S L Bach: AKA. Lotsbaich Family. As is usually the case, our furnace/AC decided to die at the beginning of a 90 degree heat wave. The furnace was a Pulse and over 30 years old. The gentleman that came explained the problem and gave us the estimate for our new furnace and ac. (We had an estimate earlier in the winter for just the furnace that was much higher than the furnace AND AC we purchased.) They helped us with financing too! The next day the same gentleman came to tweak our old unit to keep it running enough to keep a small amount of cool air flowing while we waited for it to be installed. The day of installation 3 very polite and professional young men arrived early with our new furnace and ac. They worked throughout the day. Removed the old unit, fixed a duct that had been disconnected, installed our new furnace and ac. Such nice considerate people. It rained that afternoon, they pulled out a large umbrella and kept right on working. They were at our home most of the day. They took the time to show us how to use our new keypad/thermostat. They did such a great job of removing all the boxes and pieces of the old furnace. Cleaned up the area around our new furnace afterwards. I just can't express how happy we are with our new unit and the service they provided. We purchased this home 4 years ago. Left a mess(sheet metal screws everywhere), poor quality work (ripped down the wiring to basement lights to run lines then left it like that), and difficult to work with (took months to get someone to fix the line they installed that leaked when installed). Randy Van Voorhees: Requested a home visit to discuss both heat and cooling. Was visited and spent an hour plus going over the needs. Measurements were taken and options discussed verbally. A quote was to be offered. After about 4-5 weeks I emailed and called about the status of the quote. No response. 2nd attempt a couple weeks later and no response. Ran into the group at the Lansing home show and asked what happened and why I received no responses? They apologized and said they would call me the next week. 2-3 weeks go by no response. I then go online and did a live chat with someone stating the experience so far. they asked for my address which was given and I was told once again someone would be in touch with me...well you guessed it..no response. If Doty was not interested in the project I would expect at least that call. No call at all is not what any company should do in regards to customer service. Maybe they should review their mission claim on their website as it is all about customer service. I would be cautious about using this company.

john stock: After receiving 4 bids from 4 great local companies, we had our new Infinity Series furnace and air conditioner installed by Doty. Not only was Pete (the "Sales & Estimator" guy) very personal, he was extremely knowledgeable about the products he was offering and just how each item would perform in our unusual house layout. When the installers (I'm sorry, No names, as I only met them briefly, as I work 3rd shift and they were pretty much in and out just after I got up in the afternoon.) came to perform the installation of everything, they wore protection over their shoes, were polite, fast and, this may sound goofy to some, but they cleaned up everything after they were done, to me, a detail of true worksmanship. I highly recommend Doty Mechanical, not just for the great equipment that they sell, but also because of their personnel. Oh, just realized that I didn't mention the price. While a couple of bids were really close, Pete's all-inclusive bid was the winner, as Carrier has one of the best consumer ratings out there as opposed to Lennox. The difference that this system makes was noticeable after just a couple of days. Instead of the AC or Furnace being on full blast, then off, the Infinity Series has many levels of settings that run constantly at very low energy settings, so your home stays at whatever temperature you set it at, no heating 'til way up, then cooling way down (or vice versa), it just maintains the temperature you want. The Thermostat is way cool, even gives you a 5-day weather forecast. And you can see and adjust everything on your cell phone too! The efficiency is top-of-the-line for both the AC & the Furnace, so you get really nice rebates from LBWL &/or Consumers Energy. Seriously, give these guys a call if you want to get a great price on either an AC unit and/or a new Furnace. You won't be sorry.
