean, organized, aesthetic bliss. The instructors are well trained, following the owner, Misty’s leadership. My favorite yoga studio!
Veronica Briseño: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityOutstanding yoga classes. Highly recommend! And the best part is you can join from anywhere thanks to their virtual offerings. So grateful for People’s Yoga!
John Kerr: People’s Yoga is a wonderful place, welcoming to all kinds of learners with all kinds of bodies and abilities. The vibe is always positive and reinforcing. The in-studio classes are wonderful of course, but the online courses are excellent as well.
Amy Norris: Misty is the best. I’ve followed her at other studios throughout my rehabilitation after a horrible accident and I’m so glad she opened Peoples Yoga! She knows the body INCREDIBLY well, and teaches yoga with proper form -which is so important. I never thought I would enjoy yoga, but I love her classes and always feel better after a session.
Nell Kuhnmuench: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityShiloh is phenomenal and the studio is very comfortable and welcoming.
Christine Skoutelas: Love Shiloh!
Erin Gerstler: My mom and I are new to this studio during the Quarentine and are all the way in Florida! We have felt nothing but welcome from Misty and the studio! We are enjoying doing these yoga classes through zoom and love that they are providing that option during this time!
Katlyn Cardoso: This place is life-changing. I found the studio at a tough time in my life and in my practice, and it was just what I needed. The space feels so safe and inviting, and the diversity of classes offered make it truly a studio with something accessible to everyone. The focus is on engaging all parts of yourself to achieve a stronger mind-body-breath connection versus a single-minded prioritization of the physical workout.Every time I step onto my mat at Peoples Yoga, I am reminded of what yoga should be: welcoming, inclusive, fun, and about connection -- with the community of yogis around you and with every piece of yourself. I always leave feeling more balanced in all ways, and inspired to take my yoga practice off my mat and into the way I engage with myself and the world around me.Peoples Yoga is something special. Give yourself the greatest gift and get on your mat.
Ned Curtis: Peoples Yoga Studio provides a great quality of diverse yoga classes/practices. All of the teachers are genuinely caring for you, your body, and your life. My experience as a disabled senior, has been excellent. I have learned the important detail of postures how to modify, and the benefits you can derive from pose. I recommend Peoples Yoga Studio, Misty (owner/lead teacher), and all of the staff and fellow students to you regardless of whether you are a novice, a long-time yogi, or just searching for something. A+ experience!
kim zipple: The teachers do not hurry through poses. The teachers teach you how to do the poses correctly, so that you do not injure yourself. As a Physical Therapist, I highly recommend peoples yoga studio if you want to learn and maintain a high quality yoga practice.
Shiloh Daum: Peoples Yoga is a welcoming space that supports students, as well as teachers. I am so grateful to come in and experience all the details and love that have been put into the studio. There are options for experiencing yoga in different ways, whether you want to have an adaptive yoga class, therapeutic, functional movement, spiritual, flow, or yoga with props. The teachers are treated as collaborators that are able to contribute ideas for making the space special and are paid fairly. The owner of the studio, Misty, works hard to not have yoga philosophy at odds with the business of owning the studio. I admire this so much. The teacher training program gathers all the components that make up yoga and makes them accessible in a nurturing way. This is not a yoga cult type atmosphere with top down leadership. It is a loving community of those who are passionate about yoga and want to share it. There are conversations about how to make yoga accessible to all, aiming for diversity and inclusion. Highly recommend that you try out as many classes on the schedule as you can and see what resonates. Beautiful studio with beautiful intentions. Definitely check it out! Namaste' 3
CJ Kruska: Peoples Yoga Studio is exactly what the name implies: yoga for all people, regardless of age, shape, size, gender or ability. Misty takes time to explain each pose with an emphasis on proper form, not speed. She is brilliant at tailoring poses to each client’s particular needs, and always gives alternate adaptations for each pose. The atmosphere is positive, supportive, calming, and non-competitive. I always leave my Chair Yoga classes feeling stronger, taller, and ready for the rest of my day. And lest you think Chair Yoga is an easy class, let me just say that I am continually challenged by this class; it is not for the faint of heart!

Michael Paski: Amazing, experienced teachers. Best yoga studio in town!!!!
Karina WIlliams: If you want to learn a real yoga practice in Lansing, this is your place! The teachers are extremely well trained, informative and safe. Just go!!!!
Suzanna Kostka: I am so impressed with this studio and the teachers. I always feel safe and challenged. Also really taken care of. Thank you!
Jacqueline: The studio is always very clean and sanitary. The staff is kind and helpful; they clearly care that you get the most out of your practice. There is usually a focus on safety and technique, which has allowed me to outgrow some bad habits I previously developed. While it's a bit pricey, it's well worth it and they do have student discounts.I also love their online classes which are both live and on-demand.
Amy Rowland: Positive:Quality
Christine Glass: This amazing yoga studio has knowledgable, friendly instructors who hold alignment based classes. The owner, Hilaire, has an impressive knowledge of the traditional yoga principles and she teaches all 8 limbs of yoga in her studio which I have not found elsewhere. I wish I lived closer so that I could visit the studio more often but the virtual classes are also great. Anyone looking for an intense, advanced class should check out the virtual Advanced Power class. I also highly recommend the Pranayama and Chanting class. Those looking to teach yoga or deepen their knowledge of the practice should consider Hilltop's yoga teacher training program...Life changing!
Uday Desai: What a great place for Yoga! This is lot more than just a Yoga Studio. It is school or rather a "shala" (shala is Sanskrit word), and awesome community. Hilaire is awesome person, full of energy and she knows deep Yoga philosophy as well.I am truly missing this place and community now.
Haley Daffron (Haley Daffron): I recently went through the 200hr and 500hr teacher trainings, which gave so much knowledge about yoga (the asana/postures and it’s philosophy) all taught in such an authentic and kind way. It makes for a knowledgeable teacher who can keep their students safe. I also think it’s great way to just discover more about yourself and life through yoga even if you aren’t looking to teach. The classes and community are also pretty great. It’s a boon. 10/10 recommend.
Alison Miller: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI just finished 500 hour teacher training with Hilaire and it was truly life changing, so much so that I immediately enrolled in her 750 hour training. I can't say enough about Hilaire's depth of knowledge, her caring and loving approach to teaching, and the experience of being a part of the Hilltop Yoga community.
Justin Jagger: Great yoga studio

Ben Crowley: The instructors are patient and very knowledgeable about yoga. The atmosphere is very relaxed and calming even when some of the postures are highly demanding.
Nicole Dingwell Frendt, LMSW: Love the traditional, alignment focused practice. Great teachers and very consistent.
Cory L: Cons:Kind of hard to find (you have to go to back side of the building)Pros:Cute and calming interiorService is good
Justine Melville: the perfect place to explore yoga... a variety of classes and knowledgeable instructors allow options for anybody to find their practice.
Carole Menovske: Yoga for every body.
Laura Hall: Great instructors, very nice studio.

Morgan Elder: Yoga Connect Lansing is an excellent studio! The instructors are so kind and supportive no matter how experienced you may be. They offer something for everyone. The space is very clean and they create a great atmosphere for class. Super excited to be attending classes here!
Julia Tobin: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality
Sara Franklin: This space is welcoming to all. Instructors offer modifications and ways to improve your own personal practice. The practices out in place for COVID-19are great, everything is labeled and it is clear where to place your belongings and mat, there are sanitation stations set out for individual, use social distancing encouraged and everyone is to wear a mask. I recommend this studio 100%.
Kelly Flores: Just tried this today (all levels Vinyasa)! This was so relaxing and such a great sweat! As a beginner D provided easier poses and it still felt comfortable and not straining. I highly recommend this experience, especially now that it's getting colder out and ya need a good workout inside. Hands down YOU WILL NOT REGRET trying this!
Abby Baerman: Very welcoming staff, beautiful lobby and studio space and fantastic instructors.
PD Brick: Just fyi, this review is by David, not Polly. I LOVE the newest addition to the Michigan Hot Yoga family! Having multiple showers is a definite plus, for those that need to quickly wash away the sweat and get back to work (or wherever) before heading home. The studio is very spacious and clean. Lots of class options and plenty of parking.
jennifer zeiss: I cannot say enough good things about all of these MI Hot Yoga locations. I have my favorite instructors but they are all amazing. You really feel the true passion they feel for yoga and the healing power it has. Samantha, Kelly, Maggie, Chloe, Scott and Mindy, thanks for the push, the support, the inspiration, the joke when I can’t tell my left from my right (it reminds me to just have fun)and the class that always feels like a hug. If you have been thinking about trying hot yoga or yoga in general, please take a moment and check out any of the MI Hot Yoga locations. I know they will bless you as much as they continue to bless me. ❤️
Nate Strauss: Could not recommend this studio more. It’s beautiful, clean, and the practice room is huge with plenty of space for everyone. There’s always a nice person at the front desk and all instructors here are happy to help newcomers learn more about yoga.
Erin Lunsted: A wonderful studio to practice. Unique and fun classes with friendly and experienced teachers. Large lobby area with plenty of storage for belongings. They also have showers which is very convenient.
Eric Pardini: A really great yoga studio. Instructors are friendly and knowledgeable. There are a wide variety of classes and times offered. The facility is spacious and very clean. It’s a wonderful asset to West Lansing.
